In a season full of fan service and uninteresting sequels, here comes this one to the rescue~
OP: “Kimi ni Todoke (きみにとどけ)” by Tanizawa Tomofumi
It honestly reminded me of Spitz with the vocals. And that totally puts up a very dreamy, calm and romantic atmosphere with this show already. And we also get a first glimpse to the art, which is just stunning. I love, love it to bits.
Moving on, let’s meet Sawako Kuronuma, who’s just trying to be friendly with everyone but her dark and creepy look just scared the heck out of everyone, making them run off from her and spread rumors that she can see ghosts, they even gave her a nickname “Sadako”, in reference to the horror movie “The Ring”.
So we have The Ring’s Sadako coming out from a well… But this Sadako is coming out from a toilet? Jk~
But I kinda feel bad for Sawako. She’s trying her best to be friendly but everyone is just afraid of her T___T.
Meet Kazehaya Shouta, ignore tha awkward given name, but this is the guy Sawako looks up to. He’s friendly to everyone, and his personality is just 100% breath of refreshing air.
Sawako wins so much on her side reactions xD. So bright~ which is so opposite to her dark and gloomy aura xD.
Blushing + Chibi = Cuteness overload!!!
Really shallow reason why I made this gif. Probably because this is one of the rare faces Sawako makes. Srs bsns Sawako is win~
BLUSHING KAZEHYA OMG~!!! *AAAAAAAAA* <333 !!!!11111
…And a blushing Sawako to match it up perfectly~ How I love two people blushing together makes an automatic +points for shipping <3
Hell yes it’s heaven~ Look at how everything surrounding them changed to a filed of flowers. This is probably how it feels for Sawako to be right next to this super nice guy who’s probably the only one who calls her by her real name in school~ ^^.
Ayano and Yoshida is talking about Sawako to play the ghost role in a test of courage game. But they didn’t know Sawako hears them talking, so if they want the ghost, here’s the ghost~ Sawako’s will to do it ^^.
LOL they’re so touched.
D’aww~ Sawako is just cuteness with her sneaky chibi mode on~
Oh wait, wrong show ^^;;, this one’s another role but with the same hair style.
And probably the last bit of her scaring the hell out of people ends up scaring Kazehaya lol.
But come on, is Sawako really that scary? She has long silky black hair, porcelain skin and a doll face. She’s actually more hot and seductive than scary tbvh (look @ the pic above). If she’s pure jankness, then that’s scary. But maybe that has just something to do with her gloomy personality that makes a “creepy” aura around her.
It’s more scary if you’ll see someone’s eyes pop out…
Like this. Lolwut Kazehaya xDD. But he’s very cute in here. Surprised (w/ blushing) Kazehaya is moe~~~
I wouldn’t be surprised if Kazehaya would be called the “too-pure-pure-boy” by these two~ But so cute he blushes again xD.
Quality time makes quality shipping~
I hate how this dude on the left pushed around Sawako and treated her like someone so disgusting to hang out with. This guy needs to have his head flushed in a toilet. He’s the one people should keep away from.
Srs Kazehaya is trying to be srs because everyone’s really being mean at Sawako. More reasons to love Kazehaya~!! Defend Sawako <3
Nuuuuu~ Poor Sawako T__T. Don’t cry~ T____________T D’awwwwwwww
OMG there’s someone~ It’s Kazehaya~ kyaaaaa!!!
And he brought along apology candies from the class. So sweet!!!
Kazehaya tells Sawako that she doesn’t understand him. Then after that he wants to see her in the summer break. Kazehaya is just this resident Mr. Nice guy willing to cheer up and be nice to everyone. We still gotta know if there’s a little something extra in Sawako’s case though~
Most especially since Kazehaya seems to always remember Sawako’s smiling face way back then when they first met. He wondered if his feelings would reach her.
ED: “Kataomoi (片想い)” by Chara
I’m probably not born yet in the time of Chara getting it on the music scene, so hearing her voice, I’m so not a fan of it already. But the more I listen to it, the song just grows on me. It’s very dreamy and just sweet. The animation sequence also has very fantastic art. The water color style is just soft eye candy ^^.
Definitely, this show looks the most promising this season already, and it can be the best shoujo in a long while. Seriously. Let’s face it, shoujo anime had been, sucky, well sucky’s not the word, but shitty…. Yeah, shoujo anime lately had been depressingly shitty to be frankly honest (yeah I’m looking at Skip Beat, Itazura and BokuIta). But this one totally gave a very different feel to it. It has a little Honey and Clover feel to it when it comes to the atmosphere and visuals. It looks like a gem already. I’m not overpraising it, I’m just happy to see a gem these days where anime turns out to be all about worthless fanservice lately, this one shines and I hope it’ll continue to.
Ok, going with the voice acting… Noto Mamiko did a great job as Sawako with her signature soft voice. But I can see why some people are debating if she’s fitting or not though, and how Hayami Saori gets in the middle of this, since I can see some preferring her more. But it’s too late to rant, she had been casted. There’s nothing much they can do but to get used to it 😛 As for me, I’m one happy fangirl having Sawako voiced by a very recognizable voice actress such as Noto-san ^^. On Daisuke Namika behind Kazehaya, wow, thank God there’s a little less Fai, Italy and Mikage in here and more… uhm, how can I call this? Less yaoi-baiting-uke-ness? I guess? XD. I really like it. Hope he continues to do well.
The art is stunning, superb, fantastic (I was aiming for three adjectives starting with ‘S’ but I failed XD) and it already wins this season. Seriously, it gave me so much JC Staff feel to it (Honey and Clover, Aoi Hana). The watercolor style art is just very nice to look at. It settles the atmosphere really well and it never fails to catch the dreamy feel of the original manga. The characters were all awesome and lovable. Ayano and Yoshida looks funny, while I need moar Ryuu~<3.
Overall, this is just promising. I hope it’ll be good as an adaptation from the manga. First episode seems pretty solid so far, and I’m quite alright with the pacing. Looking forward for more ^^. (Yep~ I’m blogging it! Duh, this is the show of the season)
