Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S – 03
Misaka got owned by a level zero? WHAT IS GOING ON!?
Welcome back for more Railgun season two on Metanorn and so far this series continues to be interesting as we discover more information on Misaka’s backstory related to the sisters, Accelerator and the messed up cloning experiment, but anyway enough chatter let us get to the episode review…
Misaka’s electrified quest
Misaka-“Forget saving the world! I gotta catch beat this boss!”
Misaka-“Crap, I left my epic cardboard box for my sneaking missions at home.”
If you have been following along with season one and this second season you have already seen the various ways Misaka uses her level five powers besides firing that awesome railgun of hers, but if you don’t know then let me tell you! She can use it to climb walls, use metal particles to form weapons, blocking out mental powers, magnetize vehicles and with this episode she shows off her computer hacking skills. I just love all the unique ways Misaka uses her powers, but it proves to me that she can basically break into any government facility with no problems like we saw in this episode. I was tempted to say that Academy City better be happy that Misaka is on their side, but I think that will quickly change thanks to discovering that her DNA was used in some top secret level five cloning program; however Misaka simply believes the program was “frozen” for now? I guess we will have to wait to see her reaction after meeting her massive army of sisters. I wonder how we would feel knowing after a doctor visit they used our blood to create random clones of us? Just kidding, I know it isn’t exactly THAT easy to make a human clone with our current level of technology. I almost forgot to mention Shinobu’s involvement “programming” the clones act a certain way? That was interesting because with past experiences we all know the various forms of Misaka clones have odd ways of speaking, but I assume that was just Shinobu’s handy work to make the copies easier to boss around?
Fun with Misaka and friends
Don’t you dare touch Misaka’s bear Kuroko!
Saten needs a hug right now…
Shinobu-“I shall call it Leage of legends or maybe Sword Art something?”
Do not attempt to grab or you will get a shocking surprise~

Misaka sure is sneaky huh? I mean damn is there nothing she can’t do with her powers? I forgot to list get free soda from the vending machines in my list of other uses for electric powers. Besides sneaky little Misaka there were other things I left out of my main topic like Kuroko molesting her beloved onii-sama’s giant teddy bear which left me asking WHAT ARE YOU DOING Kuroko?! Other than that Saten got defeated by Erii this week because she found the most cash cards, but I bet Erii spends the extra money on special ingredients for her cooking. Speaking of money we got to see Misaka wear something different this week instead of her usual uniform, but I suspect we will get a random beach episode after all the serious stuff with Shinobu and her involvement with the level five cloning experiment. I wonder if we will see some of Accelerator’s backstory and how he got pushed into becoming the first level six in Academy City and how could we forget Touma? I think it is safe to say that Misaka does not know him in this current timeline, but I don’t really expect anything mind blowing from that meeting…

I voted epic lasers, though watching her climb the wall reminded me of Cole from Infamous. I enjoyed seeing Misaka utilize her electric abilities in multiple ways.

FK YA LAZERS aka railguns I fixed it, but yeah I love how the creators gave her multiple ways of using her powers xD

They’re doing a good job setting up the story arc, but I’m a little worried / disappointed that it’s been sneaky secret-agent Misaka doing everything and all we get of everyone else is ‘eating dinner’ or violating Misaka’s teddy bear. It loses a lot of that ‘not-ordinary kids finding out not-ordinary stuff by doing ordinary things’ that I liked a lot about the first series.

The first series alternated Misaka hanging out with her friends doing ordinary things with Misaka being heroic and saving the day. I’m sure we’ll get scenes in the future of the four main girls hanging out together.

At least I hope we get scenes like that. They added so much to the first series, showing that despite her awesome power and the sense of justice that compells her to right a wrong or save the day, at heart Misaka is an ordinary girl.

For the ‘yeah but…’ we didn’t get a whole episode and a half of Misaka out doing her own thing. At most it was “all the girls set up the final confrontation and then Misaka provides the denouement”. That’s what I mean is different. Heck, most of the times in the first series when Misaka was out causing trouble, she was either with someone else, or was alone because the rest of the group was already on the case.

True that highway I love that we are getting a decent story arc from railgunS and with most episodes we have a few random things with Saten, Kuroko and Uiharu doing their daily lives xD

I’m not so sure about the choices in the poll. Misaka doesn’t create a laser, although I’m sure if she had the proper crystal or gas tube she could power an epic laser. She uses her power and a coin to make a mass accelerator–a railgun.
BTW, the US Navy is working on developing railguns to put onboard ships. Which rasises the question–Was the US Navy behind the cloning project in order to deploy Misaka clones on its ships? And when the Navy learned the best it could get were Level 3s it abandoned the project?

Yes I know its not a “laser” but a railgun! I was just trying to make it a bit creative xD
I saw that before and was like WHOA DAMN THAT IS AWESOME!

Misaka has gotten owned by a Level 0 before. His name is Kamijou Touma. :3

True that, but at least Touma didn’t have to punch her in the face thankfully xD

But he came pretty damn close to doing it. I wonder if she’d become part of his harem afterwards. That seems to be the side effect to most girls he comes into contact with. Falcon Punch then they submit!

if Touma punched Misaka the hate for him would increase by a million!

There is no action without consequence, my friend. Fortune favors the bold.

hahahah yeah that is true

It took me some time to watch this. I was expecting the episode from my usual download site but it seems to be late. Man, watching an anime on a anime site feels so primitive now.
A level 5 gets owned by a level and hardly puts up a fight. What the hell is going on here?!
So many cash cards! I could have been filthy stinkin’ rich had I a chance to be there! Life is so not fair! *sob*
Kuroko has issues and needs a therapist as soon as possible. It’s too bad that bear has to serve as her Instead (à la Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge) being violated because Misaka isn’t there. As if she’d get that far if she had the opportunity. All that is winning her is a very slow electrocution if Misaka sees her.
As for the Radio Noise Project, I’m sure the conspiracy goes all the way to Aleister. After what happened with Kazakiri in Index II, he seems like the guy with deep enough pockets. Maybe Shinobu was sent there directly under his orders.

Ahahah yeah I remember I used to do that back in the day!
Misaka could have owned Shinobu in a matter of minutes, but I guess they are saying she let her guard down? Still it was hilarious to see how the two of them acted together.
LOLOL Kuroko! She needs more than a therapist maybe a straight jacket and some pills? Then again, I LOVE how crazy she gets without her Onii-sama around <3
Right I think everything points back to Aleister and if I remember correctly Index destroys the tree diagram in the third or fourth episode of Index season one? I just can't wait to see Misaka meet her sisters! I imagine she will freak out >.>
