skylion got a posse
Ah, yes, it’s time for the Fresh Meat of Spring 2014 to jump into the arduous adventure that is 50 Questions. I think I lied at least every sixth or eight question…. I find myself in a very interesting position. I’m the newest writer during the time that Metanorn is celebrating it’s sixth year as a blog. That is incredible. There have been changes here and there from the beginning, but the center always holds. Just think about it; most of the internet has the timeliness and substance of a badly cut fart. But we’ve come along way, with me contributing as a top commenter for half that time. I’m proud to be here, and I hope I find you well and good. Remember, I lie on this page about once every sixth or tenth question. I cannot be trusted.
1. Who is your favorite male anime character?
Touma Kamijou. He’s the Implacable Man. He’s not afraid to hit a woman (well, one that wants him dead or something like that), he is the Pokemon master of harems.
2. Who is your favorite female anime character?
By now this question is easily answered, let’s just move along… (it’s Shinobu Oshino BTW)
3. What is your favorite anime soundtrack?
All three Madoka soundtracks. Awesome, cinematic, eclectic, haunting, beautiful, strange, awesome, stirring. How many words do I need? Sometimes it makes me cry…often it makes me cheer.
4. What is your favorite anime opening + animation?
Future Gazer by fripSide from A Certain Scientific Railgun OVA. The animation tells it’s own story, from Misaka working on the film edits, the girls switching uniforms, and the other three imitating the Railgun gesture.
5. What is your favorite anime ending + animation?
I’m gonna cheat on this and just name a performer, cause I love all of them and none of the animation is a slouch at all. Yanagi! She has great range, and none of the ED tracks she has worked on has failed to leave me in the mood all ED are meant for; wanting more, being reminded, sharply, of the world you were just in, so you don’t forget. But I will name a favorite cause it’s kinda foolish of me to do otherwise.
6. What is your favorite anime scene?
Wow. Far too numerous to list. It took me a bit to think about it. The “walking with the generations” scene in Usagi Drop, the one where they were concerned if Rin had a tree planted for her or not. It kinda took my breath away in how beautifully the four of these characters were portrayed.
Sorry I couldn’t find a gif
7. If you could meet an anime character, who would it be?
Well, I have room in my shadow for a certain blonde LOLi vampire…seriously, she’s walking history, and I would love to spend hours talking about that. She has all the biases an older person has and that would be fun to listen to, argue with and debate. Plus who doesn’t love donuts. Ah, Shinobu Oshino. Perfect in every way.
8. What anime character is similar to you in terms of personality?
None of them? All of them? I don’t think I can answer this one…So, since I have a fickle memory, I’ll ask for help. Who is just a touch eccentric, incredible curious about the world, and has a deep love of history, literature, and the sciences. IOW who is the mildly touched nerd? Post your answers in comments!
9. What is your favorite thing about anime?
As a medium it can go anywhere and everywhere, and to any time imagined or yet to be. The same tools are used to create any genre or combination thereof. While this is true of live film, with animation you can stick much closer to the imagination and just go wild.
10. What is your least favorite thing about anime?
The censored/uncensored thing? If you have to obscure half the scene, you just might be doing it wrong. I mean, it’s body parts, they have n’t changed all that much in like, forever. Why are they a high exchequer that we have to play this game?
11. Who is your favorite anime couple?
Taiga and Ryuuji!
12. Who is your favorite anime animal?
Don’t have one?
13. What anime would make a good game?
Academy City MMORPG. Making a character would be a nightmare, cause everything has to balance in games; everyone starts off on the same footing, numbers wise, at least in theory. And Academy City is very much about the opposite of that. But so long as I could level up my Skirt Flipping Skill, all would be OK. So Grand Theft Auto: Academy City?
14. What game would make a good anime.?
I don’t play them often enough, or at all really these days. But I would love to see WoW animated. For the HORDE!
15. What was the first anime you ever watched?
The 1970’s localization of Space Battleship Yamato. Our Star Blazers!
16. Do you ever think you’ll stop watching anime?
I already have a time or two before, so it’s probable, but in the low probs now. Everyone burns out on stuff, I haven’t read comics in over a decade, only too really get into the Green Lantern war stuff before it started to suck. If anything would make me leave it would be lack of time, cause that is always a concern with anything you love brushing against all your commitments. I don’t think I’ll pull the “I’m too old card” cause….lame.
17. What is your favorite genre of anime?
Most of them. Do some genre mashing…cause that’s always interesting. But I would have to say that a really funny rom-com will always catch my attention. That aside something like Academy City, a franchise that mixes things up with action, some romance, good comedy, fun characters, skirt flipping. Do those things and just call it the awesome skylion genre.
18. What is your least favorite genre of anime?
Badly done reverse harem? That Diabolik Lover was just horrible.
19. Are you open to watching anime with people you know?
I’m assuming “people you know” are non-fans? If so, it depends on the show. You have to pick ‘em right! My Mom really liked the Goosehouse ED from Gin no Saji 2…
20. Have you ever been to Japan?
No. And I don’t travel well.
