MetaFap – 36 [NSFW]
Demons, ninjas and yuri friendship for the win!
—————————————————-
Senran Kagura – 12 [END]
That is the lesson we can take from Senran Kagura! I think? Maybe?
Looking a bit like a genderbent wolverine there Homura!
Fire hair? I approve!
Something that will never change for poor Asuka…
Oh hello there final episode of Senran Kagura on Metanorn! Yes you survived and we have finally reached the end of the madness that is known as Senran Kagura aka boob ninjas, but I have to admit this final episode was really awesome in terms of FRIENDSHIP power provided by all the ninjas working together to save BLANK and BLANK? That was kind of amazing also both girls turned into badasses after they combined with the other girls to own that odd hydra looking monster? So what happened to the evil ninja girls? I have no idea, but I can only assume that we will get another season of this because these kinds of shows appeal to a certain crowd, I mean Samurai girls got another season and there are countless episodes and OVAs released for Queens Blade.
Overall would I watch another season of this trash? Part of me says yes and the other part says no thank you! Well maybe? I guess if they added a few new characters to the mixture maybe that might make things exciting or the current cast gets fully replaced by all new characters. In terms of ecchi moments Senran Kagura was not killed by sunbeams and hardly any steam, but I suspect we will get lots of service shots in the OVA that is set to release soon? Those are usually fodder for bath scenes and since we have mostly girls running around you can expect yuri explosions. So should you watch this series if you passed on it originally? I would say NO you are better off skipping this forever…anyway thanks for following me on this ninja adventure with the winter MetaFAP!

Vividred Operation – 12 [END]
Seriously can anyone else top this kind of detailed service in 2013?
Cure Kickass at your service!
I kind of wish this was a kick instead of a punch.
Rainbow plus explosion equals FANTASTIC ANIMATION
That sure was an ending. Um, it had its good parts, I guess? The whole POWER OF FRIENDSHIP leading to fixing Rei’s world and that tearful goodbye was pretty cute. I’m perfectly willing to look past the fact that it was a giant deus ex machina; expecting more from this series would be silly. It played the expected tropes well, such as Rei’s gift of her muffler to Akane. That final scene with Akane appearing to discover Rei while delivering newspapers in the Winter (while STILL wearing skintight hot pants? Do females just not have any nerves in their legs in this universe?) was almost perfect. Ending right on Akane’s face turning into a big smile was goddamn beautiful. The only thing I would have changed was making the figure in the distance a little more ambiguous.
It’s just a shame that the climax was so, so disappointing. Right off the bat, the show did a poor job communicating just how powerful this crow-turned-Alone was. Professor Isshiki yelling out, “It’s too powerful! We’re doomed!” is really not convincing, and it shooting down planes and ships isn’t impressive when we’ve seen plenty of other Alones do the same. Show the girls struggling, maybe getting beaten up or knocked unconscious AFTER Docking if you want us to believe that it’s a real threat. Instead, once Akane and friends decided to go for it, their Vivid forms seemed to have little trouble against it, even if they weren’t doing much damage. To the show’s credit, Vivid Red Operation was pretty awesome. Black & Red, like I predicted (even if that doesn’t make up for the disappointing lack of Green & Yellow), and thanks to Rei’s alternate dimensional super strength, they beat the Alone with a really big punch to the face. That’s fucking awesome.
Well, Vividred Operation is finally over, and it wasn’t a bad ride. It had a pretty transparent story about friendship and love that worked pretty well due to just how straight it played it. It was also pretty transparent about its inspirations, as the staff at A-1 made references to many well known works such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Dragonball Z, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Strike Witches, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and even Crypton Future Media’s character Hatsune Miku with varying levels of subtlety. I was mainly here for the high flying action, which it delivered on at times but failed at the most important times such as the series climax in this episode. The mid-season climax in episode 8 while Akane was hospitalized was the highlight of the series, and that’s a shame. The Docking concept was a great one, but the show never took that next step of using someone other than Akane or involving more than just 2 girls. I had fun, but I certainly expected a lot better from the people who brought us the excellent Strike Witches anime. Ah, what might have been.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha – 12 [END]
Even though she has five or six different voice actors…
Still not evil enough.jpeg
Your argument is invalid my moe demon king has a teacup for a hat
It sure is tough being the hero of this universe.
