The Rolling Girls – 05

Helmets for everyone! Even the Koala bear.

Time for more wacky adventures with The Rolling Girls! One thing we forgot to mention on the recording is what the hell happened to Chiaya? At the motorcycle themed restaurant Ai picked up a strange squid like creature, but is that really Chiaya?! I guess we will find out next week…

Throwing food and making you go to their restaurant if it hits you is hilarious. However, what if you don’t want to eat? Or don’t have any money to eat at a restaurant? But interesting idea anyway. 😀

    But back to the episode:

Oh that was cute. So we’ve kind of got a slight Romeo and Juliet style story with a girl who’s a really good sculptor but has a bad case of low self-esteem. Her father wants her to take his place, but she’s in denial and thinks that she’ll never be good enough and hates that her town is split like it is.

This town it seems, is ruled by bike racing and restaurants. The captain of one group doesn’t want to duel, but his people do, and the same for the opposite side. However, the girl from one side and the boy captain from the other seemed to have a thing in the past, and it’s a thing that hasn’t really dissipated from what I can see. 😉

The girls are watching everything unfold and looking to see how they can help this rivalry-ridden town.

Also, umm, did Chi turn into a piece of food there? What exactly is she?! o_O

Though, I swear that Chiaya is a anime Disney princess! Five episodes in and so far, she’s got a single parent (possibly widowed) who is obviously rich and powerful. She hums and sings inexplicably, she has birds and animals that flock to her and communicate with her, and she has a desire to want more for her life. She IS a Disney princess! And….that automatically makes her my favorite. 😀

Also, forgot to add, that little koala was so adorable! But she seems to have the same one now as when she was a little girl. Is that thing immortal? It stayed the exact same size!

Also, I didn’t notice until you pointed it out, it having a little helmet was the best. 😛

      • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I saw the screencap of the Koala bear with the helmet and was like WHOA why didn’t I see that before? LOLLLL

      • BlackBriar says:

Maybe the koala couldn’t grow anymore past its current size.

I don’t know if Chiaya is a Disney Princess, but as Fosh kinda subtley reminds us, she may be a squid or sumpin. Go back and re-watch that scene, and notice that Ai can’t find her anywhere….

Throwing food at customers to get them into your restaurant is brilliant! BEST IDEA EVER!

Romeo and Juliet? Yeaaaah I can see some of that in this episode.

The city in this “arc” is certainly interesting and I loved the use of motorcycles/racing as a “theme” so far it works even the restaurants play a role as well.

I know right? What is up with Chiaya? She has to be something from another planet or universe, but I am leaning more towards alien! That might explain why her mom is collecting the stones for a future threat headed their way?

Yeah Chiaya totally fits the role of “Disney Princess” very nicely.

A fierce marketing tactic. Imagine if all restaurants adopted it.

Update: It looks like something odd happened with this show on the way to digital streaming. GJ Cthune!

Throwing food and making you go to their restaurant if it hits you is an out of the box. A hit and miss one as well. Have they ever considered the possibility of not catching their target? Maybe it never crosses their minds. Well, they’re good shots so I don’t think they ever have to. It’s another story if the hostage customer can’t pay the bill, though. 😉

Dandy is badass. Wouldn’t mind working at his place and it doesn’t seem there’d be a dull day.

Maybe it’s just me but with the look of the town and all these different restaurants, I may be wrong but it gives a kind of Italian feel though it’s supposed to be Japanese. When Himeko got home, everything was more like an old time Japanese neighborhood.

    • skylion says:

Well, I don’t think they would have any old rube out there pitching food. This has to be part of a master’s program, or similar to the work of a sommolier; match the person to the money to the food….

I’ve worked high volume restaurants…I could do without the random motorcycle madness.
