No.6 – 07

You want a kiss, huh? How about I kiss you WITH MY FIST?!

Hello there, readers. How are you? Did you have a rough day at school or work? Well come right in and relax, I know you’re just here to see “that scene” immortalized in the form of screencaps. I KNOW YOUR MOTIVES, AND I KNOW THEM WELL. You know about “that scene”  in this episode, and so you wound up here. If you don’t know what I’m talking about by “that scene,” you will by the end of the post. Trust me, you won’t miss it.

Shion is doing his usual dog-washing job with enthusiasm, which secretly warms the dark recesses of  Inukashi’s heart. Not that she’d ever admit it. She leaves Shion to finish the job and stumbles upon Nezumi, who has made himself right at home in her room. He promises to give her 2 gold pieces if she takes on a job for him, but she refuses. Apparently, that’s a large sum of money over there, and it’s suspicious for an ingrate such as Nezumi to offer more than a few scraps for a normal job.

Ever the crafty one, Nezumi threatens to let her die all alone without helping her if she refuses the mission. She fears death the most, so she reluctantly gives in. Nezumi throws a wad of money at her and tells her to find updated information on the correctional facility’s floor plan and surveillance system. He knows she has that janitor there smuggling goods around, so might as well make use of it. She senses Nezumi’s impatience and asks if Shion knows. He snaps at her and leaves, which pretty much answers THAT question.

I want a mouse to watch anime on

Back in No.6, Karan starts to feel uneasy when they can’t find Safu’s ID number in the official database. She sits down in a park and sulks, which attracts a kindly old lady to talk to her. The same one who talked to Safu before, if I am correct. She asks Karan what’s wrong, and she almost admits that she’s having doubts about No.6. Almost. Youming steps in and drags her off, scolding her for revealing her feelings so easily. One wrong word, and the government will come gunning for you. He’s been investigating the evils of No.6, and wants to do something about it.

Speaking of being taken away by the government, Safu is currently being used as a sample. In fact, she’s the “perfect sample” and will be used in place of all the other grade B samples lying around. She’s stuck in a huge tank and since she doesn’t need her clothes any more, the janitor smuggled them back to a clothing store in their crumbling little city. Shion finds it while clothes shopping with Mr. Clean-would-be-envious-of-how-shiny-my-forehead-is man and freaks out.

This coat is…this coat is…FABULOUUS!!! I MUST HAVE IT!!

On his way back home, Nezumi comes across Inukashi. She tells him that Shion knows that Safu is at the correctional facility because he was getting riled up over a coat that was recently smuggled in. Nezumi still refuses to tell his plans to Shion and makes no outward confirmation that he will try to stop him. Inukashi yells at him to protect Shion, because he’s the type who will run out to No.6 without so much as a word the very next morning.

When Nezumi returns home, Shion seems his usual, chipper self. He even used some of his money from his job to prepare a special dinner. Nezumi notices that it must be a farewell dinner, and starts to ask him questions about what he’ll do when he reunites with Safu and his mom. Shion admits he’d be happy, but then goes on to thank Nezumi for making him the person he is today. Without hesitation, Shion leans in and kisses him on the lips. Nezumi senses that it’s not a kiss of gratitude, but one of goodbye. Shion lies and says it’s a goodnight kiss before walking away as if he suddenly found something else he needed to do.

The next morning, Shion leaves for No.6 without a word. However, Nezumi stops him and punches him in the jaw. He yells at Shion for lying and then tells Shion to wait a bit longer. He’s been pulling every string possible to make the rescue go off without a hitch – it just needs time. Despite this good news, Shion punches Nezumi as well for lying. Nezum may have done it for Shion’s sake since he’s a bit of an idiot, but he doesn’t want to be babied all the time.

Nezumi snarls back at Shion, saying that he has never looked down on Shion. He saved his life and taught him that people can be kind to one another. He’s always thought of him as equal, despite what Shion thought all this time. The two of them make up, agree to work together, and stare lovingly into each other’s eyes as the sun rises. Before the episode ends, Nezumi drags Shion off to “show him something.” Oh, I bet he shows him something alright.

Bonus Screenshots:

Shion, less “goodbye” kisses and more “I’m about to slam you onto that bed” kisses from now on.

Wow, they even have a pool! This correctional facility isn’t so bad!

Shion, really? You use cherry chapstick? I’m gonna be tasting that sissy stuff all evening…

Metanorn: lurkers welcome, no matter how creepy you are.

