Campione! — 11: So we now have the new girl, Ena. Honestly, her personality may be the hardest for me to tolerate whereas Erica and Liliana was much easier. She apparently lacks common sense where everyday is concerned. On the bright side, she is hot and seems to be the girl in the harem that Erica can’t manipulate or blackmail. More of a thorn in her side.

The let down in this episode was the fighting. It wasn’t engaging as the previous ones at all. It’s like they were barely trying.

Maybe Athena has developed a Stockholm syndrome-like obsession for Godou since he beat her and let her continue to live. You’d think doing something like stalking and/or helping a human would be considered beneath a goddess like her.

WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO CAMPIONE!?!?! *disappointed*

    Also… an evil Mio doesn’t sound too bad~ hehehehe~:P

  3. Highway says:

Campione! – What do you guys mean ‘happened’? It’s been like this the whole time. That’s why we’ve started calling it ‘Campy-one’ in the irc channel. There’s no way it’s got a coherent plot or a point or anything like that. The only things that surprised me this episode were 1) that Ena didn’t poison Godou when she gave him some tea and 2) that that moron still drinks things given to him by other people. “Here, have a drink, Godou!” “Thanks, Liliana!” *huuurrrrrkkkkk* “OMG I’m paralyzed now!”

Maybe it’ll be interesting to see what happens to Yuri when she finally shows up after Ena uses the sword. Somehow I doubt it.

Campy-one! That kinda works, though “campy” implies a self awareness that I’m not sure the show has. The narrator can poke fun at the show, but he doesn’t appear outside the previews, and the rest of the show doesn’t have me convinced that it’s knowing what it’s doing.

      • Highway says:

No, the show doesn’t have much self-awareness, about anything. But the name works as a play on the name, and looking at it sincerely I don’t think you can argue much that the elements are there. But like a B-movie, even though it’s trying to be sincere, it’s just not able to pull off being successful at sincerity.

Like you say, the narrator is kind of arch about the show, I wonder if they wrote those segments in after realizing how bad the show overall was, and were trying to salvage at least a ‘silly, so it’s ok’ vibe.

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai — 10: There was a lot of emotion and despair this time around. Something that is rare in this anime. I was really pissed at Darunia’s attitude. The situation’s bad enough so being a selfish, cold hearted bitch isn’t helping the cause. She needed a slap to the face. Surprisingly, Ilia is the considerate one given her personality.

The highlight was Lisara struggling with her tsundere persona to try and confess her feelings to Ryousuke before his time runs out. Even though it will look like Ryousuke must be with Mina, in my opinion, it will inevitably fall to him being with Lisara. What was weird was Lisara’s injuries. After a week of not fighting and living as an inhuman, supernatural being with abilities, you’d think all those bruises would have disappeared by now.

    • Highway says:

I got the impression they were more burns than bruises. And while they are capable of casting spells and regenerating clothing based on energy, I don’t know if they can really regenerate their skin that way.

Besides, I think it’s actually a really cool design choice. Shows like this never have permanent disfigurement of the main character (and main eye candy). It makes her look weird, but not really ‘bad’, and Ryousuke doesn’t seem to see it at all. I like that they are leaving them and also that they’re not making a big fuss about it.

      • Karakuri says:

I like the fact that they kept it as well. It’s like they’re acknowledging that the fight happened. …Plus anime injuries never seem to last one frame to the next, let alone an entire episode.

  5. Highway says:

Imouto? – Whaddaya know, it was a setup! I thought the episode was actually pretty fun, although it was really skippy through. Yuzurina is his sister, go to party, everyone comes to party, talks to one guy, searches for Miyabi, overhears sinister plot with Ikusu, finds Miyabi, gets the moves put on him, sees the other girls off. It felt like a lot of stuff happened, and we missed a lot of it. I agree it is frustrating that Sagara is so intent on being moody that she can’t just tell Shougo that Yuzurina isn’t his sister. And Tendou-kaichou ended up pregnant! Well, at least she looked that way getting back in the car.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate manages to make the episodes feel like you came out of them with just tons of information from 22 minutes, with a great story about the election, interest in multiple girls, family issues, and overall great focus on the characters. Imouto, you come out of it wondering “how did they manage to pass 22 minutes of animation and do and tell us almost nothing?”

    • Karakuri says:

I never said it above, but I did enjoy this episode more than most of the previous ones. This episode was oddly Miyabi themed considering that Konoe seemed like the default girl, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I like most of the characters once they move away from the question if they’re the imouto or not. Sagara is the one I like the least and only because I couldn’t for the life of me describe her personality or what makes it different from the other harem members (hell, I didn’t even know that her first name was Mei until I bothered looking up if I was spelling her name wrong just now). The whole imouto thing doesn’t help with that either.

Is Koi Senkyo that great? I vaguely remember hearing good things about it, but I didn’t think the first episode was all that spectacular.

      • Highway says:

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate is my favorite show for summer (and I’ve gushed thousands of words about it on SGK). The way they convey information, and treat people with honesty and forthrightness is really nice. It’s not super serious, and can be funny and a little silly, but it’s really weaving a great tale as it gets to the end.

  6. Highway says:

Hagure Yuusha: Was this the first episode without any random sexual harassment? I think so. Akatsuki didn’t even take his chance with Kuroneko and Izumi. Guess that poison took the edge off too much. I don’t even count that whatever-it-was that wrapped up Miu, since it didn’t do anything but pick her up.

