Uh. This is a power you would not want to unleash. I would go on an on and on and on….

I barely have time to listen to any sort of podcast; even if the interests are right in my backyard. But I gave this one a shot. I’m surprised I received a Shout-Out. Golly…..Thanks. I’m touched. Not BTOOOM! touched, cause that is wrong.

    Good sets of reviews folks.

I’ll concentrate on points for my fav show this season (year).

Dekomori has every reason to have chuunibyou because….she is in eighth grade. That’s kinda her bag.

I’m hoping for romance. The moment Yuuta caught her feet and set her down, my entire being went DAWWWWWW. I want some pay off for that.

    • Highway says:

Isn’t Dekomori a 9th grader? With middle school in Japan being equivalent to 7, 8, and 9, and High School being 10, 11, 12, I think she’s in her final year of middle school (and already accepted to the high school in first term), so she’s more deluded than most, but she’s still in the right age for it.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yes! Unleash your powers Motherfoshing Gandalf~

Of course I have to give shout outs to you and Highway for being my super cool comment buddies! I always look forward to reading them and all the other comments as well <3

If romance does happen in Chu2koi I suppose it wouldn't ruin the series for me even though I don't see love in the air but more of a special friendship between Rikka/Yuuta, but anything can happen right?

      • Highway says:

You don’t see romance happening? Man, like skylion said, I’ve been seeing it since that first moment they met. You have to after this week’s, right? Right?

Although, Rikka’s words made me think of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou a lot more. “The wind… is coming.”

        • skylion says:

I have amended the romance angle just a bit over in Miyu’s recent review of episodes 5 & 6. Rikka most assured has a crush on Yuuta. But I think he sees her with more sympathy and empathy that with out right romantic feelings. That may change once he twigs on to her true feelings for him, but it’s still a question at this point.

        • Foshizzel says:

I can see a crush type of thing sure sure but looking back on most of the Kyoto ani series there haven’t been a lot of romantic relationships only OTP-ish pairs set up by fans with the obvious exception of Chuunibyou, Hyouka and Clannad+AS

of course maybe they are experimenting with high levels of “nichijou” mixed in with serious tones from Hyouka? I still find it very fun to watch even though I can’t see any romantic vibes yet! Although Yuuta does spend a lot of time hitting Rikka which usually screams loveeeee xD

The wind comment my mind exploded from laughing <3

      • AllenAndArth says:

how can you not see the love in their… i saw it in the opening XXD

        just look closely

        • Foshizzel says:

@AllenAndArth: I kind of see it but at the same time I really see friendship in the air.

@Skylion: Thank you master of hobbits.

      • skylion says:

Beware of the affairs of Wizards, for we are powerful and quick to anger. LOL>

I’ll continue to do my best, for all of you my tricksey little hobbits.

  2. BlackBriar says:

Congratulations on another milestone! You guys are breaking records! More power to Metanorn! I love this site. My top two animes this season are Psycho-Pass and Jormungand: Perfect Order.

“Spam Victim” as Highway’s title? LOL. That’s kinda mean but isn’t far from the truth. I have never seen someone fall victim to Spammy so many times.

Psycho-Pass: Best anime of the season!! Definitely recommended!! Four episode in and I’m in love with it. What makes it work is the dystopian world they have in the future where it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person’s state of mind and personality. The information is recorded and processed, and the term “Psycho-Pass” refers to a standard used to measure an individual’s being. It’s a tense nail biter because being in that society is like walking on thin ice. Anything and everything you do is under a microscope and slightest amount of hostility would get you labeled a latent criminal. And this is where conflict comes in because the crimes are born from situations people face every day that raises stress.

Jormungand: Perfect Order: “Her name is Koko. She is loco. I say “Oh, no”. The first half of the series felt like nothing but randomness but Perfect Order shows that they all had meaning. The second half focuses more on plot than action. The compelling arc was “Dance with Undershaft” where we see other parts of Koko. That she’s actually insecure at times and what looks like she hates herself for being an arms dealer where her expression to Valmet indicated as much after R’s death. The best villain for the second half so far was Hex. She was just all over the place.

