HELL YEAH! Fairy Tail gets it’s first movie (always a marking moment for any shounen anime) AND the actual author for Fairy Tail worked on the script for this one, so you know it’s going to be good. The seiyuu are all the same here, but there’s a different director for some reason. Instead of the usual Ishihara Shinji (who did the anime and the OVAs), we get Fujimori Masaya, who seems to specialize in movies (he was the animation director for the first Pokemon movie too). Overall, it sounds pretty good.
I can echo what Kara says here. HELL YEAH! Fairy Tail finally gets their first full length movie and not a lame ecchi OVA? This has me soooo excited! I just wish I had a real time machine so I can jump ahead and actually watch it, but oh well we shall see how things play out whenever this finally gets subbed and released over here. I hope they have a killer OST because so far the music in the TV series is honestly one of the bests for a Shounen series. SOON KARA! We will get to see Natsu kick some serious ass.

While I’m not all that familiar with anyone involved in the production of Guskou Budori no Denki, I can assume from the trailer that this will be a very endearing film for the younger demographic with some environmental undertones. In a way it reminds me a lot of a short anime project from this year called Buta, where the characters were in a similarly stylized animal form. However, Guskou Budori sounds more fitting for a 30 minute run (like Buta), not a full film! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the pacing is handled. The characters look cute, so I don’t really care. :3Tezuka Productions are involved in the currently airing series Sakamichi no Apollon, so I’m sure it’ll look stunning visually. The director, Gisaburo Sugii hasn’t directed anything in about 5 years, and I’ve seen absolutely nothing from him before, so I’m excited to see his direction!
So, this anime is basically about a young male cat named Guskou who sets on a journey to find his catnapped little sister and in the process he explores the world out there. Now, this story may sound simple enough but the other key elements in this anime is what makes this seem so interesting. There’s a great amount of fantasy mixed into this, well of course considering that the characters are cats but you can really see the imagination of a fantasy world expressed so well. Aside from that, some scenes in the trailer reminded me of Spirited Away, the weird looking creatures that look like spirits or ghosts and the strange tasks that Guskou has to do.
The world that Guskou lives in is vast and filled with many things that he never knew existed. Despite all the magical and supernatural elements in this anime, I’m surprised that even technology exists with the flying machines. Anyways, I’m sure that I’ll check this out just for Oguri Shun’s smexy voice.

Make way for the ninth Naruto movie, sixth in terms of Shippuuden. Mangaka, Masashi Kishimoto is responsible for both the film’s script and character designs and this time around we would be taken to an alternate timeline, where Naruto’s parents are still alive. Gives you a shock doesn’t it? At least for the followers of the franchise, who know Naruto’s ups, downs and continuious training. As characters I really came to like Minato and Kushina so even if I’m not following the manga right now, my interest levels were definitely piqued by this premise. I’m sure a lot of the characters we have come to know would have different personalities. Let’s hope not to find an emo Sasuke yet again. Also, Sakura’s parents will be making their first appearance and hopefully, we’ll get to see all the characters we like. The last movie was a total disappointment for me so even if this is sounding interesting, I’ll keep my expectations low. From resources, I’m also happy to know that the theme song, “Sore de wa, Mata Ashita” is performed by Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Overall, I’ll definitely check this out.
OH HEY LOOK ANOTHER NARUTO MOVIE! I swear the Naruto movie series will probably never die just like the pokemon movie series, but so far I really have not been a fan of these Naruto movies because most of them usually have some awesome fight scenes with some lame ass story thrown in? Either way I will have to add this to the “will watch when bored out of my mind” I still have to watch Naruto Blood Prison! I didn’t hear anything positive about that movie…
Call me when the manga actually ends. Maybe I’ll start caring about Naruto again.

A super depressing movie about a woman struggling in supporting her abnormal wolf children because of the death of their father, Wolf Man. Or maybe it’s about the two wolf children trying to cope with normal humans? Whatever it is about, it will be depressing.

Ok, it’s hard to expect something from this movie when the VA cast is not famous; I’m sure only few of us know Miyazaki Aoi (Nana “Hachi” Komatsu in Nana), and I bet nobody knows a VA named Osawa Takao. Well, those who watched Sandaime movie might since he’s the male Akagi in that movie. Okami Kodomo is Studio Chizu’s first debut too… But guess who’s directing it? Hosoda Mamoru, the dude who directed Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Hosoda Mamoru is a good reason for someone to watch this movie.

// C O M M E N T S
Saw the trailer and was like oh…wow…this movie sounds freaking sad and I can already predict a sappy tearjerker ending! Somehow I can see this turning south really fast, but honestly this looks like it might be aimed at people with children or families? Children turning into wolves makes me think of happy friendly family entertainment! And with Madhouse handling the artwork I bet this movie will look fantastic, but I don’t think I will bother with this “children-ish” movie so have fun whoever watches it.
This sounds… extremely depressing. In a good way. It’s going look good at least, since Madhouse is on it, but from the trailer, it also looks fairly slice-of-life-ish. …As much as the topic of having children turn into wolves can fit into slice of life, anyways.
Okay, so this seems like a really touching movie but I’m sure there will be that whole mixture of depressing things like the children having to hide what they are but then there’s that whole cute happy factor of a family sticking together. I wonder what happened to the daddy…<_<;
Seriously, guys. ^^ The art is amazing and I’m rather touched by the premise of a mother protecting her kids (they usually do that and are best known for it). I’ll watch this with the hope of seeing them overcome their problems and living happily even if snow and rain (Yuki and Ame are the names of kids).

