MetaFap: Fall ’13 – 10 [NSFW]
Fighting, Kidnapping, and Fighting!
Freezing Vibration – 10
I’m playing all the hits on this week’s FV post
We had 3 fights this episode. One wrapped up, another was shown in full and the 3rd spills over into episode 11. Freezing did a pretty nice job with the battles as it mostly has done thru Vibration, doing something cool this episode by emphasizing the bigger hits with some pretty solid art and close-up character reactions.
Cassie’s got her eyes on the prize for beating Julia
Cassie vs. Julia had most of its action last week, and its non-importance to what was happening elsewhere was why we only got a couple scenes of Cassie pulling through. As expected, Cassie just upped her speed to quintuple accel. It’s also a confused battle as Julia’s lusting for Cassie this episode wasn’t shown last episode and could’ve added some decent, if not humorous dialogue last week. And also for the sake of fanservice, let’s hope BD specials give some more Julia service; what we saw in ep. 10 was too little.
What Charles lacks in bust she makes up for in butt
Elizabeth vs. Charles was the highlight battle this episode, and a surprising fight because a Limiter didn’t stand their like an idiot watching the fight and bothered to participate. The Limiter cancellation at the start shows the pointlessness of Limiters in Pandora vs. Pandora fights, but that Andre was able to hold Charles down without the other Limiter barely appearing on camera is, well, limiting to the potential that Freezing can have with action. And because Andre was relevant, Elizabeth was able to defeat Charles and walk away with only a Volt Weapon through the arm… those are the scrapes and bruises of the Freezing world… The hope here is that Charles realizes that what her father is doing is wrong.
A lot of girls got to taste their blood on the floor this ep
Then there was the Satella/Rana vs. Chiffon. No doubt the underdogs got some punches in, but against that “True Pandora” with a monster claw and the challenge of not even breaking her smile in battle, Chiffon was merely just letting them have fun up until the end. I think Kazuya was there… dunno, dude must have been real quiet or I just plain forgot.
End Card <3

Yuushibu – 10
The Lawson girls are both just so much better than the Leon ones.
Well, a lot of things went down very quickly this episode, with the bad guys making their move by kidnapping Phino. Looks like we’ve got a conspiracy here: certain heroes are working with Amada and at least one demon to bring back the demon lord, benefitting them through the reactivation of the Hero program and return of the war economy. I’m still unclear on a few things, such as why they need Phino specifically, but I imagine that will be explained soon, likely connected to that gem that Raid had which shares her last name.
It’s good that the show covered these plot points quickly, but the episode itself turned out very bland. Part of the problem is that there was little to no suspense or mystery, and each new reveal just felt like the show going through the motions. Yes, of course Lam is a demon as alluded to earlier, and of course the bad guy has some gem connected to Phino. Of course Raul’s friends are the misguided heroes trying to bring back the demon lord, of course Raul will angrily refuse their request to join them, and of course Phino will be kidnapped when she’s out by herself, and of course they’ll dramatically toss a photo of Raul as a hero in front of her to shatter her image of him. It’s bad when stories get too convoluted, but this story suffers from being at the opposite extreme. The most entertaining part of the episode wasn’t at all related to the story, when Phino was demonstrating her trademark laughter to her elementary school fans.
Hopefully the show was rushing through the initial setup for the last act, so that its final 3 episodes can have plenty of that over-animated action that has been its strongest point. To be honest, 3 episodes seems like a lot of time to fill in order to resolve this arc; either this arc ends in the next 2 episodes leaving one more for a fanservice fest a la Kampfer or Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3, or there are at least a couple more big reveals left in the plot.
Really nailing that low hanging fruit, eh, Yuushibu?
Now this, I kinda liked. I don’t know enough Japanese to confirm, but it seemed like the guts pun worked in both English and Japanese.
Ceara’s and Phino’s self-satisfied smiles really sell this scene.
Is there any point to her sitting at the top of a stepladder other than that it creates a panty shot?

Walkure Romanze – 10
The grandeur of Jousting
Is Takahiro going to finally pick someone?
Feathers Fly!
Bertille’s Butt Bounces!
The (real) tournament begins, and even if someone wins the tournament, it kind of looks like nobody’s going to win Takahiro. He was actually going to pick someone, but instead, the pregnant horse goes into labor and he bails on everyone to go… sit around and not really do anything while watching a pregnant horse. He does get a little bit of action to go run around and not find the vet, somehow ending up at the stadium where the tournament is. Hmm, what will happen next week?
Mio tried to strike first
He did give advice to all the girls before he left, and they seem to take it to heart, and everyone (who we care about) makes it to the Sweet Sixteen. And our first girl out is Lisa, at the hands of Akane, who pulls out at triple attack, moving out of her comfort zone, although there was an ominous look at her hand afterward. And the big story after that is Lisa rekindling her friendship with Fiona, who felt slighted when Lisa got friendly with everyone else.
Getting the hint yet, Dad?
The other story is Mirielle harping on her father, using jasmine blossoms as a morality lesson in “being honest with yourself.” Will the Marquis come around and realize he should support his two daughters in their dreams? And will we get the finals of the tournament next week, or will it take more than just one more episode?
Akane beats Lisa!

Oh, look, it’s Bouncy Bouncy developing plots and things. ::sigh:: As of right now, the only thing that can save the show is a crash boom bang ending, as you point out, lvlln. As it is, Yuushibu is on the bottom of my list this season, right before Galilei Donna, which is above Machine Doll. So much stuff to do with, so little acumen it got.