Zetsuen no Tempest has wonderful animation (in my opinion) and the dialogues are quite brilliant many surprises happen even in the very first episode you can see many things happened. There was no hesitation on the story plus the Shakespear references and hidden romance between Yoshino and Aika while Mahiro is fueled by revenge. It feels dramatic with the setting that it sometimes looks as if a tragedy is about to happen since the world is being destroyed and despair is quickly and massively replacing hope.

For “K”, the OP and ED fits the tone of the show, the characters and scenery are well-designed, awesome cast and staff; the pace of show is also befitting of each scene. The characters here, you’d swear they escaped from other animes just to be here like Shiro and Kuro looking like No. 6’s Shion and Nezumi, Yata as a similar version of Black Blood Brothers’s Zelman Clock and there’s even that that bartender who looks just like DRRR’s Shizuo. The thing that’s interesting now is the mystery behind who really murdered the member of the gang Homra, where you’d come up with all these theories at the end of one episode then you wait for the next one and you’d have most of them shot down because you were nowhere close to the truth.

    • Foshizzel says:

*bows* thanks so much BB! We can’t do it without awesome commenters like yourself so again thank you kindly.

Psycho-Pass: I just love the tech and the oddball team of crime fighters and the gun? DO WANT! Seriously what a cool anime weapon.

Jormungand: That is my mindless fun series of the week, but the cast of characters just like Psycho-Pass makes everything so much fun to watch! Also the gun play while it might not be 100% realistic like Lvlln said I still have fun watching the crazy action scenes and KOKO <3

Tempest: SUPER POWERS ARE AWESOME and I agree it does have some wonderful animation huh? I still feel it reminds me of Darker Than Black meets FMA course more bones works is always a good thing.

K: Another shut off mind show and kick back to watch the animation and listen to that voice cast and yeah the main duo does look like the no6 cast indeed...I am just glad Neko isn't lusting over Shiro...and again love the Tech in that series it makes me want a super cool tablet as well T___T

      • BlackBriar says:

No problem! I’m just one of the many dedicated commenters here at Metanorn. And I’ve recently crossed my two year mark (about 8 days ago) and I gotta thank OC for taking me in. Good luck on reaching other milestones.

Psycho-Pass: If I ever get my hands on a Dominator gun, I’d find good excuses to use it.

Shin Sekai Yori is a very good mystery anime which also brought scientific and psychological elements. I gives a dark feel like you’ve traveled to another world but you’re still in the same one. About the society that governs it, there’s surely a good amount of corruption in it which someone is probably saying it’s for the greater good.

OniiAi’s main attractions are the girls who each have a different view on the lead Akito. Anastasia, to me, is a deadpan version of Senjougahara with her perverted insinuations. Akiko’s seiyuu sure is off to good start that she landed this kind of role and she’s only 14 years old. Arashi is my favorite, she’s the funniest and most perverted and her being played by Eri Kitamura was better but the fact her character is bisexual and she wants everyone for herself makes me want to cheer when she’s on screen. Now that I think about it, this is the third straight anime produced by SILVER LINK that Eri Kitamura has lent her voice to. The first two roles being C³: Cube x Cursed x Curious’s Kirika Ueno and Tasogare Otome x Amnesia’s Kirie Kanoe.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo: Quirky and entertaining, the animation is very well done and the story is very good and unique too. The implied similarities and comparisons between Mashiro and the cats also show how much work has gone into this story. The interaction between Sorata and Mashiro is good to watch and it’s also good building some romance and drama which does acceptable balance with all the ecchi. Actually at a point, I did compare her to Guilty Crown’s Inori because they were similar but Mashiro is beginning to show contrast.

