Ah yes, K-ON! A moeblob show about cute girls doing cute things, and also music happens sometimes (except not really). If you haven’t seen the series, you’re probably not going to be watching this movie. If you’ve seen the series, you also know what this is about…but just to be on the safe side, let’s recap. K-ON! is about a school band of 5 girls who spend more time goofing off and eating cake than actually practicing. By some miracle, they are actually good at what they do and produce some darn catchy songs. In the movie they’re going on a graduation trip to the UK! I HOPE THIS MEANS THERE WILL BE ENGRISH! Again, fans will feel right at home with the usual suspects behind this. Kyoto Animation (Haruhi, Lucky Star) turns every single scene into high class moeblob glory while the stellar seiyuu cast sings their heart out. It’s pretty self-explanatory that if you like K-ON! you will be excited for this and if you don’t…well…hey don’t look at me like that. =.= |

Well hello there K-ON! Movie, you know they are going to make a killing on the ticket sales and everything else you can throw into a movie! I sat through both seasons and found it to be so damn addictive and the cuteness overload of Azusa and Yui together? Damn, not to mention Ritsu always making me laugh around Mio. I was always wanting the girls to play some music! But that rarely happened ever in season two. But this movie is another one of those hey let’s go somewhere episodes, which are always so hilarious to watch, and now Azusa gets to tag along this time, usually she was always left out of the fun adventures. Kyoto Animation will knock this thing right out of the park, even if you have a burning hatred of K-ON! You can’t deny it will look fantastic.

You know, I don’t even remember WHY I decided to watch K-ON in the first place. Not that it matters now, since I’ve found that watching girls eat cake and procrastinating is entertaining for some reason (entertaining enough to cosplay as Yui for 2 years in a row). Anyways, the girls are going to the UK for some reason. Will they actually practice their instruments? Probably not. Will there be a random music insert to sell movie tickets? Probably. Will it be a full hours or so of moe with little to no substance (that will be extremely entertaining for some inexplicable reason)? I’d bet money on it. Since the entire cast, director and animation studio list is identical to the anime staff, it will probably just feel like a long continuation of the anime. I’m not complaining. MOE MOE KYUN~.

I have no clue what this movie is all about, except that the disappearance of this important princess (who wants to reach the moon) resulted chaos and confusion in the kingdom. If this sounds familiar, then I’m sure you’ve read Eleanor Farjeon’s “The King’s Daughter Cried for the Moon” because that’s what this movie is based on. I have a feeling that I will like this movie because it has some children fairy tale touch in the story (duh), and I’m fond of stories that are involved with fairy tales, myths, and folk stories. Unfortunately, the cast isn’t revealed yet so I can’t really say anything about that, but let’s hope that Union Cho (subcontractor of Canaan and True Tears) can produce this movie properly (and I think they will). |

Yeah, there’s not a lot of information about this yet, but anaaga seems to have summed it up quite nicely. Personally, any story about some girl wanting to go to the moon reminds be of the story of the Bamboo Cutter’s Daughter. (You know, Princess Kaguya, she sends 5 suitors off to do impossible tasks because she doesn’t feel like dealing with them and then ends up ditching everyone anyways and goes to the moon, etc.). Though I don’t think this is 100% based off of that. Anyways, all that’s known is that this will be directed by union CHO. …Who are they again? The people who animated Chihayafuru? I can live with that.

I’m a big fan of anything .hack related. So far, .hack Conglomerate have been on a role with the .hack//Quantum OVAs they made rather recently. They were animated beautifully and managed to take the usual scenario of The World and keep it interesting. This is yet another new cast, but completely in CG. Not crappy CG, but honest to God beautiful CG. It looks like a cutscene straight out of a video game. It’s not Final Fantasy grade gorgeous just yet, but it certainly sets a new standard for anime CG since usually anime + CG = DERP.
Those of you who are new to .hack can still dive into this movie since it’s a new story. The only thing you have to know is that it’s about a game called The World where players are completely immersed in an MMORPG (by wearing glasses and connecting to a terminal) and can do basically any sort of RPG type thing. Dungeons, quests, things like that. However, the series almost always involves players being unable to log out, and still playing the game while in a coma. Also, people sometimes DIE in real life when they die in the game so there’s THAT. Fun times, I know. .hack is all about adding some mystery and tension that mixes the world of RPGs and real life very closely. I’m sure this will take FOREVER to be subbed, like all the movies here, but I still look forwrad to seeing it~

.hack is a big franchise of video games, manga and anime. I never played the game aside from watching my brother but I hardly remember what the game even had in it. I actually liked the series when it was on Cartoon Network but I never got far. I wish that I could get back into watching this anime series but it’s hard to come by. I’m unsure about 3D stuff but this is .hack and it sure seems to match it. The story is actually interesting. This movie is set in the year 2012 where children are born into a world connected by networks and a 14 year old girl named Yuuki Sora (Sakuraba Nanami who voices Shinohara Natsuki from Summer Wars) is invited to a game. Sora is uninterested in playing games but is pushed into it by her friends and once absorbed in this game; weird things begin to happen in the real world. It’s a typical .hack story but the settings are always so interesting to me. I’ll probably watch this movie… one day.

