Well, what guy wouldn’t follow a cute bunny girl?
It was a good lesson for Akko to see that Shinny Chariot was not always Shinny Chariot–she had to work hard to become good at magic. And Akko has learned the lesson, at least for now. We see her studying hard and she can do magic–she just can’t control it yet. So we’re seeing her embark on a character arc where by the end of the series she should finally be competent at magic, at least some of the time. And it will be a competency she’s earned through hard work, not by being born to it or through some anime power-up sequence.
We also get a hint of a deeper plot and threat to Luna Nova in the background.
I so wanted to see what Sucy did for one of her tests.

Agreed! Well I prefer just ears not the whole nose and other parts cause then were dipping into furry territory and i’m not a fan of that…
Yeah i’m happy that Akko is kinda taking her magic studies a bit more serious in these batch of episodes! I also love the fact that Shiny Chariot wasn’t a pro witch at Akko’s age. It shows a lot about her character and at the same time reveals all the hard work to get better at magic.
Hopefully! I think the “story” will hit in the 2nd half ie episode 12+ and it will revolve around the idea of magic dying or deeper plots on tech vs magic? I don’t think were gonna get a “war” as we saw in the second half of Kill la Kill, but this is Trigger and they tend to do CRAZY things so who knows.

Sure.
Nawww with episode 8 it clearly shows me that Trigger really has no idea what to do with Sucy which is a shame since she is an interesting and unique character! I felt her “solo” episode wasn’t that great and could have easily been a 15 min short OVA instead of a full episode…

Sucy’s boring. I think you guys think she’s interesting mainly because Trigger has done a good job leaving her a bit mysterious. Put the spotlight on her, and all that imagined depth is just a mere shadow.
I was hoping that Akko would have even more of a turnaround after seeing the issue with the Fount, but it takes time for that stuff to settle in, I guess. And she was definitely a lot more responsible trying to help Sucy, who gets no sympathy for me, neither for thinking that she should try her potion on Akko, or for deciding against it because she didn’t want Akko to be more successful than her.

Sucy has a lot of potential as a character that can take charge and consider mistakes for good or for bad. Her solo episode was a let down, AFAIAC, as they just showed her messed up and silly rather than the controlled chaos she could be.

Yeah I feel Sucy’s solo episode was a giant waste! Trigger could have flushed out her character a bit more to idk maybe explain her love of mushrooms and potions? Maybe talk about her childhood some, but nope they rather have her become the gag character I guess?

Yeah I can agree to that Sucy is popular because of her being mysterious and Trigger making her just “weird” sorta like Mako of Kill la Kill? Shes kinda in the same boat.
Akko is kinda moving in the right direction as far as her studies go I think? I mean she is quickly realizing that there aren’t any shortcuts to becoming a pro witch.
