Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou – 08

Sup dog I heard you like moe girls, so we put moe girls in your moe anime about high school boys.

More daily lives of highschool boys! I really can’t get enough of this series, but we’re already on episode eight? Damn it still feels like the series just started and now it’s almost over. However I always find another comedy anime series to stick with so enjoy the review.

Stories this week have Mitsuo’s worries, manga, balconies, towers, cake, horoscopes and lots of damn bugs! What is really going on? Random stuff I say.

Mitsuo-“My life is over guys!”         Hidenori-“It can’t be helped.”          Yoshitake-“You should swing away your problems…”

This insane episode starts with Mitsuo going through some emotional stuff, but what is really wrong with this soccer wannabe player?! Probably depressed thanks to his friends picking on him…he should go Accelerator on them but Hidenori and Yoshitake are there to cheer him up. However, their version of cheering someone up is to basically kick their ass…though, they had their reason with that porn stash. Next up! Hidenori and Yoshitake discuss the finer details about manga stories; basically Hidenori wants Yoshitake to critic his manga and give him some helpful advice. Sadly instead of having a nice talk, it turns into a war with fists with Yoshitake getting punched and kicked around by Hidenori… Wow he is so violent this episode…

Hidenori- “EAT MY FOOT! BLARRGGG!”                          Yoshitake-“Stop being so damn emo all the time!”

Being friends with Hidenori takes real hardcore guts!

The following morning Hidenori watches a classmate and a girl talking about sharing DVDs while they stand on their balconies, this makes him feel extremely jealous over their interactions. After he gets home, he attempts this with his neighbor at night by jumping over to her balcony, asking her for a DVD! But instead of making, friends she throws him off of her balcony… Tough break my friend, maybe you should try talking to her first?  What could top jumping from house to house? That is an easy answer! You form a crazy tower of people to retrieve a bag from a tall tree along with an angry twin-tailed little sister; however, you better have more brain power than human tower building skills! Poor little sister character she is surrounded by idiots, who throw their own bags to jam pack her own.

Hidenori-“My life is terrible, maybe I can pay that dude to switch spots with me?”

Hidenori-“Crap! I should have worn my spider-man costume for this.”

Motoharu-“How did this happen!?”        Little sister-“Hell if I know!”      Hidenori-“Crap, I wish I was a super hero.”

After failing to help the little sister out, Hidenori’s friends buy him a cake because he wanted to eat it whole by himself as a wish, but he has a problem with sweets… Wait a minute, Sugita Tomokazu is playing a character that hates sweets?! OH MY GOD…WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS WORLD? Afterwards, Yoshitake reads his horrible horoscope (he shares Kyo’s birthday month), while walking to school and suddenly a wasp to land on Hidenori’s face! I would’ve screamed like a little girl…instead of hitting the wasp he uses Yoshitake’s face to kill it which makes it look more like they were kissing… Anaaga did you write that last skit? Speaking of bugs the episode ends with Motoharu killing mosaic’d centipedes in his house.

Yoshitake-“CAKE IN YOUR FACE!”                  Hidenori-“Thanks I love eating my cake this way.”

Anaaga did you write this?

Mouth to bug to mouth action…

KILL ALL THE BUGS.jpeg

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! Daily lives of high school girls! This week Yanagi challenges Nago-san to a series of contests with fighting and eating ramen; Nago-san wins all and has no idea who Yagani really is… After that the girls play around with their skirts pulling them way over their shirts!? What the hell girls, you are so crazy! Before they can return their skirts to normal, five guys walk past seeing every pantsu in the girls room… Sorry, dudes we have to use our imagination for that scene.

Yanagi-“You might unlock my world of yuri!”               Nago-san-“Wait who the hell are you!?”

Guys-“Mental picture forever saved.”                     Girls-“Sup dudes, don’t mind us we are funky.”

Extra lives of insane high school guys.

Little sister-“I SWEAR I WILL KILL YOU IN EPISODE TWELVE.”                     Hidenori-“……”

Motoharu-“Yep I am just going to walk away from this scene.”

Wait for it! Three…two…one…EEEHHHHHHHHH!?

Getting high! YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

Alright this episode was quite dull and boring for me this week. What were they trying to do? It was like they ran out of funny ideas and had to throw six or more skits together to come up with an episode. I remember a similar thing happening in Nichijou where you had lots of random skits mashed up, but that is the general theme of these types of shows without a “storyline”; it is meant to be off the wall most of the time. Anyway enough rambling about the lame parts of this episode, there were plenty of hilarious moments too.

The short manga section of the episode was great! Although I saw similar things in Nichijou and Gintama; there was a great one involving Gintoki drawing manga with a prisoner…but Daily lives threw in some violence provided by Hidenori. Damn bro punching and kicking your best friend? However that was basically a manly way of saying “thanks for the help dude!”, maybe Hidenori was channeling Kamina and he made Yoshitake his Simon? Either way manga is serious business between friends.

