IS: Infinite Stratos – 07
Less about robots, more about girls. Less about girls, more about boy girls.
I don’t think I’m going to bother explaining why this installment of IS is late. I mean, I probably should, because I let all you lovely people down, but some things in this world should not be said, or at the very least repeated. But as a sort of game, lets see if you can guess what happened with a few keywords; Skrillex. Tequila. Vomit. Shoes. Be creative! Comment your answers, yo.
It seems from last episode, the rumors about Ichika have grown even more. Now there is a small competition between the girls of the school, that whoever wins the upcoming Tournament, will be able to date Ichika. Unfortunately, Ichika doesn’t actually know this himself. Poor Houki wonders why it turned out this way, but is determined to win the Tourament and make Ichika her own. We delve into some of her backstory as well, learning that’s he was put into various protection programs once her sister announced her IS discovery. He sister also wears robot rabbit ears. Awesome.
To prepare for the tournament, Everyone seems to be training their hardest, but of course, Alcott and Rin would’ve had to have clashed at some point. They meet in the arena (by ‘chance’) and declare battle between each other. As soon as they begin, and explosion barely misses them as Laura Bodewig shows up out of nowhere and starts harassing them (GO LAURA). Because of Rin and Alcott’s short tempers, they get into a two-on-one IS battle, attracting the attention of the other students. Hearing things through the grape-vine, Ichika, Houki and Charles end up outside the arena to see what the hell is goin’ on.
And it turns out that Rin and Alcott are losing badly. Laura is pretty much beating the crap out of them and their IS’s. Alcott manages to get a lucky missile into Laura, but it doesn’t affect her at all. She somehow goes super mode and near crushes their IS’s to death. Thankfully, Ichika gets really angry and turns into a Super Saiyan Robot and breaks through the arenas protective shield and attacks Laura. Laura’s special shield conveniently block Ichika leaving him open for attack. Luckily, Charles appears from the sky and distracts Laura long enough for Ichika to dodge away and rescue Rin and Alcott.
Laura catch catches up with Charles and gets her pinned and is about to launch the final blow, that is until CHIFUYU APPEARS OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A GIANT SWORD AND STOP HER. She stops the fight and declares that the fight will be settled at the Tournament, due to begin tomorrow. Because Rin and Alcott we hurt in their fight, Charles and Ichika go to accompany them to the hospital where Charles realizes that EVERYONE LIKES ICHIKA. It also becomes known that the Tournament will now be held in pairs, with teams of two competing against each other. Because every woman in the school wants to pair up with Ichika and Charles, they team up together after they learn that Alcott and Rin can’t compete because of their injuries.
Back in the privacy of their room, Ichika and Charles are able to converse as male and female, and Ichika says that because he knows that Charles is a girl why she doesn’t speak like, well, a girl. She says she’ll try to more, and as Ichika goes to head outside while she gets changed, she suggests that it’s a bit suspicious that two guys would leave the room to get changed. So Ichika suggests they get changed with their backs facing each other. It all goes well until Charles somehow falls over and then somehow Ichika pulls her underwear off. I seriously don’t know. Don’t ask. The next day the teams are announced and Charles and Ichika are up against Laura and Houki. That’s right. Laura and Houki. I’m looking forward to this one.
End Thoughts
I guess Rin’s ‘DAT ASS’ shot was inevitable.
I think the term ‘Foxy Lady’ my apply to this situation…

Laura is still my favorite character. She’s seriously so badass. I would’ve thanked her sooooo much if she killed Rin and Alcott. They annoy me so bad. Her design is so awesome, yadda yadda, yadda yadda. Maybe I’m fangirling just a bit too much. Fanboying? Sounds a little to close to ‘flamboyant’. Houki’s backstory was a little weird as well. Why would she just explain this to herself? I didn’t really understand why she needed to do this, but hell; her sister looks like a badass. Dem robot rabbit ears.
However, I think we can all agree that Chifuyu deserves a freaking medal. Stopping a badass IS fight without an IS and a sword like, three-times her size? That takes balls. She obviously has balls. Houki was a bit ‘Oh man, I wish I could do something’, but she was ultimately useless in this episode. I’m pretty sure she will get some sort of personalized IS from her sister who will make some miraculous return. It’s a little odd that out of all the main girls in his harem, the one he will get with, is the one without an IS. Kind of a shame really.
Story is still almost non-existent, and most likely will be for the rest of the series. Maybe toward the end of this tournament, something happens and everyone has to work together to fight a big ass IS? Actually, I have a theory right now. Remember that first battle we saw at the start of the first episode? The series will end with that fight. I can see it now! They have a big massive battle, and somehow they manage to take down the threat. Only this time, it’s not unmanned. And the big baddie is revealed and it is…! Houki’s sister! And then THE SERIES ENDS. If that is what happens, don’t be surprised. Seriously.
Charles and Ichika in a bath together? That’s one saucy preview…

I mean, come on! Even though HoukiXIchika is supposed to be the main pairing, Charles has been getting way more JUICY events, since she has been introduced. Allow me to make a list.
1) Accidental see-her-showering scene
2) Feeding “Annn~” scene
3) Boob touching scene, complete with blushes
4) Forehead kissing scene
5) Changing scene
ALL THIS IN THE SPAN OF 2 EPISODES.
Houki haven’t even gotten that far yet… The best scene she got was probably the ‘confession’ scene. But that while a shocker, wasn’t really ‘dawwww~ so cute’.
But it’s ok. I totally ship CharlesXIchika now anyway~

You know… this might be one of the best episodes in IS, but of course you can’t go leave out the usual slice of life stuff but the fighting amongst the IS’s were GREAT! Can I say… Why was Ichika’s transformation not extended? To me it seemed rushed in a way unlike the china girl and the england girl. Honestly… I expected a Masou Shoujou transformation length (Too much Kore wa Zombie desu ka) ^^”
HOUKI NEEDS HER OWN IS!!!!! *fanboy rage!* And… I did feel kinda sad when she was reminiscing of the past about how she was violent and etc, I hope she’s able to surpass that soon ^^ But damn… Houki and Laura partnering up!??! I didn’t want that to happen but I guess it’s because Laura has that violent side to her and Houki used to be violent but wants to change. BUT STILL!!! That’s so cruel for Houki~~~ T____T

Well it depends on how they do the transformation don’t ya think? I’ve seen awesome guy transformations before in the past which really made you think “oh shit, better watch out for this guy” But I guess in this sort of sense it’s a bit different… it was just a hope xD If they did a Ayumu mashou shoujou transformation for Ichika then NOOOO!!!!! O____O