So I don’t know if it’s going to be worth watching this for me since this just an abridged version of the anime plus the contents of the upcoming special. I think there might be some new content too, but I can’t imagine them putting in much since they covered it all in the anime and they had to shove in 24 episodes worth of material into a couple of hours already just making this thing. This would be a great introduction to people completely new to the series, but for anyone who’s already seen it all when it aired, it’s probably best to just wait for the OVA. …Though I want to see that teaser for the Persona 3 movie that’s at the end of this thing. That would be my only motivation to watch this.
Hey, I liked what they did with Persona 4 but I don’t think this movie is for those who have watched the series. Rather it’s the condensed version for those who don’t want to see the whole series. Now, in my opinion, it’s like killing the experience because remember kids, Gurren Lagann recap movie was a bummer? I would have checked this out for the unaired “True End Episode” but I’m sure that will come out way before this will be released.

Toshokan Senshou: Kakumei no Tsubasa is basically a remake of the anime series which aired in 2008. The anime is in a world where the Japanese government passed the Media Betterment Act (MBA) which allows the censorship of any media found to be potentially harmful to Japanese society. But there are local governments who oppose the act and set up an armed anti-MBA defense force to protect libraries from the Media Betterment Committee (MBC). The main character of the anime, Kasahara Iku, a new recruit to the Kantou Library Defense Force who joins the force because when she was in high school, she was saved from a force member when a book she wanted was being confiscated by agents of the MBC. As a new recruit, Kasahara goes through some tough training despite her being good at physical labors. Her superior, Dojo Atsushi, just happens to be shorter than her and the two are always barking at each other. So basically aside from the comedic scenes that would remind you of Lovely Complex, there’s the main plot dealing with Kasahara’s life in a world where conflict is created over the rights to protects media… or books. There’s a good amount of action, comedy and even some unexpected.. or maybe it’s actually expected, romance. So if you end up watching this movie and liking it, I suggest you check out the series.

So yeah, this is a movie. There’s probably going to be added scenes that you never saw in the series considering that this is a movie. I’m really excited for this,. The anime series actually ended well that I saw no need for another season, so a remake is just fine with me. Now if only I could get around to reading the manga.

How have I never heard of this series before!? It sounds incredibly interesting. This film is a sequel to the 12 episode anime that aired in 2008 about the military going to extremes and censoring the media, including books which is where the title “Library Wars” comes in. In response the libraries hired military forces to guard the media. I can see how this series could be very political and full of gun-related action. (The trailer alone had tons of it.) I’m tempted to check this out, but I’d have to watch the series first. 12 episodes? Psh, that’ll take me a couple days.

    [insert obligatory first comment here]

Thanks for this anyways guys (I’m pretty sure you can’t be late for a season preview…), now that all the big blogs’ previews are done, us smaller blogs can finally start to leech off all of your information and innocuously present them as our own research!

wait shit I shouldn’t have said that

    • Iso says:

      lol!

Anyway, nice graphics as usual guys! Awesome work there.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hooraaay Mushy! Welcome to the fun <3

Indeed we barely made it but better than no list at all right? I hope you find our list informative!

      Lawlz have fun Mr. Mushy

    • Kyokai says:

      Ahahaa, you guys! >>

It was worth the work of staying up a whole day and sleep at 7am after finishing formatting….

  2. akagami says:

This summer season looks so good, so many shows I want to check out.

Recap of the last season, I think I’ve gotten better at picking shows I will enjoy, of the 8 I wanted to see, I kept all 8 (Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, Acchi Kocchi, Natsuiro Kiseki, Accel World, Upotte!!, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, Jormungand, Eureka Seven Astral Ocean). Only one of my seven on the fence shows did I pick up (Hyouka). I have Tasogare Otome x Amnesia on my list to check out (got the first two episodes) since people have recommended it to me.

Not too bad, 100% of my must-watch and picked up one or two.

For this season, I defintely want to watch the continuation of Horizon. But there are so many new shows THAT-I-MUST-SEE!!! This season looks like it’s going to be rough for me…

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah there are a few shows I am excited for and a few that look really terrible and dull…

I approve of this list especially with Eureka Seven Ao! That series needs more love, but ah well sequel series are either fueled by the fanbase or it keeps new fans away because they haven’t seen the original Eureka Seven series.

I will be watching Horizon for the mindless fight scenes because the story is so damn confusing! AHHHHHH!! But at least the action is fine.

    • Namika says:

Rough, because there are more seemingly promising shows that usually show up in a summer season. :3 I’m definitely not against it though ^_^

  3. anaaga says:

What is summer without Kamiyan? *sob*

    • Foshizzel says:

      Sad but true

    • Karakuri says:

NOTHING. If you get REALLY desperate, you could always go back and watch Bread: the Animation. …I’m considering it.

      • Hawthorne says:

Rick’s voice and baking narcissism are the only reasons I’m still watching.

        • Highway says:

That’s pretty thin gruel, the guy never talks! Random ‘un’ and ‘ah’ is about it.

          • Karakuri says:

But it’s ‘un’ and ‘ah’ in Kamiyan’s voice. That makes it slightly better than the regular ‘un and ‘ah’s from shows with characters who are not voiced by Kamiyan.

          • Kyokai says:

Also, hear his following roles to understand his talents: Izaya in Durarara!!, Mephisto in Ao no Exorcist, Natsume in Natsume Yuujinchou, sensei in Zetsubou Sensei, Penguin in Polar Bear Cafe, Araragi Koyomi in Monogatari series… I can go on but I think this is enough for now. :3

          • anaaga says:

Even if it’s just ‘un’ and ‘ah’, it’s more than enough. It’s Kamiyan. His ‘un’s and ‘ah’s are perfection.

