Q-vier is just hanging around this week after killing Aina.
With only four or five episodes left of Valvrave what can we expect? Last week left us with quite the shock with the death of Aina even though she was a background character I feel that her death is important for the story, but will it help move things along this time? I have no idea! We all know this series can be quite random so just about ANYTHING can and will happen.

I have noticed a trend lately with Gargantia, Valvrave and even Majestic Prince that all of them seem to be on par with each other in terms of themes of episodes especially this week since most of them were filled with characters crying as they deal with some “drama” like friends dying in Valvrave, Red leaving Amy in Gargantia and energetic team leaders losing all their motivation in Majestic Prince, I know most of those drama themes are weak compared to someone dying, but in the end drama is drama no matter how we look at it right? Now back to Valvrave, with the loss of Aina how has that pushed the characters? Honestly I think it affected Kyuuma the most because he feels completely helpless right now and he always appeared that he was the closest to Aina, but we did see some heartbreaking scenes with Rion, Shoko, Marie, Haruto, Saki and it pissed off Raizou as well! After seeing his reaction it definitely places him as the next Valvrave pilot and I think the next episode title is like dog and lightning? Also his nickname is Thunder. So that might happen; however Kyuuma did say something about wanting to take a mecha for revenge? Personally I think that would make for a better story instead of the bully character suddenly becoming a pilot to save his friends? Then again thinking back both of these guys have lost close friends in this series which gives them the same motivation, even though one wants revenge while the other might be doing it to save people.

What the hell is that green stone thing in Cain’s captain’s quarters is it a soul or something because Valvrave has several supernatural themes and I could totally see something cheesy like the green stone containing the soul of L-elf’s princess that he loves? I wonder if he is a space vampire like Haruto and Saki because of that mark on his neck and what did he mean by “With this, our race can finally connect lives together, I hear the bells of absolution ringing O, bride of ours!” I guess my soul theory could work? Maybe Cain needs to put the green stone inside of one of Valvraves for some great mission.

End thoughts
Well this was certainly a depressing episode as we saw how each character deals with Aina’s death, but at the same time we had some interesting developments with L-elf’s background with the mysterious princess character. I wonder what they plan on doing with that story and is it a possible romance story that will eventually get explored soon or are they saving it for the second season? I certainly hope we learn more about her, speaking of L-elf! Why is so damn cool? I really like him a million times more than Haruto because the side characters entertain me more than the main dude. Right now I like Saki, Shoko, L-elf, Marie, Rion and Akira!

….I’m just wondering who/what made the Valvraves in the first place since everyone seems to be saying that it’s beyond all current technology. Though from what they’ve shown us, it looks like the answer will be “god did it” or something.

I’m pretty sure the answer as to who made the Valvraves lies with either that teacher who appointed himself to check them out while mentioning “bride” and being in a room with unfinished Valvrave models or the Dorssian commander Cain who’s refusing to report L-Elf’s betrayal and the fact he may also be a space vampire because of the Valvrave mark on his neck. This is speculation on my part but I think they want to create a whole new race.

I personally think none of those three guys should be a pilot. Here’s me being all ‘for the wrong reasons’, but that’s what it seems like. And yet, I didn’t have any problem with Saki’s reasoning for wanting to give up her humanity, become semi-immortal, and pilot Carmilla.

The way I see things, the remaining episodes will be driven by character developments and finalizing the Valvrave pilot choices while the action and storytelling will take place in Fall of this year.
At least L-Elf’s reasoning for betraying Dorssia has been made clear. Thanks to the reveal, he makes me think of Jormungand’s Jonah being an unwilling child soldier. With all his precise strategizing, he clearly was waiting for the opportune moment to break free and wanted Haruto’s Valvrave for himself using the orders given to him as a cover.
There’s too much speculation to assume who’s going to sell their soul next to become a vampiric mecha pilot. On the one hand, the next episode’s title could be a spoiler telling us it will be Thunder and on the other, it could someone we’ve yet to consider. And handful of people know the secret so this is anyone’s guess. I’m leaning on Shoko getting her own. That pink Valvrave has her name written all over it.

Another amazing episode from Valvrave!
The Dorssians are getting serious and the new JIOR students are as well. With Aina’s death, things take a serious turn as Dorssia once again invades and begins to fight the students in earnest and even with the power of two Valvraves on their side, the students are still losing badly. It’s only when Haruto finally makes his deal with L-elf that L-11 saves the day.
Speaking of our silver-haired awesome powerhouse, we get to see into his background a bit and find out what his relationship is with the pink-haired princess. It seems L-11 was from one of the countries that Dorssia conquered and was being sent to a concentration camp, but he was able to escape. However when about to be captured by the guards he takes the Dorssian princess hostage. However the princess makes a plea for his life and sacrifices half of her life for his which allows him to live. This gives a key to why he was so upset with Haruto’s use of the term “half”, and why he’s doing what he’s doing.
Meanwhile, Kyuma and Raizo are emotionally ravaged by Aina’s death and to say they will become pilots next episode is practically writing on the wall. (The next episode being entitled “Dog and Thunder”, which is a play on the two’s names, “Raizo” meaning “thunder” and Kyuma’s family name being “Inuzuka”, meaning “dog house”.) You get to see more of the bishie Nazi kid hit squad and none of them can understand why Cain isn’t telling the higher ups about L-11. Cain however has plans of his own and again proves that he knows much more than anyone else in this story. He knows that the OS-tan of the Valvrave is named “Lune” and he speaks of his “bride”. He also wears the mark of the Valvrave which can indicate that he too is a space vampire.
L-elf, Haruto, and Saki all wage battle against the Dorssians, and with L-11’s help, they’re able to win. Meanwhile, Satomi is falling apart because Shoko is taking over all the parts of his life, from his job as class president, to that of being elder brother to Akira. I have a feeling that he too will be unfortunately dying soon, if only to prove himself as strong a person as Shoko.
Haruto again is quite naive, as L-11 has pointed out several times, and always wants to save everyone. However, we know there will come a time where he will not be able to save everyone and that is what will put him to the test.
Can’t wait till the next episode, I give this one a 9/10!

If the preview title will make it that it will be Kyuuma and Raizou to pilot the Valvraves next, I will hazard a guess that it will be Akira who will pilot the last one. The OP song kind of has them in order of showing(around 00:39). Saki, Kyuuma, Raizou, Akira, then Aina, Marie etc.
Though how she’ll get out of her hikkikomori safehouse is beyond me.
So much for Saki being a pilot though. She’s getting pushed around ever since she started piloting. It’s probably why Eruerufu isn’t interested in her even though she and Haruto are both pilots.
Ah, the curse of the female Sunrise mecha pilots…That bodysuit though…
And obligatory mention of the coffee dialogue. Can’t forget about the most hilarious and memorable dialogue this season.
Despite the craziness, I’m still enjoying this show. It’s not really a trainwreck of sorts as it’s self-aware of what it’s doing and I consider that a good thing. So yeah, good stuff.

This episode was good, it’s provided some good background to L-Elf, which is starting to remove the mystery that surrounds him. And commander Cain, what was that thing on his neck? Maybe he’s a space vampire as well? And I wonder about the princess, could it be she’s linked romantically with L-Elf? Hopefully the next episode brings some more action and answers.

I think he’s a space vampire but one that’s on a high level of sophistication. Kind of like the difference that separates pureblood vampires from those that used to be human. Haruto and Saki are no longer in human range but they don’t have any markings on their necks.
