Durarara!!x2 Shou – 06 – 07

I think we found Katyusha‘s father!

Looks like you are stuck with me for another week of Durarara x2 Shou and I have to lovely episodes to cover that mostly center around the various assassins and I have always been curious about those characters.

Assassins Are Awesome

durarara (4)

Vorona is busy learning more useless facts.

I think most Durarara fans knew that Semyon and Dennis were assassins back in the day right? Even if you didn’t know that they did a great job of reminding us; however these two episodes seemed to focus all on Vorona’s past and who she works for, but do we really think of her as anything special? I mean we have seen countless stories about children trained to be assassins over and over again in anime. I guess the special part is her ability to remember random facts because all she did as a child was read books and that made her quite the unusual kid back in the day! I will say that was probably the most interesting part of her character whenever she would ramble on about some random facts oh and we did see a bit with Vorona’s father who was all about the job until his daughter got her first kill which followed by her getting trained for years and after all of that eventually she became a pro assassin and pushed her to discover that it was quite fun or was she killing people for her fathers attention? I guess either way you slice it she was doing it for his attention and to cure her boredom. Did anyone laugh that Vorona ran into two supernatural characters? First off cutting Celty’s “head” and then trying to kidnap Anri afterwords? I will give all the villains of Durarara a pro tip! You can NOT kidnap Anri no matter how hard you try because can just use her Saika blade will just turn you into one of her mind slaves. I was surprised she didn’t cut Vorona and turn her against her fellow assassins, but that all depends if Anri would do such a thing or would she? I suppose if there was a friend in danger she would.

Everything Else

durarara (9)

Anri-“No don’t run! I dare you to break into my house again.”

While Anri and Celty deal with those pesky Assassins the other characters are doing their things ike Mikado calling Izaya a “good person” DUDE ARE YOU CRAZY? Those two words do not fit Izaya! I swear that nice guy persona is going to get Mikado in some serious trouble later on, but I have a feeling in the back of my mind that eventually Kida will show up at the right time to protect his friend which is fine because to be honest I don’t think any main character is going to die anytime soon. Enough about Mikado! I wanted to see more Akane, but sadly she got sick and that puts her on the back burner for a bit and soon she will meet Anri and Celty which has me curious how the three of them will act especially Anri who could easily be her older sister! I mean just look at their hair styles; however I don’t see Akane sticking around long since it is Celty’s job to return her to the mafia or will she stay around to cling to Shizuo? I do love that pairing even though she is trying to kill him.

Busted!

That is kracken messed up!

durarara (7)

I’m all about that plot.

End thoughts

Those two episodes were certainly fun! I loved all the info stuffs on our new Assassin characters, but the next episode looks to be a Mikado heavy episode which might be a bit boring. I will say out of all the main characters I can easily say Mikado is my least favorite and if I had a top ten he would be at the bottom or do you find him interesting? I guess after the reveal about him being the creator of the Dollars was cool back in season one but after that I can’t see what makes him all that special now when you compare him to Anri, Cetly, Shizuo, Kida or any of the new characters! That said I heard he does some crazy things later that make him better. So what did you like about these two episodes and who do you want to see more of?

Is he wearing the Pedobear(tm) logo on his hat?!?

  2. amado says:

hah, you wont be saying mikado’s the most boring one once this season gets finished.

also ironically speaking, izaya actually does help out mikado rather than cause him harm or mess him up like he did with kida.
    and for more irony,Show ▼

the special thing regarding vorona though, is explained in the same ep when they were listing 2 types of assassin/military/whateveritwas.

they’re either precise and logical like a machine, which was vorona’s father as you could tell from how he’s serious and doesnt seem to feel anything. or they go a bit stir crazy during their work like lingerin, that guy who gets his hands stuck in jars WHILE THEY WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHOOTING.

vorona is pretty much the sum of the two. she’s smart, cold and logical, but she’s also got a bit of craziness going on with how she’s obsessed with killing strong people and also stocks up on useless information.

its not that well shown in the anime, unfortunately.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I have heard a few things! One involving fire later on, but the current Mikado is the issue because he isn’t doing anything really all that special.

      Vorona is quite interesting xD

      • amado says:

id like to tell a lot of things regarding vorona, but it’d be best to wait til we pass a certain point before I start posting some spoilers, even if I do post it in spoiler tags.
or once kyokai drops by, I really want to talk to her regarding durarara ending.

        • Foshizzel says:

Much appreciated! I don’t read the novels so id like to be surprised when those moments arrive, but thanks for the info <3

I think most Durarara fans knew that Semyon and Dennis were assassins back in the day right?