      • anaaga says:

Pffttt you guys can go and watch that bread show, I’ll just listen to his BL drama CDs. FUFUFUFUFU

        • BlackBriar says:

Other than watching it to listen to Kamiya’s voice and watch Xiao-Mei’s character, which is pretty much intoxicating due to high moe levels (and seeing her being a great and carefree thief), I’m watching to see how it ends so I can pass judgment on the show. Right now, that judgment could turn out to be awfully severe.

    • Kyokai says:

Imagine, how I felt writing the round up. TT____TT

    • BlackBriar says:

I recommend: A: Marathoning the entire Monogatari series or B: Catching up to Phi Brain season 2 to hear Kamiya’s voice from the other white haired bad guy, Freecell.

  4. akagami says:

So I had time to collect my thoughts (and hide my excitement while trying not to spoil myself about the upcoming shows):

    Must-Heck-Out List:
    – Rinne no Lagrange Season 2 – Maru!
    – TARI TARI – Slice of life? Where do I sign up?
    – La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia – First glance of the cast reminds me of Reborn. Looks interesting enough to warrant a look.
    – Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse – I’m a sucker for mecha.
    – Binbougami ga! – Premise seems interesting enough, plus it’s a comedy.
    – Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate – School life? Sold.
    – Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! – Can’t go without a harem fix. HAREM! HAREM!
    – Joshiraku – Looks random, and yet interesting. Going to give it a shot.
    – Hagure Yuusha no Estetica – Demons, fighting, cute characters. Hope it turns out as entertaining Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou was.
    – Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai – Romance and comedy, I don’t think I’ve ever turned down that combination (at least one-two episodes to get my feet wet)
    – Campione – Schools! Battles! You had me at schools.
    – Tanken Driland – Always willing to give RPG type animes a shot. After all Vesperia was a gem I wasn’t expecting.
    – DOG DAYS’ – Enjoyed the first season. Expecting more of the same.
    – Sword Art Online – One of the mosy hyped about shows… first found out about it due to some artwork, looks pretty good. I hope it lives up to its hype.
    – Kokoro Connect – Body swap and not hentai? Hmmmm, worth a look.
    – Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II – Horizon 2 OMGWTFBBQ ….SO PUMPED. I AM LADY.
    – Oda Nobuna no Yabou – Samurai-era animes are always worthy of a watch for me. Hope this redeems last season’s Sengoku Otome.
    – Ebiten: Kouritsu Ebisugawa Koukou Tenmonbu – Romantic school-life comedy. I don’t need to know any more.

So 18 must-check out shows and none I’m on the fence about. Assuming I don’t drop any, that’s…. I need more hours in a day.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahhh yeah I guess this is a season most of us will enjoy or end up bored.

Rinne no Lagrange- ALL THE MARU AND MORE MADOKA!

Muv-Luv- Same here…same…here…also those girls flight suits practically scream anime physics YO!

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica- I was thinking the same thing actually! It does have a Ichiban “feel” to it doesn’t it?

Kokoro Connect- I am watching for the Hnngg artwork and of course Ika Musume/Yayoi voice actress! Yeah you usually see “body swap” in terms of H quality material…Did you see the PV 11min episode? Not bad at all well minus the dude swapping bodies with a girl only to grope himself/herself LOL

Damn that is a hardcore list! I wish you the best of luck.

      • akagami says:

Deshou? I was hoping for a light season so it would give me some time to clear my backlog (104GB) of shows I’ve not finished, or want to start (e.g. I have the first two episodes of Natsume S1).

… and I have to watch at least the first couple as it airs to determine if I’ll keep up with it… ahhhhhhhhh

      • Kyokai says:

Don’t think of leaving Natsume! It’s an excellent show. ><

    • Namika says:

      Wow, that’s a rather large list 😀

  5. skylion says:

THIS. IS. META! Let the other blogs fire a million arrows, we shall review in the shade….

Yuusha: Ecchi is a siren lure to me. But noting in the PV’s or other promo material caught me eye enough. I’ll take recommendation.

Dog Days 2: The first outing was one of my guilty pleasures. I loved the fact that other people loathed it,and that I was just in the groove with it. I enjoy enjoying what other people loathe. It makes me feel special. So yes, seconds of Biscotti please. Oh, yes. Seconds……..rarrrrr

Horizon: Had no interest in the first after two shows (gobs and gobs of characters usually leave me….meh. I’ll prolly pass on the 2nd outing.

Shimashita; This. Just this. The PV had featherless chickens without heads speaking out of the neckholes. FUUCCCCCCCCK. I’m am so in…..

    Famalia:

Despite the surprise incest, lolicons and other such nonsense

Kara, this is the stuff I butter my bread with. It starts when? Not tonite?! Why not!?

Muv Luv: Meh-Luv. Unless someone tells me otherwise. Fosh or Seven will be my guide.

Shoujo Mecha Second Season. OMG! YES YES YES………
Yeah, I guess I’m cool with this. :::runs around like a dog with the rips…..squirrel…:::

SAO: I usually don’t have any expectations going into any show. But I do for this one. It looks to awesome not to. I have seen around the aniblogs that they don’t like the Working!! character design. To me, this is a strength. It lends some “real world” to the show. I mean, Working is a comedy series, but it had real world physics to it. Yeah, high expectations. Hoping to see it jump over some of the AW fail.

Alright, on to the next category.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Ahaha Skylion you are awesome.

