Anime Status: April

It’s almost summer, a high time for anime status and some randomness!

Konbawa, minnasan~

It’s been solid two months since I started writing for Metanorn and I’m loving the comments and interaction over something that I’ve come to love: Anime! (A resource of mine has started pronouncing it ‘ENEMY’, whenever he sees my ever changing wallpaper/anime blogs I check out. Of course, he does that looking at my mood; because when I’m mad I give him more than a playful whack on his head: more work! XD)

Heh, office humour aside, my taste in anime is varied and still evolving. I started mainly with Shounen but then switched to supernatural, mystery, selected Shoujo and even tried some Yaoi for a change, still need to see how Yuri goes. I’m pretty open to anything interesting whatever the genre maybe, just don’t bore me to death and I’ll be a happy camper. My attention span is erratic but all boils down to the subject matter and its treatment.

So, Kanzie’s on hiatus but she suggested compiling anime status as the last one was done in January. Also, I wanted to go a bit beyond episode reviewing and share my impressions of the series I picked from the Spring Season along with current watch-list, hold-list and dropped-list… Err… I know too many lists. Without any further ado, let’s begin!

Disclaimer: This is particularly very personal and opinionated list according to my views so if your favorite anime is not on it or I’ve bitched about it, sorry. I get my opinion, you get yours; respect. Also, this was pretty deliberate 20, which I started with 14 but included some more to make it a round figure. This may also have spoilers from series that I’m watching so if you are not very updated on the ones discussed in a bit more detail, be wary.

I’m not much of a sports fan, so Oofuri, Ring ni Kakero and Major are out. However, Giant Killing’s on Hold-list because I liked how the first episode started and may watch it when I’ve more time. Rainbow: another on Hold-list. Too gritty yet there is something there. I was overwhelmed with the first part of EP1. Very intense, I might give this a watch if time is sweet on me.  These two are dark horses that may show up in the next update.

20. B Gata H Kei: I would be honest; I didn’t waste my time on this. About first times and fan service. Sigh, NO.

19. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou: I gave it the first episode test. Future demon king meets fundoshi-wearing Junko. Nudity, shredded clothes, lots of panty shots. Err, I would rather spend my quality time reading Harry Potter than this. Dropped.

18. Angel Beats: I just watched episode 2 for finding a change in my opinion. Didn’t get any. Moe kids as supposed angels fighting a faction. A barrage of characters that do not get time for development. Animation is good though due to fluttering storyline couldn’t grab my attention. Fail and dropped.

17. Sex Pistols: This was amusing as hell! Get ready for BL Bishies and Madararui, people who are not the decedents of Apes but different animals. Let’s not get into too much detail but it does have a lot of weird backstory. Oh yeah, there’s a possibility of progeny too. Men getting pregnant? Am I watching Junior? Neko ears and manimal tendencies, Seiyuus (special mention Tomokazu Sugita as Yonekuni Madarame) and good animation made this watchable.

16. Bleach: Stupid filler gone and finally we are back to the main Arc. Even when I initially liked the Zanpakutou arc, the Sword demons completely ruined it for me. The ensuing fight between Ichigo and Ulquiorra, huhuuu~ especially looking forward to both their transformations.

15. Naruto Shippūden: Finally the fillers are done for and we will soon see Naruto in sage mode. Yatta!

14. Uraboku: I was continuously reminded of Vampire Knight’s character designs and environment when I started watching the first installment of this series. I kept remembering Zero’s voice saying that typical, “Yuuki”. However, it’s not Miyano but Takahiro Sakurai voicing the lead hero Zess (also known as Luka to Yuki).  Seriously had an overdose of Orewa omaeyo uragira nai. I would quote kanzie here, “it’s so bad it’s watchable!” Also, I LAWL’d on Reverse Vampire’s Shizuo resemblance to HOTsuma!

