Log Horizon 2 – 03

Log Horizon2 (2)

William vs some giant freaky bird thing!

spring14-jrowRaid time on Log Horizon! Fosh & I talk about the execution of the raid in Log Horizon as well as the guy that’s looking to cause some trouble in Akihabara while the raiding is going on.

——————————————

spring14-foshI love raiding! Well I used to back in the day when I played the original Everquest and World of Warcraft! Nothing beats getting together with friends from all over the world to kill giant raid bosses for powerful gear and weapons, but how do they do things in the Log Horizon!? I can tell you from first hand experience raiding is not an easy thing to do…

I was fuc*ing spoiled by a guy in the comments section of the place I watch anime. Something about Serara being something she CANNOT POSSIBLY BE.

Well, whatever. My life is over.

    • BlackBriar says:

As long as you don’t know all the details, you should be safe.

      • JPNIgor says:

I know the details, that’s where the problem lies. I just didn’t tell because I don’t want to be a jerk TT.TT

Also, I messed up. It’s not Serara, it’s Tetra.

        • JPNIgor says:

Also, looking around the net, I found out that that guy could be lying. That’s a relief.

          • Foshizzel says:

Ohh yeah I assume Tetora is something special due to the way she acts I am guessing she is either an NPC or an AI for the game because what else would she really be? Last option could be a GM stuck in the game.

          • BlackBriar says:

If that’s true, then you’re in the clear.

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

I was wondering WTF you were going on as there is almost no Serara in these two arc… Now Tetora, that makes much more sense.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhhh damn that sucks man I know that feeling I was spoiled on a few series like that in some random comment section on a streaming site I think it was Attack on Titan…

This may have been brought up earlier, but wasn’t Shiroe an Engineering Grad student? I’m sure he said that in the first season, so why was he shown working out business deals in the real world? Just a little in-continuity that annoyed me.

Overall, the series is looking pretty good though I do have to wonder why Demikas has such anger management issues.

Where Shiroe is concerned, it may be because he wounded Demikas’ pride as a warrior. He acknowledged Nyanta and Naotsugu because they, themselves, fought with their own power. Whereas Shiroe most of the time issues orders and others carry it out and still ends up victorious.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohh? I almost forgot about that little bit with Shiroe lol

Demikas just needs to relax and chill about Shiroe in the past, but ah well I guess they need some drama.

I’d have to first be thoroughly mentally prepared before confronting anything equal to the magnitude of this raid quest Shiroe has organized. Going at it for three weeks straight… My patience would without a doubt be tested and most likely meet an end within the first week if no progress is made. I guess it’s a softer experience for the players since they’ve grown accustomed to residing in the game world.

I admire that with Log Horizon, though it’s a game, real world concerns are brought in to test the characters. For example: the incoming fatigue because the raid is dragging on, the shortage of supplies that risk resulting in players leaving the parties due to not enough going around. It’s like the literal representation of soldiers engaged in war. On the mention of casualties, people must have been respawning in droves. Maybe the memory loss aspect doesn’t apply in certain areas. Otherwise Shiroe would already have made something of note.

My assumption is it’s some kind of giant cockatrice fused with a phoenix for good measure. But I’m with you guys on that it’s truly freaky.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah the raid has been going on for at least three weeks! Most raids I have done literary last a month on certain boss fights, but I only raided like four nights a week for four hours so yeah it is a bit different from Shiroe and friends.

Agreed! The creators obviously took games into account so that works really well for the series, but I could see some people finding those bits to be boring especially if they are not into games or MMORPGS in general.

Right it is a cockatrice/phoenix mixture xD

I’ve felt a bit tepid with the past two episodes. It’s alot of build up to the raid, and the raid itself. But it feels too much like I’m watching someone play WoW. Only gonna be interesting for so long. I hope the show can look more to it’s trademark charms in the future. They are doing that still, but less than I would like.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I don’t think they will focus too hard on the raid stuff since they did defeat 3/4 bosses and it looks like Akatsuki’s story is going to take the focus of the next few episodes.

All in all it was an okay episode