I never could get past Dog Days episode one when it first aired…not sure why guess it did not appeal to me? But I heard that most fans placed it into their guilty pleasure folder ahah

I will give Muv-Luv a shot for the plot…yes…the giant plot wrapped in a fanserivce made flight suit >.>

SAO! I CAN’T FREAKING WAIT! It looks pretty and it also has a great voice cast, sadly it has already been written off as a .hack\\SIGN clone by most fans of the whole stuck in a video game theme, but honestly is there really anything original in the world of anime lately? I mean almost 80% of new shows now take something from another series! Video games and movies do the same thing.

    • Kyokai says:

THIS. IS. META! Let the other blogs fire a million arrows, we shall review in the shade….

Such an awesome line that I can use for our Aniblog Tourney Quarterfinals! xD

  6. BlackBriar says:

Quite the awesome list you have here, Team Meta. It’s shaping up to be an interesting and packed season. Winter was Yuri season, Spring was season of the Dead and given what I’ve seen, Summer is going to be Fantasy and game season.

    On the watch list:
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica: Looks like a good ride and what a great ensemble of seiyuus. Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yoko Hikasa, Ayana Taketatsu, Kana Hanazawa and Rina Satou?! Damn!! I’m sold so bring it on!!

Arcana Famiglia: Strong female lead for the win!! I’m getting some Black Butler and Ao no Exorcist vibes just looking at the cover art. The name Arcana Famiglia sounds like a mafia group and the father is using a medieval method of marrying off his daughter.
@Karakuri: Is the game version really good? Because Hiiro no Kakera was a game but I heard the anime adaption wasn’t doing good.

Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse: Satelight again? I’m seeing that name a lot since watching Symphogear and AKB0048. Seems I have another mecha anime to check out but I don’t know what to expect. So I’ll be a little optimistic. YES!! More Yoko Hikasa!! Tofu, if you’re reading this, start squealing. LOL.
    @Fosh: I bet you’re waiting anxiously, huh?

Rinne no Lagrange 2: Finally it’s back!! It just can’t come fast enough. More mecha and closet yuri vibes to look forward to!!! No need to ask. I can feel the excitement. “So, what do you think we get to see in the second half of Lagrange?” First off, we’ll get the trio back together, more mecha battles, more suspecting on that shifty character Moid who reminds me a lot of Fumito Nanahara and more explanations behind those weird flowers coming from the robots along with that prophecy.

Sword Art Online: I’ll always consider watching an anime that shares similar cyber elements like the .hack franchise or Accel World. Even the part about literally dying after dying in the game sounds like The Matrix. Some of the cast is unknown to me but I’ll use this as an opportunity to familiarize their voices.

Campione!: It might be good but the First Impression is needed to be confirmed. The blonde girl seems like a strong character. Yoko Hikasa (Tofu, you must be loving this), Eri Kitamura and Kana Hanazawa?! *flatlines* CLEAR!!! *zaps* Sorry about that. My heart couldn’t handle the sudden rush of happiness.

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai: I have to agree with Fosh and Jrow. This feels like High School DxD. Not to mention the girl has red hair except thankfully, the beautiful Rias Gremory wasn’t a tsundere (That can be a problem) and the guy sounds like DxD’s Issei Hyoudou but the trailer show different elements. I’m still onboard to watch it. Fill out a bra the way Rias Gremory can? Rias is one of a kind. She’s hard to top.

Binbougami ga!: I’ll give it a go. The story is weird but will be considered since it has Hanazawa as the lead.

Oda Nobuna no Yabou: Feudal Japan as a setting is a start and the blonde girl looks like the strong silent type (given what I’ve seen in the trailer). I hope it doesn’t disappoint. And I’m already prepared for some possible sexually suggestive screencaps.

Nice strings of specials (Inu x Boku SS, Persona 4). I’m even inclined to watch the Guilty Crown special.

    • Karakuri says:

THE GAME VERSION OF ARCANA IS SO MUCH FREAKING FUN. …I’m working on a review that will hopefully be out soon, but yeah. It’s my favourite for so many reasons.

Let me tell you right now, Hiiro was an EXTREMELY boring game (the anime fixed that kind of, but there’s no fixing DEEN’s shitty animation). It made me extremely apathetic due to the sheer length and amount of things it wanted me to read. Arcana is more action and Felicita is 189234789021 times more awesome.

      • BlackBriar says:

I’ll take your words for it. Arcana looks like a lot of fun and if it is, I’ll be bummed that the series is only 12 episodes long. With “Arcana” in the name, I’ll be expecting Tarot elements like there were with Persona. Badass female? I’m onboard. Hopefully with all these animes passing by, we’ll get our Bloody Cross adaption.

I only watched the first episode of Hiiro and thought it might be interesting. But now I’m starting to change my mind and will probably drop it after all.

        • Karakuri says:

Yep! Definitely lots of Tarot elements. I’ll probably be providing a pretentious analysis during the episodes like with the Persona post, just because I can xD. …The only thing that would make me as excited as I am for Arcana would be the Bloody Cross adaption.

Ehhh, I don’t know if you’d find it interesting or not. I’ll tell you right now, there are no vampires.

          • BlackBriar says:

If that’s what will be in store, then I’ll be looking forward to them. If that adaption evers comes, I’ll be overjoyed beyond belief. Double so if Blood Parade gets one.

Hmm.. I guess I’ll never know since I’ll be busy with this season’s animes. LOL. Nice one, Kara. Yep, I can tell that a mile away because of the first episode. I’m going through horrible withdrawl since Kore wa Zombie ended (meaning no more Seraphim, Saraswati and Yuki).

    • Foshizzel says:

Ah yes! I have noticed the summer season = girls with swords running around saaving the worrldddd!

