How others see Yukari?

winter15-foshAlright! We have the Yukari episode this week which brings up the question! Will she finally get herself a new partner this week? I think so! At least I hope they can get that far with one episode.

Yukari is important

Anyone still got left over Valentines chocolates?

Yes we finally get to see how Yukari and Quetzalcoatl form their contract this week and like I said last week clearly we know she was going to partner up with Quetzalcoatl thanks to the spoiler found in the damn opening, but I suppose it’s always the HOW that keeps people from seeing such things as being a spoiler. So was anyone else expecting Yukari to end up quitting the team and return to her old life of being a soccer team manager? I know I was because realistically she hasn’t been a huge help to the team besides cooking meals for them which is just as important, but thankfully she managed to push through all of that with the help of Veronica and I think even Olga gave her some confidence; however I’m just glad she figured out how important she actually is! That was great and I’m honestly shocked they didn’t decide to play up that story for some side drama like an Idol quitting the team cause she doesn’t think shes very good.

New Friends!

Oh my god this outfit is so cuuuuuuuuute!

So what does Yukari bring to the team? Well for starters she actually pays attention to what the team needs unlike Yoshichika who doesn’t really at least it doesn’t look that way to me! Anyway I loved how Yukari actually knows small details like what kind of drinks each team member enjoys and that doesn’t just apply to the main team she was seen this week bringing soup to a cold guard at the ALCA headquarters as he watches all the monsters! Damn somebody needs to make her the new team leader. Besides bringing people food and drinks to people around her she also tends to treat everyone the same even when she was put face to face with Quetzalcoatl in his giant transformed state she didn’t really treat him any different even after he threatened to take her life, but after chatting with her even though most of it was to distract him I think he realized that she was strong, but given that Yukari is just generally a good person she ultimately saved his life after he was almost blown up by Veronica! The two are now partners which is awesome or is it?? I mean seriously how much of a partner is Quetzalcoatl after all? Is he just playing along with the humans just to gain the attention of Lucifer or does he actually intend to stick with Yukari and not double cross her later? Then again if anyone can befriend a wild creature like Quetzalcoatl it’s Yukari easily.

End Thoughts

I know I’ve been hating on these character themed episodes ever since the third episode, but wow this was such a improvement because it wasn’t played up for the dramatic and for once we have a character who doesn’t disobey orders! That must have been tough for the script writers to keep that element out huh? So what did you think about Yukari? Personally I think she is by far the best character I’ve seen so far and I would place her at the top even over Chloe who I still like; however Yukari just has a great caring personality and her hidden skill of noticing the small details about the people around her was great! I can’t wait to see what she can do when paired off with Quetzalcoatl who she called Quetzie? I definitely like that more than Quetzalcoatl! And speaking of that flying snake what about that odd transformation? Do you like it? I think it’s very cute and I wonder what kind of fighting power does Quetzie have? I’m gonna guess obvious wind based powers and with the flight power she can also be more on recon duty. Sooooo can they really trust Quetzie or is he just faking it while he waits for Lucifer to make his move against the humans? I’m going to guess he will try to betray Yukari at some point, but maybe he doesn’t really go through with it and stays by her side learning that not all humans suck? Also I’m totally assuming Olga will get his partner next time as well! I just want to know if it’s the Minotaur from the mall or will it be Lucifer? Honestly I think it’s going to be Olga and Lucifer partnering up or does Olga even get a partner? Probably not, but hey either way works for me.

I actually like the way the show has been these last couple episodes. I thought that Yukari’s story was consistent and interesting, and had a lot more depth than, say, Tamaki’s or Chloe’s. She also seems a lot more thoughtful than Yoshichika. And the part that I liked most about it was showing that the basis for a trance partnership doesn’t have to be love, like in Yoshichika’s case, or pity like Mana’s case (I don’t know what else you could call Artemis choosing her), but can be based on just straight attention.

It was pretty dumb that they thought that Quetzlcoatl wouldn’t notice Olga standing right there writing messages to Yukari. And I think that Olga will never get a partner, he’s the joke of the show, you can’t turn him into a straight guy.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah Yukari’s story was a huge improvement for all these character episodes and I liked how they highlighted her ability to be thoughtful towards the people around her and yeah I like how her trance isn’t one based off love instead based off worship and serving others I guess you could say.