13. Working!! I had almost dropped it after two episodes but I hear from Xiao-chan and Zyl that it’s getting better and it’s still funny with a lot of moe moments. What would keep me going? The funnies and Seiyuus: Daisuke and Hiroshi.

12. Senko no Night Raid: I was all set to drop this but gave it a first episode test anyway. I was expecting spy anime and got a mash-up of X-men and Baccano! all rolled into one with a political touch. The first thing I observed is that I don’t like Chinese being spoken in a Japanese anime. It was kind of grating to the ear but after that was over, the pacing was good and characters are pretty interesting. Will need to see more to be objective about this.

11. FMA: Brotherhood OVA 3, Tales of Master: It was hilarious!!! Izumi Curtis is one of my favorite characters so thoroughly enjoyed her battling with bears and raiding the Briggs’ soldiers for food. The end skit was just LAWL.

Sig: Ah, I think you forgot something, miss? Your dead bear?

Izumi: Ah, apologies!

Hands touch and they instantly fall in love. LOL! Divine has pretty much said all that I wanted to say.

10. Naruto Shippūden Movie 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire: Usually, I’m not much entertained by Naruto/Bleach movies but this one is an exception. I thoroughly enjoyed the return of almost all the supporting characters from Naruto (Teams from Chūnin Exams). Lots of funny moments and even Sai mustered some funnies. Jiraya and Gaara are always WIN so all in all a good watch. Flags has done a very interesting review on it.

9. Hakuouki: Another period saga, dealing with the Shinsengumi in Kyoto. Somehow I remember Samurai X here but that is pretty different from what Hakuouki is all about. Started watching this for the bishies only but the story and characters sucked me in. The character designs are excellent and ambiance is classic and mellow. There are many characters but few more prominent than the others. I especially noticed Hijikata (maybe because he’s voiced by Miki – Roy Mustang, Urahara Kisuke), Chizuru, Harada, Saito and Souji. The pace is a bit slow but the sword-fight scenes make up for it. This is basically a reverse harem but with the shounen feel doesn’t go overboard into the romance genre or even fanservice. Meaning, I’m still up for it.

8. The Tatami galaxy (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei): Awesome fun! Expect loads of madness from Mad House! I wasn’t really sure about this one. I gave it one episode to make up my mind but the nameless protagonist, Akashi and Ozu sucked me right in. Visually it’s very different and sometimes even kaleidoscopey (made up word). With the feeling of déjà vu and wacky moments, I will see this to its end. Of course, not everyone has to agree with me like hellomotto, who’s still testing it out.

7. House of five leaves: This is definitely a very unique series. The art is interesting, scenic and beautiful. The characters are distinctive and something we are not really used to. The face cut reminds me of monkeys and maybe the artist was thinking about Darwin theory? Who knows? Ladies are definitely not very striking yet they still possess something very deep in their features. Everything is immersed in mellow classic Japanese environment of Edo and background music gives it a very vintage feeling.

The two main characters keep me going. Yaichi is one cool dude! The half-mast eyes and air of indifference, voiced by “Takahiro Sakurai” (Oshino of Bakemonogatari, Kira of Bleach, Cloud Strife FFVII *swoon*). He’s a kidnapper by profession that can resolve a heated fight with mere talk. I’m pretty sure the flashback of kid Seinoshin was Yaichi, who might have been abandoned by his family. The timid Samurai (Masanosuke Akitsu), is quite anti-social and has a problems of being stared at. He’s a strong samurai yet is very easily overwhelmed with words and has a habit of finishing everything with gozaru. Daisuke Namikawa (Kazehaya of KnT, Ulquiorra of Bleach – such difference of tone!), voices him. He gets trapped into working for Yaichi but I think he would come to like it. Joojoobees is much more updated on this than me.

6. Darker than black Gaiden 02: Honeymoon awesomeness is still on! However, pretty much everyone is after them. I’m a Hei/Yin shipper so like their every moment. Yin seems more complicated yet with more emotions now. What would they end up with only two more OVAs to go can be anybody’s guess but I hope we get some resolution to their relationship rather than just hugging and vague gestures.

