Yumekui Merry – 11

Isana has a massive dream space!

Welcome back to more Yumekui Merry, hope everyone had a nice break from anime! Or were you rocking yourself back and forth? Anyway, let’s find out how Isana’s dream world turns out in this episode. As for me I am working on some random Squid girl artwork. She is quite fun to draw, I think it’s her tentacle hair I like the most. I might throw Index into that picture too for a few laughs.

Plot this week revolves around Isana for the most part and the others as they prepare to protect her precious dreams from the evil Mistilteinn. While Ryouta sets up a trap for Isana with everyone jumping into her dream world to fight.

So does this mean Ryouta makes out with himself?? After all, it is a dream… muhahaha.

To set the plan to protect Isana into motion, Merry and Yumeji take her to Yui’s dream world to have Engi knock her out. The goal is to meet Isana’s dream demon who turns out to be a tiny scared little thing named Parade. Looks like a cross between a Final Fantasy black mage with Mudkip arms! Yet another cool design. He was forced by Mistilteinn to enter Isana’s dream; of course, since he is extremely weak this works for Ryouta.

Isana- “What the hell? Maybe I am buzzed from all the paint in my room….”

Parade! Cute mudkip demon!

Merry- “SO CUTE, YOU ARE COMING HOME WITH ME!”

Meanwhile back at school, Ryouta sets his plan in motion! Thanks to Isana staying after school to work on her painting. He sneaks up behind her and mentions harvesting her dreams like a total slime ball. Isana then arrives in her own dream world, looks just like her painting and is quite spacious. The others eventually arrive to assist Isana and bump into Mistilteinn.

Ryouta- “Chizuru! Join me and together we can rule the dream world!”

Ryouta watches you paint… very slowly.

Spider Merry! Using her moe super powers to stick to walls.

Run, Isana! Get away from the evil teacher!

Mistilteinn- “Yay! A new friend to play with”                Isana- “I must paint you! Hold that pose”

Merry- “Nooooo, Isana, you said I was your special model…!”

Merry jumps to defend Isana only to get beaten rather fast, poor Merry if only you REMEMBERED how to use your epic powers. Chizuru and Leon also jump into Isana’s dream but sort of stand there debating on helping her or not. Ryouta is the last special guest to arrive stomping on Yumeji’s injured leg. I really wanted a more dramatic reaction from Yumeji! But ah well, at least they didn’t drag the teacher’s secret on forever.

Merry powers up!? LET’S ROCK!

Another lame ass fight! WHY!! –sigh-

Parade is in danger! Dawwww, not the cute demon!

Ryouta- “I am here to kill you, Yumeji!”                    Yumeji- “Oh that’s cool bro, wait WHAT?!”

Before Mistilteinn can strike Parade down, Chizuru has a change of heart and steps in the way to protect Isana. Ah yes the power of friendship! But Mistilteinn gets bored with this fight and takes her leave. Back in the real world, Ryouta tells Yumeji after the tests they will try to take out Isana’s dream again. Well, isn’t he a nice teacher? Grades come before destruction of the student’s hopes and dreams after all.

Chizuru wants to be Isana’s big sister!

Ryouta-“Don’t forget to turn in your tests! Oh, and better go train…”

Extra Dreams!

Merry makes a mental list of a million doughnuts she wants to eat! Peanut butter sounded so bad…

Had to include an extra Isana picture. What’s she learning at school? Damn pervs…

Yumekui Merry season two! ATTACK OF THE COLORS OF DEATH!

Isana- “OH GOD, GONNA HURL, worst ride ever!”

Isana prays to J.C. Staff gods! Please let my dream demon be awesome!

J.C. Staff: Sorry, you got the cute one…

End Thoughts:

This episode wasn’t as exciting as I wanted it to be, but still found it very entertaining. Merry and the others had a decent plan for finally meeting Isana’s demon. I kind of figured she would get a cute type of dream demon; however I did want something a bit more epic! But this works, I know Merry wanted to send the demon away with her powers but was afraid to do so. I did find it nice to see how many people really care about Isana, she is kind of like the little sister to all the characters; at least to me she gives off those feelings.

Chizuru also turned out to be another close friend who wants to protect her; of course we all saw that coming eventually. I wish Leon did something to help! But like he told her, they don’t believe in friends or having emotions. I am still curious about that gun of hers; I mean does she use it on dream demons or possibly the humans? I think that would be an interesting twist.

