After the success of Little Witch Academia and the oddball Inferno cop! Studio Trigger is coming out as a surprise studio, but I also had no idea they worked on other shows like The Idolmaster, Sword Art Online, Black Rock shooter, Majestic Prince, Rinne no Lagrange OVA, Hataraku Maou-sama, Valvrave and JoJo’s bizarre adventure. While that list has a few failures it has plenty of awesome thrown in. So, what is Kill la Kill even about? At first glance it looks like a typical action show with girls fighting with “battle uniforms” that give them crazy powers and you throw in the some great character designs by Sushio who worked on Gurren Lagann, Gunbuster 2, Panty and stocking, FLCL and all the rebooted Evangelion movies along with Hiroyuki Imaishi who directed most of the shows that I listed above. So yeah, I am really excited to see what Trigger has in store for us with Kill la Kill!
Trigger are basically all of the talented people at GAINAX combined to form a new studio, and they are really damn good at what they do. Expect Kill la Kill to be eye candy with a special, stylish flare. That alone is enough to turn heads at the idea of Kill la Kill. There’s not too much info out about the actual content of it yet, but I imagine it will just be mindless violence. Sounds good to me.

So yeah, Trigger’s name alone has been enough to build the hype for Kill la Kill to crazy levels. The art designs in the previews have been highly reminiscent of Hiroyuki Imaishi’s most famous work, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but will this show manage to carve out its own identity without aping that show’s trademark over-the-top style of everything spiraling out of control? I can’t wait to see. But most of all, I can’t wait to hear Mayumi Shintani again, a name you probably haven’t heard in over a decade, given that her biggest role as the femme fatale Haruhara Haruko in Gainax’s masterpiece FLCL was back in 2001. I really thought she had left the industry, but I guess she still has some ties with those Gainax folks.

Hooray, the second half of Valvrave is coming our way! Since I blogged season one of Valvrave on Metanorn I figured I might as well tackle this one as well, but I know a handful of people dropped the series because it just did not live up to the hype that they wanted; however, I loved every moment even the choice to throw in space vampires! So what can we expect in the second season? I really have no idea because the first half had a lot of shocking moments that involved Saki, Shoko, Haruto, L-ELF and how can we forget the death of a certain character? I wonder if we will finally explore the team aspects of mecha fighting since the team was fully assembled, but will they be able to perform as well as the team from Majestic Prince? I certainly hope so but I think we probably see more of the supernatural side of Valvrave that involve the space vampires.

*high five Fosh* Seems like we are few of those people who are actually to see Valvarave again! Just like Fosh, I can’t wait to see how the story is to flow. Will it recover from the train wreck with all the mindblowns that were shown at the last episode? Recovering or not, that won’t stop me from drooling at the Valvrave designs. Yep, I actually love everything about the Valvraves, and that’s the one thing that excites me the most. It seems that there’s going to be a new design for the Valvrave too (and the pilots), and that new design is hella sexy (color-wise). Now let’s see if it’s going to perform as sexy as its new color.

As someone who watched the first season of this, I have to say I’m very surprised that we’re seeing a second. I guess the discs sold well enough to warrant a second foray into the magical land of manhwa? As a reader of the manhwa though, I must admit I’m glad that they will be adapting more. There’s a lot of buzz about the Alaska arc potentially being animated, and while there hasn’t been any confirmation that this is what we’re getting to my knowledge, us manhwa readers are holding on to the hope that it’ll happen. The art I’ve found floating around on the internets depicts Stella, Elizabeth, and Chiffon in a snowy environment with their volt weapons at the ready. And I can think of only one arc in which this combination of characters is relevant: the Alaska arc.

Ecchi shows seem like the safest bet nowadays to get a sequel, whether they deserve them (DxD New) or not really (Samurai Bride). I’m a fan of the Freezing manwha, really good art, but Season 1 wasn’t a showcase of why I enjoy reading it. The series introduces us to the alien species Nova, then proceeds to obsess over superiority complexes amongst the 3rd-year students. Yes, there will be more of that, but in the Alaska arc the stakes are raised because of certain experiments going on and more people trying to force the issue, which makes for a much better story than the previous season. There is one arc that is between where season 1 ended and where Alaska happens, and without having seen any kind of scene relating to it, I think it might be skipped in favor of Vibration covering only the Alaska arc. Generally fine by me since I think it could be passed over and visited in a possible 3rd season.

Oh my god more Infinite Stratos coming our way? I am really excited even though I only watched the first season because of Charles as we all know she is the best character, right? Who cares about Houki or the other girls but we all have our favorites anyway and it appears that 8-bit is going to produce this again. Besides getting a second season, we have I think two sisters to add to Ichika’s growing harem with Takenashi and Kanzashi, which should provide more hilarious encounters with the main character walking in on the sisters showering or doing the typical falling on top of them.

Looks like IS is back for more international harem goodness! Supposedly this will be a reboot as opposed to just a second season, so we’ll see how things turn out. It would be kind of silly for 8bit to regurgitate everything from the first IS, and at the same time it’s pretty much confirmed that there will be new characters introduced. So to be honest, I’m not even sure why they’re calling this a reboot (the appended 2 doesn’t help either). Whatever the case, I’m excited for girls in skin-tight suits piloting mecha suits.

I was pretty much expecting robotics but the plot has a magic twist. In the world of Machine-Doll, in early 20th century, scientists were able to harness sophisticated magic with technological advancement. This combination of science and sorcery was called Makinot, circuits made from spells that were put into objects to bring them to life and even gain a personality. It was developed as a military weapon and soon spread throughout the world. Our main protagonist-kun, Akabane Raishin attends the Royal Academy to become the best in the world. He’s accompanied by a lovely teenage girl Yaya, who is actually his puppet weapon and he plans on rocket to the top of the class. However, his test scores are a dudder, although his combat skills and determination are second to none. So, this in mind, Raishin has to compete with the deadliest of classmates if he wants to come out on the top.

If you couldn’t tell from the trailer, Machine-Doll features the same character designs and art style of OreShura. I quite liked OreShura’s character designs and art style, so needless to say I am rather pleased with how Machine-Doll looks. And as far as the actual content goes, there’s definitely potential for the show to go places with the universe it’s created. My only concern is that the main character sounds woefully generic with his “not so bright but super determined” mindset. But who knows? Maybe he’ll grow as the show goes on.

Much like the long running PreCure series of magical girls fighting to saaveeee the world! Gundam has been around FOREVER and after that terrible final arc of Gundam AGE can this series revive our love of all things Gundam? Maybe? For Gundam Builders I feel this is a shout out towards the die hard fans because in the trailer there were several shots of both old school and new school Gundams like a certain red Zaku, Wing Zero, Epyon, The Strike Freedom and lots of other machines. However, it appears that all of the “fighting” takes place in some kind of CGI battle dome, which reminds me of Angelic Layer and stuff from Robotic;Notes roboOne tournament? Sadly this means that this series is once again aiming for the young boys much like Gundam AGE tried months before. Since all the fighting takes place in a battle dome I assume we won’t get lots of angry teens trying to kill each other week after week, right?

I’m… not so sure about this Gundam anime. I’m partially excited because it has all the old Gundams back again (red zaku squeeeee, I’m just waiting for a blond character now). Unfortunately I’m not so sure about the plot and setting of the story, since last time there was a Gundam-tournament-stuff, it became one of the underrated Gundam anime (at least, that’s what I’ve been reading. Haven’t watched yet). The character design is not as childlike as AGE, but still, they are younger than Garrod of After War. Kenji Nagasaki did a good job at directing No. 6, and he was partially involved in Gundam 00, so I hope this Gundam will be good. At least, better than AGE.

