ToraDora! – 01

We meet Ryuuji, who lives next door to a huge apartment house. He lives with his mother. His mother often recall Ryuuji looks like his father, which Ryuuji doesn’t like to hear. Ryuuji is a guy who’s very much NOT gifted when it comes to looks. His eyes are stingy as a delinquent’s stare, which makes people go away from him, well maybe except for his longtime classmate Kitamura Yuusaku.

On the other hand, meet Aisaka Taiga, who looks like a living doll with her beauty, but seems to turn down everyone because she is known as the “Palmtop Tiger”: with a fierce attitude like a tiger’s, nobody also seems to be her friend except for Kushieda Minori, her best friend.

Ryuuji and Taiga’s first encounter caused a major talk-up among the school, since the two of the most notorious in terms of appearance or attitude face up each other. Taiga bumped into Ryuuji. Without even noticing it, Ryuuji is too late to receive a punch by the Palmtop Tiger.

Don’t mess with the tsundere.

After school, Ryuuji goes to their classroom to get back his bag. He was surprised on seeing a huge swarm of chairs flying like the Yuki vs Ryoko scene in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya XD…, only to see Taiga in a roll-up inside the cabinet. Ryuuji thought that it’s best if he could just ignore it but when he attempts to get his bag back, Taiga panicked and tries to take it away. Taiga then attacked by her cold and Ryuuji won his bag back, with Taiga roaring in defeat.

While reminiscing about his father, Ryuuji found a love letter inside his bag. Addressed to Kitamura-kun from Taiga, Ryuuji finally knew the reason why Taiga acted that way back in the classroom. Taiga put the love letter in the wrong bag. Ryuuji also found out that the letter really has no actual content in it when he puts it across the light. Furthermore, being awakened in the middle of the night, Ryuuji was assaulted by Taiga and she attempts to kill him, or at least crush his head to make him have amnesia. She could’ve died of embarassment but she don’t want to die yet so she tries to kill Ryuuji instead XD…

She stopped after knewing that it was alright for Ryuuji since there’s no actual content in the letter, then she faints. Ryuuji then cooks for her to make her at least cool down a little. Taiga ate Ryuuji’s fried rice rapidly, like there’s no tomorrow. So cute~ To make her feel more at ease, Ryuuji even shared some embarassing secrets to her and he slipped up his dark secret crush on Taiga’s best friend, Minori. They had a contractthen about helping each other on their love lives, and Ryuuji being Taiga’s dog… Which is out of the situation….

The next day, Ryuuji visits Taiga’s home and he founds out that her house was super dirty. Ryuuji then got attacked byﾂ his OCD/whatever super-neatness-cleaning-disorder and forces to clean it all by himself. Beautiful Taiga wakes up, surprised to see how clean her house had become and someone made breakfast for her.

Finally, I’ve been waiting for this all Summer long! The very first episode of the series gave me an ‘alright’ impression. I was surprised that the pacing was very fast and it shows more of the manga and/or novel’s storyline. Rie Kugimiya used another type of voice using this one, which is good for me because if I get to hear something like Louise or Shana, I would be bored already. Her Taiga voice is lower and more mean, which fits her very well. I also like the narration by Ryuuji, which is kinda reminiscent of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Speaking of that, I can overhear many people already comparing this to TMoHS or saying that Taiga would be the next Haruhi, which I definitely DISagree to (since Taiga isn’t ‘godlike’ at all… maybe Goddess of tsunderes would do ^_^)…