Hagure looks interesting and they do have an excellent cast of voice actors! I saw that Ayana Taketatsu was appearing in like 5/6 different shows? It might be only 4 but hey! I loved her work in Guilty Crown as Tsugumi so I am happy to see her in other roles.

Muv-Luv I admit looks totally like a H anime! Seriously the girls flight suits look hilarious and perfect for anime physics hello HoTD anyone? And its got giant robots! WOOOO! I will give it a shot, but I have a feeling it is going to be soooo terrible.

Rinne no Lagrange s2! AT LAST! When this series ended the first time I was sad because Madoka always kept me wanting more and yes even Lan and Muginami had some fun moments together so BRING ON SEASON TWO <3

OH MA GOD MORE OH MA SHOE! I can see the jokes now...oh man I can't wait.

      • BlackBriar says:

The suits for the girls in Muv-Luv reminds me of the suit Guilty Crown’s Tsugumi uses when she’s doing her hacking. But it also brings back memories of HoTD, mainly Rei and Saeko showing off their curves. And giants robots are here. Gundam, anyone? We can only hope it turns out good.

It’s about time Rinne no Lagrange returned to us. The wait was agonizing. More of Madoka, Lan and Muginami along with mecha action. I’m still bummed it’s 12 episodes again. Well, nothing’s perfect. The only fact that might be liked is that when it’s over, we’ll be here just in time for the second half of Jormungand.

I don’t even care if this Guilty Crown special turns out ridiculous or not because I’ve watched the full series. I’ll watch it simply because it’s there and I want to know what the story is about. I miss the pulling weapons out of people’s bodies, though.

Rinne! Squirrel! Girls with swords saving the world is the stuff that dreams are made of. I’m ready….

        • BlackBriar says:

You’re ready? Hahaha. The question is: Can you handle it once it gets here? That’s the true test.

    • Namika says:

Arcana Famiglia really does give off those kind of vibes, doesn’t it??? Looks really nice and dark. Can’t wait to see >O<

  7. Kitty says:

I WAS WAITING SO HARD FOR THIS~~~~

Favorite thing about new anime seasons, the MetaTeam round up! I love your posts but I don’t love this season XD I’m only really super excited for:

    Arcana Famiglia
    Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
    Fairy Tail movie

Nothing else really catches my eye. Really it seems to be all panties and boobs. HOWEVER! I have said this before and then your blog entires have made me change my mind. Like when Phi Brain and Space Brothers. So here is to another season! Ganbatta!!

    • Karakuri says:

LOL that’s pretty much the same as my list of things I’m excited for! Jinrui looks super weird, yet good. It will be hard for JC to ruin Arcana for me and the FT movie is going to be FABULOUS.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hooraaayy! I am glad we got this post out.

I want that Fairy Tail movie so badly…sucks we have to wait a year for subs, but ah well I can wait for a while….

I am having a blast with Phi brain s2! Lots of fun so far for me to enjoy.

  8. skylion says:

    THIS. IS. ROM COM!

Yes. How many rom coms shows are you going to watch this season, Skylion? All of the Rom Coms! ALL OF THEM!

Yuru Yuri. One of the things I love about this show: As a writer you try to find the perfect alchemy between tropes. Comedy tropes and Yuri tropes. The first outing worked that alchemy to perfection. I don’t expect the second season to fail. If anything it will take the sting out of No More Acchi Kocchi.

Campione! I like the premise. It sounds like a good mix up between shounen and shoujo styles. Plus, beautiful, strong girl in an elegant red dress with a rapier. I’m in.

Chitose. I’m still a fan of Kodomo no Jikan. That manga takes you by surprise. So, we have roughly the same premise but with comedy, and the main male lead being a decent fellow. I’m in.

This is why I can’t have Sex: I loved High School DxD. It was goofy, dramatic, oppai, and lot’s of fun. That this mildly imitates that is not a negative to me. Besides, this lady has a scythe. I’m in.

Astronomy Club mix up show: Yeah, I’m in. I mean, why not?

Joshiraku: This seasons equivalent to Lucky Star!? Sure, I’ll start a 5:1 betting pool on that. I’m in.

Chocolate: So, I can’t watch you NOW. That really sucks. I’m in.

Kokoro Connect: So, K-On’s character designer, and Sliver Link is doing it. I mean, they went from Nice Try Guys, to OMG the last three episodes of Dusk Maiden was so fucking METAL. After watching Part A of the pre-release, I can already so strong characterization. Another show of high expectations. I’m………in.

Imouto Summer 2012. Eye candy character design. A plot hat was chosen by the throw of a dart. Any sane person should avoid this show like a dead rat on the sidewalk. I’m…..Hells Bells, I’m in. Mea culpa.

Tari Tari. Like Hawt, I am a huge fanboy of Hanasaku Iroha. I mean, I got my family to watch it. They really enjoyed it…thanks Crunchyroll! I don’t care if it repeats the drama or characterization of Hanairo; I didn’t get enough of that the first time around. I can’t watch this show right now why?

    • Foshizzel says:

      ROMMMMM COMMMMMM!!

Yuru Yuri- When I saw season one I honestly thought it was going to be a non stop yuri ride, but after I got into the series and got to know the characters all bets were off! Seriously if anyone out there sees it as EWWWW YURI you should give it a shot! Anyway I can’t wait for more adventures with Akarin and everyone else.