This is for the newcomers, because you do not have to watch the previously released series as this is a remake of the manga material (with 13 vols released), with new anime additions to the story. This tale is set in a town where humans and demons co-exist, so it takes more than a normal police force to maintain the peace. This is where the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office needed, comprising of four unique teenagers, each gifted with an amazing super power. This is clearly a super-hero movie but not much of the suit-up kind. The characters are lovable and have great interaction with each other (I preferred the OVAs than TV series), not to mention I have a Durarara!! feel from this and not without reason because the mangaka did work on its character designs and recently for Devil Survivor 2 anime. This time even if the character designs are by Ryo-timo (who’s directing this as well), the guy has enough experience for me to stay calm and look forward to enjoying the show.

One of my earliest posts on Metanorn after shortly joining was the Yozakura Quartet OVAs. which were very entertaining to watch! So of course when I saw there was more to this series I was super excited because I love almost all the characters and I am curious to see what happens next! Besides being hyped for more episodes I am surprised by the huge cast of voice actors starting with Misato Fukuen, Miyuki Sawashiro, Yuuki Kaji, A Kayano, Daisuke Ono, Haruka Tomatsu, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yoko Hikasa and lots of new actors. So yeah I can not wait to watch my favorite characters kicking demon ass and continuing their adventures together.

Oh helll… Here comes the blue filter… Well, if you were under a rock for a last few months, you missed out GoHands’ K, which was very pretty but the blue filter would get on your nerves sooner than later. Watching the trailer, I can see, it’s going to be used copiously again but everything else looks pretty good and hopefully, angela would do a good job on opening and ending theme for this anime. Originally, this anime was slated to release in 2011 Fall (scroll down to the last title on the page). Also, this is not the first  military girls-group themed anime with recent sleeper hits like Girls und Panzer and Upotte!! So, our three protagonists (a special forces unit, code-named Coppelion, in the 3rd Division of Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force), end up in Tokyo ruins after receiving a distress signal. What will conspire there as they fight some unknown forces is what the plot will center around. On a seiyuu note, my favourite seiyuu couple Maaya Sakamoto (Shinobu in Monogatari series, Shiki in Kara no Kyoukai) and Kenichi Suzumura (Okita in Gintama, Mikiya in Kara no Kyoukai) will be voicing roles, along with old favourites: Mamiko Noto (Benten in Uchouten Kazoku, Sawako in Kimi ni Todoke) and Rikiya Koyama (Director in ServantxService, Kiritsugu in Fate/Zero).

Coppelion takes place in 2016 after a nuclear power plant causes a big catastrophe in Tokyo? Whoa, talk about too soon! Maybe they should have added a few more years onto it? Anyway this looks like another typical “Railgun-ish” series with a team of super-powered teens kicking ass or would this be more like the original season of Zettai Karen Children because of the whole “special forces” part of the plot? So who is starring in this odd anime other than the always popular Hanazawa Kana? Well, we have Haruka Tomatsu, Maaya Sakamoto and Yui Horie, but other than that I think that this series is probably geared towards anime fans that love mindless action and explosions.

Vampires in anime are not really my all time favorite thing ever, but I did enjoy the creative thinking behind space vampires that pilot giant robots in Valvrave and I don’t mind characters like Shinobu of Monogatari. Strike the Blood has a female protagonist assigned to destroy the world’s most powerful vampire called the Fourth Primogenitor. She is an apprentice Sword Shaman wielding the strongest anti-primogenitor spirit spear; however, will the fight go down quickly? I don’t think so.

Strike the Blood looks like a great action series filled with super powered teenagers fighting each other and I love those kinds of themes and with the recent cast announcement it got me quite excited because I noticed one of my favorite actress Hisako Kanemoto will be appearing in this supernatural series, some of you might remember her best as Ika Musume or a certain esper named Kotoura? Along with her I don’t really recognize most of the voice cast but whatever I am willing to give this series a shot! I just hope it does better than Blood C…

So in 2016, during some new ice age thing, 3 girls who are all descendants of Galileo are all on international wanted lists. The reason for the arrest warrant is due to the fact that some mysterious organization is looking for something called the “Galilei Donna”. …That’s it. That’s the anime. There’s not much information about this anime out yet aside from the synopsis I just described, but it’s always interesting seeing the original concept creator and director being the same person. …Though I can’t say that I’ve ever really heard of Umetsu before. Well, now’s the time, I guess. As for the rest of the staff, A-1 is pretty good with animation (so no worries there), and so far the only cast role we know about is Hidaka Rina (recently Last Order in the Toaru Index/Railgun series and less recently Ririchiyo in Inu x Boku SS) , I guess. Hopefully this combination works out for Galilei Donna, since the synopsis sounds interesting. I have a strong feeling that horribly butchered Italian that will be in here (the main characters all live in Tuscany), but at least the plot sounds interesting.

Galilei Donna isn’t the only original anime airing on the consistently-fabulous noitaminA block this year. Let me introduce Samurai Flamenco, a series about Masayoshi Hazama, a 19 year old male model who’s always dreamed of being a superhero. Despite his lack of any special powers, or ability to make a high-tech super suit, he becomes Samurai Flamenco, a hero fighting crime in the name of justice. A police officer named Hidenori Goto ends up learning of his secret identity by chance, and the two wind up getting into all sorts of trouble while fighting crime. Personally, I always finds superhero themed shows turning out to be a bit boring because they’re all relatively about the same thing, but with Takahiro Omori (who’s responsible for the majority of my favorite series, including Kuragehime, Durarara!!, and Baccano!) directing, I have some hope that this will turn into a great, fun series.~

Hello, there, Omori. I have missed you! Your promise to me for a Durarara!! sequel is still pending but I hope you come bearing gifts even if its not under the banner of Brains Base rather Manglobe. The latter has produced some of my favourite anime titles like Samurai Champloo, House of Five Leaves,  Egro Proxy and Break Blade movies series. However, more than the technical staff, what excited me the most is Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki in Gintama, Chamber in Gargantia), as the policeman Goto, who will definitely voice another awesome character with this series. Haven’t really heard Toshiki Masuda in any major role before but I wish him luck in fairing well against Sugitan-giant, who always comes with weird jokes and ad-lib extravaganza (watch an episode of Tokyo Encounters and you’ll understand). Overall, really looking forward to this one.

Recently we have seen an explosion of cute girls doing military things with shows like Strike Witches, Vividred Operation, Upotte, C3bu and the very popular Girls und Panzer! So, what is next in this odd genre tag? How about some cute girls as battleships? Well, more like cute AI controlled battleships if you want to get technical and yes I know that sounds really dumb and believe me it made me roll my eyes, but after seeing some of the trailers I started to get really pumped or should I be? I mean the CGI looks terrible; however, I thought the same thing about Majestic Prince when that first started and now I LOVE it so much! Anyway what else do we know about this series? I really have no clue other than crazy naval battles and it appears that some of the ships have the typical traits found in other shows like having a Tsundere battleship? Which means we might get a Yandere type or a dere type? Oh my god the possibilities are CRAZY! So, look forward to me and Jrow take on this series for the next set of mini-talks on Metanorn.

I have to disagree with my fellow mini-talk partner about the CG, I like what I’ve seen in the trailers. Sanzigen did all the action scenes in Black Rock Shooter and also the Re: Cyborg 009 movie, and those were pretty excellent displays of CG use in anime. CG is typically meh’d because, quite frankly, it does look like crap a majority of the time (cars in Mirai Nikki or whatnot), but I have faith in Sanzigen to put good effort in animating this series. I have been meh on Seiji Kishi’s more recent works (Devil Survivor 2 & Danganronpa), but I’m hoping mainly that it was just source material that I found uninteresting rather than his fingerprints on those series.