5. Nodame Cantabile Finale: Finally finished all three seasons and available OVAs. Mukyaaa~ Nodame is one crazy chick but I love this craziness about her. Chiaki is one aloof otoko. Gyaabun~! I liked the first season than the following ones but at least the Finale had that resolution, which I was desperately waiting for. Still awaiting OAD, where are the RAWs?! =.=;;

4. Kaichou wa Maid-sama: Usui and Misa-chan are total WIN! A fellow enthusiast Mint observes the perfectness of Usui being spotlighted only for humour. He’s definitely overprotective of Misa-chan but in a very endearing way. The comedy makes this watchable with new characters added every other episode. Also, the early confession helps the chemistry between the pair.

3. FMA: Brotherhood: This is one of my favourite anime, one of those that really got me going for anime-fandom. I think it would be the first time that an anime adaptation and manga are ending almost at the same time next month. I loved the last episode, Hohenheim finally coming up with a cool plan. Now how far that would take him is what we’ll find out in remaining episodes:

2. Arakawa under the bridge: The best anime of Spring Season till what I’ve seen. For me SHAFT is a hit or a miss. I liked Bakemonogatari but hated Vampire Bund so when it was Arakawa’s turn, I was quite apprehensive of what to expect but from the first episode, this series has surprised me with a twisted storyline and weird characters that turn weirder and weirder still – in a good way though. When the first episode featured Kou’s shiny ass, I was reminded of Hagashi no Eden’s Akira’s entry and thought, hmm, would I like this or not? (I’m guilty of not liking Eden till the end of third episode after which I was hooked). For Arakawa, second episode was the deciding factor for me, I will follow this till its end.

Of course, Hiroshi Kamiya and Maaya Sakomoto are total win under the skins of Rec and Nino. Being the main pair, they still have a lot of ground to cover around each other as Nino’s a Venusian(!) and Kou’s a stickler for not being indebted. I like the supporting characters too: Top most are Sister and Maria (I especially enjoyed Arakawa Haikus by Halfdeckshort: Do not mean to laugh / But that’s the strangest thing I’ve / Ever seen, bear nun), Star, Chief, Stella, P-ko and the twins too. This is for those who enjoy something different that is much more situation-driven rather than character driven. There’s lots of comedy and funny moments that make you LOL more than you thought it would.

1.  Durarara!! This was so predictable to be the top anime! Who can forget Durarara!! from Winter season that is going EPICLY well! Finally, the time has come that the three protagonists have taken their responsibility for doing something about the city they live in and people they want to protect. Of course, Izaya is pulling their strings but hopefully things would never go according to his plans, when Celty, Shizu-chan and Simon come into the mix.

I don’t remember from where I got this genderbender picture but it’s hilarious as hell. Mikado and Masaomi look so cute! Anri somehow seems so appropriate. Shinra pretty much remains the tomboy (does that mean he’s a tomgirl? @_@). Celty should have shown some manly muscles but Izaya still looks smexy-self along with Shizu-chan, equally awesome! XD

Will not touch (zettai~!):

Kissxsis: Step sisters or not, falling for the same loser guy?! Egghh! Hentai, loli! In similar voice as Maria.

Heroman: I mean seriously? Who watches this? I would rather watch reruns of Superman/Batman.

Ikkitousen Xtreme Xecutor: Maybe the next BS season would have another X completing the ritual of XXX’s?

Shin Koihime: Third season of some shit anime. Sorry. Bows out.

Romance of Three Kingdoms: not my cup of tea.

Mayoi Neko Overrun! Cat ears are cute but not always!

K-On!! (s02): haven’t watched season one and people whose comments I trust say I’m not missing much, so there.

