Somehow, this picture pretty much says it all. An occasion to celebrate, finally a webspace of our own. Hopefully, better management of traffic and no timeouts with loads more fandom squeeing. *touch wood*
Copying my last post from KK: if you were expecting some big lecture on new beginnings and what not, look elsewhere. I can only say that we are pretty much dedicated in providing you the fun side of anime, manga and everything fun in between (I need more manga contributors, c’mon you lurker, I know you can do it! *stares around intently*), with the right dash of fangirling, fangasms and comprehensive thoughts (just don’t expect us to write long papers on it *grins*).
Anyone who has gone through shifting knows the fact that it’s an effing long process and a lot of crap spills out, which you never thought existed. Moving wordpress is another breed of shitstorm that we got involved in and oh boy, did we pull our hair out and scream in frustration over hosting server time outs and recurring database errors. Let me not bore you with details, but just to give an idea, there were hundreds of emails exchanged between Will and I. Not to mention, many chat sessions in which we talked about possibilities and what not. Very soon though, we realized, re-design is too big a deal and needs lots of to and fro; thus, we settled for a complete move with some adjustments as you can see.
So, that is how we would start off. The KK link would soon be redirecting to the new metanorn as well. I wanted to do this with a bang but seems like, it would have to wait as I have a family emergency due to which I’ll be out of country for two to three weeks. Before my hiatus though, I wanted to complete the migration and all thanks to Will, I was finally able to migrate the many GBs worth of content off to a new domain and hosting server. During my short hiatus, my team would keep you company in continuing to post reviews as usual so hopefully no break of tempo.
New blingy bling:
- ALL NEW BANNERS~ Halloween and Fall themed.
- The compact site category and link trees are back, (saving a lot of space!)
- Introducing the brand new Chatbox; chat to your heart’s content, just respect all opinions and comments. Thanks!
- Also, we have added a tag cloud but you can easily see that due to our MANY tags, you will have to go guruguru mawaru on it.
- You can keep logging your votes for the redesign ideas via Poll. We’ll work slowly in momentum to complete that.
- Also, we know for a fact that on the first page, all comment totals are not tallying with actual. This will go away with new posts being made.
BIG THANKS to Will (who I imagine as Will from Pirates of the Caribbean) of the DDD Cast, who literally appeared as a Knight in Shining Armour to save the day. I can’t tell you how much he has worked and even wrote specific programs to get all ftp files, database dumps and what not. We will always miss and keep Kanzie and Tsui in our hearts for providing such an awesome fandom platform in the form of Metanorn. Even the new site would always be open to them, if they ever chose to return. Not to mention, the awesome 7 of Kokidokom, who hosted Metanorn for more than two years.
BIGGEST THANKS however goes out to all the faithful readers of the site, who have stuck around us through thick and thin (big silences, server crashes, down times, less updates and what not). Thank you for visiting, commenting and encouraging the work we put into Metanorn out of our daily lives. Our only reason in continuing to aniblog is our love for fandom and sharing the overwhelming thoughts with like-minded people. As always, we like to hear what you think and find to our amazement every day that there are more lurkers than commentors here (c’mon you lurker, your comments would actually be loved! Show up and comment more often!).