Kokoro Connect- Yep I saw the PV and it really is basically K-ON with fanservice because obviously body swapping dudes and chicks what is the first thing you think a guy is going to do? I will let you think on that for a moment, but I just want to hear Ika Musume’s actress because damn she has a cute voice…

    • Kyokai says:

      Good luck, skylion! 😉

    • Hawthorne says:

One more day and Tari Tari is all ours! XD It’s giving off a lot of the same vibes as HanaIro, but with a different director it’s hard to say how similar they’ll actually be. (Apart from character design, obviously. ><) As much as I loved HanaIro, I'm hoping for something a little different, especially with the larger focus on the school setting and the fact that it's half the length. Glad to see another HanaIro fan on Meta! ´▽` Maybe your family will enjoy this one too?

      • skylion says:

Well my parents enjoyed the balls to the wall attitude of Manager-san; they are so old school that way, what with the complaining about this generation and that. And they dug that Ohana choose to become like her grandmother. Something I suspected they would like all along.
And this dovetails into what you say above. Just because it has most of the parts, doesn’t make it the same “ride” So, I’ll have to wait and see. Not long now.

  9. Elucidator says:

SAO has quite a high level voice cast. Hiroaki Hirata voices as Klein and Koichi Yamadera voices as Kayaba Akihiko.

Also, most agree that SAO is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than Accel World.

    • Foshizzel says:

BY GOD I HOPE SO! I will continue to say I love the idea behind Accel World in terms of a setting and idea, but yeah I have higher hopes for SAO even though it is a straight up .hack\\SIGN clone I don’t care I will still watch it anyway!

      • Elucidator says:

Kawahara Reki started posting SAO chapters online back in 2002. Around the time when they were planning .hack.

So yeah, they’re both uninfluenced by each other :D.

Also, SAO has higher stakes compared to .hack.

  10. Rakkyo says:

A wee bit late for a season preview but at least its out XD.

Here’s my list for this season:

    Low Expectation:
Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru
    Hagure Yuusha no Estetica
    Ebiten
    Joshiraku
    Kokoro Connect

    Medium Expectation:
    Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate
    Jinrui wa Suitaishimasta
    Tari Tari
    Campione!
    Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse

    High Expectation:
    Sword Art Online
    Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon 2
    Rinne no Lagrange 2
    Yuru Yuri 2
    La storia della Arcana Famiglia
    Binbou-gami ga!

    Continuing from current season:
    Accel World
    Hyouka

    Grand Total: 18 series…. oh god…
Yeah, I’m taking quite a pessimistic stance this season and will probably drop some on the way.

    btw, any livewatches this season?

    • Jrow says:

I’m for another season of livewatch. Something like Sword Art Online, or for comedy Binbougami Ga might be real fun to watch with a group.

    • Kyokai says:

If you read my beginning comment and ender round up, you will know about the delay. 😉

Anyways, we’ll let you know about live watches for sure.

    • Foshizzel says:

FK YA SWORD ART ONLINE LIVE WATCHES! Wooooooo!

  11. Bob from Accounting says:

Woot more Lagrange! I am excite! Otherwise? Uh, noitaminA? The Hundred Poets show? I can’t say I’m exactly looking forward to much… But still! Lagrange!

  12. Highway says:

I have to admit that I’m still too invested in the finales of Spring to be thinking too much about Summer. And this is also where I’m really feeling like a novice, since I just don’t have the background to put Studio + Staff + VA + story source together and come up with any real assessment.

So basically I’m leaning on all you guys to help point me to shows worth watching. No pressure, eh? 😉

At the moment, I’m pretty much on the Skylion express to RomCom-ville. And anything that comes out as watchable (and that’s an admittedly low bar for me) ecchi as well. But I have to add that posts like this help to get some excitement going, and I can’t wait to see what you guys add to the straight experience of watching.

    Thanks!

    • Kyokai says:

We’ll keep you entertained, Highway. No worries there. :3

    • skylion says:

Skylion Express! ALLLLLLLLL A-BOARD!. We service the Rom/Com line with stops at Ecchitown, TsundereBlush Flats, Mixed Signals Town and all points in between. Our final destination may even be First-Kissu City.

      • BlackBriar says:

Ticket for one please on the Skylion Express. I intend to take the full tour but first, on my way into Ecchitown, I’ll visit the famous Gutter Lounge. I heard it’s so awesome that you won’t want to leave.

        • skylion says:

I’m already there, BB. I’ll get us a carafe of Summer Sangria. Let us enjoy the festivities.

        • Kyokai says:

Somebody get me some parfait so I can enjoy this ride in the fullest. 😉

          • BlackBriar says:

I’ll have whatever she’s having. And can I get a side of fries to go?

    • Foshizzel says:

      Woooo Skylion! -moe fist-

      • skylion says:

Bro-Moe Fist, Fosh! That’s how the shiz gets done, YO!

  13. D-LaN says:

I’m sorry, but Accel World is BAD!?

Defin. watching SAO. And I got myself a novel just for this!
The other shows……Lemme clear mah backlog 1st.

    • Kyokai says:

Lol, no! Fosh just doesn’t like Haru’s character. xD

I hope SAO is adapted well!

    • Foshizzel says:

Accel World is alright but yeah I will leave the anti-Haru comments to myself <3

      HELL YA! SAO!!

      • skylion says:

Haru is the OHMAShoe of AC. There is nothing that can change this. The die is cast. At best we can enjoy Scarlett Rain, the only character worth a damn in the whole show. LOLIS FTW!

        • BlackBriar says:

I wouldn’t exactly say Haru is the Shu of Accel World (Though they both have the same seiyuu). He’s more resistant. He doesn’t wallow in his self pity for long and he’s quick to getting back on his feet. I can honestly call that an improvement.

          • skylion says:

I didn’t say he was the Shuu of Accel World. I said he was the OHMASHOE! That would be Fosh’s wicked wicked characterization of Shuu for his Guilty Crown reviews. Meaning, poor Haru, gets shit-canned, for no other reason that the minor resemblance of weaknesses.