On-Hold: Katanagari (2/12), Bakemonogatari (7/15, waiting for the last episode to air after which I’ll marathon it), Buccano! (4/16) Book of Bantorra (2/27), Hetalia (25/52) and Kuroshitsuji (8/24).

End Thoughts: I hope you enjoyed the anime status of April! Who knew this could get so long! =.=;;

Spring season has been mucho promising than the winter season, from which I only picked Nodame Cantabile Finale and Drrr! I’m almost watching 60% of the above list on regular basis. I might drop some and take on the dark horses. All depends on time.

PS: Three new banners of Arakawa, Uraboku and Maid-sama have been added by Kanzie. Hope you like them! ^^;

PPS: Maid-sama picture snagged from songofcherry.

    well i do disagree with quite a few of the ones uve dropped, BUT i will cuation you about continuing Armed Librarians. Seriously, its bullshit. Absolutely nothing great about it. I thought i might as well finish it since id watched like 20 eps, but i regretted even starting it. After all that they show it ends with a shitty and dumb ending explaining nothing and randomly introducing new characters and killing of many main characters throughout. >_> O well, its your choice, but I highly suggest you do not waste your time watching it.

    On another note, I very highly suggest that you give Angel Beats another chance. Its getting better n better with each ep and its views are even higher than those of (moe blob anime K-ON) on a few channels. The story is quite meaningful too and even though it may seem like a comedy at first, theres a hell of a lot more depth to it. This IS made by the same guy who was behind Clannad, Kannon and Air. Key’s major VNs and animes. He has assured us a touching story and sooner tan later the waterworks will start. So, yeah. Once again, your choice, but please, give it a chance, Im sure u’ll love it.

    Two others I want to recommend are Mayoi Neko and Heroman, yes, even though they sound stupid, dumb and crap, in reality, they are actually much better ones than the rest of the animes in their genre.

    Thats bout it. Hope I helped! ^_^

  3. kewldude says:

    sorry bout the first post, it was by mistake 😛

    • Kyokai says:

      Thanks for such a quick yet long comment. (Always love ’em!) I’d agree with you for Book of Bantorra, I skipped some episodes in the middle and fast forwarded some scenes. Seriously didn’t find anything interesting except for a lot of mindless action with lots of vague characters roundng about. So, have dropped this deleted from HD.

      You are not the only one recommending me Angel beats so I guess I better watch 3 and 4 to see what’s up.

      PS: No issues about extra posts too, happens to all of us 🙂

  4. oplover says:

    First i want to say that I 100% totally agree with Arakawa is on your 2nd list. OMG i’m a big fan of SHAFT, although Dance in Vampire Bund still considered as Fail in people eyes.

    But, For dropping BH, Ichiban Ushiro and Angel Beats, ..err… .

    From me : It’s ok for B gata, but please give ichiban and angel beats another chance. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, i mean, don’t judge the anime from its earlier episodes. Seriously.

    • Kyokai says:

      For me SHAFT usually delivers, I guess the loli vampire with attitude just didn’t sit well with me (though I liked the same thing while reading Anne Rice’s “Interview with a Vampire” in Claudia). I’m open to suggestions so will definitely check out Angel beats, not sure about Ichiban.

      • oplover says:

        Err… ok, now i’ll tell you, Don’t touch ichiban, at least for now. The last episode (Episode 7) I watched is err… eww… Fail.

        • brandon autrey says:

          For me, i loved Dance in the Vampire Bund even though its based off i loli manga. If you get past the few loli scenes, then you can really enjoy it.
          U gotta give the ichiban anime a chance, its so hilarious!!!
          And the main character gets so badass its insane. For me, that dragon fight was a bit dissapointing, but the anime is still great anime.
          And GO WATCH ANGEL BEATS, i cant believe u dropped that!!! its more hilarious than Arakawa. Well for me, the Arakawa anime is just to out there… like FLCL… eh.