A fullly CGI .hack adventure?! Ohh yes! This should be like watching a full video game cut scene right? I always loved watching these different series because I love me some MMORPG style video games! I can’t wait to check this movie out even thou most CGI movies end up failing for me. On the voice acting side we have all fresh voices to listen to, things look weak in that department…

What would you do if the world is painted bloodred from the moment you were born? Follow the scent and survive of course. This is the story of Guts, the fighter hero, whose life’s tale spans many a volumes. He is adored and revered in the oldschool circle and for good reason because his life doesn’t only come with gory fights but lots of moral too. Being a complex character helps as you see him bungling and even failing at times, only to return back on his feet, learning from it. This is the first installment of triology movies, dealing with the Golden Age Arc, where he meets Griffith and his band of Hawks. This will be his first experience of camaraderie, and he will join them after being defeated by Griffith. Many epic battles will ensue and of course these movies will cover most of it.
Studio 4°C is animating it and after seeing some of the new Thunder cats, I would say they did a pretty good job. The Director Toshiyuki Kubooka has a well-rounded profile of character designing, Storyboarding and episode directions but this will be one of his big projects. I’m expecting something extra from Shiro Sagisu (both Evangelion, Bleach) and Susumu Hirasawa (original Berserk, Paprika, Millennium Actress), in terms of music. There’s a completely new VA cast so it should be interesting. Hiroki Iwanaga voices Guts and he’s completely NEW but he sounds good in the trailer so I have no qualms. I’m delighted that Griffith’s being voiced by the ever versatile Takhiro Sakura (Oshino from Bakemonogatari), not to mention Rikiya Koyama (Kiritsugu <3) is in there too. For the people who haven’t experience Berserk at all, this is your golden chance. Grab it!

I will probably take several arrows to the knee for this! And lots of other mid evil weapons. But I have never ever seen anything Berserk related…I should get on that right? One day..just not right now! But hey this movie might make me want to watch! I heard Berserk is always amazing…So ya watching this for sure then.

What do we have here? Is this another attempt a redo? It sure seems that way to me, but this is going to more about Knight and Alma fighting each other again. Hooray for random recap episodes, so ya this just sounds like a horrible idea to me. However I will probably end up watching this movie just to see how “different” things might actually be compared to the twelve episode series. |

Haha. Funny. Not. Either way, I’m still going to watch this anyway because it’s about Knight and I dig Knight just like how I dig the bromance between Knight and that blond loli trap. Ok seriously I don’t want to watch this but damn it new animation on Knight’s past…Urk…

I didn’t watch the Tv series after watching the first episode. No Puck and not that good animation quality=NO.
But I’ve read and reread the manga 3 times already and it’s still just as awesome as reading it the first time.
The reason why I’ve been so exited about the movie is that it appears that they intent to stick closer to the manga than the TV series and generally the first episode really told me everything I needed to know not to keep on watching.

Where did Fall go? That was incredibly quick to say the least. Well, let’s get started on Winter 2012.
Black Rock Shooter: I can’t believe we have to wait so long for Black Rock Shooter and I’m bummed that it’s only 8 episodes (Saw that on Anime News Network). That’s an irregular number for any series. What threw me off are the differences between the OVA and the series, like the artwork of the characters is not the same. Like Dead Master’s veil and glasses.
Senhime Zesshou Symphgear: This anime looks interesting. I always give a chance to anything that has supernatural in the genre. And since Aoi Yuki and Yuka Iguchi are part of the cast, it’s just another reason to check it out.
Nisemonogatari: Yes, Nisemonogatari is near!!! I’ve been itching to see what happens after Bakemonogatari which was badass. And this time, Koyomi’s sisters are taking the lead. At least it’ll help keep me occupied until the prequel movie Kizumonogatari comes along. And if I feel like it, I might put them in order and marathon the entire thing. LOL.
Another: The trailer alone had me creeped out even though there wasn’t much to show, not to mention the girl with the eye patch. Its genres are Mystery, Drama and Horror so I’m hoping that it will be exceptionally impressive though I’m not expecting it on Shiki’s level but would settle for Blood-C’s level.
High School DxD: Not sure what to expect so I’ll just wing it and see whether it deserves to watched or not.
Inu x Boku: Another supernatural anime, this time with a loli and a guy with two colored eyes? And he’s a fox demon? Maybe I’ll check it out. After all, first impressions are what counts.
Holy Knight OVA: Hmm… a vampire based OVA?! YES!!! Whew, I needed that because I was getting a severe backlash from vampire withdrawal and it wasn’t pretty. I’ll be eagerly awaiting this one. And hopefully, Kara, we’ll get a Bloody Cross adaption in the near future and for me, adaptions of Blood Parade and Mondlicht. And Overcooled, if you were interested in the vampire part and then you got scared by it, I think that’s a good thing. LOL. I see I’m not alone; there are few other vampire lovers here as well.
A pair of Rurouni Kenshin OVAs after so many years? What the hell took so long?! I was a little kid when it was playing on TV. I watched every episode I could.