        • Kyokai says:

Thanks for the support BB! You don’t know how much we appreciate it! True about Psycho-Pass and I’m definitely enjoying Shinsekai as well. Though, after episode 6, K in a way has gotten back to my good books. :3

  3. Highway says:

Thank you all for the mentions. And for a title, perhaps something like “The hand that feeds Spammy”.

I know that I like Shin Sekai Yori and PsychoPass a lot, but if I’m going with the shows that I most look forward to, the shows that I enjoy the most, then my top three (I can’t pick just two) are Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo, Girls und Panzer, and Chuunibyou. And Sakurasou and GuP have to be considered big surprises, I think. Sakurasou because it’s just so great, like Jrow said on a level with ToraDora so far, and GuP because it was super easy to just dismiss it, nobody was talking much about it, and it’s just amazingly well executed.

So I did listen the whole way through, if you count skipping the shows I’m not watching. 🙂

    • BlackBriar says:

Hmmm… I think your title should be short, sweet, to the point and expresses what you’re really into. Something you’re passionate about. Example: Overcooled: The Mad Scientist. I can believe that without a problem because of her sadistic tendencies. And like Hawthorne, he’s into horror so they call him the “Horror Expert”.

      • Karakuri says:

LOL I dunno, “The hand that feeds Spammy” seems pretty accurate. Maybe we can fancy the title up a bit to “He of Lost Words” or something.

I don’t think the team’s titles are that deep. I’m positive that mine was just pulled from my author’s description.

      • Highway says:

I don’t know if I can actually come up with anything cool like you guys in 2 or 3 words. And I hesitate to make it something I’m passionate about, because there’s very little that is *that* important to me. I like a lot of things, but I am myself, so I don’t really identify with other characters or types.

Plus, I thought “The hand that feeds Spammy” worked on two levels, since I get bitten by him a lot too. 🙂

        • Kyokai says:

How about God’s Hand for Spammy?

          • Highway says:

In the words of Rikka… “You could call it that, too.”

(I just love her using that phrase)

            • Kyokai says:

Maybe you are the first in line to tame our spammy (BB, skylion, akagami and D-LaN are following close behind).

            • Highway says:

Let me get my whip and chair. 🙂

            • BlackBriar says:

@Highway: The Spammy Tamer Rises! Congrats on your new title! Welcome to the club.

@Kyokai: Tame? I consider myself an insurance policy. I’m just waiting for an excuse to end Spammy if he beats Highway. I now see he’s beyond control since he turned on his master skylion. If he can do that, he’s capable of anything. Better safe than sorry.

            • Kyokai says:

The more you get bitten, the more experience you gain. :3

    • Foshizzel says:

      You are welcome Highway!

I always look forward to Chu2koi, Panzer and Sakurasou! Those are some interesting shows especially the last two because I planned on skipping them originally…they have surprised me as well.

No worries this was a long one.

      • AllenAndArth says:

why were you guys discussing stuff like this .-.???

      • BlackBriar says:

At first this season, I was planning to skip Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!, Girls und Panzer, Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo and To LOVE-Ru Darkness until you guys showed how fun they were in your posts. Now I’m glad I didn’t skip them. Thanks! This is the busiest season since Winter and Spring. The only exception is Summer.

This was the longest podcast I think you guys have made in a while. Maybe it’s only natural with so many bloggers talking about so many shows.

        • Highway says:

How to reread BB’s first sentence: “At first this season I was planning to skip every single show that’s fun.” I mean, oosh, thinking about what’s left after you count out those 5 shows, that’s a lot of misery in Btooom and Tempest and PsychoPass and SSY and K.

  4. Gecko says:

Well, so far, I’m happy with Sukitte, Shin Sekai Yori, and Zetsuen. (Which for some reason, I watch with French subs. It’s fun.) I was trying some other shows (K, Robotics;Notes) but they were not being plot-ty enough (of course) for me. In the end, I’m just a massive Penguindrum person. I still love that show. I still require shows I watch to have crazy plots. I can’t help it. K was far from cutting it, and I’m still regretting Guilty Crown. Robotics wasn’t really keeping me held in. It was a struggle to remember to watch. Perhaps I’ll try and catch up, although I can’t promise.
[Don’t worry, I do read a few comedy mangas, although 2 of the 3 still have some kind of decent plot. I.e., rom-com. The other is like a serialized American comic.]

