IS: Infinite Stratos – 06
Wow! It’s been so long since I’ve actually made my own post. Though, there is a reason for this, you wonderful fans of Metanorn (and perhaps me). You see, just yesterday one of my best friends in the world died a slow and painful death. It was horrible to watch over the period of time, but it in the end, it was better for everyone. Yeah, I’ll miss that computer a lot. But, I got a brand-spanking new laptop, so let the posts roll on! (Just to clear things up, my friend was my computer. Not an actual friend. If my friend died I’d be MIA for a looooong time).
We begin episode 6 out in the arena (that somehow repaired itself…) during an IS practice session. While the other lowly students practice dumb moves, Alcott, Houki and Rin and trying to teach Ichika how to operate an IS properly. Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t’ t know what the hell they’re on about. Luckily, he’s saved by Charles, who wishes to fight with him! As it turns out, Ichika actually gets hammered by Charles, and he explains that he just hasn’t found a way to fight against long rage IS’s. Charles sets up some targets and hands Ichika is rifle for some practice.
Unfortunately for them, our new friend Laura Bodewig turns up in her badass IS and wants to fight Ichika. Her IS pulls some massive plasma cannon from no where and fires at him. Thankfully, Charles steps in and deflects the blow, holding up arms to defend Ichika. Thanks to some teacher intervention, Laura stands down and sulks away. After their training, Charles meets up with Ichika in their changing room, and tries to get out of changing in the vicinity of Ichika. He finds in a little weird and possibly tries to rip clothes of Charles (Note to girls: guys don’t rip clothes off each other in changing rooms. Sorry.) but he screams like a little girl and runs away. Smooth, Ichika.
On his way back to the dorms, Ichika overhears a conversation between Laura and Chifuyu. As we already knew, they have some history together and it seems Chifuyu taught in Germany before coming to IS Academy and Laura was no doubt one of her students. Chifuyu shuts Laura down tells her to go back to her dorms before telling Ichika to come out of hiding. After a brief conversation we learn that Ichika was actually kidnapped as a child during the Mondo Grosso IS Championship. His sister forfeited the last match to save his life and it seems Ichika feels quite useless for not being able to defend himself.
Ichika returns to the dorm and walks in on Charles showering. This would be fine. Except for the fact that Charles has breasts. And no penis. Ichika seems a little shocked at first, and then walks out like nothing happened. And then he freaks out. Yes, dear readers, it’s true. Charles is actually a girl. I bet you didn’t see that coming. Charles’ father is actually the owner of Dunois Corporation, but she is his illegitimate child. After her mother passed away, her father took her in and made her an IS test pilot. Her reason at IS Academy is to steal Ichika’s publicity and gather data on him. Strangely enough, Ichika says he’ll keep quiet about the secret he’s learnt and that Charles is safe from her father at IS Academy because of some weird law. Sweet!
Before they can talk more, Alcott appears from no where and steals Ichika away for dinner. While walking down the hall with Alcott clinging to Ichika, Houki appears from nowhere and demands to know what the eff is up. After explaining the situation Houki decides to get in on the action and they all go off to get some food. Splendid. On his return to his room, he brings food back for Charles. Conveniently, she can’t use chopsticks so she gets Ichika to feed her. While they are enjoying themselves greatly, Laura on the other hand stands in the arena looking badass, swearing revenge on Ichika for bringing Chifuyu to IS Academy. She removes her eye patch to reveal she has some sort of liver condition because her eye is super yellow!
End Thoughts
C’mon, that is soooo a chick. You can just tell! Plus her IS is orange. Dead giveaway.
He’s going to die. You can see it in his eyes. He knows it.
Good LORD ICHIKA. IT’S A DUDE, CONTROL YOURSELF.
Dem pants. Seriously.
And one for the fans. How did she hide these? She’s not exactly flat…
I want everyone reading this to be honest. No one was surprised that Charles was a chick, right? Absolutely no one. I’m sure a few of you were like ‘He’s a MAN because we want some good ol’ YAOI’, but you knew deep down that he had an innie and not an outie. Even though it was a little obvious (and to be honest, I did check it out last episode because it was annoying me) in a way, I kinda wished Charles stayed a dude. I haven’t really seen a harem and then they suddenly throw in a dude to make it awkward. It would’ve been great!
But enough about Charles and more about my new favourite character, Laura Bodewig! Like I’ve said before, she’s just badass. That and her IS looks like something out of Helgan. When she was talking with Chifuyu, after she was turned down she looked kinda sad. So maybe, just maybe, she has a lesbian crush on Chiyufu. I don’t know, I’m just throwing stuff out here. Hell, they almost threw yaoi in there, why not yuri? Also, Laura has awesome pants. So that makes her better than everyone else.
But by talking about the massive shock of Charles being a dude and Laura being the best character in the show, I’m kind of forgetting the big picture. WHERE IS THE STORY. I’m starting to think that after they finish establishing all of the characters and what’s up with them all, the series would’ve ended and a second season would’ve been announced. That’s probably what will happen. Oh Hato, you’re like an anime oracle!

I hope ichika becomes more competent soon. the only good points he has is being lucky in fights. harem leads need more than being a bit nice to people. most harem leads can sense a girls problems and feelings, they might be oblivious to love but they do have a good understanding of women.

So, as it goes on now, I think we will have a couple of more introducing episodes(we didn’t learn anything about Laura, but they might as well leave it as it is) and then we get into the actual storyline. I guess. I hope. But surprisingly, I liked this episode. Probably because Charles is officially my favorite character in this show. I don’t care, if it was painfully obvious that Charles is a chick. I care for my fav. personality type ^3^ Seemingly innocent, but also pretty sly on clueless Ichika. She made him feed her, isn’t that enough to guess what kind of character we’re dealing with? xD No, srsly …. I LOVE Charles!! 3<""

the yellow eye might be like mio’s one from strike witches, can see the IS’ weakness, but than again a lot of other characters have eye patches to hide their power so it might be for other stuff like x-ray, heat vision, etc.

I'm really liking the cute feminine side (her real side) of Charles (so wait… what was her real name? Or is it still Charles? O_O) Anyways, I have to agree that we've been thrown so many TRANSFER students!! And now the plot seems like it doesn't even exist. There's some kind of competition gonna come up soon, is that the main part of this anime then the winner is crown king then everyone cheers and THE END D: I DON'T WANT SOME SHITTY ENDING LIKE THAT!!! And what about the un-manned robot!??! Sure I enjoy seeing Houki all blushy and stuff but we need a story to this anime too! :S
Besides all that, I'm really liking everyones IS suits BESIDES Ichika's which seems kinda…weak… (guess it's just him) I prefer the megane sensei's IS or Charles (and the girl with the "liver infection" quoted by Hato) ;D

Since she’s a girl, her name is Charlotte, but I guess everyone will still call her Charles. The end will probably be horrible as well and that makes me sad.

its rare to find a good tsundere like her nowadays. we usually get tsunderes that easily blush, hit the main character and deny feelings, wherein houki here has actually tried to get ichika.

As of this episode, my favourite pairing is offically IchikaxCharles. Houki and others, GO AWAY! Charles is so sweet and nice, but can do pretty well in a fight too. She is hands down the nicest character in ichika’s harem right now. >.< And it doesn't hurt that she's voiced by Hanazawa Kana too. XD