          • Foshizzel says:

Shhh Kyokai might use her death perception and kill everyone! She likes round little Haru and his voice actor!

Yeah I kid I kid <3 that said most people I interact via twitter hate the series not because of Haru by himself just how the story has been so far I dunno I enjoy watching it but I dislike the characters? I know seems strange...

            • D-LaN says:

Here comes the obligatory Drop This Show Again Next Week jokes. They r really tsuntsun aren’t they?

Personally its kinda hard to re-adapt to whiny OH MA SHOE voice but thank goodness we can adapt. And it helps tht he is not as emo as OH MA SHOE.

When AW will gives us some girls w/h good racks?

  14. Namika says:

WOHOOOOOO!!!!! after being absent for a year I can finally follow some anime!!!! *O*
So, First of all, I’m looking forward to TariTari. Idk, it seems that i’m getting into slice of life, after Kimi to Boku.
OMFGGGGGGGGGGG~ Code Geass OVA, finally!!! When I found out about it I was really glad. For both of them, actually. Well, Nunnaly in a wheelchair wonderland seems pretty random, but as long as I can see a bit more of Lulu, I’m all in. But the Akito………… can’t wait!!! *O*
Also, I’ll try out Arcana Famiglia, Total Eclipse, Tight rope(yum-yum :3 haven’t read that but still >>) Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Uta koi. Can’t wait *~*

    • Foshizzel says:

fufufuuu congratulations Namika! I hope you find some great shows of the past season to enjoy!

Yeah lots of Code Geass love soon <3

      • Namika says:

        Thank you Fosh! ^_^

But… that’s not soon!!! We still have to wait a full month! TT^TT

    • Hawthorne says:

Welcome back to anime world. ´▽` fufufu you have chosen a good season to come back during.

      • Namika says:

Actually, I am surprised that I’m looking forward to so much series this summer. Usually, summer season isn’t the best, as you know >>

    • skylion says:

Oh, new Metafriend! Yeah, Arcana Familigia just looks to darn good to ignore. I’m with you on that.

      • Namika says:

        HI new Meta friend ^O^

Yeah, at first sight it looks kinda stereotypic, but as I watched the trailer I felt the hype *~*

    • Kyokai says:

After finally watching the trailer, not so pumped about UtaKoi anymore… It reminds me of one those Sengoku shorts… Aww man.

      • Namika says:

Me too. The art was interesting but disappointing, because I was waiting for something very light and soft. Though I’m still interested to see, how it’ll turn out.

      • skylion says:

Just watched it and really enjoyed it.

        • Namika says:

Rly? I didn’t watch it yet, but am definitely going to

        • Highway says:

I watched UtaKoi and thought it was ok. It’s one of those that feels like there’s a lot of nuance and expectation and cultural ‘DNA’ that isn’t in the dialogue, and so it doesn’t get translated. But I’ll definitely watch more of it.

    • BlackBriar says:

Absent for a year?! Good lord, how did you survive? Anyway, welcome back Namika Hime-chan. Long time, no comment. It must be good to be back. Haven’t had the pleasure of your presence and conversation in a while.

Yep, I’m also geared up for this season. Arcana Famiglia is the most anticipated in my list. Second goes to Total Eclipse.

      • Namika says:

Yup, a year, pretty much. Only followed Another this winter, nothing else. And I’m damn proud of myself that I endured that 😀 Well, from now on, I’m gonna be around to chat :3

I can’t decide, which one I’m interested in more. I think Total eclipse, Arcana famiglia and Natsyuyki have a tie. Plus, the Code Geass OVA. Can’t wait to see it!!!!!

  15. The_Magus_Killer says:

After reading your season preview, I’ve expanded my watch list from an initial five, to eight:

    1. Rinne no Langrange II

    2. Rinne no Lagrange Kamogawa Days

(I will watch these two because of Lan, and the Mecha. Cannot forget the Mecha.)

    3. Campione (Hot Girls with Swords always sell well to me; having Hikasa Yoko in the cast is a plus too)

    3. Oda Nobuna no Yabou (Can Oda Nobuna outdo Sengoku Collection’s and Sengoku Otome’s versions?)

    4. Sword Art Online (Rumours are flying around that the male protagonist of Sword Art Online is actually the father of Accel World’s Kuroyukihime. Can someone confirm this?)

    5. Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (For the Mecha)

    6. CODE GEASS Hangyaku no Lelouch: Nunnally in Wonderland (Always nice to see Lelouch and company again after he died in R2)

    7. CODE GEASS: boukaku no akito (The EU better have cooler Knightmare Frame designs this time around. The Panzer Hummel Knightmare Frame in season II of Lelouch of the Rebellion was sort of a disappointment – it was boring but practical, but when the Lancelot Air Cavalry arrived, they got decimated)

    8. Nazo no Kanojo X Specials (Urabe Mikoto + Drool + Panty Scissors. ‘Nuff said.)

    • Foshizzel says:

Hooray! I am so pumped and excited for Rinne no lagrange s2 and the ova! Aweeesomeeeee

Lolol Muv-Luv for the mecha as well but a bit for da fanservice…yes…lots of service.

TWO GEASS OVAS! Even though one of them looks hardcore comedy while the other is action with mechs <3

    • Kyokai says:

Your Sword Art Online comment is very interesting. According to timeline of the novels. It’s possible but I haven’t found any legit resource to confirm this info.

      • D-LaN says:

SAO and AW is in the same world eh? Sooo is there a connection bet the NervGear and AW internet collar?