    • Kyokai says:

I wonder how does all the Hamlet quotes read in French? And I get your point about K (even when things have finally gotten good in episode 6), not everyone would like to check this out. Hell, if I had less time I wouldn’t be watching half of the Fall shows.

Btw, if you like comedy manga, you should give Yankee-kun to Megane-chan a big chance! :3

    • Foshizzel says:

I am pleasantly surprised with Sukitte even though I was going to pass and never give it a shot! Good stuff from that series.

Good thing with K and Robotic;Notes those are shows you can marathon quite easily! There aren’t really any “arcs” or annoying things like that, bur the latest R;N episode was awesome! And it isn’t really a “mecha” series if you are worried about seeing a giant robot every episode.

    • Jrow says:

Shows like Penguindrum are a rarity, aren’t they? I miss that show, but it’s great to know that it got licensed and is gonna be released in the states at some point. For me, that series is a definite purchase.

  5. Hawthorne says:

Loved the podcast! Listened to it while I was doing some Stat homework and it made things 100x more bearable. OTL

I’m glad Shin Sekai Yori is so popular among you all! I heard the sales are terrible, which is unfortunate. Also, PANZER VORRRRR!

    Thanks for the shout-out/plugging Jrow!

    • Highway says:

I wouldn’t be surprised that the sales for Shin Sekai Yori are disappointing, especially since so much of the show is up in the air. I mean, most of these other shows, you get 4 or 5 episodes in, and you pretty much know what you’re going to get, but there are so many possible paths for SSY to go down, it could be great or it could be just horrible. SSY really has a lot of eggs in the air right now, and it’s not really sure if they’re going to stay there, if they’re going to end up as omelettes, or if they’re going to be egg on the face of the producers. I’m pretty sure it will end up good, but I’m also not plunking down dozens of dollars (or thousands of yen) on discs for something I don’t know about yet.

    • Foshizzel says:

yaaaaaaaaay! Glad you listened buddy! One of these days we will drag you kicking and screaming into one of these podcasts <3

Yeah usually the stuff we like suffers poor sales like my love of Nichijou? I love that but it didn't do anything impressive for sales >.<

    • Jrow says:

Sure thing bud! I forgot to mention the icon thing on the cast, but that’s a nice free service you’re doing for fans like me. I’ll have to save a note to mention it for sure on the next podcast.

  6. AllenAndArth says:

the podcast this time was great
by the way medaka abnormal 5 is out

    • Jrow says:

Thanks for tuning in! We had a nice group of people for this one, which isn’t tough to do considering how many nice personalities Metanorn has. I would’ve talked more if I could go into the ways I’m loving Halo 4 so much. 😉

      • AllenAndArth says:

        you have halo 4 T-T
i want one too…*swiming in poorness* no money=no game T-T

        yeah…metanorn has personalitys…and i dicovered a lot of things i don’t think i should have XXD
        and
nah normally i look at a website where they get the releases quite early like on SAO every saturday before it’s night it’s already translated in english…so if you need i can check out if an episode is already out, if they are translating the series

  7. skylion says:

For all concerned. I’ve released Spammy back into the wild. The poor thing was pining away, and I can only blame myself for any misfortune the wretched creature caused while under my supervision.

It took a special trip, but I released it just in the mountains, just outside this quaint little village called, Hinamizawa. I may spend some time and visit the local shrine.

All of my lulz at this! Thank you Skylion ;D

      • skylion says:

OoOoOoO A Festival. Everyone seems really lively. Cotton pulling? What is up with that?

    • Kyokai says:

That maiden looks dodgy… Is that a megane-glint I saw?
