Mirai Nikki – 08

This is honestly the most heterosexual episode of anything I have ever seen. Definately.

Happy 1st of December, guys! The countdown to Christmas has begun! Hopefully the lead up is slow as I have exams straight after…orz. Anyway, this is a stupendous episode, so without further ado…

Eight remain in our Survival Game. An one of the members elects to transfer his diary to a third party, much to Deus’s surprise. Yuki meanwhile is reflecting on Yuno injuring his mum, and also Rei’s “dissappearance” after he succumbed to the poisonous gas. Yuno slinks out from where she’s been stalking him, anyway, and tells him that she thinks he’d be better not to use his diary at their new school. He reluctantly agrees after she reminds him about how he fuckced things up with Third because of it. Yuki suddenly notices they are being watched by Aki from Kamisama Dolls a white-haired guy sporting an intense yandere face.

Once at school Yuki meets up with one of the jerks who sold him out to Ninth when their original school was taken over by her. He starts mouthing off until a girl called Hinata smacks him on the head. Her friend, Mao, also joins in chastising him. Hinata offers Yuki her hand to help him up but SOMEHOW…I don’t know how, he trips and pulls down her trousers, revealing her pants. Hurr. While chatting to the girls about the cheery topic of murders, they mention a guy called Akise (omg my Aki theory is getting stronger), apparently he’s a wannabe Tantei and chronic slacker.

Pantsu makes everyone smile!

The guys all go to the crime scene of the latest murder, they seem to be having fun but Yuno is unexpectedly broody. She carves “Die” in the ground with her foot, so I’d guess she’s jealous of that Yuki’s made friends. Friends he’s about to lose, it seems. Yuki’s diary gives him a warning that Hinata is about to end up dead so the gang race off to find her….which they do. Well, at least part of her. It’s now that Akise decides to show up, wandering out of the wilderness with that smirk on his face. He is voiced by the one and only Akira Ishida (Natori, Natsume Yuujinchou; Break, Pandora Hearts).

Y’all get the Kaworu vibes from this guy, too, right?

And, in what I guess you could call a form of seduction, he caresses Yuki’s face, brings him to his knees and assures him that he’s his friend. Ohohoho, don’t tell me I’m actually going to get to ship a couple that’s canon? So, yeah, Yuki’s new -boy-friend, Akise gets them all to run away from the Resident Evil dogs with robotic teeth (I know, just go with it), and take shelter in a building. Akise tells them that he’s been investigating Yuki for a few days, to which Yuno tosses him an epic glare, and is interested in his connection to basically all of the batshit insane things that seem to go on in their town.

Most of the episode is just Akise looking pretty, if I’m honest.

Yuno is obviously suspicious, and as the dogs start to break in, she points the finger at Akise. With the help of Yuki’s diary and directing though they are able to hold off the dogs until they give up, seemingly shattering the untrustworthy atmosphere. Ah, but lest we forget this is Mirai Nikki, as soon as the apparent danger is gone a new one rises it’s head. With the Future Diary revealed, Mao captures Yuki, holding him at knife-point in front of the others. Hinata also appears, very much alive, and reveals herself to be a Diary owner and that her objective is Akise’s Diary!

END THOUGHTS

Holy shit, guys. This episode was pretty damn good. Akise is the new Aki for Winter, I’m so lucky for the degrees of homolust I’ve been getting in my shows this year. Booya, I think is the term. AWYEAH. Ahem~ anyway, yeah, this guy seems pretty hot for Yuki in the “I’m going to make you trust me then screw you over, cause I’m clearly insane”. It’s that frog-face. All crazies have it. Yuno and Akise have the same smile. It just speaks volumes. It also doesn’t help that he’s voiced by Akira Ishida. It might not be the case for some of you, but I know him best for playing pretty fruity characters so it just adds to the ghey vibes Akise gives off. I’m not complaining though. Never complaining.

I actually thought Rei was the other yandere, which is why I was probably so bitter about his arc. I’d heard yaoi-scented rumors about this show but never enough to spoil it. All I knew was it was someone else that was yandere for Yuki and it was a boy. And when Rei turned up in all his craziness I honestly though “Oh, no. This is it, isn’t it?” Thank god I was wrong! Blame my bad definitions of yandere. Who cares, anyway. Akise is awesome! He is going to be my new favorite I can just tell, but I will get him mixed up with Aki. I will. Just forgive me for that.

There was more bad humor again but thankfully there wasn’t much of it. The animation quality seemed to shoot up a few notches at points as well, which was good. And as usual the fast pace helped create the excitement surrounding the events of this episodes. Hinata and Mao are such bitches. Can’t say that came out of nowhere but it was still a fun twist. I am just itching to find out what happens next!

