Winter Anime OP Digest – part 2
Tsui here again on another OP digest for the Winter Anime season! Note: The OPs listed below are only from the Winter anime early episodes I’ve watched so far. This post contains OPs for MARIA+HOLIC, RIDE BACK, Viper’s Creed, Birdy Decode: 02, Kemono no Souja Boy Erin, Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou, Munto, Minami-ke Okaeri, Tower of DRUAGA: Sword of URUK and Asu no Yoichi. So here we go…
MARIA+HOLIC
Kobayashi Yuu – HANAJI
At first I was all O.O and jawdropped for the whole OP sequence because it’s very crazy (but I was half-expecting it with SHAFT’s backgorund on SZS). I never expected a part with broken-headed-nude-Kanako-dolls being used as a paint brush lol. And as expected from SHAFT, boobs, hehe. The random(?) quotes also work for me. This OP is outlandish in a good way, and probably the most memorable one for the year yet.
RIDEBACK
MELL – RIDEBACK
I actually like the song and how the start reminded me of playing DJ MAX Portable on my PSP XD. The Engrish is expected of course by MELL, which sang the OP for Black Lagoon’s Red Faction. I really like the chorus of the song. Btw, the animation was also superb.
Viper’s Creed
iLL – R.O.C.K
The OP was fast-paced, with action, of course. I’m not a fan of the artist, but the OP song can grow along some time.

NIRGILIS – kiseki
Wow that was a damn good OP and hell, this just gave me a reason to watch the first season. I thought that the singer sounded familiar so when I did a research, it was NIRGILIS, which sang the 4th OP of Eureka Seven, “sakura”.

UGH… Ali Project. I’m never a fan of them… Pass again…

I actually liked the song, to be honest. I’m not an overall fan of the series but for the song, I can be :).
Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai/ MUNTO
eufonius – Anemoi
The animation was very nice, as expected from KyoAni. I’m quite surprised, to be honest, because I always got used to KyoAni doing slice-of-life/harem/Key/Haruhi so this action-fantasy thing is quite new. I wonder if we would be expecting top-notch animation like the Yuki Nagato-Ryoko Asakura battle on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? We’ll have to wait for the next two weeks though…
Minami-ke Okaeri
Keikenchi Soku Joujou↑↑ – Marina Inoue, Minori Chihara and Rina Satou
Great OP for Minami-ke. The OP was sung by the Minami sisters of course. Ahh, see how they grow up…
Tower of DRUAGA – Sword of URUK
Questions? – Yu Nakamura
Nice pop-rock song for Tower of DRUAGA. I particurlarly like the beginning part.
Asu no Yoichi!
Egao no Riyuu – meg rock
I’ll watch this one over Akikan! because 1.) Akikan fails at the OP 2.) Akikan fails at the animaiton and 3.) This show simply is better (and the girls are hotter too) so I’ll stick with this one for my watch list. Hell! This show shouldn’t be compared to Akikan! at all. Lol why am I talking about that crap, anyway >.> I really like the OP animation and song for this.

Why did you show me the Asu no Yuichi opening? I didn’t know meg rock sang the opening and of course it made it look good and now I want to watch it (well, it was on my watchlist originally).
And why the heck did they use Ali Project for SoraKake? I can take them in some anime, but SoraKake gives off a totally different feeling than their music does.
As for MariaHolic…that freaked me out the first time, but now I can’t stop watching it.
And of course, KyoAni op is an automatic favorite for me. It really is different not seeing some sort of craziness in the opening or a moe girls VN style opening.

:what: at Maria+Holic OP… That was artistically… insanely… outlandish (sorry but I’ll borrow your adjective lol). RideBack’s OP was also cool. I really like the beats and the chorus too. OMG NIRGILIS! For a second I thought they’lle be breaking out into “Cherry Blossom~ Cherry Blossom~” in a second lol. And I love the OP of Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou as much as I love the first one ^^.

And Asu no Yoichi’s OP is growing on me (meg rock’s a good singer ^^). Not sure if I’ll stick with the anime (holding out for Yui Makino and Yukarin) but hell yea, it’s much better than that piece of crap called Akikan. :zsnap: They should have just scratched Akikan off the broadcast list and just let AnY show. =P
