Nichijou – 08

Yuuko’s bad day take two.

Hello everyone! How are you doing this week?! Hope you all had a great weekend and also are enjoying all the new stuff being posted during the third anniversary of Metanorn!  Oh man, another week and that brings us more Nichijou; now onto the review of episode eight.

Random stories this week! Yuuko fails hardcore at telling jokes, which gets Mai and Mio late for class; they even get stuck in an elevator together for a few hours. Meanwhile Hakase and Nano have a little pre sleep argument over brushing teeth and Sasahara and Misato have some fun together on the school roof.

Hakase probably has dreams of being on shark week.

Nano- “Boy that sun is so damn bright and hot…”

Nano- “Well it’s time to kill the sun, sorry all you humans!”

So, while Nano waters the plants in the yard she accidently shoots off her arm into the sky, which sure happens at the worst times. Yes, it is now summer for our Nichijou friends and you know what that means? Yep, new uniforms for Yuuko, Mai and Mio. The three of them walk together and Yuuko does her best to “entertain” her friends. Sadly she tries to tell jokes, only to be completely ignored.

Some great summer uniforms there, girls.

Yuuko! LAY OFF THE SODA, HOLY CRAP!

Mai-“Sometimes I pretend Yuuko doesn’t exist.”          Mio-“Damn you are hardcore, Mai.”

Now that Yuuko has got the others late, some other students hog the screen time. Well, mostly Sasahara, Misato and her two friends. I guess Misato has been finding all kinds of trash left from Sasahara, until she brings him his lost handkerchief and unloads a few rockets right at his face…. I guess that’s just how she says “You’re welcome.”

Misato- “It…it’s…. not like…I…I want to shoot you to death or anything, IDIOT…”

Sasahara- “This girl’s hair matches her face… how unusual.”

I don’t know what’s worse, being blown up by Misato or being stuck in an elevator with Yuuko, Mai and Mio? This actually happens to the three of them; that is until Yuuko and Mio snap and start to burst out laughing together at random words like eggplant; oh you girls are so crazy together.

Yuuko- “Buhahhahahhaha”        Mio-“OWW IT HURTS TO LAUGH HAHAHA!!”

We then join Nano as she gets ready to tell Hakase to go to sleep, but finds food all over her face. Hakase tries to dodge the question of having food before bed, only to change subjects toward Nano not getting cavities due to her being just a robot. Which makes Nano get upset, until Hakase tells her she will install something to give her cavities… I guess that makes her happy?

Hakase- “What’s the problem? Something on my face? All lies! I swear the food crawled into me!”

Nano- “I can’t stay still forever!”      Hakase- “It’s okay, Nano, I will install better standing still software!”

Sakamoto- “Wait! Come back here little fish, I won’t hurt you….I just want…zzzzz”

Yuuko, you really need to switch to water.

Sakamoto- “Madoka is god now!”           Hakase-“DUDE! WTF SPOILERS!”

Yuuko and Mio- “READING ROCKS!”         Mai-“Thanks for screaming in my ears”

Tail- “I will defeat you!”                  Sakamoto-“Challenge accepted, let’s go!”

End Thoughts:

This was a decent episode, not the best one ever, just felt really slow to me. However, they always have the small short scenes that make up for the lack of huge comedy moments. Yuuko failing to tell jokes at the start were funny, thanks to Mio and Mai’s expressions the whole time. Poor Yuuko! Lately she has been having all these terrible days; then again she is the slapstick pro. Finally got to see Sasahara again! He really is so much fun to watch especially when he is with Misato, you can tell she has a crush on him, hahaha.

The only real complaint would be the whole elevator scene. That did drag on a bit too long for me; I wasn’t sure what was going on at first. I did laugh when Mio and Yuuko couldn’t take it anymore; I can see myself acting similar if that happened to me. And Mai staying completely calm during that, but you can tell she was about to crack under the pressure as well! I also enjoyed the short parts with the soccer club, I think I said this before but some of the side-characters are fun to watch, even Misato’s friends seems really interesting.

Now for Hakase and Nano! I admit I laughed when she fired off her hand, then again I was watching her going FIRE YOUR ARM! I did not expect it to happen. Nano also seems to act more like Hakase’s older sister or even her mom’ I guess that is kind of cute as well, seeing her taking care of Hakase. And damn Hakase being so cute while avoiding brushing her teeth, I liked the slow look away while she was talking to Nano, so funny.

Next week, who knows?! As long as we don’t get stuck in any elevators for the entire episode and hopefully Yuuko gets some better jokes.
