Oujo-sama HanaKana is great!
We got a series of introductions this episode. As far as the series goes, this one was heavy on social issues, and they start right off with a quite possible Ash meeting a very definite Silvia. Did anyone else facepalm during the end of this exchange? Can any MC-Kun remember anything about girls he meets in the past? Ash, c’mon man, the gender needs you, or else it’s just tropes all the way down, but then if Ash is the number one problem child on campus, at least his charge of General Affairs will be interesting. And it just seems that his self introduction onto the student council just goes along great with Eco’s as school mascot. Mascot I tell ya. RAWR! (or Gao! if you got the Oyatsu sub) Next up the incredibly quick and extremely violent introduction to the First Princess Veronica. Say what you will about the supreme position of dragon tamers in this country, and the Princess will trump you hard and finally we get the fabulous? entrance of Jessica Valentine. Oh, HanaKana you do the Oujo-sama quite well.

So, after four episodes I have to say that I really enjoy the show. It could be better in some areas, like maybe taking things a bit more serious, but having read ahead on the manga scans, I know there is some intense stuff in future. As it is, it’s my fluffy anime fantasy ecchi show of the season. No shortage of those. I’m even calling dibs on the summer version of that broad set of genres.

This didn’t quite beat out Brunhilda for ‘surprise ecchi’, but I was surprised at Veronica’s lack of pants, and both of her outfits in general.
And maybe someday we’ll just have people who meet when they’re teenagers, instead of forgotten childhood betrothals…

They weren’t betrothed, they just happened to meet during that ritual to get their dragon sigil… mark… things. The Princess was hurt, so Ash carried her to meet the Mother Dragon. Then something unknown happened resulting in the scene we saw in the beginning of the first episode, where they were both unconscious and Ash’s arm had been torn off. Ash doesn’t remember it, probably due to trauma. The Princess clearly remembers at least some of it, but doesn’t realize that the boy she met in the forest is the same as the boy she knows now, despite them looking identical.

Brunhilda’s was just cast from true WTF. Not so much surprise as unnecessary. But hey, we got a neat character wrinkle with Sakura from it.
Veronica’s outfits reminded me of Nineties era Rob Liefeld designs…

Veronica for the lose. I’ve read a little bit of the novels, and I hated her. HATE. ED. HER. Tempted to drop the series now rather than watch something that has her in it.

Really, I rather like that sort of characterization. Yeah, it’s mean, but it could be argued as necessary or not. I may not like the character, but I find the it interesting.

A HanaKana character with an ojou-sama complex. Color me impressed. She’s molded her voice nicely for the part. When a girl says she wants to bear your children, you should oblige them with a smile on your face.
It’s pretty cliché Ash and Silvia can’t recognize each other though their appearances haven’t changed much from childhood.