I thought the fighting was actually pretty good this episode. Not a lot of chatter, and lots of good tag team attacks, even though they ended up being for naught when Dragon Phil faked them out. Looks like the finale next week, and hopefully it’s a good one.

    • Foshizzel says:

Amen the fighting was decent and that freaking dragon made me laugh <3

    • BlackBriar says:

With so much action and chaos going on, there’s no room for sexual harassment. The series is making it up to us for being one sided.

      • Foshizzel says:

Totally! They should skip every scene that has more than three to four sentences and just get to the boob shot+someone getting owned by the main character repeat for 13 episodes.

  7. BlackBriar says:

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica — 11: Phil’s (That is still such a stupid name for someone of his character) hidden power: Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Seto Kaiba should sue for copyright infringement because he won’t be happy about this. Instead of a “hero” title, he’s won the title of “deviant”. And he must be confused because one moment, he’s trying to kill Miu and trying to rape her in the other. What I was thinking at time was: “When Akatsuki arrives and kicks your ass, you have my permission to die”.

The time spent between the center characters has paid off. I admire the trust Akatsuki put in Izumi and Kuroneko to go on their own and not be overprotective because he’s clearly the strongest. And the most interesting one to me is Izumi. Given her fetish for being into girls, she willingly hangs around Akatsuki with little fuss and that reminds me of how Nisemonogatari’s Kanbaru is around Araragi.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hagure: HELL YA! Kaiba should have sued him big time! Phil is a dumb “side villain” who needs to get his face kicked in by Akatsuki and I hope it happens soon because that guy has overstayed his welcome…

Yeah I liked watching Kuroneko actually fight with that hammer! I always wanted to see the various character weapons appear, but sadly their fight with the dragon was cut short by a lame filler boss T____T

LOL @Izumi! Honestly she probably sticks around to leech off his harem or she REALLY wants another shot at Miu? Either way I don’t mind that pairing.

  8. BlackBriar says:

Who Is Imouto? — 10: What a decent episode. I was right to be uneasy about Yuzurina but this takes it to another level. My guess is that it was her on the other end of the conversation with Seri.

And I have a theory: Last episode, Yuzurina was making various analysis on the girls in Shougo’s life while in the bath tub. Maybe she was doing it to learn their weaknesses and use them to her advantage on Shougo. She spoke to Miyabi alone so there’s no telling what she put in her head. All this might be jealousy from being an illegitimate child, being hidden away in shame and she’ll use it to tear Shougo’s image to shreds and usurp his position as the next president. She did say she wanted the world to know about her and that it was her father’s scandal.

I didn’t care much at first but Miyabi had a fair amount of development. She has a good chance of being with Shougo but I’m hoping it’ll be Konoe. It’s a 50/50 chance for each of them and at this point, the other girls hardly seem relevant to the story.

    • Foshizzel says:

Imouto: I SOLVED THE CASE! Are you ready for my epic reveal? Drum roll please…the bathtub is IMOUTOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    • Highway says:

Yeah, I don’t know if Miyabi trying to bed Shougo when drunk will work for her or against her. I agree it’s a two-girl show, and I’m pulling for Konoe, but that’s because I’ll always take Hime-cut + Creampuffs over Twin-Tailed Pseudo-Loli, especially the RandomlyTsunTwinTailedPseudoLoli. I don’t mind Tsundere, but I like a progression, not a random switch.

  9. Highway says:

Boku H: Finally got to see this episode, and I’m actually pretty stunned. I thought it was an excellent episode of the show, and really did a great job both refocusing the show on the characters and in setting up the final conflict. Lisara is in such a bind, she’s trying to convince herself that she doesn’t love Ryousuke in order to save his life (nice twist on “I just want my beloved to be happy”). Meanwhile, everyone else knows the truth, and Ryousuke knows who he loves as well. I also like the integrity they’ve built into Ryousuke. He’s always had it, even as a perverted guy, but this really shows it. He’s just not an unthinking person, he has his sense of right and wrong and fairness. And while Tarnia is not the nicest person, she’s certainly correct: he is the catalyst for all of this, and he has an appointed date of death. Maybe if the whole world hadn’t gone to hell in a handbasket, the calculus would be different, but this is what they’re dealing with now.

I do have to wonder, tho: exactly how many ‘Royal family’ members are there, that have gone around saving humans? There can’t be that many, given what we’ve seen of Grimwald. So how many humans could they really have extended the lives of?

  10. AllenAndArth says:

heyy, don’t say that campione is bad…i’m when we find the plot it’s gonna make sense…I think…yeah…
    and
hagure’s objective is already laid out… harem type with action series…and it’s over…okay with probably some bad blood in the almost normal father-son relationship, witch most likely will be season 2… the anime is scheduled to be finished in the next episode(at least this season

    • Foshizzel says:

Hagure: Thank god! That series is soooooo boring! Oh god they are doing a second season? I better prepare to pass on that one xD

      • Highway says:

You think it’s boring? I think it’s gotten a lot better from the ‘boring’ standpoint. It’s not ‘good’, but it’s definitely interesting. It definitely induces too much eye-rolling and “Riiiiiiiight…” responses to be considered ‘good’. But at least in the second half of the season, they’ve been trying. It’s even almost got me not thinking that Vice-Prez Haruka is Tsukiumi, although Kuzuha is still Kuroneko. And Miu is turning more into Rias as we go.

  11. AllenAndArth says:

man I gotta say one thing… phil is an ugly dragon…