End Thoughts: THANK GOD, THEY KISSED! I am using the strength of a thousand burning suns not to just write 4 capslock paragraphs about how giddy that scene made me. How often does a show with BL hints (not straight-up yaoi) actually deliver? It’s always the case that shows get peppered with BL hinting without any actual, solid relationship. They want to bait the fujoshi, but not commit to any one thing so as to not scare away any potential male viewers. But that wavering can get annoying, and often gets in the way of the story. I’m glad they had the guts to follow through an animate that kiss. It was a quick peck, it fell in line with the story, and it was tasteful – so why not? It doubled as Shion honestly showing his feelings while also serving as a distraction for Nezumi to cover up his lies. Without a doubt this show is super gay, but it’s a bit different in that it’s not a show ABOUT a gay couple…but a show about a dystopian society where the main duo just HAPPEN to be gay. It’s just part of who they are.

Inevitable discussion about homolust aside, uh, stuff happened! Good stuff! Interesting stuff! While I may have jumped the gun on Safu being rescued right away in this very episode, she won’t be in there for long. I thought Nezumi and Shion would have a huge fight and Shion would be left floundering by himself on a hopeless rescue mission, but they came to an understanding very quickly. I hate seeing the two of them get into serious fights though, so it’s better for them to kiss and make up. My heart can’t take couples quarreling both here AND in Tiger & Bunny. Anyways, I’m guessing they’ll start uncovering some shocking news about No.6 on their little rescue mission. Safu being used as a sample is already creepy enough. It’s now confirmed that the government does freaky experiments on everyone in the facility. I don’t know why she’s the perfect sample, but maybe it has to do with her link to Nezumi and the wind. Let’s hope they don’t get their hands on Nezumi…he’s probably prime sample property as well. Man, I can’t wait for them to bust in there and break out Safu.

As interesting as Nezumi and Shion are, Inukashi has caught my eye. While Inukashi seems like that extra character that kind of just meddles every now and then, she’s actually more important than that. We all know Nezumi has a soft spot for Shion, but that doesn’t become as big of a deal without a contrast. He treats Inukashi, a valuable business partner who provides him with information, like dirt. He would only help her in exchange for money, otherwise, her death means nothing to him. Nezumi has a decent poker face, but I don’t think he’s exaggerating. Sure, he’ll do some nice favour for some scruffy kids every now and then, but when it comes down to it, he refuses to get close to anyone. While everyone treats her like garbage, Shion is the only one who is nice to her because…well..he’s nice to everything that breathes and moves around. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Inukashi is slowly falling for Shion kekekeke~ Afterall, she did go out of her way to preach to Nezumi about the best way to protect him. It’s more likely she just cares for him though. You would too if every other person you met was rude, vicious or a combination of the two.

Preview: Either as a result of what Nezumi wanted to show Shion or as a result of a failed attempt to sneak into No.6, the two of them get captured in an underground cave. They are brought before a leader and..well..who knows what happens. Back in No.6, Karan and Youming are either plotting against No.6 or trying to have sex with each other. Maybe a healthy mix of both. Who knows?

Now I just need Kotetsu to bring Barnaby’s memories back with a kiss and my life will be complete~ 😀
If they manage to save Safu, she is going to be soooo disappointed. “Um…remember how I told you I’d give you my sperm in two years? Yeeeeeah, about that…..”
I can’t wait to see what they do though. XD I hope sperm girl doesn’t end up being brainwashed into being their enemy.

    • Overcooled says:

      THIS…THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

Safu will be pretty put out, heh. Poor girl can’t compete with Nezumi XD I hope she isn’t brainwashed either, I don’t want them to go all that way just for her to get them captured.

  2. Kyokai says:

DAT KISSSSSSSSSSS. I already fangirled on tumblr so I won’t be bleeding on here about that but man, an honest delivery is what I wanted and woooo, me gusta.

I’m still looking for some explanation about the connection between Safu and Nezumi because supposedly these two are the only ones who KO’d with that eerie song playing before. That supernatural angle is still to be looked into. Also, I applaud Shion in standing up to Nezumi, yeahhh! I can’t wait for the next episode. >3<

    • Overcooled says:

      YES, I KNOW, AHHHHH. <3

I want to know how they're connected as well. It's such an unlikely duo, there's definitely something up. Can't wait for more of that BL/sci-fi mix next week~

  3. 2PacFan says:

Funy, I never thought they would take it as far as actually showing the kiss, but I respect them for it.

I’m not really liking Safu for some reason. I just simply don’t care about what happens to her.

Am I the only one that was pleasantly surprised with the small change in Shion’s personality. Instead of acting like a little pussy when Nezumi punched him, he fought back. He didn’t cry like a little bitch either. I respect him for that >:) I’m glad he didn’t throw a little fit after being told that Safu was gone. It was a relief.

Nezumi is just as awesome as always. I thought he was just going to pretend he never got the message, and pretend there was nothing wrong, but he was actually working on getting information on No. 6 so he could help the bitch. That was epic.

    • Overcooled says:

      Agreed on both accounts.

