Akame ga Kill! – 18

Assassinating in style.

Just my luck.

More Welps

welp

It seems I got stuck with yet another episode where characters that don’t matter die. You know, those ones who appear on those anime news posts for joining the cast, only to die within two episodes of their introduction. Heck, in this case the poor welps didn’t even last a single episode. So yeah, not too much to talk about in that regard.

Death Flag Speculah

Not bad.

As far as Night Raid goes, I thought for sure Lubb would bite the dust when he came across two of the Rakshasa demons. Especially so given his more recent renewed determination to confess his love to Najenda. But I gotta give credit to the guy. He sure knows how to handle himself. Moving on, Akame ga Kill! seems to be giving Mine more and more screen time and interaction with Tatsumi. And if I’m taking that weird bit with the founder correctly, there might even be a romance in the works. Never a good sign, even if it came out of left field. But anyway, it also looks like next episode we get Justice-chan joining the fray, which can only mean Mine will be involved. So if I didn’t know any better, I’d say this bodes poorly for the pettanko gunslinger. But then, Seryuu has already killed one member of Night Raid, and I don’t think she’s a big enough deal to pull it off again.

The start of something beautiful.

No villain so far has succeeded in killing more than one member of Night Raid, and I don’t expect such a thing to happen any time soon, even with Esdeath. So this puts both Seryuu and Mine at level playing field in my opinion. A showdown between the two of them really could go any way, and I suspect whoever comes out on top comes down to which of them has assistance. Since Seryuu hasn’t shown any particular penchant for buddying up with others in combat (she does already have Coro by her side), the number advantage would go to Mine since Tatsumi will likely be with her. In that respect, the scale is tipped slightly in Mine’s favor. So I suppose if someone had to die next episode, it would probably be Justice-chan. She certainly has her comeuppance waiting for her at the hands of Mine.

In summary, nothing really noteworthy happened this episode. Just more setting up for another confrontation between the Jaegers and Night Raid. I guess that means it’s Kara’s turn to shine again?

It’s JUSTICE time!

Lubba is abusing on the death flag power. He must have that big twisted death flag from Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara right now. Damn, he wants to confess to Najenda, came across two of those badass guys, could run but came back to save the girl just because she is a GIRL.

And I’m going to quote a guy from the place I watch animes. That guy tried to stop the best thread in the world with his beard. That was the most badass attempt of all time.

My hopes is that there will be this double kill next episode. Fuc*ing Justice-chan and Mine will duel to the death and both of them are dying. That girl is so full of tricks she’s going to die to kill someone from Night Raid.

Haha that moment certainly had this absurd awesomeness to it.

As for Seryuu and Mine killing each other off, I can see that. The two have enough against each other at this point that the grudge match might just go down to the last breath. If such a thing were to happen, I get the feeling that the loss of yet another comrade might strongly affect Tatsumi.

lol yeah I saw that comment and realized just how funny it was that he tried so hard to be awesome and failed.

I have to say I was totally convinced Lubba was going to die since he was raising all the death flags in this episode. Then again if they cannot make it too obvious when they are going to kill a character off otherwise we wouldn’t feel any suspense. In this case for all we know Mine could die next episode, but I don’t really think they are leaning that way.

It’s about time Seryuu made her exit. The upcoming fight might go either way. Each fighter has already experienced a loss so going all out will be a must. All that should be expected is that no one is getting out unscathed. It would be the awesome kind of karma and irony if she got eaten by her own despicable dog relic.

      • JPNIgor says:

Yeeeesss! If that did happen I would cry in joy. Justice-chan is just too sick, I can’t stand seeing her distorted face talking about justice anymore =.=’ She’s not the kind of villain that you have this love-hate one-sided relationship, but it’s a hate-hate-IWANTTOKILLHERMYSELF kind of relationship.

        • BlackBriar says:

Because I find the best comeuppance for any antagonist is when they’re killed by the same method they used on their targets. Like Psycho-Pass S1. How ironic and well deserved it would’ve been if Rikako were killed and had her remains displayed like a life sized doll like she did to her female classmates. Well, after her death, her bones were used to make smoking pipes. I guess that qualifies as a consolation.

Jeez, Lubbock’s death flags are more rampant than Chelsea’s. I thought he had it here. Talking about confessing love and nearing a date with death’s door. He’s pushing it.

The Demons weren’t impressive and in my opinion, didn’t deserve their fearsome reputation if they could fall so easily. Judging from their appearance, I thought at least the majority would survive. Instead, I got the opposite. What a waste. All that tension and nothing significant came out of it. I agree with Lubb, though. The girl he was forced to kill was cute.

So we’re settling scores next episode. Hopefully Seryuu bites it this time. That twisted extremist has got to go. Her views on “Justice” are too warped. Mine has a bone to pick with her and so does Tatsumi. To make things interesting, she should find out Tatsumi is the one responsible for killing her corrupt former master.

I guess they were just to add some sense of awesomeness to Night Raid, since they had so many losses, having some wins along the way is nice. It’s like they are saying “hey, some of them are dead, but they’re still badass.”

      • BlackBriar says:

Another way of saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. Such is having an effect on Tatsumi.