  1. BlackBriar says:

Fall is here!! *foams at the mouth* Goodbye, Summer, you’ve been an acceptable distraction for the time being until the best period of the year arrived. That was quick, however. It’s been a year and I can still remember most of the animes that played at that time. Will this catalogue’s comment count exceed that of last season? We’ll surely find out! This has to be the toughest season yet for any anime fan. There are so many appealing choices and a handful of them are sequels. I’m quaking in my boots at the number and feel so overloaded. My poor external hard drive…

    Full Intention:
    Kakumeiki Valvrave 2
    Strike the Blood
    Kill La Kill
    Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
    Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova
    Freezing Vibration
    Infinite Stratos 2
    Diabolik Lovers
Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle S3
    Little Busters! Refrain
    Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!
    Tokyo Ravens
    Walkure Romanze
    Galilei Donna
    Yuusha ni Narenakatta
    Gingitsune
    Outbreak Company
    Coppelion
    BlazBlue: Alter Memory
    Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road
    Kyoukai no Kanata
    Unbreakable Machine-Doll
    Log Horizon
    Pupa
    Kyousougiga

    Maybe:
    Golden Time
    Nagi no Asukara
    Ace of Diamond
    White Album 2
    Miss Monochrome: The Animation
    Koroshiya-san: The Hired Gun
    Samurai Flamenco

There are a handful of seiyuu returning to their previous roles. It’s going to be good seeing and hearing those characters again:

Haruka Tomatsu (Kakumeiki Valvrave’s Saki Rukino, Magi’s Morgiana, Yozakura Quartet’s Touka Kishi)
Yoko Hikasa (Infinite Stratos’ Houki Shinonono)
Kana Hanazawa (Infinite Stratos’ Charlotte Dunois, Freezing Vibration’s Rana Linchen, Magi’s Kougyoku Ren)
Yuki Kaji (Magi’s Alibaba Saluja, Yozakura Quartet’s Akina Hiizumi, Kakumeiki Valvrave’s Q-vier)
    Ryohei Kimura (Magi’s Judal, Kakumeiki Valvrave’s L-Elf)

Even though I’m on my own with one of them, there are three vampire shows to indulge in (Three if you count space vampires). I’ll enlist the aid of my partner Irenesharda to pass judgment on them all, which I hope she’s eager to help out. Hehehehe… Also, since the vamps are male this time, this might be the answer to Karakuri’s prayers regarding the “female vampire bias” in anime/manga where when vamps are concerned, about 95% of the population is female. 😉

Strike the Blood: I read the first four chapters of the manga and found it interesting. Since apparently 7 volumes have already been released, I hope the anime has more than 12 episodes to spare and so far, the lead girl looks a cut above the typical generic female lead stereotype. By manga comparison with the few chapters I’ve read, this is more my style of story over Blood Lad.

Kakumeiki Valvrave: This undoubtedly has to be the most anticipated anime we have on the list. Especially after that epic cliffhanger ending from last season. The second season couldn’t come fast enough! It’s a train wreck that makes things up as it goes along but it’s a hell of an enjoyable one. Can’t wait to see what happens to those who answered “Yes” to “Do you resign as a human?”.

Phi Brain: It’s that time again, Overcooled. Time to take hold of the reins and lead the Phi Brain cult but first you must be purged. You have been tainted by temptations such as Psycho-Pass and Attack on Titan during Phi Brain’s absence and that cannot be allowed. Looks like my hunch about the third season was right. This time, Kaito is facing off against an enemy that’s a girl. It’s been exactly two years since the first season. God, I’m getting old! NOOOO!!

    • Kyokai says:

Why am I not surprised to get your comment as first? For this one, I had to kick spammy three times after it let go. Oh lord, Fall brings lots of burdens, including the bloated list. I hope your external HD prospers and doesn’t break down anytime soon because where would we crazy anime watchers be without them?

Few notes, Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road will not be releasing in fall so that’s one off your list. Your favourite seiyuu are appearing in moaaar roles as per the round up… Don’t you just want to curl up somewhere and pray for a time turner? But no worries, I know you’ll somehow fair well and survive. xD

      • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha!! Always expect your Resident Vampire Lover to lurk around waiting for an opportunity, especially when a post this tempting shows up! The comment was premeditated, to be honest. I knew the catalogue was coming and felt like rambling at the time so I set it up a while back and modified it based on what I saw here. Though seeing it this size was unexpected. Not to worry, my external hard drive is still going strong. It hasn’t failed me yet.

So that’s one series off the list but that hardly does anything to make the load any lighter. The number of potential good shows is still mind boggling. Personally, I feel that Fall is constantly the best season of the year and Spring for a close second place. There are times I wonder how I’m able to find time to watch these shows. Most of the time, opportunity presents itself.

    • Namika says:

Tainted by Attack on Titan and Psycho-Pass???? *O* How could you say such a thing? 😀

      • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha!! That she was lead astray by awesome shows and hardly anyone can blame her. Now it’s time to give Phi Brain its due. The cult’s back and needs its leader.

        • Namika says:

Hmmmm. I haven’t watched Phi Brain yet. I’ll probab ly do so, since I’m pretty much on an anime diet this week, since everything I was watching ended.

          • Kyokai says:

You should definitely give it a run. It’s a lovely wacky anime.

          • BlackBriar says:

Phi Brain is an interesting enough series. If you’re going to watch it, then you’re going to have to catch up quickly. This is the third season that will be airing and the two previous seasons both have 25 episodes.

          • Foshizzel says:

Phi Brain for the freaking win! Best series <3

            • Overcooled says:

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY SUDOKU *BOWS*

            • Namika says:

              Do not worry 😀
Well, I’m probably not gonna make it to the release of the third season, cud I don’t really have enough time to sit down and marathon it. But I’ll watch it either way.

    • Irenesharda says:

Wow is that a lot, how you get to it all I don’t know. I am really hoping Strike the Blood is good. And of course Valvrave is my most highly anticipated. I’ve never seen Phi Brain, maybe I will check it out later. I only handle one older series at a time. Right now, I’m going through the weirdness that is Steins;Gate. I’ve only seen episode 1 so far, but it already is trying to warp my mind. o_o

      • Irenesharda says:

After taking a look at Phi-Brain, it seems a lot like Yugioh, before the addition of card games, or like a series made of only the traps in Indiana Jones, or even National Treasure. It exists in that silly land where people take puzzles and card games as fights of life and death, with plenty of melodrama and product placement to round it all off. 😛

Well, I’ll give it a try. I liked Yugioh, despite how silly it was, so this looks like it’s in the same field.

        • BlackBriar says:

It does give off some heavy Yu-Gi-Oh! vibes and the puzzles seem like its version of the Duel Monsters battles. There were times when the Phi Brain posts came out we’d compare the characters. Kaito is obviously Yugi, Gammon would be seen as Seto Kaiba because they’re rivals but don’t want to admit they’re becoming friends and I would say their enemy in the first season is the Phi Brain equivilant of Maximillion Pegasus and the one for the second season as Marik.

          • Irenesharda says:

After watching episode 1, I can see what you’re talking about. This really IS a rip-off of Yu-Gi-Oh! right down to the character stereotypes, golden ancient Deus Ex Machina object, and convoluted, idiotic plot and goals. I can already identify this shows Yugi, Tea, Joey, Tristan, Kaiba, and Bakura.

However, unfortunately, Yugioh was one of my first gateway animes along with Digimon and Pokemon. I watched and enjoyed that show way back in it’s heyday in the early 2000s. I watch it now, and while enjoyable, it’s not nearly as good as I thought it was back when I was watching it religiously high school. I guess, I kind of outgrew it.

Phi Brain I also feel the same way, like it is really silly and annoying, and I feel as if I’ve outgrown it. But hey, if you guys like it, go ahead! I don’t see how it could have somehow garnered 3 seasons, but I guess seeing how long the Yugioh franchise is still going on, I guess that’s not really that surprising at all.