LOL yep Olga is just the butt of every joke and I don’t think he will get himself a partner anytime soon or at all.

For a character that’s been on the sidelines until now, out of the bunch so far, Yukari has the strongest character entry. Though terribly and dangerously naïve, she managed to a foe to a friend. I don’t pay mind to the OP visuals, so I didn’t notice but given the hints throughout the episode, it was easy to see she’d pair up with Quetzalcoatl.

However, her Trance form isn’t what I expected. A bit too cutesy compared to the immensely intimidating form he had taking over unwilling hosts. I assumed Yukari would have had a full body appearance like all the rest but with snake-like features that highlight Quetzalcoatl.

At this point, I just want to tell Olga “Shut the hell up!” whenever he opens his narcissistic trap. Seriously, stop trying to flaunt what you don’t have. Even Veronica is annoyed by him. As an insult to his overbearing arrogance, it was fitting he got used for the ass end of the rescue operation. I honestly no longer care whether or not he gets a partner but he’d ultimately become the show’s laughingstock if he doesn’t.

    • HannoX says:

Isn’t Olga already the show’s laughingstock?

      • BlackBriar says:

It’s all about details. Olga is a laughingstock now but he’ll be the laughingstock of the show if it ends and he doesn’t get a partner.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yukari was a pleasant surprise! I really liked how they handled her episode. Ohhh did you not watch the OP? She is seen riding a bike to catch up with Chloe with Quetzie on her back.

Well honestly none of the trance forms look that great! Yukari’s is to bright same for Chloe’s I do like Mana’s but her yellow scarf looks dumb and I guess Yoshichika’s is probably the best since it isn’t super flashy, but yeah Yukari’s is alright I don’t mind the look of it.

LOL yeah Olga doesn’t go anything and isn’t anything special so I’m starting to think that he’s not going to get a partner ever.

This week it is definately Quezovercoatl.

  4. HannoX says:

I wonder if Quetzlcoatl was really going to kill Yukari. He seemed to accept her as his “priestess” rather quickly. Was he testing her for some reason with his threat? Or is he so desperate for attention from even one human that he abandoned his plans to kill her when he realized she could anticipate his needs and fulfill them, like a good priestess should?

This bet/contest between Lucifer and Quetzlcoatl might not have destruction to the humans as its aim. Just something about their conversation has led me to think that’s possible.

Not killing Yukari would be in keeping with Q.’s nature according to the myths about him. He was one of the few (the only?) Mesoamerican deity that did not accept human sacrifices. As for the power he bestows upon Yukari when they trance, flight is one and wind could be another. But he was the god of rain, so rain and/or thunder and lightning would also be possible.

However Q. plays out I’m glad to see him join the team. The Feathered Serpent is one of my favorite gods and it’s nice to see one included that does not come from European or Asian myth.

    • Highway says:

Well, as was explained, it’s basically desperation on the part of these ‘gods’ from another dimension that is inducing them to come to Earth. Some, like Athena and Artemis and Venus, come in a spirit of cooperation, and make consensual pacts with humans. Others, like Quetzlcoatl, come and take over a human. But they’re all starved for attention, so when you find a way to get attention cheaper, you would probably take it.

It seems a little like the system of gods in Discworld, where the power of a god waxes and wanes based on the number of people believing and the depth of belief they have.

But Quetz seemed to be bluffing from the very beginning, at least about killing people. He didn’t really attack anyone in his first appearance, and he didn’t seem inclined to attack anyone this time. Certainly unlike the Succubus from Tamaki’s episode.

    • Foshizzel says:

He probably doesn’t want to be locked up in that cell anymore so this is a chance to get out for a bit.

Yeah i’m curious about their little bet! I still think it’s about sneaking into the ALCA or gaining their trust to help Lucifer do something, but I have no idea what it would be! Does the ALCA have something he needs or are they holding someone prisoner? Then again I don’t think Lucifer is actually “evil” anyway.

Ohh yeah i’m sure Q’s trance form could allows Yukari to control the weather! At least I hope she has some crazy powers in their trance form.
