Kate won the gold in winter moe olympics

Move over Natasha it’s time for Renge to take the stage this week! I wonder if we will learn more about her past and why she decided to join White Light.

 Secret identities exposed?!

These two are perfect for each other.

Kate-“I want to watch anime!”                 Natasha-“Noooo! I am watching the science channel.”

One of the strangest things about having a secret identity in anime is the use of a mask to create a different persona much like Lelouch of Code Geass who turns into the badass Zero, but why am I bringing him up? Because I remember there were a few episodes where the main characters tried to figure out his identity much like the members of Zvezda did with White Light this week but what am I getting at with all this? Nothing much other than me thinking that that I would think that the characters would recognize the voice coming from the masked person in question to discover who they really were! I mean sure as anime fans we learn to accept things like that but I still find it funny, then again if the main characters figured out the secret identity of a person based off their voice it would not be as fun or shocking right?

Now to talk about a few moments from the episode that stood out for me like that fight at the start of the episode? I was like damn this fight animation is awesome and thanks to tumblr for the gif cause I can not make them myself, but anyway did anyone else bust out laughing when Renge’s mask fell off revealing that goofy face under it which we learned afterwards was just another mask?! After that moment I was like wait a minute did Renge train with kakashi from Naruto to learn the art of hiding your face? That and I had no idea that the members of White Light have to keep their own identities hidden from each other? I guess that is one way to prevent spies from sneaking into your organization! Also it was a surprise to me that Miki aka White Egret is basically idolized at school, but when she is on the job Miki is secretly Renge’s subordinate? That was kind crazy and I wonder if she will figure it out or will we ever explore that again subject again? Before I wrap up I have to say those beam saber weapons Renge and Miki were swinging around this week were awesome and I have to mention Asuta who is the worst hide and seek player ever! Way to fail and hide in Renge’s locker.

Extra conquest

    A mask under a mask…
    Take note, American superheroes!

    • Foshizzel says:

Indeed or hire a body double to throw them off your trail or just be super cool like Tony Stark and reveal your identity to the whole world~

      • BlackBriar says:

Tony Stark had a lot of nerve revealing himself like that. But hey, so is Clark Kent/Superman and Peter Parker/Spider-Man hiding in plain sight working a day jobs in places swarming with reporters.

          True that BB!

Saw this live the other night on TokyoMX…

    Tentacle Rape.

  3. HannoX says:

I suppose Renge’s undermask (and presumably Miki’s) could be constructed in such a way as to distort her voice so she can’t be recognized by it.

The members of Zvexda really like the medals Kate hands out. Or is it not the medals themselves but that they’re something Kate gave them?

    • Foshizzel says:

I thought of that as well or Asuta is just super dumb? I did notice that Asuta changed his voice when he spoke to Renge after saving her.

I bet the members of Zvezda treasure anything Kate gives them <3

  4. skylion says:

We just can’t have nice things like superheroes disguising their voices. Cause that leads to Bale’s Batman voice in Dark Knight and Kevin Conroy saying he sounds like an idiot. It’s hard being a hero, yo!

Just as hard as a secret identity. I wonder if Renge is a complete klutz just to waylay any suspicions? But then, she couldn’t fight a complet noob like Dva without getting into an interesting situation.

And now we ask the age old question. Were the tentacles really necessary?

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

      And the answer would be:

      Always Yes.

    • Foshizzel says:

Dude Skylion! You should watch this hilarious College Humor sketch with Batman choosing his voice! It will have you dying, but yeah altering your tone of voice is one way to keep people from finding out who you really are.

Yep Dva and Renge are the perfect pair <3

Not really but I heard that this episode was going to have more fanservice than story even though I feel there wasn’t a whole lot of service going around…

      • skylion says:

There was a big old lack of service, so I guess the creators are big trolls?

They cannot fanservice out Kate much more, and Natasha is walking fanservice.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I assumed it was going to be all Natasha service, but they turned that towards Renge which is much better! Personally I don’t want the series to service up Kate because there is already enough of that through fanart >.<

          • skylion says:

Oh, yeah that fan art! You know it! I have no idea what you are talking about…..

This is such a fun show to watch. It’s so different for me that it makes fun out of its dramatic moments. Most shows have the serious parts and the comedic parts, but this show is always comedic parts, even as it moves whatever plot along. And it pulls off the recklessness well.

    • Foshizzel says:

AGREED! Zvezda is just fun to watch I love how goofy and silly things get especially with Kate as the leader which makes me feel that Sometimes Kate sees the world as her personal playground to do whatever the hell she wants and it works.

      • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, she acts likes the world belongs to her already, doesn’t try to hide it and has her subordinates eating out of her hand. Who raised this kid?

        • skylion says:

…typical parents? You should see the whole family around my twin grand nieces?

        • Foshizzel says:

I hope we learn about Kate’s parents soon because they must have raised her to believe that she can take over the world or the entire universe.

      • Highway says:

I think my favorite aspect is that the silly parts aren’t even really trying to be silly. They’re just silly due to the setup and the characters. Not forced, not worked. Just Asuta trying to interact with people who are not right, whether it’s Kate, Roboko, Plamya, Natasha, Odin, or Renge.

  6. BlackBriar says:

Renge used a nice feint having two masks. She’s smarter than we give her credit for. Now that’s being prepared. Asuta was right on the money figuring out she was White Robin but got blindsided. But now Renge is beginning to fall for Asuta’s alter ego. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Is it really bad form to flirt with the enemy? 😉

It’s actually a good idea the White Light members concealing their true identities from each other. That method serves as a better way to keep their enemies from using friends and family as leverage which is the first thing to expect when fighting on this kind of scale. Can’t use them if they don’t have any personal knowledge.

  7. MR.KLAC says:

well at least one thing known yea white faction keep their identity a very secret going double mask?

give yet never notice same hair style oh this is anime world talking on.

& who knew jimon can chop the squid in pieces with holding renge-robin & sword like I HAVE THE POWER!!!

  8. d-LaN says:

BTW, I recently read the White Light spin-off manga and its revealed that Robin/Egret does odd jobs like peeling potato off-duty for their payroll XD

And lol, Kate pretends to be an innocent child to let Robin blast Dva off. There also the delicious narrator switching frm Renge to Asuta in the end with Robin complaining abt it.