        • Kyokai says:

          @ oplover, roger that! ^^;

          @ Brandon, hahahaaa! I loved your chagrin on me dropping Angel Beats! XD Hai hai, will pick it up again for sure now.

          I don’t hate loli as a rule but her too-mature voice and actions were a turn off for me. I dunno about Ichiban but if time permits, I might just check it out.

  5. Xiao says:

    Oh yay! I missed these monthly status so already excited to read your post (I comment as I read it so it might be slightly messy, lol). ^^
    And you’re so lucky you get to browse at anime at work. I have to be really secretive when I check my mail. |D;

    Ok, onto the shows…hmm, lamenting on how selective my brain is when it comes to choosing and sticking with whatever comes up. I miss a lot of good shows that way. I think I’m fine with every kind of genre so it really depends on if the premise or episodes can keep my interest enough to want me to keep watching, too. Heh. ^^

    Anyways, YAY! I’m glad you’re going to continue with Working!! There’s really no major plot and is ordinary, weird slice-of-life at best but yea, you really watch it for the laughs, the characters (who, surprisingly, get better development than some other series I’ve seen), and the voices. Just proves as easy entertainment.

    DtB Gaiden: T________________T I can’t even hope cuz season two is already there but at the very least, I’d like these two to stay with each other long enough to…oh, I dunno. *fangirl weeping* TAT

    Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is another one of those humorous, easy watches of the season so yea, don’t have much more to add until your next episode review. Lol xD

    Dammit, must marathon FMA now that I’m out of school!

    Aww, I really wished I haven’t dropped Arakawa. It’s not that I didn’t like it (in fact, it probably is one of the better ones of this season) but just didn’t have enough energy to follow it on a weekly basis. Not sure if I’ll pick this up again in the near future or not so it really depends on my mood. Glad that SHAFT finally got a nice break after Vampire Bund slowing it down, though.

    Finally, DRRR!! Is DRRR!!! …and damn, every time I look a gender-bender fanart, it surprises me to no end how the guys make such hawt women. xD;

    As for anything else, I also recommend picking up Angel Beats! again. Yea, there are many moments of stupidity oddly placed in context but as of the latest episode, they’re starting to really get into the theme the anime is set on. Animation is not always top-notch and all but the plot is starting to become clearer as it goes along so hope you’ll give it another chance.

    Ahh, that’s all. Thanks for your thoughts. Will be looking forward to this month’s, too. ^^

    • Kyokai says:

      Hehee, thankies! It was about time for listing for sure and I will do the same in replying. In case of browsing at work, fufuu~ it helps to be the boss 😉

      Anime watching all depends with the available time you have and I’ve seriously stretched it to the limit. Imagine like watching it while treadmilling… my friends call me an anime freak for a reason. >.>

      I so agree on Dtb Gaiden. T_T The way they twist endings and relationship, randomly killing characters. I just hope Yin doesn’t get killed by her own spirit form. :sad6

      You definitely should marathon Brotherhood as it’s ending almost simultaneously with Drrr! Both have six episodes left. I would so miss these two. T_T

      Seeing this, I might just find some more genderbenders of Drrr! Shizu-chan looks like a freakin’ model! Hawt!

      Ah yes, I will definitely pick up Angel beats again, whoa to everyone recommending me that. Hahahaa, majority rules~!

      Finally, do give Arakawa a chance when you have time. I think it’s one of Shinbo’s best works.

      Thanks as always for such detailed comments! (>*-*>)

  6. Joojoobees says:

    Wow, when you put it all out there like that, it really makes me think this has been a good season, not only because there were so many shows worth watching, but also because there was such a variety in the types of shows.

    • Kyokai says:

      Oh yes! Until I made the list, I thought it would be around 10 titles only. At least it’s good to see different storylines compared to the winter season. 🙂

  7. Tom says:

    Angel beats gets quite a bit more interesting around episode 4 or 5. the first few were very disconnected and didn’t show the duality of the actual show.