      • BlackBriar says:

I tackled 27 animes last season, 23 from Summer and 4 ongoing from Spring. It’s not easy. What I do is watch the series in bursts. What I do is go to the site where I download the episodes, cyber12.com (because watching on an anime site feels so primitive since I found it), pick a handful of those on my list if available and if I see there’s some free time on my hands, I go through them one by one.

Valvrave is one of the most anticipated but it’s a bummer it won’t show until the second week of October. I want my space vampires and their mechs. That is still a strange combination to wrap my mind around. Would you give up your humanity to pilot such a machine?

I read the manga for Strike the Blood to the most recent chapter and obviously liked it (More like I’d easily be taken in by almost any vampire manga) and that bit by bit, the story gets solid and interesting. Another one of its good points is that the female lead is no pushover but I won’t spoil the rest for you. I think you’ll like her background. I do hope the studio animates the material properly though it’s nothing but wishful thinking.

You’re going to have your hands full with Phi Brain because this is the third season coming our way after a year’s break. Both previous seasons have 25 episodes. The first aired Fall 2011 and with the second starting just as the first ended. Overcooled spent a whole year blogging one glorious mess of a show. One hell of a milestone if you ask me so she should be very proud (This coming from her loyal servant, no less. Hehehehe…). If you’re fond of seiyuus, here’s something to motivate you. The enemy of the first season is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai (aka Makishima from Psycho-Pass and Ichimiya from Servant x Service) and the one for the second by Hiroshi Kamiya (aka Levi from Shingeki no Kyojin).

        • Highway says:

I don’t see how you guys can wait to watch shows. There’s almost nothing that I wait more than a day from when it’s available. The only things are if multiple things come out on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, since I have WoW raids those nights, and can really only watch 1 or 2 shows.

I think I did only end up with 22 or 23 shows this past season, but I did clear out some backlog shows: True Tears, Sasameki Koto, Aoi Hana, some of Fate/Zero plus some rewatches (and for those who hadn’t heard, the Photo Kano BD releases have added scenes, mostly kisses! So if you want to see Aki and Kazuya kiss (pretty well done) there you go!).

  2. KLACMAN says:

well give i had buffet watching of summer anime like maybe total of 16 or more on the summer.

    • Kyokai says:

16 titles are still a lot. Don’t worries though, we will keep you posted on the good ones to watch with our first impressions. xD

      • KLACMAN says:

well yea give 16 summer i seen were let a bunch give some of most tempt me a lot give watched on

at least trying lower my subs this fall cause need to catch-up on my dub watching.

    • Foshizzel says:

I will probably be in the same boat with all these great shows!

      Girls wrestling ftw <3

      • BlackBriar says:

        Girls wrestling ftw

Just think of the provocative wrestling moves the girls are going to use. Hehehehe…. It’s the guy’s turn to enjoy some “sports”.

  3. zztop says:

Definitely Valvrave for me! I’m very eager to see how s1’s mysteries will be answered.(The ongoing mystery/conspiracy was what made me follow Valvrave in the first place.)
Monobear also wishes to see if the despair inflicted on Module 77 can rival Hope’s Peak, upupupupupu~

Not yet committed to anything else, although Kyokai no Kanata, Strike the Blood and Tokyo Ravens sound promising…

    • Kyokai says:

Valvrave will sure have some surprises for us. So, no worries there. Seeing trailers, your choices look interesting. Though, we’ll keep you updated with our impressions to see how the fall shows fair.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Valrave! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  4. Japaninspired says:

KYOUKAI NO KANATA!! Give it to me already! I just cant wait, love the books!

    And also Pupa and Kyousougiga.

Also a bunch of anime’s that I’m not sure I’m going to watch, but still, quite a lot of shows got me interested.

    • Kyokai says:

Kyoukai no Kanata looks really good; though, I’m just not tying too much hope to it because then disappointment happens. I heard rumours of Pupa being a short series but we’ll see as even the air dates haven’t been announced yet.

      • Japaninspired says:

I have no idea how it’ll turn out, but for me, Kyoukai no Kanata really reminds Hyouka. It’s a lovely book, but I originally got it because I thought it was a horror book, but it turned out to be a slice-of-life with horror and a little bit of comedy kind of thing. But I still enjoyed it a lot.

Pupa is a horror manga. To bad that it’s hard to read it online, and it has 4 volumes but I read only 1. It’s actually really sad, since the main characters have a really hard life, but the art is amazing, it really is scary. It’s a bit strange and has silly parts, but it’s pretty good, otherwise I would’ve just droped it.

    • Foshizzel says:

I can’t wait to see Kyoukai no Kanata! I am curious to see how KyoAni does action scenes because I loved the fake battles of Chu2koi~

Kyousougiga finally gets a series! I loved the OVAs and short episodes lol and Rie Kugimiya’s character is p much Kagura from Gintama xD

      • Japaninspired says:

I think Kyoukai no Kanata will be a lot like “Chuunibyo”. Since most of it will be like a slice-of-life (at least the books give a feeling like that) with quite a lot of talks, action, horror, emotional parts, and a bit of humor(well, nah, it’s a lot of humor). Personally to me, it really reminds Hyouka. Which isn’t a bad thing for me, I love Hyouka, the novels and anime are awesome.
It’s just that I think the PV gave the wrong feeling of what the story really is like.

Haha, I loved the little Ova’s too. I was so sad that they were like 5 minutes(if not less). The characters are awesome, and it really reminds Gintama. I just can’t wait, I was so shocked when I heard that Kyousougiga was getting a full anime. ^^

        • sonicsenryaku says:

Im sure the slice of life elements are going to stay (this is kyoani after all) but from the interviews i read, the anime is a darker take on the LN….mirai is really in the shitter and much more tragic in the anime version

          • Japaninspired says:

Yeah, it is dark, and sad. The novels are actually pretty amazing, they’re so easy and fun to read, but on the same side it has a lot of emotional moments that get to you.

    • Sumairii says:

They way I see it, Kyoukai no Kanata is Kyoani’s way of giving us another action anime after FMP (Chuu2byo came close with its little delusional battles). And that happened a lonnnnnnnng time ago. Needless to say, I am just as excited for it. =)

      • Japaninspired says:

Yeah, that’s why I said that it will probably remind Chuu2byo. It’s a slice of life with a lot of talks and nice humor, but has horror/action in it and is pretty sad.

    • Namika says:

Heeey, no Kuroko no Basket??? 😀

      • Japaninspired says:

Haha, yes and no, since I already read the manga as far as it is, so the anime cant surprise me much.

But I’m still going to watch it 🙂

        How did you know?

        • Namika says:

I can’t believe, that the manga can be equally as satisfying as the anime. Those matches! *O*

How did I know what? You didn’t list KnB in your comment, didn’t you? o-o

          • Japaninspired says:

Haha, it’s cuz I can easily emagine the manga move and hear the characters voices, it’s all in my head after the 1st season. xD But I would like to see epic Akashi-san in movement.

No, I mean how did you know I was even interested in Kuroko no Basket? I never said that I like it.

  5. Japaninspired says:

I’m so glad Overcooled-san will be blogging Kyoukai no Kanata and Pupa. I just can’t say how happy I am to hear that ^^

    • Namika says:

Another dark show (well, it’s supposed to be really dark, right) with OC 😀 Mata yoroshiku ne, Cool-chan ^_^

      • BlackBriar says:

Shiki, Psycho-Pass, Attack on Titan and now Pupa. Overcooled sure has a streak blogging dark animes.

