Touka-“Looks like I caught a keeper!” Akina-“….Wait no you can’t keep me!”
|Hooray! The last Yozakura Quartet OVA has finally arrived, but does this final installment live up to the previous two episodes? I would easily shout HELL YA! So far I have enjoyed the first two so I have high hopes for this final episode. Anyway enough rambling from me, it’s time to start up this quick review! En I hope you enjoy it.Plot picks right up with the final show down against the evil Zakuro! She manages to make a quick escape taking Rin as a hostage and heads into town to cause some chaos! Unknown to her the residents were evacuated to safety. With some cleaver teamwork from Ao, Akina, Hime, Kyousuke, Kotoha and Touka they successfully assist Akina who uses his demon cleansing power to free Zakuro’s from her evil aura; in the end Zakuro returns to her happy self and shares a place with Rin.|
Zakuro-“I am ready for my close up! What do you mean my face is falling off?”
Starting things off we jump right back into the showdown with Zakuro, she uses some new black shadow power to trap Kyousuke turning him into a puppet to fight against Hime. This shadow manages to grab a hold of Hime but she breaks free! Of course you can’t have Hime as your personal pet you crazy redhead. However she gets really annoyed by their tactics and snatches Rin up with her shadow powers and retreats to the town to kill everyone. Unknown to Zakuro the town was already evacuated before she can toy with the lives of the local residents; this quickly pisses her off even more! All she wants to do is murder people.
Kyousuke-“Are you related to Ika Musume? WTF IS THIS INK?!”
Hime-“Bow before your master!” Zakuro-“You are just lucky that scarf adds 20 extra bad ass points.”
While Zakuro pretends to be a giant gecko, Kyousuke talks to Hime who feels down after failing to save Rin who said she hated everyone before leaving with Zakuro. Who could seriously hate Hime? She is pure awesome! Ah well she gets out of her depressed funk and rushes off to save her zombie friend. Akina in the meantime comes up with a plan after he gets thrown off a roof and saved by Touka; he asks Ao’s to use her communication power to tell the others to lure Zakuro to a nearby building to excute a plan he came up with.
Kyousuke-“Take my hand! Hime!” Hime-” It’s not like I want help to stand or anything….”
Hime just invented a new sport! Ambulance surfing.
Zakuro-“Buhahahah I will steal all the ink from the printers!” Hime-“Oh…no….not…the…ink..supply…”
Steve-“Dude I am going to crush this guy!” Bob-“Leave the chick for me!”
Steve-“SON OF A BITCH! NOT MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!”
Hime gets Zakuro to follow her into an old elevator shaft where Kyousuke pulls a Shizuo and pushes the broken elevator straight up. Damn that scene screams bad ass character! I definitely like Kyousuke more when he releases his demon powers. While the elevator is flying straight up, Hime slows it down with Touka’s help. Akina waits at the top and blasts Zakuro with his tuning powers and frees her from her evil side, but this also knocked her off the roof which caused Rin to leap after her as the two of them fall towards the ground.
Zakuro-“Glowing fist of death? That can’t be good.” Akina-“Time to tune you out….”
Zakuro-“Thanks for making me waste that pink milkshake, jerk.”
While Rin caught her unconscious friend the others decide to jump after them and try to help! That probably was not the best idea in the world. Lucky for them Kotoha was nearby to summon a large airbag that saves everyone from becoming street pizza. Rin shares a special non yuri friendship hug from Hime who welcomes her back into their lives again. A few days pass after the attack by the evil Zauro, and we join the new gentle Zakuro adjusting to her “normal” life. Hime visits the ramen shop for a quick bite and leaves some paperwork for Zakuro granting her citizenship and she moves in with Rin. The episode wraps up with our child mayor smoking away and warns Hime the fight is not over! And Hime responds with a line right out of any shounen series a basic bring it suckers!
Falling moe girls so Hnnnnnngggggggg
Rin-“Best rescue party ever! Let’s do it again!” Hime-“Hell no!”
Zakuro! Looking dead sexy, but she is probably what a few thousand years old?
Kotoha-“Maybe ill make out with Zakuro later?” Rin-“BACK OFF FOUR EYES! SHE IS MINE!”
Extra demonic fun
I love the visuals from Akina’s tuning power it looks great!
Kyousuke-“Nya? I have a craving for fish.” Hime-“Nyaaaa same….here!”
I really love these expressions! and Hime pulling off a Yui face from Kon!
Kotoha-“Blue is my new favorite color for some strange reason.”
Rin-“I won’t lie, this is kind of hot.” Hime-“Shhh you are going to ruin the moment.”
Amazing end to this OVA series! The animation during the battles was decent this time, but I really wanted to see more of Zakuro fighting against Kotoha! Even thou she was out for the count she did arrive to help at the last minute to catch her friends. Zakuro got to scream a whole lot more too! And I still love her design, hell even the demonic form with her sharp teeth and messed up skin looked really nice. So yeah Zakuro! She really is a unique villain to watch, but really these three OVAs are about her and Rin getting back together again.
I did enjoy seeing Akina this time! He finally got to do something instead of standing around watching. I forgot if he was more active in the TV series, but I always loved that tuning power of his and the after effects of growing his hair out. I figured he was going to miss his chance to hit Zakuro, thankfully he landed that punch. I did find it very comical to watch as everyone fell off that building together and how Kotoha saved everyone! Good job Kotoha but I will miss you again until I start reading the manga.
Now the ending! Hooray for Zakuro for returning to normal and becoming so hot with a bit of shy moe thrown in. she did look great in her new outfit! I really enjoyed how they treated her most series out there would have kicked a character like her out of town. And of course that final scene with Hime on the roof, it gives me high some hopes that they will try to do another set of OVAs or take another shot at a series? I was a bit sad that they did not show off the other special hunters! I mean we had what three or four left?
Overall if you don’t want to sit through a boring series you should just skip it and watch these OVAs instead! Since all three are finally out you can quickly watch them. I loved the animation and music too! They had some nice music that fit the drama and action scenes very nicely, now if you seek fan service in the form of panty shots then you might be disappointed! They do happen but those scenes are very quick and short.
Catch you all later! Good bye Kotoha!
Thanks for reading! Now we just sit back and wait to see what happens next with this series.
