Fantasista Doll – 11

This is a odd way to hold a meeting…

Time for more Fantasista doll on Metanorn! Soooo last week we finally discovered the truth about Komachi and this week we are preparing for the final battle along with the last episode, but I have a feeling this series might get another season in the future or will it? I have no idea if Fantasista Doll is that popular…

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

This show has jumped more sharks than Free!

As far as who’s ‘right’ and who’s ‘wrong’, of course it’s a grayish area. Komachi is trying to bring back her favored doll, but at the expense of these other five dolls. And even if it won’t explicitly kill or disable Sasara, Madeleine, Akari, Shimeji, and Katia, it will make them forget Uzume, essentially making them ‘new’ dolls. That’s the impression I got.

So basically, Komachi values her friendship and memories with Sonnet more than she values Uzume’s friendship and memories with all 5 of them. Of course, I don’t get why you can’t just ‘backup’ the dolls as they are now, use the copies to extract the data, and then everyone lives happily ever after, but hey, there’s no tension if you could do that, is there (although I’m half expecting Rafflesia and bro to come up with this next episode just as Komachi and Uzume are going to fight).

The other big problem is Uzume herself. It’s probably a lot more authentic to a Japanese audience, but to a western audience, Uzume comes off as far too ‘do what you want’. Come on! Stand up for your friends! Stand up for yourself! You don’t want them to go, they don’t want to go, but everyone’s too worried about looking selfish to say so!

I’d put Komachi in the wrong. She abandoned her other 5 dolls and must have known that would hurt them and she’s willing to sacrifice their memories and friendship with Uzume to bring back her favorite doll. I can understand wanting to bring back a loved one or a very dear friend, but she has no right to sacrifice the happiness of others to do so. Everyone suffers loss in their life; they must learn to deal with it and not make others suffer to ease their own suffering.

      • Highway says:

As annoying as they are, this comes down to a trolley problem. Who is worth saving? Obviously, Komachi thinks saving Sonnet is worth the hardships she herself had to face in giving up Sasara-tachi. She didn’t abandon them out of neglect or contempt. Especially since they won’t necessarily cease to exist (Komachi seemed to think there was a non-zero chance that the extraction wouldn’t even erase their memories). She had to give up all the others to Uzume, for the chance at recovering Sonnet.

Now, obviously, the choice for Uzume is easier, because she doesn’t really care whether or not Sonnet is recovered.

        • HannoX says:

Komachi is only guessing when she thinks the dolls may not lose their memories. Regardless, she put them through a lot of suffering without giving them a choice in the matter. Why couldn’t she have told them they had grown as much as they could with her as their master and that they should have a new master? She had no consideration for their feelings and just went and did what she wanted. And now she’s making them suffer again. She treats them as objects, not people. If she asked them and Uzume, they’d probably be willing to go along with her plan in order to recover Sonnet. But she’s not willing to take that risk. Which means she doesn’t have any faith in them.

You’ve nailed the first shark right there. We have no clear ideas about how this system works; it’s been pretty much made up each episode. Very muddied.

I figured the doll’s previous master was a girl. That appearance yet trying to say it was a boy didn’t sit well with me. There was always trouble believing that. But Komachi was being cold and selfish, in my opinion. Abandoning them just to stimulate their development after who knows how long then suddenly shows to take them from someone else like it’s no big deal and for something that will only ease her pain. There’s no way to describe how inconsiderate that is. Not to mention that it’s also stomping on the relationship of others for personal gain. That’s really not cool.

Komachi would be the worst pokemon trailer of all time because she would give them to you for free and then return months later and take them away if they evolved or got stronger! Yes she is terrible and for what? To bring back a dead friend? LOLOLOL damn…
