Go! Princess Precure – Mid season review
Time for some Precure on Metanorn!
Welcome to eleventh precure series aka Go Princess Precure! It always surprises me how long this franchise continues to create new seasons every year, but as a fan I’m totally fine with that.

A magical story…
Fun in the sun.
So how does Go Princess Precure differ from the other seasons? For starters our main team of magical girls all live together in a dorm/private school set up to teach girls to become “princess” like in the daily lives much like Aikatsu! which has a similar dormitory setup, but those girls are training to become idols. I really liked the idea of the dorm setup for this new season of precure; however that doesn’t really change things all that much besides showing us how the girls live away from home and adapt to their princess training.
Everybody loves Minami.
So what about the magical girls themselves? The main cast consists of Haruka aka Cure Flora the ditzy and clumsy leader, Minami aka Cure Mermaid who is idolized by the other students because she is the academy princess or top tier student and rounding off the team with the fan favorite Kirara aka Cure Twinkle who is a part time model and apparently very famous! Yeah she is easily my favorite precure of the season just based off her colorful design and happy go lucky personality, but we do get a fourth member of the team who started off as the villain Twilight who eventually joins the girls named Towa aka Cure Scarlet who has one of the best transformations of all time.
Gotta love those magical outfits.
Story wise this series doesn’t do anything new and takes the typical save a magical kingdom that has been taken over by some evil people, sometimes I wish they would go for something new but after thinking about it what else could they do? Also I tend to forget that this series is aimed at a younger audience so I can’t really expect then to have any deep plots and for the most part magical girl series are copy paste story-lines about saving the universe from some evil forces.
Cool Characters
Yes there are a lot of Yuri vibes, but that happens with all precure.
Aside from the basic storyline of Go Princess Precure I really enjoy watching the cast of characters, like all the random episodes that followed Haruka learning how to become more princess like? Yeah those have a great balance of serious stuff and super hilarious moments. but I will say things picked up quickly after Towa joins the cast. I loved watching her learn how the human world works since she is from another world so everything is brand new to her and on top of that she is also a real princess! That adds another fun layer to her character because was so used to having maids and butlers around her so now she has to learn how to do things on her own, but throw her into the mix with characters like Kirara or Minami things get really interesting.
Cure Scarlet has a hot transformation!
I think I loved the pairing of Towa and Minami a bit more since because both characters are very similar and to see them bond over discovering how to have fun was really great or the pairing of Towa and Kirara? When they were together it was great because it taught Towa how to do things on your own. Yeah Towa is definitely a treat and to my surprise she is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro who most people know as Celty from Durarara or Kanbaru from the Monogatari series and fun side note she also provided the voice of Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter and the previous season of Happiness Charge Precure had Megumi Han who did the voice of Gon from Hunter x Hunter? So maybe she told Miyuki to try out for Go Princess Precure? Sadly Miyuki is really the only huge voice actor in the new series compared to Happiness Charge which had the talents of Megumi Han, Megumi Nakajima, Haruka Tomatsu and Takehito Koyasu or as any JOJO fan knows was Dio! Yes Dio was in a precure series which was awesome.

End thoughts
So yeah I am quite pleased with Go Princess Precure even though it feels a bit like the past seasons with the use of another save a magical kingdom plot, but for the most part I love the characters! Besides Towa and Kirara I have to say that Haruka is by far the most disappointing character since we’ve seen the super ditsy leader type before *cough* Heartcatch *cough* Happiness Charge *cough* and I could mention just about any other past season; however Haruka does provide some much needed comedy so I can’t pick on her too much. Just in case anyone was wondering yes you can watch this season without seeing any of the past seasons since each of them are stand alone series which is great even though my dream is to have a connected “precure universe” much like the Marvel cinematic universe! Until that day happens I guess ill have to make due with the massive crossover movies that come out every year.

That swimsuit laden picture reminds me of an article I read recently where someone wrote in a broadcasting complaint in Japan on ground of something like blahblahsexualizingblahblahblah regarding a daytime show. Oh yes, Pripara. It was amusing.

the swimsuit one is fanart and when they do any beach episodes of Precure they don’t draw them in any revealing suits and yeah I saw that article on ANN for Pripara.

I now need to ask this after reading about Leona West: Are there trappu in Precure? 🙂It was supposed to be 8 to 12s and 25 to 35s, but your answer still fits. *whistles innocently* Note which of the demographics have the greater purchasing power. The toy companies are smart…

Traps in precure? Probably not ever going to happen since its a clean by the books series that doesn’t need to have any form of boys cross dressing, but yeah the running joke has always been where are the magical boys? To that I just say I don’t think parents want their ten year old daughters asking why is a boy wearing a skirt?
Well yeah the kids don’t have jobs and its the same thing with Disney who’s buying the Merchandise? DvDs? Tickets to the parks? The parents of course.
Yeah I only own a Ika Musuame Figma as my only figure lol…

Actually in some cultures (in the past) it was completely normal to dress a boy as a girl up to a certain age… Something about warding off demons and such. Cute stuff to me is like what crack cocaine is to some people… Addictive drug.

@Imperial True I guess you can count Itsuki as one, but they don’t really focus on the trap part all that much with her which is fine.