I still enjoy Galilei Donna, Machine Doll is pretty iffy, and I just have stopped watching Coppelion. But I like Yushibu a bit more than a few of the other shows this season, by my metric of “how much do I look forward to watching it.” And really, I’m starting to think this is the metric that matters most.

It is the metric that matters the most. I do look forward to Yuushibu, I’ve just put it in the low expectation box.

Yuushibu – 10: I still find it wrong to kidnap a kid and force something on her just to satisfy everyone else’s selfish desires. If they want to find something worthwhile, they should have the capacity to do it themselves.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
There are so many things morally, economically, and ethically wrong with their plan, it’s almost impossible to list them all. Coercion, broken windows fallacy, kidnapping, nothing they are doing is right.

They droppin’ anvils left, right, and center.

Aaaaaand now I’m thinking of the strangest thing… Tiny Toon Adventures did a send up of Oklahoma. I only saw it once, but it was hilarious (now that I see it again, still funny).
Duuuuucklahoma!
Watch the anvils fall down from the sky
Ducklahoma, where the sound of falling iron
is like a siren
watch the anvils start to rain down from on high

Nice. Brings back memories.
I was thinking of Anvillicious, however.

freezing vib – we got 3 fights going on eliz vs charles give really show stealer was really eliz’s loyal limiter andre going full hold help eilz beam charles out.
cassie vs julia in the end speedy cassie got enough feel on julia but for satey & rana oh my yea vs chiff not even wing mode to help them.
yuushibu – fino want be own boss make her own store with raul as her partnet but amada members & two ex-pals of raul well that want what “best for business”.
sekai wrestling – well sakura vs moe did well til time came for sakura vs blue panther but in way feel like they did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNgxyL5zEAk IT’S ME SAKURA! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, SAKURA aka elena?!
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
But was it really Elena all along? Or were the first couple appearances by Blue Panther really Juri, to set up this fight? It’s probably a little unbelievable (ok, a lot unbelievable) that Elena would become as good as Juri, so much that both Jackal and Misaki think they’re the same person. Or that Elena would get good enough to curbstomp Rio.
POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 110 comments
yea give really feel like shocking swerve doing http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ShockingSwerve besides give if really all elena doing as being “higher power” & doing IT’S ME SAKURA!

Introducing Moe this late in the series and that nearly dumbfounding revelation from Elena. I hope this means we’re looking at a possible second season.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
I think it was Elena the whole time and Juri simply accepted the accusation to throw off suspicion because it was meant to be a personal surprise for Sakura and interfering with the prior matches was a means to show off her wrestling prowess.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
I dunno, that would mean Elena is some kind of prodigy or something. I think it’s more likely it was Juri in cahoots with Elena, and Elena swapped in for this match.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
The preview for the next episode is indicating otherwise for what she’s putting Sakura through.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
You wouldn’t have a show if Elena just got noob-stomped. But also, recall how Moe was giving it to Sakura for a while, but then ran out of stamina. Sakura is match proven, and I don’t think Elena / Blue Panther is (they certainly haven’t shown any indication that she is). Will the same thing that happened with Moe come to pass in this fight? I’d think it’s similar.
Especially since they’ve built up Sakura’s philosophy like Misaki’s: Take it all from the opponent, and keep your strength up and win when you can.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!: Sakura and Moe’s was good and showed off Moe’s potential as a wrestler very well and like I said last time, her being adept in karate gives her a big edge.
Towards the end was a genuine mindfuck, a total shock. I suspected Elena would eventually join the wrestling trend but didn’t expect it to be so soon and being Blue Panther, no less. If that was her when Panther took out Rio, that means she practically got her revenge whch was the very reason Sakura decided to wrestle in the first place. After the reveal, it’s become clear what Elena wants and that’s to take Sakura back to Sweet Diva.
POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 110 comments
give consider how did elena got blue panther suit yet wonder some point she must have met juri along help her in way to finally get in ring face to face with sakura?
yet looking at preview on ep.11 yikes elena really give sakura a run for her wrestling life.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
I bet Elena started training with Juri after Sakura beat Rio and decided she was going to continue wrestling. That’s the most plausible theory in my opinion.

Walkure Romanze – 10: Well, the jousting matches were nice to watch. At least it looks like no one will be a sore loser no matter who wins. The matches actually reminded me of some show where a handful of guys went and started their modern day jousting tournament. I think it was on either Discovery channel or A & E.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
WalRoma’s hit a really good grove throughout. Like you say, noone will be a sore loser, and everyone’s doing their best. Sure, there’s no high tension or drama, and Takahiro is still the worst part of the show, but I really like the cast of girls in the show, who are friends and rivals at the same time while dealing with their own issues (such as Noelle’s father, Lisa and Fiona’s friendship, or Celia’s feeling isolated). I think this works far better than having them be superficially great friends (like in the horrible DaCapo III), or battling more openly over Takahiro, like in something like Shuffle!.
Perhaps it’s because there’s really only two or three of them who have even an inkling of romantic interest in Takahiro, primarily Noelle and Mio.

Freezing Vibration – 10: To those who have the nerve to fight Chiffon, make sure you have insurance because you know your ass is going to be handed to you on a plate. Just the fact the opponent was her, it had to be nothing but an uphill battle. If her creepy smile doesn’t get to you, her monstrous strength and tenacity will. The atmosphere around her alone screams intimidation. “True Monster” indeed.
Charles has some good ideals but her loyalty is gravely misplaced. The only possibility, in my opinion, for her to be that faithful is that she’s not completely aware of what her father does. Her concern for Elizabeth’s Limiter, Andre, shows there’s still some humanity in her.