BRS- Yeah….I am really bummed out about that whole 8 episodes…I swear the first two better not be a damn recap! But I know we will have some sort of “what you forgot” episode. Worst case we can hope for some hr episodes? or 30+
Symphgear- That series sounds interesting, right! I will watch cause <3 Index's VA Yuka Iguchi.
Nisemonogatari- YES YES AND YES! I loved all of the characters from Bakemongatari they are all amazing, I bet people are drooling to hear Hanakazawa again.
Another- PA works doing horror? Thank you! ALL MY MONEY, then again I have yet to see a horror anime do much. I guess if you said Mairai Nikki? Does that count as horror? Anyway looks great.
DxD- I will watch anyway cause I am currently watching Maken Ki, yes censored to all hell but not as bad as some shows out there.

I wonder if this season will go as fast as Fall did.
BRS: I hope those 8 episodes will be worth it. With Hanazawa playing the lead, it might turn out good. I want to see BRS’s other enemies.
Nisemonogatari: Let’s see how Araragi’s sister will pan out as main characters. The cast is pretty much the same except there will be no Araragi or Senjougahara. Why?!!
Another: Since this is supposed to be horror, it better deliver because not all anime seem to do well in the horror category (Unless it’s Shiki or Hellsing). And yeah, Mirai Nikki is supposed to be horror as well and it’s doing a good job so far.
Most of the shows I’ve seen on the list, I’ve seen Yoko Hikasa’s name. She’s even playing the lead for High School DxD. I guess she wants to create her own virus. But most of all, I’m extremely pissed that season 2 of Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka has been pushed to next season. *grinds teeth*. Hurry up, next season!!!

Yeah, having an adaption of Bloody Cross would have me grinning from ear to ear. I love it when Tsukimiya and Hinata are together and constantly trying to backstab each other for the book. For the record, they’d make a good couple if they weren’t trying to get one another killed. I love it when Tsukimiya is sucking blood from her victims, especially the way she did it to Hinata: By a bloody kiss. LOL.
For other good vampire manga out there, I strongly recommend the recent chapters of Dance in the Vampire Bund, Blood Parade, Mondlicht and Yougen no Chi.
I really hope Holy Knight will be great and I hope the mixed blood vampire girl bites a lot of people. The key part I really love is when they get a grip on their prey and bites them. In my opinion, the female vamps I’ve seen who have bitten a large number of people (or demons) would be Tsukimiya, Sunako, Karin and Mina Tepes.

Black Rock Shooter: Ahhh the OVA was kind of mehhish in my opnion. Such beatuiful animation, but I expected more DX. Though I think its still gonna be interesting to watch though. So still on my watch list.
Amagami SS: AMAGAMI SS AGAIN??? I remeber reading the blogs with Hato-Kun. Wow can’t believe it got a 2nd season. Though it was an interesting to watch throughout. It wasn’t really a bad show for its type of genre, just usually think shows like that don’t get 2nd seasons. Though I’m pretty sure I’m wrong lol.
Nisemonogatari: Another Bakemonogatari stroy???? OMG SHAFT IS BACK IN ACTION. Though I don’t mind the focus on the Koyomi sisters, I hope we can see some of the other characters from before too. (I <3 Sejougahara)

Thanks for the motivation. If there’s any hint of yuri in any of the anime you mentioned, I’m sticking to it. There definitely needs to more yuri shows around. Girls trading spit and the possibility of them shamelessly getting it on is a plus anytime.

You know Fosh, several years ago, when Firefly first came on, my group of friends were able to divide people into “That that love Firefly and are therefor cool, and decent, and honest, and caring, and just generally all around awesome” and “Those that hate Firefly, and are not cool, and have unkempt hair, and spinach in their teeth, and are keepers of other odious habits, and not at all awesome.”
Same thing with K-On. You need no more a litmus test for people than the Moe Wonderful that is Yui. And Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

The only show I’m actually excited for is Another I think this will be the only show I’ll be following from the winter season, if I will have time for it. I love the art and music is also pretty interesting. We’ll see, we’ll see. Aside from that, Danshi koukousei no nichijou (can you imagine a bolder name? xD) looks really funny and positive. I don’t think this wil be another Kimi to Boku, but nice enough for the laughs. XD

To get things summarised, the anime I’m listing for Winter is everything except Senhime (not my style of music), prince of tennis and area no kishi (no fan of sports), high school dxd (too much boobage for the year).
The series I will be looking forward is definitely Black Rock Shooter. Other than that will be Nisemonogatari and Another. FYI I started immediately to marathon Aquarion to prepare for the next season.
