I’ve yet to make my actual comment for the post but I wanted to point out a little error. Deku’s Quirk is called “One For All”. “All For One” is the Quirk of the antagonist who has yet to make an appearance.

Yeah well sometimes even I forget the actual names of the various powers these characters have because a lot of them have strange ones that sound odd…

      • BlackBriar says:

Oh, well. You can’t find awesome sounding names for everything.

Seriously, the second season for Boku no Hero Academia is a dark horse for me. Ever since it began, the following episodes keep getting better. Most baffling is that I was struggling with the first season because at the time, I didn’t feel it was all that and that it didn’t do much, with the frequent risk of dropping the series but it became a real pleasant surprise later on.

The tournament arc is as standard as a tournament arc can be but it was entertaining nonetheless. The show’s real awesomeness came afterwards and had a compelling villain in the Hero Killer: Stain. I can understand the guy’s reasoning but his methods are way too extreme. The bad news is his defeat left a void for new malice to fill in but what’s worse is that it’s not just one but many that are coming in.

Haha, didn’t you like the start of HeroAca? I personally was hooked right from the start, the way they established Deku’s struggle with becoming a hero was just brilliant. By the end of ep 2 I knew it was a keeper.

I’m difficult to impress unless it’s something that’s really and specifically in my strike zone. Aside from that, origins are standard for superhero stories and there are already countless entry numbers in that category alone, be it live action or animated. So, after a while, it sometimes feels like you’ve seen it all. And superhero stories themselves are already a common staple in stories, period.

        • ProtoSovereign says:

HAHA I guess so. I don’t read/watch superhero stuff usually so maybe thats why I was impressed.

    • Foshizzel says:

Season two is a huge improvement over the first, but of course with the first its gotta establish all these young heroes and with the second we can finally move things along story wise.

As far as standard shounen tournaments go this is one of the better ones because A it doesn’t take an entire season and B the fights are quick. Hero Killer Stain is a great mini boss! Not only is he scary as hell, but his message about real and fake heroes really motivates the new villains to fight back so were gonna see a ton of new faces.

Aside from the leftover Spring 2017 shows in Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Re:Creators and Boku no Hero Academia S2, I’m enjoying Kakegurui, Princess Principal, Fate/Apocrypha and Knight’s & Magic. I’m a little behind on Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ.

    • Foshizzel says:

Bahamut is still fantastic! Nina learning about love and how to control her dragon side is so much fun to watch.

RE:Creators is getting interesting ill do a post on that asap….

Kakegurui is addictive! I love how it starts as a simple game and five minutes later it gets INTENSE but I think I love it because of the characters.

Fate/Apco: IDK i’m not impressed with it at all in fact I think RE:Creators which is an obvious copy of Fate/Stay is waaaaaaaay better than Fate/Apco in terms of characters, animation, plot and badass fights!

While Fate/Apco is doing this really odd cute girls and boys doing cute things setup that just doesn’t belong in ANY fate/ series imo! That and its got an odd mix of comical gags as well? Like we learned Red Saber’s tragic past only to be followed up by her acting like a cat while chasing the cat? Wut? Yeah I know we’ve got stuff like Carnival Phantasm and Fate/Illya which are generally cute and comical, but it just doesn’t fit Fate/Apco which is going back to the serious grail war themes.

Id love to SEE symphogear AXZ! Sadly not a living soul is subbing it currently and Crunchyroll has the previous seasons but for whatever reason can’t get the newest season? What? Ah well ill have to wait a year to watch it and another season is coming soon so I might not get to see that either….

Best scene in Kakegurui’s 6th episode. At least for me because the Student Council President Kirari Momobami is fear and power personified.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeah that was a crazy moment!

          • BlackBriar says:

In that episode, between Midari and Kirari, the Student Council President, I’m more afraid of the latter because of her charm and charisma. She’s the type that makes you want to give into them unconditionally even though every warning bell in your brain is going off. Those kinds of people are my definition of “sweet poison”.

  4. ProtoSovereign says:

Is Princess Principal really that good? I just hesitate to watch it since its setting is ‘that’ era and I’ve already seen plenty of that from Black Butler for better or worse.

No idea what to expect from virgin soul. So I haven’t watched it.

Need to catch up on both kakegurui and re creators. Not sure what to think about the former. Its interesting but really over the top in a way that kinda reminds me loosely of prison school.

Too scared to watch Fate/Apocrypha, since its not done by ufotable.

Knight’s & Magic is just really fun and entertaining. I don’t even like mecha but this show made me put that aside once again.

    • skylion says:

I’m really grooving on PriPri, and I love that time period, so maybe I’m not the one to give an unbiased viewpoint.

    • Foshizzel says:

Princess Principal is great! The era isn’t really talked about as much at least to me its just the setting, but the real fun is with the characters because each spy has a special talent/skill they bring to the team which is really cool.

Did you see the first season of Bahamut? If you loved that you will find the second season to be just as fun! Also there are a few new characters.

Creators has gotten a hell of a lot better after they wrapped up Souta’s story with suicide-chan

Kakegurui is just insane fun! It does share some stuff with prison school I can agree but at the same time not really? The ecchi-ness is 0 in Kakeguri with some mild “might be yuri” scenes but nope its six episodes in and there hasn’t been anything like that.

Fate/Apco: As i’ve said to BB above its not that great and ya its missing that Ufotable flare because wow Fate/Acpo doesn’t look that great and the story is a complete mess.

      Knights: I’m a bit behind cause I got lazy…

      • ProtoSovereign says:

Nope haven’t seen season 1 of bahamut :P.

Great to know that Recreators gets better though. Seems like I’ll have some thing to look forward to catching up on that.

Oh and yes I meant that Kakegurui is similar to prison school with the insaneness. Will catch up on that soon.

Good to know I’m not missing out on much with fate/apro

As for Traps & Magic you can always watch that someother time no rush 😉

    • Wanderer says:

Princess Principal is one of the best of the season, in my opinion. It’s fascinating, and throws enough twists to keep you on your toes trying to understand what’s really going on.

      • BlackBriar says:

Aside from the developments, most of the girls, especially Ange, are compulsive liars. If the show isn’t keeping you on your toes trying to understand what’s really going on, then something’s wrong.

      • ProtoSovereign says:

Time to see what I’m missing out on…

    • Smiley says:

Is Princess Principal really that good?

      Yes.

  5. Wanderer says:

Hey all! Symphogear episode 6 has been translated! Whatever you do, do not skip the ED. You will want to hear it. It’s something really special this time.

    • BlackBriar says:

Just give Fosh a place where he can watch. Because he hasn’t seen the new season at all so far.

      • Wanderer says:

As far as I know you’ve got to search for fansubs at the moment, and I think it’s just Commie right now. Deadfish has a release out, but given that they only release after someone else releases a translation first, I suspect they’ve just copied Commie’s translations.

Not sure why Crunchy hasn’t picked AXZ up. It would simplify a lot of things.

        • Foshizzel says:

Ohhhhhh deadfish taking over? Commie refuses b/c everyone is spamming their site with please sub Symphogear on every other post they do…

I dunno why Crunchy hasn’t picked it up! They have the rest…

          *update*

A few of the subbers on Commie were on vacation so thats what happened