        • Overcooled says:

Awww thanks for looking forward to me blogging stuff you guys like! You made my day hehe. But yes, it’s not official who gets what yet since there’s a lot of us and there’s bound to be overlap. The only show I can say I’m certainly blogging (because I’d kill someone if I didn’t get it) is Phi Brain. =w= That’s just a special case though ehehehe

    • Kyokai says:

Currently, the blogging list hasn’t been finalized yet for the team. The thing that you guys don’t know is that Team Meta goes through an internal Holy Grail War to land up choice anime titles every season. So, the possibly blogging only has interested member names but final list is something you will discover later as the FIs roll in. 😉

      • Namika says:

I imagine, deciding that every season 😀 But OC was the one to review most dark shows in the past. :3

      • Karakuri says:

        PFFTAHAHAHA “Holy Grail War”

…That is kind of fitting, isn’t it? Though the last one was pretty peaceful…

      • Highway says:

It’s always been peaceful since I’ve been here…

        • BlackBriar says:

Are you sure that isn’t just your opinion and war is raging behind your back? 😉

          • Highway says:

No, see, they said it was peaceful just up there, didn’t they? But it also helps for me that none of the rest of them want romance shows (unless they’re done by JC Staff).

            • Karakuri says:

Things have been more peaceful since we implemented the Tag Team thing on a regular basis. xD

            • Foshizzel says:

I have to team up with Kara once again! Its a trend we have to continue on right Kara? xD

            • Overcooled says:

I go through a really elaborate planning process to try and steal my favourite shows, but the effectiveness of my strategy really varies. So lol it really is a war for me.

            • Highway says:

You guys problem is liking the same shows as other people. 😉

Or maybe it’s that my standards for picking shows to blog are lower…

            • skylion says:

My standards by all seeming: Is it moe? Ok, I’m probably gonna watch…

      • Japaninspired says:

A War? Really? I had no idea… O_O Good luck on getting the shows that you want.

      • skylion says:

Speaking of Holy Grail war, I just finished Fate/Zero last week. It’s now one of my all time favorite series, the “Kerry” story floored me pretty hard. And…I got to recommend it to a more casual anime fan.

  6. skylion says:

Well, I have at least 25 new shows to watch; down from Summer’s 28. I hope the places I found time still exist as the leaves begin to change and fall. I find myself busy this weekend, so will have to carve out the time for a first impression of my own.

    • Kyokai says:

If your summer list was 28, then I can guarantee that it’s going to go over this number.

      • skylion says:

My summer list was actually 27 with two shorts (and two from the spring). What is backing that guarantee? You guys gonna snag me into something?

        • BlackBriar says:

It’s part of their job description. 😉

          • skylion says:

And it isn’t without resume. I got talked into hanging in there for Danganronpa.

            • BlackBriar says:

Well, I got talked into hanging in there with Silver Spoon and I’m glad I did. It was a good series so there will be anticipation for the second half in Winter 2014.

            • skylion says:

I loooved Silver Spoon. I’m such a nerd, I love seeing stuff like that.

And…I got my parents, born in the southeastern mountains of Kentucky in the late 1930’s to watch a few episodes. They laughed pretty hard when the characters hit the bear. And my Dad would point to my Mom and say, “Hey, you’re Mother just swung the chicken around by the neck, right?”, “Oh, yeah, she just gave em a whirl”

            • Highway says:

It really was a good show for just watching along. I think everyone could feel like Hachiken.

            • skylion says:

..and Pork Bowl is sooooo delicious…

    • Foshizzel says:

What are we going to do with all this anime!? I can’t wait to see some new stuff xD

      • BlackBriar says:

Our endurance as anime fans is being tested and the trial is brutal. The anticipation is killing me. I want to see Valvrave and Strike the Blood really badly.

        • Karakuri says:

I was excited for Strike the Blood. …Until I read the first chapter or so of the manga.

          • BlackBriar says:

It gets better the more chapters you go into. Trust me!!

            • skylion says:

This is good to know, as the premise sounds of great interest…

            • Karakuri says:

Thanks BB. If the anime goes well, maybe I’ll go back to the manga.

            • BlackBriar says:

No problem. And to reinforce what I said, I read all the way to the most recent chapter this morning and really has gotten better.

      • skylion says:

Yeah, it looks like I’ll get to my list at some point tomorrow afternoon. As it is, I am quite eager for Galilee Donna. It has a R.O.D. feel. And Minami-ke’s Uuchida on a super scooter…

  7. belatkuro says:

    >mfw 8 shows coming out on Thursday/Friday and I’m watching all of them
    >mfw I counted 26 shows I will pick up
    >mfw I still plan to pick more when I feel like it
Why am I doing this to myself?!
Goodbye social life(as if I had one in the first place…)

Sumairii, Infinite Stratos is definitely a sequel and not a reboot. The new characters are from the later volumes.

    • Kyokai says:

No worries man, you are not alone. Fall does this to the best of us ._.

    • Sumairii says:

I’ve since heard the same thing, but thanks for the heads up. Honestly the deep dark secret about these catalogs is that the process takes so long from inception to publication that some of the things I initially wrote are based on out-of-date speculation rather than up-to-date information.

But regardless I’m happy for more IS. =)

    • Foshizzel says:

Moar Infinite Stratos! Let the battle of best girl begin because clearly Charles is the bestest evar <3

  8. Di Gi Kazune says:

I will have to say, I will be watching none. Magi doesn’t count and may be sporadic. Nothing caught my eye. Wait, I’m already watching one: Korra.

    • d-LaN says:

Wow, some1 is trying to compete with Highway hipster status XD

Does Korra/RWBY count as anime though? WAIT that is NOT a question. Plz don’t derail this thread.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

        KA-CHUNK! Derailment occured!

        Too late 😛

If you use the proper Japanese definition of “anime”… then yes. Studio Pierrot animated part of Book 2. Korean Studio Mir animated the rest.

And currently there is no competition unless the watchlist is 0 or negative. 😛

      • Highway says:

Wait wait wait, I’m a hipster now? I’ll go along with “hippie” (although I’ve cut my hair short for a while, I still wear Birkenstocks, recycle more than throw away, etc), but I don’t know if I’ve ever been a hipster.

But I’ll probably be up over 30 shows watched this season, at least that’s what I’ll start out with. I haven’t even bothered counting them. I think I finished 23 last season.

        • skylion says:

You were not watching anime before it was cool…

          • Foshizzel says:

fufufufu I find it impossible to not watch anime! Then again people have jobs and irl stuffs so I can imagine balancing that and anime is tough.

            • skylion says:

I’ve pretty much worked 45-55 hour weeks, watched dozens of shows, read, socialize, and spend time with my family. I’m a bit of a workaholic, however. But I am a spend my time my way oholic, too…

        • d-LaN says:

Its one of those “running gag” or “never live it down” jokes tht I use sometimes. Don’t take ot too seriously =)

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

Let’s see whether your proselyting can convert 1 show to many more shows. 😛 I let other people do the hard work sampling stuff that is in my maybe list.

        • BlackBriar says:

I had a total of 27 animes for Summer. 23 new ones and 4 ongoing from Spring. Man, that was some trouble sticking to a personalized schedule. I’d watch the most interesting animes first.

  9. joojoobees says:

Definitely some interesting things to watch this season.

llvln: “KyoAni, a studio that just needs to get out of its own way.”

And for me that is why I am most anticipating ‘Kyoukai no Kanata’. Kyoto Animation has the talent to create a masterpiece — will they do it? Or shoot themselves in the foot with a moe-gun?

Also I have been looking forward to seeing ‘Patema Inverted’ for a long time. Director Yoshiura knows how to create interesting alternate worlds, and the “day before” episodes were all really well animated.

    • d-LaN says:

To be fair, their moe stuff is pretty decent. But I know ppl prefer awesomely animated action show though.

      • skylion says:

Well, I’m an unabashed fan, the moe stuff is awesome…with cake! However, I think this new show is going to be pretty hot.