No, I really appreciated his ability to fight back too. I love seeing him get angry since it happens so rarely. Although, Nezumi may not have deserved to be hit since he was actually just helping Shion. I’m so glad he didn’t let him run off on his own, whew.

  4. Junko says:

I have been fighting people left and right about that kiss. While I’m all for some delicious BL here, and it would be great, a kiss between guys =/= instant gay, omg.

And why complain? This episode was actually really good. You get more development between these two in one episode than you do between the lead tsundere and (wussy) male in any harem! Talk about a good story.

    • Overcooled says:

That is…very true. XD But in this case, it’s pretty safe to say they care about each other deeply enough to call it love.

  5. angotokuraun says:

I’m really tears of joy and happy to seeing that they really kissed! My god I thought it was a trap. anyway I remembered something about crush windpipe with the teeth. LOLZ

This is actually rare for science-fiction anime have some BL’s scene so No. 6 is giving me a such a really good impression. Sion x Nezumi is totally win. I really can’t wait for the next episode happened.

anyway for me, Rikiga and Safu aren’t roled as Important character, really..

    • Overcooled says:

Me too! They did it! Now I don’t have to crush any windpipes XD I totally appreciate the blend of sci-fi and BL as well. No.6 manages to pull it off so well.

I don’t even refer to Rikiga by name in my posts, I don’t care about him either <_<

  6. Foshizzel says:

Not a bad episode! Yeah they did kiss and I can bet most guys probably have already dropped this even before that xD Well I am already seven episodes in so ill keep watching for now.

They did have a cool fight xD

    • Snowley says:

I laughed when Shion punched Nezumi back. Nezumi is always so full of himself and sure Shion will obey if he kicks him around. Serves him right.

    • Overcooled says:

High five for hanging in there, Fosh! Hope you still like it despite all the touching and kissing.

  7. Snowley says:

I loved the kiss scene. It wasn’t romantic, I’d say there was even something mischevious in it. Shion became a trickster? Well, he learns from the best.

I have no bloody idea what No.6 wants to achieve with their experiments, maybe some Uber-Menchen? (Shion is faster and God know what else after being infected by a wasp after all). And what’s with the wind and singing? Fantasy theme?

Aaagh can’t wait till next Friday

    • Kitty says:

Totally with you on -hided comment- I have been thinking about that since the first episode. And this episode for some reason made me worry even more 0.o Seriously. IF that happens, I’ll cry like a little girl XD

      • Overcooled says:

I don’t think that would happen….well, maybe it would happen after they rescue Safu, but not now. Shion’s too defenseless! (I’m probably just thinking wistfully since I don’t want him to die either…T.T)

It might be a failed attempt to make people stronger…but they don’t seem to be trying to get rid of the wasps. In fact, they seem to like using them to kill people off so I don’t think they meant for it to give people special abilities. Shion might be the only survivor to date. As for if killing off the unfaithful ones was what they were really planning, I don’t know. There are too many mysteries right now!

  8. Miyu says:

I’m sorry. All I can remember about the episode is that THEY. FREAKING. KISSED (!!) It’s time to throw confetti WHOOHOO :DDDD (my fujoshi mind is taking over.)

Okay, that aside, I really thought that the kiss was appropriate and sweet. I also love how Shion might be a mindblowing genius in No.6, but is so endearingly innocent and silly with Nezumi. I mean, “goodnight-kiss?” DAWWWWW.

I’m curious as to how Safu might be a “perfect sample”. She doesn’t seem that perfect to me She’s probably somehow closely linked to Nezumi, and both of them are probably two of a kind with some amazing ability of sorts. Though I’m okay with that so as long as it doesn’t get into the way of the BROMANCE ((:

    Oh how I love No.6.

    • Overcooled says:

The kiss was amazing. Shion is pretty sweet and dorky for a so-called genius.

I think so two. Whatever it is that links them must have to do with how they differ from the other “samples.” Gah, please don’t experiment on Nezumi T.T

  9. Alynn says:

Woww they actually kissed! And it was Shion who initiated it!

I was actually surprised that they made up relatively smoothly at the end. I was half expecting Shion to run off and go on his own anyways.

  10. BlackBriar says:

Not bad. I think Shion might have a split personality. He doesn’t think things through like Nezumi. I’ll overlook that kiss even though I’m extremely tempted to drop this. I’m already 7 episodes deep and want to see how the story goes and how it connects with Safu because there are only 4 episodes left. Besides, Shion’s mother risks sharing Safu’s current fate now that she’s questioning No. 6’s order.

    • Overcooled says:

If you could survive up until now, you can survive the kiss. There’s a great story to go along with this romance, so hang in there!

  11. Neena says:

    They k-k-k-kiss!woot!