I pegged them as former Russian mob hit men who had a change of heart but hit men and assassins are basically one and the same.

Seems no country is free of nutjobs and it’s exceptionally detrimental to people’s health if they are the leaders of any organized operation, military or otherwise. My time watching that guy with his hands in the vases and at one point, I just asked “How can people follow this lunatic?”

If you say her demeanor making you wary is interesting, then I guess she is. Vorona is someone that should be approached with the utmost caution. She is much a victim as a threat given her upbringing. Because of that, there’s no clear grasp on the ramifications of her actions which makes her especially dangerous. No sense of morality, period. All the blame goes to her father who is unfit to be called as such. Shows how screwed the world can be. Makes you wonder why types like him even bothered having children to begin with. He, himself, shows he’s hard, cold and calculating.

Did anyone laugh that Vorona ran into two supernatural characters? First off cutting Celty’s “head” and then trying to kidnap Anri afterwords?

Never approach the quiet ones. You never know what they have up their sleeve.

Well, it goes to show not everything can be learned by reading random books. Experience is the more effective teacher. Besides, it’s probably even more of a shock to her because she most likely based everything, her whole perception of the world on modern rationality. Highly doubtful the supernatural was considered in her mind even once so the encounters with Celty and Anri will linger for a while.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hit man and Assassin all equal the same thing in the end, but yeah I gotcha! I forgot a bit about Semyon and Dennis so it was great that we got a friendly reminder.

Verona is very interesting out of all the non supernatural powered characters she comes off as a cool character! I mean to go up against Celty and Anri who are both over powered was great!

Yep beware the silent types <3

      • amado says:

tbh I feel the anime downplayed those parts.
reading the novel, you could really feel how obsessed vorona was. even when she knew the danger and felt fear, she was still compelled to pick a fight with them.

  4. BlackBriar says:

Pretty funny that Celty travelled such a distance chasing Vorona and all this time never considered she can make a helmet made of her own shadows.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah that made me laugh a little bit! Who knew Celty was scatter brained~

      • BlackBriar says:

To add insult to injury, she went through the entire first season (a two-cour), which was a year before current events, not realizing she could do that either. Well, you live and you learn.

        • Foshizzel says:

Also the other displays of her unique powers! Like creating a flying clone and making webs? Yeah Celty has been experimenting a lot lately.

  5. BlackBriar says:

That screenshot of Mikado at his computer. I know what that site is. It’s FAKKU! He’s a naughty boy, I see.

  6. Iron Maw says:

My post seems to have once gotten lost. lol

I really need a account here.

  7. Iron Maw says:

    (Yep again…)

Well, thanks for trying anyway. heh

It was pretty long post so I’ll just give long and the short of it.

-Vorona, what like about her compared to most assassins is how she become one and how it formed her personality. It was her loved of books that led her down this path and not some sob-story childhood like usual.

-On Mikado, funny enough like him for reasons you listed. He’s essentially presented as the most normal character in the show to point one might think he didn’t belong. …Until learn you he created and currently runs one of the largest organizations in the city that operates on the internet. He even goes as far to comfort and manipulate said group into backmailing a high corporate Pharmaceutical executive who wouldn’t hesitated to kill him. Because of that he actually one of most interesting characters show, in part because Mikado has no special powers or the like. Just a lot of guts, perspection, resourcefulness and crazy enough obsession with abnormal to get things done in a way that effects a lot of people.

Like every other character in DRRR!! he has own way of doing things to solve a problem and which makes him one of the more sublter people in cast. Due to that he is the character look most forward to seeing where in terms of development because he can go anywhere with how unpredictable he can be.

A couple of spam filter notes that I’ll share again:

First, one thing that really helps us find comments that erroneously get caught in the spam filter is if you have a gravatar. Almost none of the spambots do, so seeing a picture really helps flag it in our mind when we’re scrolling through hundreds of spam comments.

Second, It usually does no good to repost the same comment again, because if whatever you wrote tripped the spam filter, submitting it again will likely trip the spam filter again, so you end up with 3 of the same (or worse, not quite the same) comments stuck. It’s actually better to post a “Hey, my comment got stuck” message immediately, so that we know what time to look for the comment. And you can tell if your comment got stuck because when the page reloads, it will actually show your comment number in the url, even if your comment doesn’t show up.

I know the spam filter can be frustrating. Unfortunately, it’s necessary, because nobody wants to see the 30 spam messages an hour we get (normally, I’ve seen it go up above 1000 an hour).

Yeesh! Well, at least you don’t have it as bad as the information bureau in Death Parade. 7000 incoming an hour.
