Tonari no 801-chan R: Opening
Haha~!! Yeah, when I said I wouldn’t be posting until Sunday, there’s the Tonari no 801-chan R OP getting released XD. I thought that this one should not be missed (Hello, it’s a shame to be!) and it wouldn’t really eat up much of my time when I blog his one because lol it’s only 90 seconds so it wouldn’t hurt much to blog about it.
Tonari no 801-chan R is based from an internet 4-koma by Ajiko Kojima. The story centers on the relationship between a male otaku named Tibet and his yaoi-obsessed fujoshi girlfriend Yaoi whose obsession manifests itself as a small, green furry monster.
Sypnosis [Wiki]:
Tonari no 801-chan is narrated by Tibet, otherwise known as Tibe-kun, a twenty-eight-year-old company employee and boyfriend to Yaoi, otherwise known as Yaoi-chan. Yaoi, who also works in a company, is a twenty-two-year-old fujoshi, a female otaku who is a fan of anime and manga series featuring yaoi, or romantic relationships between men. Tibet, who is an otaku himself, initially met Yaoi over the Internet. When she obsesses over yaoi, a small green furry monster comes out of a zipper from her back as the manifestation of her obsession.
The OP is done by none other than the epic Yutaka Yamamoto, who’s behind the OP for Lucky Star and Kannagi. Another trivia is, this is supposed to be a KyoAni project as well, but they decided to drop it (it’s their loss! Hmph~!) and now A1 Pictures the one picking it up. TOTAL HOORAY-NESS FOR A1!!! Tonari no 801-chan doesn’t have that epic sing-and-dance number unlike the previous ones Yamakan made, but it still shows a very adorable opening. Ok, now where’s the official anime series/OVA/ONA release date? Need that NAO, kthnx.

But it’s pretty awesome though, it really has A1 written all over it. The art reminds me of Kannagi. 801-chan (that’s the green mascot, right?) is sooo cute!!

Just as well that it’s A1 pictures anyway. Pretty much equal anime from both studios these days and A1 pictures doesn’t have a pile of anime that everyone wants them to get to.
As for the opening…oh my god it made up my mind for me! Definitely going to have to watch this. I was on the fence (for no good reason at all). But watching adorable monsters popping out of girls just made me jump off the fence screaming, “YES!!!” lol

I’m like such a huge Yutaka Yamamoto fangirl, and the Tonari no 801-chan dvd was so funny~! The whole time I was watching it, I was like “this would be so great it it were an anime” x_x
I love the opening too. Not too fond of the song, but I’m sure it’ll grow on me. -^_^-
