Kate-“That was a great meal! Now bring out the cake.”

Welcome back readers! So yes I plan on blogging this series for the winter anime season and to give everyone a quick update I will be dropping my reviews for Nobunaga the fool so I will say sorry to the ones looking forward to those posts I just can’t blog a series that nobody will give the time of day because it has a lot of issues so yeah I think Sekai Seifuku is a much better choice, but anyway! It is finally time for some loli conquest~

Evil family time

White Robin-“I could have sworn the enemy base was right here!”

It seems my predictions might be coming true from my first impressions based around some characters looking for a place to belong or they secretly wanting to have a family? I guess that is really up to the viewer to decide, but the majority of this second episode followed Asuta kind of meeting various “special” members of Zvezda along with him struggling at the thought of joining Kate and helping her take over the world which we all know will happen eventually. While that was part of the story this week I enjoyed watching the loud and crazy ninja girl Itsuka Shikabane interact with Asuta and did you notice her bedazzled sheath complete with a cell phone accessory hanging off the end? I guess she treats it kind of like a cell phone case and I think everyone saw the whole gimmick of her not knowing how to cook coming a mile away right? I was like wow maybe she should resort to using her food as a weapon in the future?! The next hilarious moment was that short screen with Natasha aka the insane scientist or can we call her the lazy scientist instead? Either way I laughed as she explained how things worked to Asuta and the last fun scene followed Renge trying her best to find the enemy base that she was standing in front of it the entire time! Whoa girl those were some impressive detective skills. Now that I mentioned Renge this time we also learned that she is a member of an organization called White Light who are against Zvezda, but I was calling them a poor man’s Gatchaman because it looks like they are obviously bird themed since Renge’s code name is White Robin and we have Miki Shirasagi and she is known as White Egret and both of them are given commands by a mysterious person? I wonder if there are any more members of that team, but I will simply call them the good guys for now or will they turn out to be the real villains in the end?

Extra world conquest

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

You know, I was having too much fun to even care they were doing the same, overused, “she’s a bad cook” gag again. I even thought that was hilarious (“what is this sense of defeat I feel in the back of my throat”). I haven’t had this much fun watching a first couple episodes in a while.

    • Rathje says:

And I have no idea why the big guy cracks me up every time I see him, but he just does.

    • Foshizzel says:

Same! I was having a lot of fun watching the characters act strange this week and I agree the gag of “shes a bad cook” does get overplayed! I mean why couldn’t she be good at that? I suppose if she was then there would be no use for the main dude right?

Hahah yes the big guy is quite fun I wonder if he has something with the science girl? Just kidding…

Hi sorry to intrude like this, but I’d like to answer that question about why Itsuka can’t be a good cook at all.
I mean, she’s called ‘The Flame’ (in russian), so she’s bound to burn everything, meals included. It’s another subtle pun out there ^^/

        See ya!

        • Highway says:

It’s definitely not an intrusion, and that’s a good comment. I sure didn’t make any connection between her name and her cooking ability, but that’s a good one.

    • Dualash says:

It was especially funny when Asuta’s life flashed across his eyes and then he saw the universe; that was hilarious.

  2. MR.KLAC says:

well give at least give it show it bit more sure we see more into zvezda members give real identity & yet jimon be good cook.

& should we mention base can move anywhere yea wait for dub reveal & if i was right on casting for kate’s dub yea indeed KLAC so right on.

    • Foshizzel says:

Zvezda has great characters and yeah it was great seeing another side to some of the other members.

Hopefully Funimation dubs this instead of Sentai…

  3. BlackBriar says:

Man, was this episode funny. Instead of cooking, Itsuka should stick to being a ninja or start a new outlet in bio-weaponry because that didn’t look like food. It was so heinous that it got censored. Just for that, I’m wondering if she’s related to Kore wa Zombie’s Seraphim. She is a ninja, after all.

The baffling thing is how fast they were able to move their base and in a short amount of time. I can’t wait to look on Asuta’s face when he realizes joining with Kate means going against his friend from school.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hell ya! What a fun first episode and agreed BB she really should resort to bio-weaponry from now on and wow now that you mention it Seraphim was the same…

Yep I think Asuta finally realised he has officially joined Zvezda LOL

This show really pulls off the lunatic aggregation of weirdos well. Natasha’s laziness, Itsuka’s aggression, Roboko’s… whatever. I liked a lot that this episode wasn’t much of Kate, it really gave the rest of the crew a chance to become more than just henchmen.

    • HannoX says:

I don’t think Natasha’s being lazy. She’s just putting into practice the well known physics law of “Conservation of Energy.” Okay, so she’s got a different spin on it. But you’ve got to hand it to her–a walking bed so she doesn’t have to get up is pretty ingenious. I wonder what kind of super weapons she’s going to come up with for Zvezda.

      • BlackBriar says:

“Conservation of Energy.”, eh? So, in Natasha’s own way, she’s following the path of Houtarou Oreki. The difference is she has entire arsenal of gadgets to help surpass him with ease.

  5. Rathje says:

I thought the scene with White Robin just about seeing the blatantly obvious “Zvezda HQ” sign but always getting distracted was nicely understated and well done.

About died the last time when a hand whips out of the bushes and flips the sign around just in time. And then you find out Asuta did it.

Yeah, there’s no hope for him now. He’s sealed his fate as a lifetime flunky from this moment forward.

I love how that one little quirky gesture made it pretty clear he actually fits in pretty naturally with these weirdos.

    • Highway says:

That scene was really well directed, you were just waiting for it to pan across and Renge to see “Zvezda Headquarters”, but she never did.

    • skylion says:

He sealed his fate when he played name games with Playma. Any other person would have just stared on blank.

      • Highway says:

This code name stuff is too confusing. I’m like “Who is Fosh talking about with Itsuka?” cause I thought her name was Plamya (which is a way cooler name). But Dva is a terrible name.

None of the code names in Zvezda are as bad as ‘DOGOO’ tho. Talk about the worst name for a defense group. Defense Organization aGainst Outer (space) Objects. ugh ugh ugh.

        • skylion says:

Both subgroups had a handy guide.

          • Highway says:

Ahh, it’s licensed on CR, so that’s where I watch it.

            • skylion says:

Actually Chtuko had a handy guide, but their script had way to much derpy localization to it for me. FFF did not have a handy guide, but a commenter did post the meanings. Taking all three sources I prefer FFF, even thou they did take a ton of meaning out of the jokes made on Asuta’s name. Actually, I might just prefer to CR it, depending on if I am busy or not on Saturdays.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yep! That and I use MAL as a ref for names cause sometimes I forget them >.>

  6. CarVac says:

This show is tied with Space Dandy for best execution of the shows I am watching.

Advantage originals; they almost always are paced and scripted better than adaptations.

  7. Namika says:

I have only one thing on my mind right now. This show is so cute O^O