    • Kyokai says:

      That is exactly what I got from the first two episode. As so many people recommending, will give this another chance for sure.

  8. Mint says:

    Hoorah, an Anime Status post! I love reading these~

    If the most recent chapters of FMA are any indication, the last few episodes of the anime are going to be pretty darn amazing. I was a bit shocked to hear that it’s ending, but I’m super excited to see how it all ends. As for the other shows, I want some moar Hei/Yin honeymoon special, too! >///.<-b

    That gender-swapped DRRR!! image is ten different kinds of awesome~~

    • Kyokai says:

      Hehee, Arrigato~

      FMA and Drrr! almost ending together, I’m counting down episodes for more development and expect EPIC ends.

      I dunno what the studio would end up doing with the pair. In reality, I expect the worst. T_T

      Hawt guys usually. look hotter in genderbender. I wonder why?! XD

      PS: I love your new DP. From where did you snag it?

      • Mint says:

        I’ll be sad to see some truly great shows ending! ;w;

        Ah, and it’s Seychelles (Hetalia!) snagged from this pixiv artist~ I had a longer comment but it got deleted, haha xD Looking forward to more anime status posts, now. :love:

        • Kyokai says:

          Same here! T_T

          I’ll go and snag some new avatar from there. Ahhh, deleted comments… :dot but the comment love goes on! <3

          Hopefully, this time around the ani-status will be early like first week of June. ^^;

  9. Hellomotto says:

    Thanks for the pingback. =D

    As for my views on Yojo-han: I’m definitely going to watch it to the end. I regard it as a good show, one that manages to stand above most of the series this season. Whether it’ll become the one of the best this year, however, is a different story; I think the latter parts of the series will determine whether Yojo-han really maximizes its potential.

    Definitely agree with your views on House of Five Leaves. It’s unique, but it also manages to entertain and not bore me to death. Arakawa Under the Bridge is quite possibly Shinbo’s best series thus far; the humor is excellent–some of the best I’ve seen this year–and its [subtle] satirical comments on modern social life make me a happy viewer.

    If I had to disagree with anything, it would be with your high-ranking of Kaichou-wa Maid Sama!. I’d definitely agree that it’s a moderately enjoyable view, but that’s about as far as I’d go. Granted, the comedy makes me chuckle, and Misaki (as well as her sister) and characters that I enjoy to watch; but other aspects don’t make me as fond of the series. I do understand that Usui is meant to be perfect for comedic relief, but it still strikes me as utterly cliche and, most importantly, not funny. Alas, that’s just my opinion; to each his or her own.

    Still, great list, and the summary helped me in deciding which series were worth a second view and which ones were worth dropping. I look forward to your next posts!

    • Joojoobees says:

      Actually I find Usui funny because he can say things that most people can’t. There’s probably been at least one time each episode that Usui said something that caused me to laugh because I can’t believe at first that he would say something like that out loud and/or in public.

      (And, yes, I am smart enough to not watch this show while drinking liquids that might otherwise shoot out my nose). :pfft

      • Hellomotto says:

        Hmmm I’m still not quite convinced. I definitely know what you mean, but I simply expected such things to happen, and it wasn’t quite funny. Just my opinion though.

        But the show is still funny at times. You are quite intelligent not to consume or drink during this show. I was eating pizza whilst watching an episode…and the tomato sauce…yeah.

        • Kyokai says:

          @ Hellomotto, Yoroshiku~

          I saw the third episode of Yojo-han and it was not that entertaining as the first two. Most probably because it was too deja vu-ish. There was definitely some more interaction with Akashi but if the same scenes keep on repeating, well my views would change too.

          I’m so behind Five leaves. I’ll get around it soonish. I totally agree on Arakawa and I think if it wouldn’t have been for Drrr! it easily could top my list and best of Spring.

          The case of Maid-sama! is simple personal bias! XD I know it’s not that great and should’ve been lower than Yojo-han or even Five leaves but I pretty much fangirl Usui and how he says such uncanny stuff.