You gotta love this show. Everyone’s making freakish, homicidal looking expressions on their faces whether it’s intentional or not. Strawberry Blond Yuno’s expressions, no matter where she is are completely intentional. She wants to kill everyone.

Did you know the names of the 12 survival players are based on Roman and Greek Mythology? They’re named after gods and goddesses. Akise Aru? LOL. Akise Aru/Aki (Kamisama Dolls). Is there a connection? They even have the same hair and look.

Unintentional panty shot. Wow, that was a pleasant surprise. Come on, Yuki. You need to be street smart. Being too gullible and trusting will get you killed. And Yuno always seems to know who can’t be trusted 99.9% of the time. Yandere Queen, period!!

    • Oroboros says:

BlackBriar, I gotta ask you to back up that claim – that the 12 Diarists are named after Roman/Greek gods/characters.

I mean, the opening credit does list several names from Roman mythology, but is that it? Or doyou mean that each Diarist is named after a specific character?

      Yuno Gasai is who? Pluto?
      Yukiteru Amano is who?
      Minene Uryuk is who?
      Reisuuke? Kurusu?

      • BlackBriar says:

I found that out from the list of diary characters on Wikipedia. I was surprised they were named after gods and goddesses, especially since the players are Japanese.

Yuno: She is named after the Roman goddess Juno.
Yuki: He is named after Jupiter, the Roman god of the sky, weather and lightning.
Minene: She is named after the Roman goddess Minerva.
Reisuuke: He is named after the Roman goddess Ceres.

Here’s the link where I got the information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Future_Diary_characters

        • Oroboros says:

Ah, thanks. Sorry for the aggressive interrogation. 🙂

Seems more symbolic than anything substantial, kinda like Hideaki Anno’s use of Christian symbols in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

          • BlackBriar says:

No problem. You were just looking for an answer to a question.

Kurusu: Fourth: He is named after the Roman god Mercury.
Tsubaki: Sixth: She is named after Proserpina, the Roman goddess of the spring.

When you think about it, their names being based on gods and goddesses seems appropriate since they’re playing the game to become God.

Mirai Nikki…aka Yukiteru Makes Bad Decisions: The Anime.

I’m really happy we get a touchy-feely Akira Ishida character as well! I totally get those Kaworu vibes too. As much as I like Yuno clinging to Yukiteru, sometimes you’ve got to share the love, ohohoho~

I was expecting at least one of the friends to be traitors (I figured Hinata would come back once I saw her in that picture) but not ALL OF THEM. I guess that one guy is kind of out of the loop, but damn, everyone is this show really is batty. Yukiteru is never gonna make friends at this rate, aww…

aka Yukiteru Makes Bad Decisions: The Anime

😀 Ha! How true. Even if checking out the scene of a grisly murder seems sensible, he should have anticipated that hanging out with new friends would upset Yuno. There basically was no way that the afternoon was going to end well.

  3. skylion says:

He could be excused for making bad decisions. He can’t be excused for making the shittiest on of all. To be normal. Dude, you’re hooked up to a diary that tells the freakin’ future, and now 10 other people want you dead. Normal died for you the moment the show’s PV hit the airwaves.

Kiase’s look is very much different from Yuno’s. I feel like food when he’s around. He looks like he wants to eat me, keeping me alive for as long as possible while he does so. No metaphor need apply.

    • Hime says:

Yuki has reached a new level of dumbass, I agree. I would also love it if just for one a protagonist to emmbrace their gift and fucking utilize it; like Yuki did at first. I suppose we should give him probs for at least trying to enjoy it.

  4. Foshizzel says:

Woooo this episode at last! I was excited to see these characters finally arrive, I know it was one of the more freaky ones lolol…

best moment! When Ouji Kousaka arrived, because of his amazing Sakamoto voice from Nichijou! <3 I kept waiting for Hakase to arrive and mess with them hahaha.

Oh and nice random fanservice in this series? LOL What? And that chicks outfit...ya wear a longer shirt >.>

    • Hime says:

Haha this episode seemed to have a good balance of fanservice, actually xD

  5. amado says:

your so far one of the few bloggers who liked this better this ep. probably cause of the yaoi vibes…

anyways, we are nearing the arc that might will make fans start to hate yuno.

    • Hime says:

Definately because of the yaoi vibes.

And, whuuuuut? How could anyone hate Yuno? I suppose if she spoils any potential yaoi moments I may get pissed…

      • amado says:

well lets just say that even I was repulsed of it… and im a very easy accepting person.

  6. Bob from Accounting says:

    ALL OF THE HOMO!

Kaworu turning up in this episode was epic. This series looks set to bring us the most epic love triangle in the history of ever.

  7. Kitty says:

Omg read spoilers about Akise… and I think I’m going to enjoy this new character. I will say no more XD