    • Foshizzel says:

I have been looking forward to seeing ‘Patema Inverted’ for a long time. Director Yoshiura knows how to create interesting alternate worlds, and the “day before” episodes were all really well animated.

Same I was like what? They are hanging upside down?! Awesome? LOLOL

  10. Liza says:

My current watch list is st 24. There’s seems to be a lot of good stuff coming out this season! 😀 I just really hope I can keep up with them all once NaNoWriMo starts. >_>

But finally, MORE PUZZLES! 😀 That’s the one I’m most excited for, hands down!

    • Kyokai says:

Good luck with NaNoWriMo if you are planning to participate. I think every year and then just never participate. Oh well, at least there are puzzles to look forward to!

      • skylion says:

I took me two years of planning, drafting outlines, the actually writing, and then two more drafts to write a novel. I’ve done NaNoWriMo before, and it’s good practice for the real thing.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhhh? You do the NaNoWrimo thing as well? I might give it another shot but we shall see! Between all the first impression posts and my own stuffs it will get tough but I wish you luck~

      FK YA MORE PUZZLE TIMES!

      • skylion says:

It took me three Novembers of NaNo to get into the swing, I just kept losing track of time, and just wasn’t into writing like that. I did finish in 2009, but didn’t feel it was a good effort.

Give it a shot, failure is an option, but you do learn a great deal from it.

        • Liza says:

Yeah, you do learn a lot. I failed the first year because I got bored of what I was writing but I did it last year and I dropped most of the series I was watching except for a select few. I’ve still never gone back to watch them which is sad…

          • skylion says:

You pick up what become important…

            • Liza says:

True but I’m sad I never got around to finishing Jormungand S2, Little Busters and Zetsuen no Tempest.

            • BlackBriar says:

Last Fall wasn’t as packed as this year but it was still a challenge to keep with some good series. Somehow, I managed to watch most of them.

              Fall 2012:
              Jormungand: Perfect Order
              Robotics;Notes
              PSYCHO-PASS
              BTOOOM!
              Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
              Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
              Zetsuen no Tempest
              Code: Breaker
              [K]
              Shinsekai Yori
              Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!
Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne (OniiAi)
              Girls und Panzer
              Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
              To LOVE-Ru Darkness
              Little Busters!

It was only during Summer 2013 that I decided to watch Little Busters! because I found out another season was on its way. The episodes have been laying in my external hard drive for almost a year. So don’t feel bad about following stuff. I still haven’t finished Tamako Market.

    • Overcooled says:

Everyone else thinks we’re crazy…but WE know that Phi Brain is the anime of the year. We know better.

      • BlackBriar says:

It’s because they haven’t seen the ways of Phi Brain. This is why we must educate them. 😛

        • Liza says:

Oh yes, we must convert everyone to the greatness of Phi Brain. 😀 I think some fake Orpheus rings should do it!

          • BlackBriar says:

We should use modified Orpheus rings. The ones the Orpheus Order used screws you up mentally then the body takes second hand damage. We want to attract followers, not repel those with potential. 😀

            • Liza says:

True! But I think the mind control is required to make people see the ways of puzzles!

      • d-LaN says:

That implies that OC aren’t crazy to began with 😛

  11. Rayearth says:

Did you guys ever do a Fall catalogue for 2012?

    • BlackBriar says:

No, there wasn’t. Unfortunately, they were so busy at the time they were unable to make a Fall Anime Catalogue for 2012.

    • Kyokai says:

Yep, that was one busy year but yeah, I just noticed 2012 and have corrected it on the main image.

    • Foshizzel says:

Nope that was a dark time at Metanorn… Just kidding! there just wasn’t enough time but thankfully with sites like AniCharts we can get on the lists faster~

  12. Namika says:

Looking at you guys, I’m so glad that I live where I live. The temperature fell down a couple of weeks ago and it’s like heaven. I love fall so much. For the weather and for the good shows that tend to come out in this season, of course :3

    Kuroko no Basket
. OH GOD I thought I wouldn’t live this year through 😀 I’ve missed this show so much and now it’s only one week left, yaaaaaaaay~ HNGGGGGGGG~ I’m such a happy fangirl right now ^w^ so much interesting stuff must happeeeen~ Interhigh, we’re coming~ And I also can’t wait to see Teppei in a game. Though about the silliness of the first season, it wasn’t actually that silly. My BFF plays basketball so I asked him about several techniques I thought were kinda impossible like the cyclone pass and stuff. Surprizingly, the only moves that weren’t real was when Kuroko punched the ball during the match with Shutoku, and Kise’s strike from the back. Others were real, and he even showed me some videos, too. So it was not that ridiculous. Well, if you just ignore the fact that the characters are all between 15 and 18 years.

First of all, I’m definitely watching Coppelion. But man, it has quite a similar feel to K, doesn’t it? The atmosphere is practically the same. That’s not very good, if you ask me, but I’m watching this regardless. *graphics whore in action*
Samurai Flamenco looks intriguing, especially because of Omori Takahiro.
Pupa is an automatic must just because of the genre. I just hope it goes well and they don’t push it too far with the incest-y kind of thing.
Then, Kyoukai no Kanata. It looks like it’ll be a bit darker than most of KyoAni’s works that I know, so that’s interesting.
Then, I’ll try Golden Time for to have something more light and fun to watch. One thing though. Was the voice in the trailer really Ishikawa Kaito? O_O Red’s voice? But it sounds so different. And the guy is younger than me too. jiiiiiiiiiii =3=
Next comes Diabolik Lovers, but I’m already watching it :3 It’s not as sadistic and cruel as I expected though. Well, that may be the case only with Ayato but somehow, I doubt it. Since the rating is PG13. But man, I can’t listen to Ayato without a smile. A perverted one. I remembered his voice when I watched Koisuru Boukun, so… yeah. If you know that one, you’ll see where I’m coming from.
Meganebu ^w^ NO MEGANE NO LIFE! And I wear glasses, too. :3 This show looks so beautiful, I can’t stand iiiiiit~ Can’t wait to see it. Pretty art, plus lots of megane-danshi that are proud to wear their spectacles. Kya ^^
Ace of Diamond looks nice. I’m still not a fan of sports anime, but I’ll check it out. Who knew I would love KnB so much? Maybe I’ll love this one too.
Voice-acting heroes who protect the peace for Earth and Otaku?? 😀 Sounds nice.

So, that’s about it. 8 series. More than I thought and usually watch, but I’ll drop several of these, probably. As I always do.
I can’t help but be impressed by the size of the releases lift year after year. And what’s with the sports anime this season, really? 😀 There are so many! But I’m kinda thankful that there are a lot of shows that interest me, because every show I watched, every single one ended THIS WEEK. Minus Brothers Conflict. And the titans are ending tomorrow, too. TT^TT

    • BlackBriar says:

First of all, I’m definitely watching Coppelion. But man, it has quite a similar feel to K, doesn’t it? The atmosphere is practically the same. That’s not very good, if you ask me, but I’m watching this regardless.

Well, it is from GoHands, the studio behind [K] so it makes sense the overall atmosphere is similar. I hear it’s a green filter instead of a blue one this time.

      • Namika says:

Yeah, that’s why the touch is the same.
Well, it doesn’t look AS monotonous as K. The whole thing was blue, even red and green were freaking blue 😀 Though I admit, I liked it a lot. Coppelion feels a liiiiittle bit warmer.

        • Sumairii says:

One thing to note is that Coppelion does have a source material base and isn’t being written by GoHands. So this time we shouldn’t get a trainwreck of a plot, unless the source is that way ofc.

    • skylion says:

Seitokai Yakuindomo was also a Go Hands production…mild filters here and there. I was to busy laughing that the double entendres and filthy humour to notice thou…

  13. d-LaN says:

I miss the rainy season 🙁 And now I have to stay behind to resit my failed papers until I pass so this most likely means less anime time. Oh well. Can’t wait to see which of those show will be buried in my backlog and forgotten eventually!

