Eureka Seven AO – 03

Welcome back to more Eureka Seven AO! I hope everyone enjoyed the short recording with me and Jrow for episode two; because this week I am joined by Hawthorne and Karakuri along with myself and Jrow for our weekly Eureka recording. This week, Ao is kidnapped and saved by Gazelle to fight a huge G monster in the sky.

Nirvosh-“If anyone makes an arm joke, I swear I will crush you.”

Starting things off this week, we pick right up with Naru and Ao staring at the Nirvosh together; however, afterwards they are ambushed by some local island folks that kidnap Ao! Why? Because they are his biggest fans of course… just kidding! They just hate his super cool green hair. After that he wakes up to find Naru’s father in the room and they have a short talk about Ao’s mother basically giving him a run down on her past. Apparently Eureka fell from the sky and Ao’s grandpa along with a few others found her and saved her life. Without this kind act from the locals, Ao would have died with his mother.

Elena-“WHOA! My machine gets free wifi? AWESOME! Time to obtain some…free…music.”

Elena-“What are you going to do now?”                 Rebecka-“Rap battle to save the island of course.”

Elena-“I can see some plot falling from the sky.”                     Eureka-“Crap! Forgot to pack a parachute…”

After a few flashbacks, Ao is saved by Gazelle and his friends. The leader of Generation blue also shares an important bit of info with Ao about the past involving a young girl with green hair that called the machine he piloted the Nirvosh. Hooray more connections for Ao to make. While Ao decides if he should save his island from doom, the members of Generation blue fight off a small invasion force sent by the massive G-monster in the sky or as they call these monster’s “secret”; oooh how mysterious…

Shut up! No one wants to listens to sad emo country music about your dog.

Ao-“Dude, can you play something better before I kill myself?!”

Ao-“Whoa, that was the fastest rescue ever.”                   Gazelle-“Nope, just clever editing bro.”

Ao-“Awesome, is that your home base or something?”              Gazelle-“Nope…that is a giant WTF monster.”

So, Ao decides to save the world after visiting his grandpa after running off with Gazelle to pilots the Nirvosh once again; even though the people on the island seem to blame him and his missing mother for the scrub corals appearing again. However, Ao pushes those hateful feelings to the side and proves he is a bigger person and prepares to defend the island, because he really loves his home just as much as the next person, bringing this episode to an end.

Ao-“I think I need some bigger guns to take this big boss out.”

Hooray! Another fine episode of Eureka Seven Ao this week, even though there was a lack of amazing mecha action without the Nirvosh flying around kicking ass! We did have plenty of mech fun with Elena and Fleur and their interesting machines. I really loved how each machine looked like it specialized in different forms of “combat”. With Elena’s machine it appears to be more of a long range support type with those large cannons, while Fleur’s seems to be better suited for close combat? However, we really haven’t seen those machines in action yet! Hopefully next week we can see those two girls going all out soon.

Speaking of Elena for a moment, did anyone else laugh with her fake vocaloid cosplay and that Ranka Lee pose? That was so amazing and hilarious. I know we mentioned that moment on the recording, but it was still one of the more stand out moments… I just like the various personalities in this series so far from Tanovic, Elena, Fleur and Rebecka. I can’t wait to see more interactions between these characters or I should say I can’t wait to see Ao joining Generation blue eventually. Oh and Noah was his usual cute sloth self, but I couldn’t help but grin watching him hang on Tanovic’s arm like that. Maybe he is so stealthy no one seems to care who he hangs on to?

What else? Oh right all the bits and pieces from the wonderful world of flashbacks, but this time we got lots of information on how Eureka arrived on the island in the first place and why everyone hated her. As much as I loved the info dump I still have my questions on what this new earth is!? Are we dealing with a paralle universe? Maybe this is part of an alternate timeline? Or more like something different altogether? Either way I have my fingers crossed for an eventual connection between original Eureka and this new series. Last thing to mention. Black haired Eureka was nice! She did look more like Talho… but still pretty nice.