What else…ah yes! The tower or people scene with the bag stuck in the tree? I died laughing when the little sister screamed and displayed more violence. Maybe the overall theme of this episode was teaching us to solve our problems with our fists? They did have a lot of scenes with bugs near the end…that wasp scene was dumb, but I am sure the fan girls were squealing all the way right? But my favorite part will forever be the high school girls making fools of themselves with their skirts. I lost it when those guys walked past and the reaction from the girls was priceless, but we all knew someone would walk by to see them.

The bug spray was the winner for me this episode. Oh the Silence of the Lambs reference killed me. xD

Also, quick tip, that kiss was gross. I think fangirls did what Yanagi was doing this episode or at least tried to. :3

    • Foshizzel says:

Lololol yes that bug spray scene was great! Ohhh is that where it is from? Lololol nice.

AHAHAHAH Yeah that was awful! There are better ways to kill those bugs, yeah everyone even on twitter had a huge talk about bugs and spiders hahaha

Nago-san is back! My beautiful, grumpy, glasses-wearing Nago-san is back! And it seems she took Tadakuni’s advice to “work harder” (work more on her looks and appeal), and lo and behold, the result is a hybrid of her chubby grumpy pizza girl form and her slim bishoujo form. I wish she’d smile more, though.

    Nago-san FTW!

I am a Nago-san fanboy, if you didn’t notice. XD

    • Foshizzel says:

FK YA Nago-san! She is quite awesome…Oh she did? LOLOL nice! At least it was not advice from Hidenori.

No problem there! I am more of a Ringo fan <3 but Nago-san is great xD

      • Myssa Rei says:

But guys, this ISN’T the same Nago. The credits clearly show that her name is spelled with a different kanji.

        • Foshizzel says:

          LOLOL Another Nago? Crazy…

        • The_Magus_Killer says:

Too bad I cannot read Kanji – except for the Yu-Gi-Oh! cards I use in tournaments. Maybe the new Nago is our old Nago’s twin sister? Damn those veigans. XD

        • Yippy says:

Could be a gag on the anime producers’ part. I mean, they even deliberately mess up the sponsors message each week (which I admit, kept me glued to them instead of skipping them).

Nice job though, spotting the name discrepancy, maybe I should watch the credits next time more closely.

        • Yippy says:

Could be a prank on the producers’ part, considering that they mess up the sponsors’ message every time (which I love). Nago 2.0 definitely looks different than Nago 1.0 though, mostly with the eyes. Nago 1.0 also acts more like an adult unlike 2.0, who’s still in high school. Guess we have to wait until it’s explained.

Nice catch btw, I usually just skip through the credits. Maybe I should be more observant next time round.

          • Myssa Rei says:

No, seriously, it’s a different Nago.

            Observe:

            http://i.imgur.com/HIWuq.jpg

The Nago in the most recent popularity poll is the Nago that Yanagin challenged. Notice the notes on top of her name? It’s literally saying “This is not that Nago-san. This is another Nago-san.”

  3. Joojoobees says:

Zukyun! I guess this episode goes to show that you shouldn’t force things that don’t come naturally. In particular, Hidenori’s attempt at getting something started with his neighbor was poorly planned and executed. Yanagi also should slow down and think through her plans before leaping into action, but that just doesn’t seem to be her style.

    • Foshizzel says:

Zukyun! Right I guess it is better to have crazy bits here and there versus one straight up “themed” episode of daily lives. Hidenori jumping from his house to the other was kind of random and stalker-ish! He should have talked instead of ask for a DVD…

Poor Yanagi! Then again she is nuts.

  4. Jrow says:

I kind of felt the same way, Fosh. The bits went by so quick, but it’s likely as you say, just a little lull in the middle area of the series’ run. I did like the DVD bit and the pauses Hidenori took, that was good.

High School Girls are Funky continues to be a win.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep! Like spammed us with gag after gag just doesn’t create to many laughs for me! But there were a few moments that made me laugh.

Hidenori is awesome! But there are better ways to borrow DVDs…yes! High school girls are funky! I want my spin off series.

  5. Toori-chan says:

Damn. Those idiotic boys should have just climbed the tree and get the bag not throw their bags!!! “Worst Aquarion combination of all time.jpeg” is a win.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahahhahah yes they could have climbed the tree! Honestly I was waiting for them to cut the tree down…

      Yay! Aquarion <3 thanks!

  6. Hawthorne says:

I agree Fosh, this episode was probably the least funny so far, but maybe I’ve just been spoiled by the hilarity of the last few weeks. XD Funky girls and the tree dilemma made up for it though!

  7. tatsuya says:

nice frienship yoshitake …what the lolz!!

  8. Yippy says:

Hidenori never fails to amuse and shock at the same time, as expected, though I agree as well, Foshizzel, it was a bit slow and mundane this week. Anyway, I don’t think I’ll ever understand how he came up with the idea to get rid of the hornet like that. Wouldn’t it sting if he missed?

I think I can already hear the typing of yaoi fanfiction writers already…XD

    • Foshizzel says:

Hidenori is always fun to watch and his voice! That gives him true comedic power, slow yes! SO SLOW and lots of side gags here and there made it last forever.

LOL Damn that hornet! FREAKING-A I hate them irl T___T

Yep! Anaaga hard at work <3

  9. Yi says:

“Mouth to bug to mouth action…”

    Ugh… Lovely ♥