21. What anime was the biggest let down for you?
Galilei Donna. So much potential just wasted on bad writing? I anticipated it for like two seasons, and it had hardly any real PV material. Maybe they should have had more stuff before it aired? Would they advertise how much bad they had in store?
22. What anime was better than expected?
23. What is the best anime fight scene?
I was gonna say Touma vs. Accelerator. That was awesome, but clearly there is something more awesome than that! So, in final answer. Archer Installed Illya vs. Dark Sabre. Holy Holy Holy Crap. Such fine animation, such great characters.
24. Who is your anime waifu?
Taiga Aisaka and Shinobu Oshino have joint custody of me. It can get ugly.
25. What was your favorite video game as a child?
Pitfall and the incredibly awful Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was Indiana Jones addicted when I was a kid.
26. Most embarrassing moment?
Well, there was that one time I was born….that moment hasn’t really ended. Seriously, I don’t know how I put up with it.
27. Can you drive or own a car?
28. Are you mature?
I’m full chuuni! And I wouldn’t have it any other way. What is mature anyway? Do I pay my bills, take responsibility for my actions? Yep. I try not to live by other people’s standards of what things should be. I take my queue’s from my father, he always told me to get my house in order, and then play like no one’s business.
29. What year were you born?
30. Do you prefer cat’s or dog’s?
31. Describe yourself physically.
The Female Titan? I dunno, just some dude, pretty average looking, probably smaller in build and height that most would think.
32. What would you name your first child?
We call her Maggie, short for Margaret. Took us forever to agree on that, as we wanted something older and not much in use. Her middle name is Rhiannon, and everyone assumed her mother and I were huge Fleetwood Mac fans. Nope, we were just nerdy 90s era McWiccan’s. But it stuck. She is stormy! Her desire to see Madoka got me back into anime. Then she ditched me after less than a year of father-daughter tandem anime fandom. Children are terrible!
33. What is the worst injury you’ve ever had?
I’ve been lucky to have received only had minor boo-boo’s. But I do have Crone’s disease. Yeah, it sucks. But that is life.
34. What is your worst habit?
Procrastination would be one of them, but I get to anxious and try to do all the things I can at once. So yeah, there you go…
35. Do you drink or smoke?
Yes to both, all things in moderation. Smoking is a vice, no other way to explain it. When I drink, I like to drink for taste, rather than to get hammered. For instance, as of this writing, my locality has a cold snap. This calls for a merlot; relaxing and warming, and I don’t get to blotto after just a glass and half.
36. Do you have a tattoo?
Yes. It needs touching up.
That’s a black lizard on a sun. You probably cannot tell. You’re probably thinking, “He doesn’t have a gryphon tattoo?” Yeah. By the time that desire came around I was rather done with tattoos.
37. Are you a morning person or a night person?
I’m a night owl suffering a morning person’s dread. I could naturally go on for all hours, and used to once upon a time. But everything shifted to mornings about 15 or so years ago, and even though I mostly adjusted, I still long for the deep dark hours.
38. Have you ever slept past midday?
Not for a very long time.
39. Do you regret anything?
Well, I am human. No. seriously. I mention my Dad above, and how close I am to him these days, but that was not always the case. We had a falling out, and I avoided him, and by extension the rest of my family for much longer than I should have. I can never get that time back, and I can only cherish the time we have now. But that’s not a bad thing at all.
40. Can you count the number of friends on one hand?
Real life friends, very much so. But I treasure them. But it’s cool to live in a digital world were everyone can socialize and develop friendships and acquaintances. I thank all of you for enriching my life in one way or another.
41. Do you wear glasses?
I will need reading glasses sooner rather than later.
42. Are you a picky eater?
I dislike raw or undercooked onion, other than that it’s all fair game. One of my favorite foods, the cheese coney, they sometimes put diced white onions on them and it just is so bleh….leave ‘em off mine, lad!
43. Would you die for someone?
If that would solve the problem yes, but who know’s what happens after I’m gone. I’d much rather live and invest and sacrifice for someone.
44. If you could have any superpower?
I would be a Time Lord…
45. Do you believe in the supernatural?
To me the natural world holds so much amazement. There is so much to learn! So yeah, why do I even need the supernatural?
46. Would you rather be rich or famous.
Rich…I could buy fame. Then I could sell my own designer cologne and get richer!
47. Have you ever committed a crime?
48. Pirates or Ninjas? Ghost or time traveler?
The first two are overrated. But I would kill for a TARDIS!
49. Does someone have a crush on you?
Not that I am aware of.
50. Are you in a relationship.
I do date. But there are months of time where I don’t even consider it. I like to keep busy, and those that share my interests are usually the same way. Hooking up is a challenge. So, currently between as of this writing.
…and that is your skylion, well fifty little bits of him here and there with a somewhat snarky bow on top. And I didn’t lie once.
