I don’t actually have much to say as this week’s episode basically speaks for itself.
Rory the Goth Loli
Slice and dice.
Rory wants a ride.
We meet Rory, the reaper. She wields a large halberd and kicks butt. Don’t mess with her if you want to walk away in one piece.
Giant Enemy Dragon
Big guns.
The squad also fights a fire dragon. It’s big and immune to small arms fire. Attack its weak point for massive damage. Or just use a rocket lawnchair.
Naked Elf Girl
Naked elf girl.
Naked elf girl. It’s interesting that the human village won’t take her in. Perhaps there is the usual fantasy racial segregation in this world?
There are a couple of other things. We meet Lelei, the stoic sorceress (and her hapless master). She seems rather taken by her brief interactions with the squad. And the squad and townsfolk continue to gain respect for Itami thanks to his quick thinking and on-point decisions. But yeah, what you see is what you get this episode. Itami also brings Rory, Lelei, elf girl, and some stragglers back to the base. The consequences of this action will probably be the focus of next episode.

But elf girl is cool too, I’m interested in seeing her backstory. If they gave Rory a pair of fangs, she’d be one of the most awesome vampyr lolis I’d ever seen. She’s cool now too, but a pair of fangs and some claws would look even more awesome.
I really like our military team. I’m interested in what they’ll do next? And what about Emperor guy? What devious thing will he be up to next?

I don’t know how it was in the manga or LN, but the character introductions feel a little rushed. It could be just me though.
I find it amusing and good that no one batted an eye to the fact that the elf girl was naked because there were much more life threatening issues at hand. Though I still have to wonder why the female doctor did not dress her in some spare clothes.

The elf probably wasn’t in any medical danger, so the doctor decided to preserve some genre tropes, just for us fans. Actually the prognosis should have been Naked People are Funny, with the resultant over-reaction. But they managed to subvert that and show that the troops could keep their cool under any type of pressure.

A decent episode with soldiers serving as aides to the refugees. Itami shows he’s reliable when the occasion calls for it. Though for a world that basically supports everything that makes him an otaku, he doesn’t seem so enthusiastic.
Man, first introduction and I’m already falling for Rory. I guess a cute, murderous and devious looking girl has the most appeal among all the other types.