The finale of Series 1 of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is done, and while it wrapped up some of the stories that were ongoing, it left more open-ended. Yuusha was able to save Maou from the specter of the previous demon kings, and reattach Head Maid’s arm, Maou was able to reassert her leadership of the Demon realm, and in the human realm, the war was successfully put off until the snow began to fall, while the soldier student of Maou saved the Maid Sisters from the vengeance of the one-eyed ex-general. Looking toward the future, the merchants want to open trade with demon realm, the church is trying to find a way to get rid of the Crimson Scholar and the success of the Southern Triad, using firearms and an alliance with the blue demons, and Maou and Lady Knight continue to vie for the love of Yuusha, even though neither of him will follow Torajirou’s advice and “get him on the bed already.”
All in all, Maoyuu left as many questions and plot lines open as it wrapped up. The series was stellar in parts, particularly the first episode when Maou was stating her purpose and convincing Yuusha and in episode 9 with Older Sister Maid’s strong speech in favor of self-determination. But frequently it got confusing, mostly because it felt like the series was trying to do so much in so short of a time. I also had problems at times following the uneven time skips, where in one episode we could have a skip of a couple days, followed by a month, followed by 6 months, and the show wasn’t good about cluing the viewers into that in an obvious manner. It’s certainly not often that a show goes through almost 3 years in a 12-episode series (and you’d expect Younger Sister Maid to grow up some in that time, no?), so I give them credit for doing that, I just wish it had been a bit more explicit somehow.
One thing that was consistently good in the show was the artwork, using a style of backgrounds and scenery more reminiscent of an oil painting than an anime. Voice acting was good, although sometimes a bit dry during the explanations of economics and politics, but that’s more due to the subject matter. It did feel like we never really got to develop the warmth between Yuusha and Maou that the first episode seemed to promise, and that was disappointing. But overall, it was a very enjoyable show to watch, and I’m hopeful for a second season that will continue the story.

Boob Ninjas: I definitely think this series got a lot better as it went, especially when it introduced the Hebi girls and didn’t make them just the ‘bad guys’, but went to a lot of trouble to make them the ‘other good guys’. The rivalry worked well for the series, and so did the uniting against the real bad guy. And as cheesy as it could get, the show was fun to watch and quite an enjoyable finish.
POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments
..this a half way thru drop for me…did it really get that better, or is everyone high on the heady yuri aroma?
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
It really got better. The action picked up, the story picked up, people stopped acting as much like idiots. You really reached the nadir when you dropped it (I’m guessing that was somewhere like when the Hebi girls invaded Hanzou and Hibari was a total idiot trying to make friends with Haruka).
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
@Highway: Senran did improve over the course of the twelve episode bench and I enjoyed how at the end both teams of ninja girls worked together to save the day, but I kind of wanted a different ending! I guess we might see another season in the future and hopefully some new girls join up for the fun? xD
@Skylion: for sure bro there is all kinds of Yuri vibes from this series! I mean Haruka was all over Hibari when she was on their team for the last few episodes…
POWUH: 500-599 with 519 comments
I was actually surprised in Vividred when Akane and Rei ended up docking. I think it was the randomness of it? No key was produced and it was really like, “yay! We’re friends let’s do this thing!” It wasn’t bad per say…just unexpected?
POWUH: Meta Resident with 1692 comments
I thought it was always obvious that Akane and Rei were going to dock at the end, although it might be as part of all 5 girls docking together.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
I was more surprised that Akane didn’t plant a big smooch on Rei’s lips. As for them docking, I didn’t think much about skipping the intermediate steps of giving her a key and then transforming and then transforming again. No need to bother with all that, especially since she’s leaving after that.