    Currently watching: DiaboLICK Wifebeaters
-Might drop it when season start or when my NOPE button is activated.

    Confirmed:

    KnK & KlK
-Looks awesome, that all. And the kanjis they used for the character name in KlK is… something alright.

    Log Horizon
-Because apparently I’m the only one who liked SAO despite its faults. That and I liked wht I saw in the LN. One word of warning, Show ▼

And lol, a drinking game of every-time SAO pops up in relation to LH sound dangerous 😛 Why is this in SOL section though?

    Valvrave S2 & LB! Refrain
-Seen the S1 and loved it so naturally I have to watch the S2. Can’t wait for the FEELS and PLOT TWEST.
Oh and apparently LB! EX anime is green lighted. Sashimi route yay!

    Nagi no Asakura
-MY GOD the amount of Mari Okada/PAW/this anime in general whining in the forums rivals the Free!/kyoani thread. Personally, I like wht I saw of it and if I can survive bad TVB dramas in the past, I can survive this.

    Interested:

Meganebu (This look way more like K-ON with guys then Free!. I might be wrong though)
Strike the Blood & Tokyo Ravens (Animation & overall style reminds me of Index. Me like)
    Golden time
    Unbreakable Machine Doll
    IS2
Outbreak Company (I will watch (almost) any anime with otaku satire/jab/ref)
Blazblue (No Azrael no deal =P Will still give it a few episode anyway)
    Arpeggio of Blue Steel
    Coppelion (Psycho Misaka wut)
Female Wrestling: the anime (I watch it for the DEEP PLOT and ENGAGING BACKSTORY, I swear!)

    I’m not sure:

    YQ: Hana no Uta
-I still can’t get over the design/artstyle butchering. They barely resemble Suzuhito Yasuda design in the manga. T_T But I will give it a few episode to see if it can change my mind. or I should just watvj the OVAs.
……I never noticed I can be this picky when it comes to adaptation.

    Gundam Build Fighters
-I’m only here for the (slightly butchered) Yasuda design. Let see if it keep me entertained or not.

    pupa
-Not really a fan of horror or guro. Will see if I can live through it or not.

    Galilei Donna/Samurai Flamenco/Yuusha ni Narenakatta
-Will check out reviews/a few episodes to see if it my piece of cake.

    • Namika says:

Well, it’s only been 2 episodes but Diabolik doesn’t seem very cruel to me. Plus, it’s rated PG13 so I don’t think there will be a lot of bullying and cruelty.

      • skylion says:

You are not the only one that really liked SAO….It’s one of my favorites.

        • d-LaN says:

          Good to know 🙂

I wonder, will Phantom Bullet redeem the show for the haters? AHAHAHAHAHA silly me that hatebase is abt as bad as the FF13 hatebase.

      • d-LaN says:

Let just see how much can the anime get away animating cuz one of the route ending is pretty…. NOPE D:

  14. Foshizzel says:

Hisako Kanemoto with 5 roles this season with Tokyo Ravens, Strike the Blood, Gingitsune, Sekai de Ichiban and Kara no Kyoukai movie? AWESOME I love her moe voice xDD

  15. Hazou says:

    Phi Brain hell yes!

It’s the only reason why I live these days.

    • BlackBriar says:

Now I’m curious. What has been sustaining you since the second season ended?

    • Overcooled says:

Yes! Phi Brain keeps us all alive. Without Phi Brain I would not exist.

      • BlackBriar says:

Ok, now I’m asking you. What has been sustaining you before you were bent, broken and converted by Phi Brain? As Hyouka’s Chitanda says: “I’m curious”. Not to mention that you’ve been surviving pretty well since the second season ended almost exactly a year ago.

  16. Gecko says:

Well, with the start of fall anime, I’m going to have to say goodbye. I had a lot of fun the last 2(ish) years commenting here, but my life is getting pretty busy now that I’m starting university (I’ve made it through three weeks). That’s why I haven’t commented in a while- I’ve been focusing on getting to the future I want. And that means marathoning anime every few weeks when I have time, while I work hard day to day.

For sure, I gained a lot from commenting here. I got to see more anime than I would have normally, and had a lot of fun commenting with you guys. It took me a year to get up the courage to even post a single comment, and for a while, it was scary to see if there were any replies. But I overcame that barrier with time. I’ve seen now that there are a lot more barriers in my way. I’m still pretty shy and quiet in real life. I get scared easily by loud noises, and have trouble looking at test scores and essay grades. But I keep telling myself that because I took the plunge on Metanorn, I got to have a lot of fun talking to people about anime. So I’m going to keep taking more plunges in order to keep finding more fun stuff in life.

But I’m no Lelouch or Hajime or shoujo manga hero – I can’t do it all. And I can’t only focus on a single goal, like Ringo or Eren. My goal, I suppose you could say, has many parts to it. And since I want to accomplish it, I will have to say goodbye to my internet presence at this time. I don’t want to, but I have to.

Keep going, Meta Team! I’ll be cheering you on, even if I don’t comment or visit the site as much. I will never forget you, ever. Forever.

    Show ▼

    • Kyokai says:

DAAAWWWW! We will miss you, Gecko! But as you are going on a good mission, there will be no complaints rather lots of cheers. So, kick ass in uni and keep up with not only studies but your much needed entertainment.

A piece of advise from the 20+ club president, if you want to achieve something, never give up. Hardships are part of life and they are there to test us but the more we challenge ourselves, the more life becomes worthwhile so keep plunging on! 🙂

Anyways, drop by any time you want as the Meta Team will still be here doing our thang. xD

    • Sumairii says:

As Kyokai says, we’ll always be here. I hope your transition to university life goes smoothly and you get to where you want to be in life. But don’t forget to have some fun while you’re at it.

    • Overcooled says:

Ahhh the jump from high school to university is rough so I totally get where you’re coming from. You have to prioritize and schedule things so you can achieve the things you want. Just reach out to others and I’m sure they’ll realize how awesome you are. Don’t worry, as long as you work hard…you’ll do fine. In school and in life. Best of luck, Gecko. We’ll miss you!

    • Karakuri says:

Have fun with school Gecko!! We’ll definitely miss you! <3

  17. skylion says:

Summer in the Mid West was fair mild; But this rugged Indoorsman always looks forward to the brisk Autumn. It looks like my list is 22 shows as of this writing. I may add one or two more, or I may drop. That is part of what makes this hobby so exciting…..you never know what is around the bend.

    The Action Circuit.

    Looking Very Forward To:

Galilei Donna. I generally like the stuff A-1 produces. I’m still an unabashed SAO fan, and I love them to pieces for iDOLM@STER. But, I wish they would have done better with VividRed. So for this, I am instantly attracted to the classic character design (and it looks like Uchida escaped that awful time vortex all the Minimi-Ke characters are trapped in if the design for youngest sister Hozuki Ferrari is any indication). The noitaminA block has produced some of my favorite shows these past three years I got back into anime, so that’s two good things. Plus, for three good things, the PV gives me such a R.O.D the TV vibe.

Unbreakable Machine-Doll. Yep, got that OreShura vibe right off the bat. It has clockpunk/steampunk/machinepunk/battlepunk thing going on, and I’m a big fan of that genre mix. But, like Sumairii points out, it looks like it will suffer from dumb MC syndrome.

Yozakura Quartet. I’m glad I can get in on the ground floor. I’ve not seen the original stuff but for a few clips on Youtube and it looks like this gang is having soo much fun. And yes, Fosh, listening to the cast is gonna be pretty sweet. Also, I hope you guys Tag Team the show, cause…twice the fun.