          So, which shows are you watching on regular basis these days? Thanks for visiting! ^^;

          @ JooJoobees, LOL! Right you are and clever too. A similar incident like hellomotto’s pizza sauce (LOL, btw!) has happend with my green tea. It was not pretty! >.<

        • Hellomotto says:

          Arigatou! The third episode was okay, but I LOVED the fourth episode. Might blog about it soon enough…

          As for Five Leaves and Maid-Sama!, I’m quite behind too, so no worries there. =D

          Unfortunately (I might have said this before), I haven’t watch Durarara!! because I couldn’t get past the fourth episode…meh.

          Right now I’m watching Yojo-han, Maid-sama!, Giant Killing, Five Leaves, Arakawa, FMA: B, and Angel Beats. I think I’m missing some…Oh well, I guess you can look at my MAL! ;D

          Looking forward to future posts!

    • Kyokai says:

      I just want to say one thing: start watching Drrr!! as soon as your summer vacations start! This is one helluva show with awesome characters and plot. Some of the beginning episodes were slow but it’s gone waaayyy better. ^^;

  10. Wishbone says:

    Following are my opinions:
    I agree with you on Mayoi Neko Overrun! and Heroman. I watched a couple of episodes and found them to be generic crap. Heroman leans more to the latter.

    Sarai Goyou is… unique. Not my cup of tea, but it’s more… relaxing? But the eyes, OH MY GOD, THE EYES.

    I stopped watching Arakawa under the bridge after the second episode… way too much randomness for me to handle. What can I say, I’m weak.

    I consider Angel Beats like K-On!!… a light guilty pleasure. Neither is really strong on story.

    Regarding the “grating” chinese in Senko no Night Raid… skip over the English parts in Giant Killing. They made my ears bleed. But other than that, I found it to be entertaining.

    My three favorite shows this season are:
    1) Giant Killing (not sure why< i've never liked sports animes at all)
    2) Working! (it's a cute slice of life)
    3) Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou

    • Kyokai says:

      Respect your opinions, Wishbone! 😀

      Sarai Goyou is definitely unique. LOL @ eyes. Reminds me of Gorillaz! :/

      After all the comments, I would definitely check out Angel beats!

      You are right about the English that was in the beginning of Giant Killing but the characters captured my attention even when their designs are not up to the notch. I think this might just end up in my next list.

  11. cyberpixie says:

    holla anime status april, well i’m so agree that durarara!! and arakawa became 1st and 2nd because they’re so damn awesome. ah but i think kaichou wa maid sama doesn’t really deserve the 4th, well because the anime is kinda, ehm, weird lol ah anyway i pretty enjoy angel beats myself, it deserves on top 10 i think XD

      Hehee, Hola! I’m just simply biased about Kaichou wa Maid-sama! because I’m reviewing it and see it more regularly than the ones listed. Most probably next time it won’t score so high. I would definitely check out Angel beats now! ^^;

    like some of them, I disagree with some of your preference
    check back angel beats, trust me the only ep that werent very enjoyable were ep 1-2(you definitely get more character development on later ep and it gets better with drama and comedy)
    you should check the manga for working, it has a LOT of funny stuff that the anime missed(or havent shown yet)
    but I definitely approve of your top 3(despite not watching FMA anymore)

    • Kyokai says:

      You are one of the regular readers whose comments I respect so would definitely check out Angel beats again. Working too because the first two episodes really didn’t do a lot for me on the funnies.

      Btw, if you were ever a fan of FMA, this is the time to watch it because it’s ending next month coincidentally with the same ending as manga. This and Drrr! ending in next 6 episodes. I would definitely miss these two.

      As always, thanks for commenting! ^^;

    I agreed with most of your post, and I know this post is based on your personal bias, but based on your review you should give angel beats a second chance.

    • Kyokai says:
