Oriana Thomson really loves paper! Maybe she has a fetish for it…
Well, this week has been a bit cold but starting to get warmer, for us Floridians it never really stays cold so my fingers have been crossed for some warm weather! Also having a family gathering later today, oh joy there. Also playing a bit of Warcraft on the side and some Christmas themed artwork, guess you can say, I stay busy… which is never a bad thing, right? Anyway onto the episode…
Seiri wakes up in the hospital dazed and confused on why she woke up there, while Touma and the rest continue to play hot pursuit against Oriana. Finally tracing her down, thanks to Stiyl’s magic ring of tracking, I call it found-you circle. After they locate her and attempt to explode the bus, she sneaks away and onto the fight between Touma and Oriana! Oh, and Tsuchimikado catches on fire.

Touma has a bit of a hard time fighting against Oriana, mostly due to her not spamming the same move over and over. Sorry Touma this isn’t a fighting game! Maybe you should just block every move. But Touma does what he always does; give a speech about Seiri being hurt and how Oriana must pay for her evil deeds. She does have some interesting magic, she holds a small thing of paper that can be best described as a spell book. This allows her to use any magic she wants; though, Touma breaks through several spells and knocks Oriana to the ground with a hit to the… You guessed it, the face!
At least she’s nice to look at when…knocked out
Like all boss characters, Oriana gets up and makes her escape but leaves her present behind until Touma takes a look at it to find it was an ice cream shop sign all along! Maybe it’s magical ice cream? After finding it fake, Touma, Stiyl and Tsuchimikado regroup to continue the talk about Stab Sword. Learning the truth behind the sword itself! In fact it isn’t a sword at all; more of a cross and the rumors were mostly made up.
Our evil plot to rule the world was EVIL ICE CREAM!! Muhahahah!
Stab Sword is actually a really freaking heavy towel rack! Also good for BBQ’s
I shall order one million Stab Swords/towel racks…
But things seem to revolve around Academy City as the Catholic Church wants to rule over the city, which worries Laura a bit knowing they will have the upper hand soon. We then meet up with Mikoto and her mom as they go off to eat lunch with Touma’s parents. Index and Touma have a bit of a lover’s spat and soon arrive to have Mikoto and Index get into a war of pointing and name calling. Touma then meets Mikoto’s mom and is shocked to find out she has one! Well, most anime characters don’t have families…or they are away on “business”.
That’s my boy! Two girlfriends…just like his old man…

End thoughts
First half was alright for me this time, nice to see Oriana’s magic shown off. I enjoyed her first round of fighting and the various styles of magic she could do. But after seeing her rip the paper with her mouth a dozen times it got old fast, and seeing the thing she carried to be in fact a sign made me laugh. She is an interesting character and her choice in clothing a bit strange; though, it does make her stand out a bit too much. Not that Stiyl and Index blend in either.
Touma winning with his speech and punch to the cheek is starting to get old as well, but guess it really is the only way he can truly make his powers work fully. Was nice to see Touma’s parents interacting with Mikoto’s mom even though they didn’t chat much, somehow I can see them spending more time together later on with some beach themed episodes; oh they are out there, just you wait!
The whole Stab Sword thing was also interesting to see and learn the truth about it being just a cross, kind of saw it coming though and it doesn’t look like any sword I would want. Also, looks like we haven’t seen the last of Oriana, she will return for another round of Punch-the-girl-in-the-face! And more magic spamming versus Touma. Was it me or did the animation take a huge fall this time? Some of the characters looked less detailed than normal but of course this is one of the “boring” episodes.

Next Index II continues with everyone chasing down Oriana and more attempts to stop the trade of the Stab Sword. Also looks like we are in for some Kuroko being crazy as always events; maybe she will meet Mikoto’s mom?! Oh, the world might explode if she does. So prepare for more chatting and punching next week! Laters.

Aye well this episode made Touma struggle a little bit having to actually work at hitting Oriana, only because she didn’t spam the same repetitive move over and over.
Ahh yeah maybe…but I don’t really think of IndexII being to much romance based, they do hint at Mikoto and Touma all the time. We shall see! don’t hold your breath 😛

basically in the book it says you can use magic in two general ways, use a magic circle-type, and magic book-type
magic book is a concentration of hundreds of magic circles, so it is more powerful ofcourse, but in the same time more difficult to use/understand (thats why index is awesome,she actually memorize/understand 10,000+ magic books)
Oriana, is a special case, in which she creates a “short hand” copy of a magic book, very powerful but not permanent and not as powerful as a magic book

she cant use it, but she can always re-create the book anytime and give that book to a another person so they can use it
the fact that she has them itself makes her get a lot of attention in the magic/science world
for example she got targeted by that man with the bow gun in episode 1 right? so even though she looks use-less, she is unimaginably important person XP (sad thing is eventhough she is so important, the story really dont have much to do with her….i mean touma can destroy any magic right? wats the point of all that grimores than? lol)