I was pretty disappointed it was sequential docking, rather than additive or multiplicative. When we got the first docking with Himawari, I was like “Here we go!” and then they finished their move and Himawari fell to her death…
POWUH: 500-599 with 519 comments
When Himawari fell I was like, “Wait…isn’t the ocean the only thing below them!?” But no, they landed on the building thing.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
THAT WAS AWESOME! Vivid RED FOR THE WIN! I loved the animation and music during that moment and now I just want to rock out to the OST.
POWUH: Meta Resident with 1692 comments
Boob Ninjas: I’d have to say this was the worst show that I finished this season, though I did drop a couple others. But mostly it was bad because a couple of the “good” ninja girls were all but worthless until the last 2-3 episodes. Showing that the Serpent Academy girls weren’t really bad was one of its best points. When the two sets of girls were finally equals in ability the fights finally became good. I did notice that both sets of girls became more powerful when they were fighting in just their underwear. Would that mean they’d be even more powerful fighting naked? Will a second season or OVA answer that question?
Vividred: The raven (or crow if you prefer) had the All-Seeing Eye! Luckily the girls weren’t that much bigger than Hobbits.
The lack of a Yellow-Green dock was disappointing, as was the lack of all docking together. But at least it was consistent that Akane was the key to docking. And I suppose the serial docking was as legitimate (for lack of a better term) as all docking together would have been. But, yeah, that last fight was over too quickly and easily for what was supposed to be the big, climatic battle. And the anime studio didn’t forget to give us one last dat ass shot.
I guess this anime did what it had to do, but it wasn’t anything special as a magical girl series. Will there be a second season? Does there really need to be one? Another season of Strike Witches would be much better to have.

Another season of Strike Witches would be much better to have.I was aaaaaaaching for this to be so about half way thru. Akane was no Miyafuji….that girl cannot be stopped…POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments

VividSymphogear: Symphogear was one of those shows that had a strong push in the first arc, and went gradually downhill while checking every trope in the box. It had a rich world, good characters, and a mildly working gimmick. But that world never got the chance to show off much, with broad swaths of exposition given over to tiny waves of hands, and fanservice. In that, VividRed is very much a spiritual successor to Symphogear…
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
I love the Vividred universe so far and I am curious to see if they ever make plans to expand on this first season, but the only thing I can see them doing next is a Nanoha-ish progression where the girls get older and continue saving the world? I know in Nanoha the main girls from the first season end up teaching other girls how to save the world with magical power xD
POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments
Spammy ate my VividComment:
But I’ll just talk about Maouu.
Love it from start to finish, none of the time skips bothered me in the least, because this show was always bout the thematic approach to progress and self-determination; stories best told in big old chunks.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
I think it was the inconsistency that threw me off with the time skips. I would start thinking “How did that happen so fast?” and then realize “Oh, now we’re 3 months later”. This was worst with the purchasing of grain futures.
POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments
Like I said, I was able to take it in stride, as I was mostly wrong about this show being Cataan: The Anime.

Senran Kagura – 12 [END]:
Oh, please, this was nothing. Believe me, I’ve survived through worse animes. Highway can vouch for that without a problem.
The ending was predictable but it was still awesome and wow, was it a feast for the eyes seeing all the girls fighting in hot swimsuits. Surely everyone saw both sides working together a mile away however they did look a lot better as friends. I couldn’t take them seriously as enemies because their battles sometimes looked like playground fights, just that ninja weapons are included.
The finale with the Serpent girls vanishing from the school’s ruble screams second season and it should have one. Though if it does, I hope it doesn’t take three years like it did with Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls. I finally marathoned that series and now I’m ready for Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride. And of course it appeals to a certain crowd. There’s good old fashion ninja action and fanservice that would turn anyone’s head. It even hooked someone like Overcooled and that shocked me until I was speechless.
POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments
Believe me, I’ve survived through worse animes.
Too name a few? For me, the worst I ever suffered thru was Seikon no Qwaser II. Not even the awesome that was Ekaterina Kurae could save that rubbish. How does Boob Ninjas stack up to that?
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
I never watched Seikon no Qwaser one or two. But I’ve suffered through worse anime (Accel World). Hmm, in the world of fanservicey fighting anime, I’d say that Senran Kagura was better than Maken Ki, which I made it through, Didn’t make me want to drop it like I did with Manyuu Hikenchou. It was probably better overall than Hagure Yuusha, but they had such different focuses that it’s hard to compare. It’d put it about on a level with MajiKoi (and indeed, I gave both a 7 on MAL).
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
I never finished the first season of Seikon no Qwaser but it was fun to watch. Until that’s done with, I can’t say anything about the second season nor can I make a comparison. However the animes I felt I wasted time on were Shining Hearts and Sacred Seven. But I’d put Senran Kagura alongside Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai and High School DxD and those turned out alright.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
Seikon no Qwaser is one series I just can not sit through! I tried the first three episodes and gave up on that damn series, but I always hear the story is interesting? Yeah Senran is up there with Dakara Boku wa H! or Hagure Yuusha? Either way mindless fodder xDD

Vividred Operation – 12 [END]: The series ended on an acceptable note after going through a consistant story. It wasn’t all that but it never got dull with the action or character development and it always had its funny moments with Akane constantly gorging herself on mayonaise. The girl practically mainlines the stuff. The side gem was the fanservice which made those hot pants a recent trend and something to look forward to every episode.
With the battle against the transformed crow, I really felt some Neon Genesis Evangelion nostalgia with everyone fighting like it was an EVA and how coincidental that both that and Vividred have a character named Rei. It would good seeing the girls docked forms one last time. My favorite still happens to be Vivid Green and it was surprising that Akane and Rei could dock and that Akane was the that iniated it. I guess Rei could do it because her energy is similar to the Manifestor Engine and the girls’ Vivid suits.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
I love that final episode of Vividred because of that epic animation and yes we all can agree the fanservice in that series was out of this world xD
Rei x Akane docking is the greatest thing ever created! I was waiting for the final operation to be a kick straight out of GunBuster1 and 2! Wow….just…wow…

Senran: Yeah of course a season two is a must for boob ninjas the ANIMATION! Oh lord Funimation is going to have p much the entire cast of Freezing doing Senran Kagura dubs.
Vivid: Yep! RED FOR THE WIN! God that animation was amazing to watch and as for a crossover with Strike Witches I would totally love that, I mean we could have Rei open a door to that world? The alones are practically the Neroids from Strike Witches anyway.
Maoyuu: Ahahaha yeah xD

POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 77 comments
I have to say, boob ninjas was something different. I think they borrowed their jiggle physics from Mortal Kombat, and then amped it up. And how did Mirai manage to hide a jet under her dress? And that grandfather of Asuka is a sly one, always seems to have sushi rolls for the girls at the right times. Overall it’s just all fan service.
Vividred was alright, it had some sort of plot within all the fan service. I do question though the school uniforms, skintight hot pants. Always sends a great message about your school. Last episode let me down. Dr. Isshiki was losing his mind, giving up all hope, yet the girls are like, calm down old man we got this. It felt rushed, like they had to finish quick, and it was predictable that Rei would dock with Akane, yet no instructions on what to do first? But overall I enjoyed the series, and it should probably be left at where it is.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
Live on boob ninjas! I guess we might see another season of that? Personally I could watch more, but I just want new characters to join the current cast or just go with five brand new girls? Yeah let’s go with that.