        • The_Magus_Killer says:

If I remember what my light novel reading friends are telling me, yes, SAO and AW are in the same “universe”, and SAO is sort of a prequel to Accel World. That’s assuming Kazuto Kirigaya/Kirito of SAO is the dad of AW’s Kuroyukihime. I think the AW internet collar is a derivative of NervGear technology.

          • Foshizzel says:

Haru did mention how he played a fantasy rpg game with a few friends maybe SAO was that game? That would be very interesting!

            • D-LaN says:

Nah, I think its prob. ALFheim ON9 or the another one which appear at later LN (I just fin LN 1 and reading 2 & 3 simultaneously).

          • Elucidator says:

Actually the Alicization arc of SAO is supposed to be the bridge between the technology of the two series.

Also, in volume 1 of AW, Silver Crow fought Kirito after Kirito got into the Umesato Junior High School Server by accident.

            • Elucidator says:

              *volume 10

            • The_Magus_Killer says:

Hmmm, based on the info you supplied, either:

1.) Kirito from SAO time-traveled into the future, which is Accel World, and may or may not be related to Kuroyukihime.

              OR

2.) AW and SAO take place in the same time and in the same universe, and Kirito is not Kuroyukihime’s dad. Aw. T_T

I am itching to find out the answer. =)

            • Elucidator says:

Kirito FullDived using a new untested technology, and his conscious went into the Umesato Junior High School by accident. Of course, Kirito’s in his Black Swordsman avatar at that time >:D.

Also, AW belongs from the same timeline as SAO, with SAO taking place a few decades earlier.

That oneshot also possibly explains the color black.

            • Elucidator says:

              *That crossover

  16. Moni Chan says:

    this season looks interesting.

The movies, Fairy tail, Naruto can’t ask for more.

and the second season of yuyu yuri. I can’t wait

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah interesting season full of excitement and fail for some shows.

I CAN’T WAIT FOR THAT DAMN FAIRY TAIL MOVIE <3

Woooooooooooooo! Another Yuru Yuri fan! YOU ARE AWESOME

      • Highway says:

I’ve been watching Yuru Yuri the last week (for the first time) because they announced the second series. I’ll definitely be watching S2.

        • Foshizzel says:

Great! Have you been drawn into the whole AKAARIINNN! Thing yet? Damn that was fun I can’t wait for the second series <3

          • skylion says:

It looks like they are adding about three LOLI characters. Is 2012 the Year of the LOLI or what? Oh, you pesky Mayans, what did you have in store for us!?

        • Moni Chan says:

my cousin is doing the same thing with every show that gets a 2nd season. hopefully you Finnish in time

  17. […] are, read on. For everyone else you can bugger off or check out these much better season previews: Metanorn, The Cart Driver, Crazy Cake and […]

  18. skylion says:

OK. Just watched the Campione pre-air.

First: Animation quality it pretty good. I suspect that the full version will be even better.

Second: Characters. So far they seem to be cut from the basic of tropes, but they do have something…

Third. Exposition between the workings of the Heretic Gods and humans is just damn intriguing. This exposition was very well weaved into characterization of our main leads, and the supporting cast.

Fourth: Solid magical stuff. None of the arcane stuff should surprise an average anime fan, but they do put a good spin on it, and make it their own.

Fifth: I like these two main characters; earnesty goes quite a long way for the female lead, and sheer guts for the male.

In essence it looks like solid entertainment. It has a good deal of eyecandy for the female lead, and the male lead doesn’t look like a complete dork. The romance starts in the first episode, and that, in and of itself, is something of a draw. She really digs this guy for reasons she may not be aware, so expect a slight tsundere attitude from her, with the compliment WTF from the male.

IOW: I had middling expectations from the show, and it managed to exceed them. I’m glued.

    • Kyokai says:

Thanks for breakdown of series. Now I definitely will check it out. Btw, interesting fact, seiyuu for the MC of Campione and Sword Art Online are the same and both are kind of battle anime. I hope he can maintain diversity and not sound the same.

    • Foshizzel says:

I haven’t seen Campione yet but I suspect it will be something I will like because chicks with swords are awesome and fun <3

  19. skylion says:

Oda Nobuna no Yabou After Sengoku Collection, I just cannot afford to miss out on this genre. The character design is appealing, and the action promises to be something to watch. Now, Sengoku Collection had something of a vignette approach to it that I really loved. but Oda looks to have more of a “long range” story approach. I will be checking this out.

    • Foshizzel says:

Gotta watch those genderbent generals! I like Sengoku and found Otome in the previous year to be quite fun! That and I have the science girl from Sengoku as my twitter avatar you know the time traveler? YEP! My fav <3

  20. Highway says:

Unexpected side-effect of Metanorn 2012 Summer Preview Post:

My backlog of old shows has grown almost larger than the new shows I’m hoping to watch! And that’s after finishing Yuru Yuri season 1. I wonder if I should stop while I’m ahead? Well, I’m certainly not going to hope that an upcoming season sucks to catch up, because better a big backlog of great things to watch than a hole with nothing good to see.

Rinne no Lagrange here I come!

    • Hawthorne says:

These previews always open my eyes to a lot of new shows as well! With all these sequels this season I can see why you might have a big backlog. But hey, a backlog is better than having nothing to watch at all. ´▽`

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh wow how did you like Yuru Yuri? Did you find it addictive like me? Because I loved that oddball series hahah

YAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Rinne no Lagrange! MORE MADOKA! MARU!!

      • Highway says:

I really enjoyed Yuru Yuri. Lots and lots of fun. 3 episodes into Rinne no Lagrange, and it seems a lot of fun so far as well. I should be able to catch up before falling too far behind S2. 🙂
