Saki domination!
Hm, the drawings for the Final 8 gave us some interesting match-ups. Louise and Shana got unlucky, as their chances of moving forward would have been a lot greater against each other. Louise likely won’t stand a chance against Toki, one of the more popular Saki girls of the group. Shana on the other hand is facing Hisa, who is easily the least popular of the group and was dragged along because of her affiliation with the show. With that said, Shana fans and anti-Saki voters will likely be able to push her through to Semis. Nodoka vs. Saki will be an epic showdown as the lovers get torn apart! ╥﹏╥ I predict Saki will move forward however because it would seem the Saki faction have been favoring her this year, if her match against Koromo was any indication. Lastly, the Matsumi sisters have a fated match against each other. They’ve been racking up huge vote totals throughout the tournament so it should be a pretty intense vote, but I get the feeling Kuro-chan will be moving forward with some help from HanaKana.
As for the semi-finals, assuming my predictions will succeed (which they probably won’t ⇀‸↼), Toki will likely top Saki (ufufufu) with the “new girl” prowess she’s shown. On the other side, Shana’s run, if not ended in QF, will definitely be put down by the Matsumi sisters. And to wrap things up, I will go ahead and give my winning prediction to Kuro. (Or Yuu, if she gets the support instead of Kuro.)
My Prediction
Only two remain! Congratulations to both Raiyuu and Samantha Zan for correctly predicting one of the Final 8! (The rest of us weren’t quite as skilled in using our moe powers~) Because you both picked Shana and are the only two remaining this means that Raiyuu, who had Shana as his first pick, has also won MetaMoe and the grand prize for making it the farthest!
Raiyuu, I will be sending you an email to the address you used when commenting to sign up for MetaMoe. I’ll need you to give me some information (which will be private and deleted afterwards) if you wish to claim the prize. If you wish to decline, please let me know or say so in the comments. If you decline, the prize will go to Samantha Zan, who I will go through the same process with since she got second place with the same pick.
Anyway, THANKS SO MUCH FOR PLAYING EVERYONE!~ I hope you had fun playing! This turned into, what I believe, was a successful experiment that I hope I can repeat in the future with even more players. The overwhelming presence of Saki was not something I expected, and because of the lack of Saki picks MetaMoe will be ending sooner than expected, but next year should be a LOT less one sided. (As Saki will not have nearly as much support, especially with the amount of powerhouses that will be competing in 2013.) I would love any feedback anyone has, or you can wait until the final post. The next Saimoe post here at Metanorn won’t be until AFTER the winner is declared. Later!

Look at all the collateral damage. It’s too horrifying to describe. I had fun being part of the Saimoe contest. I’ll learn from my mistakes and do better next time. Defeat is a gateway to many victories, they say. With so many new moe girls coming every season, there’s sure to be enough to cause a major upset.

What I learned was – if you want to win, load your team with Saki moeblobs. I watched one episode and I have nothing more to say about the anime other than its about blobs. of moe.

Glad you had fun, BlackBriar! Next year will likely have a much more diversely powerful group of girls (judging from the shows that have/will air), and hopefully not nearly as one sided as this year. I even heard that the cast of Girls und Panzer are becoming extremely popular in Japan.

I hope you’re right and Shana manages to at least get past this round. She’s the only girl still standing in my fantasy team in Krizzlybear’s league. I didn’t think she or Louise would make it this far, but I guess one shouldn’t count out a KugiRie tsundere in this contest.

Yayoi will have to take revenge in the next tournament, Mwuahaha! XD And yes, Saki does have that cultural barrier to jump over, much like Chihayafuru. It’s actually a very exciting show though once you get a grasp of the basics, especially the latter part of Achiga-hen.

I’m very surprised that I actually won. Can’t say I was expecting it at all since I was of the opinion that Shakugan no Shana wasn’t a super popular series. Still, I’ve always been a fan of her since her anime debut in 2005 and I hope she continues to advance in the competition (as unlikely as that seems).
Thanks for holding the competition Hawthorne. It was fun watching the results unfold as they were released. I look forward to the next time the Saimoe Competition is held with eager anticipation (^_^)

That being said, I think the match ups for the next round are pretty interesting. It’s friend against friend and sister against sister. I can’t say I care much about the Saki and Nodoka matchup, but I am curious to see if Yuu or Kuro wins in their match.

It’s so hard to call on the Matsumi match! D: Yuu is leading in total votes by only a small margin, and throughout the tournament they’ve gone back and forth in vote totals. Gah, it’s the match I’m most interested in at this point.

Yep! I guess it was only a matter of time before they swept the tournament like this. Saki fans have been trying to get a Saki character to win for a few years now, but have always fell short. This must have been their moe blitzkrieg. XD
