EVE no Jikan: Act 01 – The right to judge

I’m hearing about this new show on the anime blogosphere a couple of days ago and now I join the fun and I totally didn’t regret wasting 15 minutes of my life because this is truly, HIGHLY recommendable. I’m also glad that I got a high-quality video thanks to Pireze that I could enjoy more of its stunning animation..

Are they the same?

Probably not.

In the distant future, we already have androids. They are in form of a human being except that they have a glowing ring on their heads and they have no heart at all. They are ready to obey what order you would command. Whether if you want a glass of coffee or breakfast, they are there to make it for you and make your everyday life easier. This is the world Rikou lives.

Rikou’s family has an android housekeeper. Lately she’s been acting weird. Rikou tries to find out what is up with her so along with his classmate, Masaki, they try to follow her. They end up in a cafe, where everything appears to be normal until they saw the rule…

“In this shop, there’s no discrimination against humans and robots”.

After reading that, they are now in deep thought on who are the real humans there or which one’s are the androids since the rings on the head of the androids are not visible inside the cafe. They met Akiko, a quite cheerful and lively girl who talks a lot who shares them her thoughts about humans and androids. She says that she wants to know more of the world that’s why she’s on that cafe. After hearing her talk, Rikuo had just been left more puzzled on who are the ‘real’ humans inside that place.

The next day at school, Rikou and Masaki witnessed more of how people treat androids very indifferently and they somehow brought back again the topis of Akiko, which speaking of the devil, passed by in a very cold manner…

…and with a ring on her head. Rikou had a “O_O” face which expresses a mix of shock and sadness, seeing how Akiko’s master treats her roughly. Rikuo’s android then picked him up from school. At home, she told Rikuo that she bought a new coffee because he might like it but Rikuo get mad. He then realized what Akiko said to him earlier that humans can be alike to androids…

…And then Rikuo’s sister aid that he’s acting like a Dori-Kei.

“No matter how much I identify with them, our insides are totally different.

We may look alike but we’re totally different.

I want to understand more.

Because we’re family after all.”

Impressions:

Wow. I can’t say much anymore about this show other than it’s infatuating and it gave me ‘the chillz’. The theme is like any other common theme on anime, robots. But in this case, it is delivered politically and I immediately fell in love with after watching this. I have never seen the trailer so I hope no idea about this show at first. I was thinking that this would be a horror show due to its unlikely cinematography which I found really stunning. The digital painting on the backgrounds gave a more complementary feel and mood for the situation. Seiyuu speaking, they have a strong cast of Jun Fukuyama, Rei Tanaka and Rina Satou but I really don’t care if I don’t know who’s behind which because all of them actually delivered great. The story alone in this episode is shocking yet moving where in the last part… I was like, “O… my… gawd…” and I ended up craving for more of this fine gem. HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE.

There’s just so much to be drawn from this show that its fantastic. Though I kinda saw the Akiko twist coming, the impact was still there.