The downfall of this episode would have to be Merry versus Mistilteinn. That was another poorly animated scene! What is wrong with the fighting animation? Did they just spend the entire budget on Chaser’s first fight? Anyway, I still like this series even for the terrible flaws in artwork. Now that everyone has no more secrets to hide, maybe we can get to the core of this series, but with the way things are going now I am afraid we won’t find out till next season.

Preview!

Are you going to show us how badass you are, Leon?!

Next episode! The battle against Mistilteinn happens again! This time Engi gets in on the action and maybe Leon as well? Let’s hope Merry can get herself back up to speed and use those awesome keys again.

Thanks!

third to the last episode, but it was totally anticlimatic. THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BATTLE SCENE AND PARADE’S A WIMP /CRY

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep agreed all this great build up and we get robbed in the end! Noooooooo!! I was wanting a great battle as well ah well guess there is next week huh?

Parade is a tiny thing haha yes very wimpy xD

this episode made me more annoyed than before. I was fine with an anime original ending but to make it go like this…

they would have saved face if they made john doe show up like what he did in the manga. in the manga, he shows up in time to save merry and yumeji when merry was still upset of killing dream demons enough to fight back.

well the manga is currently showing isana’s nightmare and it is very different. it also showed how much isana trusts yumeji and also how much she supports him when he doubts himself.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah well I think they are really banking on another season of this, with all things from manga it’s tough to stay with most of the story.

Oooh well I am sure things will improve sooner or later! Thanks for the info xD

Well like I said manga to anime they always alter things, it’s just the nature of using source material vs original content. Which I totally understand sucks because it always ends up becoming filler to extend a series. I will read the manga after this finishes up in the next two episodes.

actually merry should have been able to match up against mistiltein. she is probably holding back her strength so that she doesnt kill the teachers dream, and also despairing because she killed nightmares like what amado said.

im really annoyed that mistiltein left them. maybe if she pressed on, john doe would show up like what happened in the manga.

    • Foshizzel says:

I dunno about that I remembered Merry and Mist had their fight and then she discovered it was Yumeji’s teacher, but yeah she probably backed down after learning that.

Well they are quite out numbered hahah and after seeing Merry “fight” or whatever you want to call that, I wasn’t so happy with the buildup and then everything falling flat.

  4. Junko says:

This episode kinda annoyed me. All the changing of places then gearing up to attack and then not, stopping to talk then repeat. A lot of talking went on and interesting things were said but the visuals didn’t seem to match well.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yepp most people felt the same all this epic build up of characters meeting and getting ready to throw down, only to just walk away? VERY WEAK! anyway this is going slow sadly.

It’s a lot like dbz you know people talking for three or four episodes and then giving us a big fight, the visuals during the fight were mehhhhh to me.

I want more badassedary! What is it with this wimpy behaviour anyway? /rage

  6. Ruby says:

    Such a disappointment D:
They been talking about Merry sending the dream demons back since ep 4 then *7 episodes later* and still nothing changed -_-

Mistilteinn hardly did anything to Merry and she couldn’t even stand~ yeah she should have used her key powers!
I can’t wait to find out about Leon, he seems cool c:

    • Foshizzel says:

      Hi Ruby! -wave-

Yeah this episode was a huge let down for me, not much has really gone on lately for Merry no awesome battles and no real drama.

Mist played tag like I said just kind of “played” with her more than fighting! Well Merry has forgotten how to do that, she probably needs Yumeji to get hurt again LOL

Leon looks cool but I don’t think he wants to fight, or help anyone to much of a stand around looking great dream demon.

  7. Yi says:

“Spider Merry! Using her moe super powers to stick to walls.”
Haha! I don’t follow this series, but I do find Merry super cute.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahah yepp Merry is very cute and a fun character! Well until she gets all depressed and emo over things.

  8. amado says:

slightly off topic but I hope they finally do the 3rd season of shana. are the novels finished or is it still going?
they should have just focused on that.

    • Foshizzel says:

A third Shana? Probably they have released like some short episodes, but those so far have been come comical than anything special no real action or cool battles yet.

  9. Dan-go says:

    ISANAS DREAM THINGY IS ADORABLE!!!

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahah yes the black mage creature yes very cute! it shares voice actors for Kormoe from Index the loli teacher.