And yessssssss. Valvrave 2. I hope they keep the so bad it’s good vibe going. Yes, the storytelling could improve, and that would be a good choice, but….why does it even need to?

    Interested In.

Kill la Kill. Unlike being a KyoAni fanboy, I am not that big a GAINAX/Trigger/Khara La Trois Studios fan. While I can say that the animation itself is amazing, and of such high technical value, I’ve always thought that general production was very overindulgent. Yes, the moe moe kyun KyoAni fanboy calls another studio overindulgent. I won’t flog it but; Panty Stocking and Garterbelt was cool, but just a collection of sheer WTFery (HEY, SKYLION, NICHIJOU IS CALLING!) I kid. This looks like a fun show, but I’m prepared for a lot of over the top for the sake of it.

Samurai Flamenco. I’m willing to try out a model that wants to be a superhero. Cause why not?

Coppelion. Not to convinced as of yet, but willing to give it a whirl.

Strike the Blood. Again, another shot.

IS 2. Fosh’s intense interest is getting to me.

    Will Take Some Convincing.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel. I smell more VividRed, so there better at least be some lecherous stuffed animal in there somewhere to make with the laughs.

    • BlackBriar says:

I’m telling you now. There are two characters in Yozakura Quartet where I’m staking my claim. So back off! I’ve already got an electrified fence in all directions waiting for you. 😉

      • skylion says:

I did my research, and I’m guessing the Tatbayashi Sisters. You’ve thrust with a hasty stroke. Had you not pointed it out, I would have let matters lay. But since you bristle such, what can I do but challenge? Electrified fence, eh? I could super call in a Kinuhata from Railgun to get to my goal…

      • d-LaN says:

Go ahead and claim the VampireMermaids sisters. I have my eye on the werewolves some1 else.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yozakura Quartet: yes, yes and yESSSSSSS! I can’t wait to see my favorite cast of characters once again, but most of all I am looking forward to some story progression <3

Kill la kill: FK YA Gainax/Trigger doing it big even though C3BU was hit or miss for most of us I am confident Trigger will knock it out of the park! I just hope we get some awesome action~

IS 2: That series is all about rooting for your favorite girl because the plot is so dumb that fans only watch for the girls and not the action! Also the MC-kun is so freaking dumb...

  18. skylion says:

    The Fantasy Club

    Give it to Me NOW!

Kyoukai no Kanata. Well, at long last poor headdesk sufferers will receive a much needed break. KyoAni is finally throwing in a life preserver to save them from the sea of moe. LOL. From the previews we get some of the typical charm offensive they love to lavish detail upon, but this time we get a cool, dark, visually stunning work of fantasy and magic powered combat to drink in. Been wanting this show since they put it in a commercial back in early ’12.

    Looking Very Forward To

Nagi no Asukara. Yes. From the first PV. Yes. RDG and Tari Tari were stumbling blocks for P.A. Works, but Uchouten Kazoku rocketed them back to greatness. But instead of Sekiguchi doing character designs, we get Buriki of Denpa Onna and Haganai fame. I just love this sort of show.

Pupa. I’m a body horror fan from back in the David Croneberg days of Scanners and such. Unlike monsters and serial killers screamy stuff, body horror always has just that sort of chill that makes you feel horrible in your own skin. Yessss. I’m hoping this show will be able to play off some of the horror with a hope of it’s own. But given the recent bloody body count in a few shows lately, I’m not holding my breathe. And yes, Sum, Ibuki Kido is one to listen for.

Tokyo Ravens. No, Sum, I don’t think the MC is of doofus material, but looks can be deceiving. Part of the appeal of Uchouten Kazoku was the wainscotting of the sublime against the mundane. This has that same Youkai formula going for it.

Kyousougiga. Holy Kyoto on an Acid Binged Wonderland, yes. More Rei, Eri, and Chiwa! More Gigantic Crazy Hammer!

Gingitsune. As Fosh points out, it has a great design and VA pedigree. That is enough to get me into a show. But like many SOL, it can drag if not careful. More Aggressive, you weren’t all that More, were you?

Yuusha ni Narenakatta. This looks like the sort of wacky show that makes me question my taste. But it looks like good clean guilty pleasure sort of fun.

    Will Take Some Convincing.

Magi 2. The first started out with a ton of potential, and then ground it’s gear in Magnostadt. That didn’t kill my total interest, but it did take the shine off. Proceeding with caution.

BlazBlue. Never played the games, but the action potential looks strong. Besides, Rachel Alucard is a certified BLV, and I cannot let BB get any sort of advantage on me.

Outbreak Company. Yeah, this show should be right up my address. But something in the main theme just seems off, plus the characters look to darn typical in the “we’re gonna use all the tropes we spitballed” department.

    • BlackBriar says:

A vampire in BlazBlue, eh? Thanks for the info, rival.

You’ve thrust with a hasty stroke. Had you not pointed it out, I would have let matters lay. But since you bristle such, what can I do but challenge?

Does this sentence seem familiar? Your comment above. That’s quite the karma that’s been introduced. You’ve been crucified with your own words.

      • skylion says:

In the voice of Sanae Dekomori: Anti Crucifixion Mirror! ::thrusts hands, palms out like a barrier::

        • Foshizzel says:

          hahaha

        • BlackBriar says:

Oh, yeah? 😀 *abducts Touma from Index* You already know what his Imagine Breaker does to all magical properties.

          • skylion says:

You take Touma from Index? Really? Dude, you’ve already been bitten like five dozen million times before you get a step away from her. I hope Heaven Canceler takes pity on you…

    • Foshizzel says:

Gingitsune: Oozes hngggggg so cute imma gonna die vibes from that trailer and of course Hisako Kanemoto <3 I hope it isn't as sad as Kotoura T_______T

  19. skylion says:

I should point out that Nagi no Asukara is written by my favorite Mai Okada.

    • d-LaN says:

So there are ppl that like Mari Okada too. Good to know.

    • skylion says:

Well, adapted/series compositions/episode writer for both ToraDora and Sakurasou. Original screenplay and writing for AnoHana and Hanasaku Iroha. Just that alone would be plenty fine…

But, she did series composition/episodes for Seikon no Qwaser I, but not II. Wooooorld of difference.

      • Highway says:

And True Tears, which I enjoyed a lot as well. I haven’t watched AnoHana yet (Aoi Hana was good, but it’s NOT the same thing 😉 ), nor Seikon no Qwaser, but maybe I’ll get to them sooner than later.

        • skylion says:

No, Aoi Hana isn’t the same thing at all. But, it’s in my backlog.

Give SnQ a chance. The breast milk thing is ridiculous, and it never lets up, but it’s surrounded by good stuff as well.

          • Highway says:

I really liked Aoi Hana, it was really authentic in dealing with relationships that are not perfect but not necessarily flawed. Unfortunately, unlike Sasameki Koto, the anime style is different from the manga style, and I liked the anime a lot more, so I stalled on reading more of the manga.

  20. skylion says:

    The Rom Com Slice.

    Give It To Me NOW!

Non Non Biyori. Cute Girls doing Cute Things. Silver Link with A-Channels character design. I’m taking it home with meeeeeee.

Golden Time. About the only creative team up that could make me crazier would be Mari Okada and Akiyuki Shinbo, but Takemiya and JC Staff for the win.

    Looking Forward To.

NouCome. Yep, guilty pleasure time again.

Log Horizon. Instead of an OP loner, we get a glass cannon that is LFG? Moar comedy? OK!

    Will Take Some Convincing.

Little Busters: Refrain. I like that last one for the most part, but the arcs always always always got so drenched in dooooooramaaaaaa! They had a good story with just the basics.

    • Foshizzel says:

Fufufu little busters refrain! I really hope this season is dark and depressing like good old Clannad…oh..yes…pack some tissues <3