Vividred’s final episode was fantastic! I mean the animation was epic during Akane+Rei’s final docking and their fused form looked AWESOME! HOLY CRAP IT WAS GOOD~
POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 77 comments
We will probably see another season of boob ninjas, and the characters are good, but I would like to see more into their lives before the academy, we know some back story but a little deeper would be nice. And new characters always spices things up, especially for Katsuragi (Asuka knows all about that one.) but the fighting was good, I’ll go with that, and I would like to see the girls pitted against different people from the opposite team, instead the same pairings every time. And I’ll admit, Hibari and Yagyu, major shipping has occurred.
Vividred was excellent, I just felt that the first half of the episode was abit rushed in a story sense, but the continual docking was awesome. And the action was great, the way hey would dock, re dock and then finally Akane and Rei, it made it action packed. The docked form of Rei and Akane was sweet, and that punch, more power than Mr Satan’s Meagton punch. Seemed fitting that they punched the mutated crow, sort of a gtfo that was called for by the situation. I wouldn’t mind seeing another season of vividred, I don’t know which way they could head, maybe the crow has friends, but they could do something great as they did with this first season.
POWUH: 700-799 and Parkouring Fanboy with 776 comments
One thing I didn’t have room to mention on Vividred Operation – just what kind of wireless power transmission technology do they have that they trust individual PLANES and SHIPS to rely on off-site power from the Manifestor Engine? The military didn’t think it might be a good idea for their vehicles to use preexisting technology to generate power on the off-chance that something went wrong? Really?
More and more indication that this world was a peaceful utopia for many many generations even before the Manifestor Engine came online.
POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 77 comments
Yeah, I noted that too. Why the hell would you centre every single unit you have around the one power source. It seems kinda silly. At least have power packs in them that store the energy in case of failure. Also, when the power went down, the ejection system in the jets wouldn’t have worked, as its based entirely off the jets electrical system. But I agree, obviously there hasn’t been wars for years, and they haven’t needed to fight all out conflicts.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
Well, it was even dumber than that: They were using the Incarnate power for the planes… but then they had engines that flamed out. That was just bad. Plus, I thought early in the show they said that the Osprey that Aoi was on was one of the first planes to use Incarnate power. Bad continuity issues there. But that’s not what I was watching the show for, so I tried to not let it bother me.
POWUH: Metanorn Regular with 77 comments
Yeah, the show was good, and those where small things, nothing to be concerned about. It’s not like it’s a major plot hole. But now that Senran Kagura has finished (finally, yuri boob ninjas is good to a degree) and vividred has finished along with GuP, and no more Space Battleship yamato 2199 for awhile, I’m going to be very bored. Guess I’ll find a new series to watch, or just clock my videos games for about the billionth time. I am how ever always up for suggestions on what to watch.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha – 12 [END]: Another interesting series comes to a close. It was good while it lasted and I must say that the story was ambitious introducing real world factors like economics and politics. The only part that was hard to watch was episode 9 on how they treated the maid disguised as Maou. Though her speech motivated the population, what the guards did was cruel. The time skips were acceptable otherwise there would be too much material to cover and not enough time to do it while it was doubtful that the series would go beyond 12 episodes.
POWUH: Meta Team and The Mad Scientist with 5525 comments
Senran Kagura was just dumb, brainless fun. The characters weren’t really that deep, but because there were so many of them it was hard to get tired of them. Although they all really had one or two quirks to define them, the screentime was pretty evenly divided so it worked out in the end. To be honest, I’m not sure what it is that got me to watch this to the end other than it didn’t bore or offend me enough to drop it. I guess that’s a victory for boob ninjas?
The Vividred finale was…odd. I liked the serial docking and final Falcon Punch to finish it off. However, I agree with lvlln that it went down too easy. Everyone came out from the fight totally unscathed and even normal docking combos did a lot of damage to it. If they still had a power supply, they wouldn’t have even needed to let Akane dock with Rei to beat it. So much for a final boss..At least it had the right personality for a final villain, trying to be the ultimate lifeform and all that. Nice try, chicken legs.
