Dimension W – 06

Spooky Island Adventure soon!

winter15-foshThis week we start a new arc! Well I guess it’s kind of a new arc since were getting introduced to some new characters? We also got more hints about Kyouma’s past which is always great.

New Faces

dimW (1)

Lots of new faces this week.

Like I said at the start we need a few new characters this week namely Prince Salva-Enna-Tibesti aka the “wind of Africa” who is also the number one robot maker Islero along with his body guard Lasithi and finally Prince Lwai who spends most of this episode exploring Japan with Kyouma or more like forces himself to stick to Kyouma after nearly getting killed? Yeah with him being another prince I’m sure anyone would be after him! Before Kyouma runs into Lwai he was visiting the Azumaya family grave with him saying the name Miyabi? I can only assume that is the name of the person he lost in the past five years ago? We do see some flashbacks of this person, but we probably won’t get the full story until episode seven which hinted at a flashback with Miyabi. Speaking of new faces we also meet three new girls named Hirose, Ayukawa and Tsubaki who run a Kimono shop! Also Tsubaki appears to be somewhat close to Kyouma than the other two girls, but she does refer to herself as his big sister even though they are the same age? Maybe she knows the Azumaya family or is related to Miyabi? Either way we have to wait.

Why was Mira created?

dimW (7)

I always like seeing Mira with a smile <3

Mira on the other hand doesn’t get much screen time this week besides Koorogi and Marie trying to figure out what she was created for and the added mystery surrounding her tail? What purpose does it serve and why does she have a tail in the first place? I still think her tail is a tool that allows her to download data from the numbered coils like schematics or the “powers” it has locked inside and we did see her plug into the coil last week, but as far as downloading data from coils or other devices what else could her tail actually be used for? I assume hacking into things? Sorta like R2D2 in Star Wars whenever they needed doors opened or needed access to something he could plug into a nearby port to access whatever they needed and also with Prince Salva-Enna Tibesti being called the number one robot creator in the world I’m sure if he got his hands on Mira I bet he could figure out why she was created and why she has a tail.

The rest

dimW (9)

Who is this girl from Kyouma’s past?!

While we are on the subject of robots did anyone else automatically figure out that Prince Lwai was actually robot the whole time? Oh and I also think his body guard Lasithi is also a robot! That first scene in the limo kinda hinted at that when Prince Salva said one phrase she reacted like he had some control over her so yeah I think we all kind of guessed that, but we had plenty of clues provided by Kyouma who saw Lwai’s foot print left in the street along with his crazy strength at the festival and his curiosity about the world around him sorta like Mira? Although I will say Lwai is probably more child like than Mira. And judging by Lwai’s looks he really doesn’t appear all that threatening on the outside and he could totally pass off as a girl! Damn robot traps, but anyway I guess he was built as a fighter or an assassin because they showed us what he was able to do against Marie’s bodyguard! So I wonder is this the arc where Mira learns how to fight or does she already know how to fight? I mean clearly we saw her smash that block of ice last week with no problems; however we know Kyouma probably can’t go toe to toe against Lwai so it will probably be Mira? Prince Salva did mention something about a race to Easter island aka the island of ruin which we’ve seen flashes of through Kyouma’s nightmares so I can’t imagine it will be easy for him to participate in this odd race.

End Thoughts

header-winter15-fosh

Well damn this was another fantastic episode! I guess were getting into more robots with this arc since we’ve got Lwai jumping into things and I’m still throwing Lasithi in as being another robot, but I forgot Loser and Elizabeth where hunting for numbered coils in the Arctic? Oh and Elizabeth had black hair this week? Maybe she’s a robot too or a fan of disguises? Anyway I was more interested in Prince Salva and his “race” hes planning! Why that island? What is hidden away on Easter Island? I think it’s obviously a rare and super powerful numbered coil that took the lives of Loser’s wife and his face along with whoever this Miyabi girl is that Kyouma lost five years ago. I’m excited to learn more about her next week! I’m very excited to see how they met and who knows maybe we will see a different side of Kyouma?

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

Already panning out to be quite the interesting arc. Based on the minutes, speculation is Kyouma’s hate of coils revolves around him losing someone close. My guess is the girl whose grave he visited got caught up in the accident during his last mission as a Grendel member.

Of the new characters, one is quick to raise my ire. As in Prince Salva-Enna-Tibesti. I really need to remember that when it comes to royalty, half of the time they’re filled with douchebags because of their privileged upbringing. Can’t say much about Lasithi who just strikes me as a servant personally broken in, will and possibly body by the prince, especially seeing her react in a somewhat aroused manner from whatever he said/did to her in the limousine.

The only cool one among the three is the prince Lwai who acts like a giddy kid in a candy store. The naïveté of his preconceptions of Japan was hilarious and shows this could be his first time being in a country other than his own and until now has lived a totally sheltered life. Pretty likable and upbeat but a little careless which is why it made a shock finding out his body is artificial when you’d look at him and never suspect. Kyouma said he had an artificial body, not that he was a robot like Mira. So I’m guessing Lwai was human and suffered an accident so severe his body couldn’t be saved.

As for Mira’s self-exploration, it’s farfetched but my theory is something dormant inside will wake up when she finds the source of illegal coils and give her directions. Plus we may already have a clue on her tail. She handled and disabled the numbers coil in the last arc which was an item that predated her.

Yeah the grave Kyouma visited is probably the girl we saw at the end asking for help.

Prince Salva is interesting! As for him being a spoiled guy I don’t really get that vibe, but he did say he wasn’t into all the cheering fans because he knows they just want to use him and he’s probably right! Also given that he is known as a famous robot builder I assumed he would surround himself with robots? So yeah I dunno if Lashithi really is one and his voice command could just be a device she wears that he has full control over…yeah….

Prince Lwai was easily the best new character! I liked his curious personality even though some probably saw him being more annoying, but I sorta forgot that Kyouma said artificial body and not a full robot? Then again robots, androids and cyborgs all fall into the same group to me.

So basically you think the various numbered coils and illegal coils contain things like memories? Hidden messages or are creating some map in her head? Honestly I could see a map leading her and Kyouma to her father or to some dangerous or “good” coil! That would make for a cool story and somehow I think that is related to the ED which clearly shows a different version of Mira right down to the outfit she wears.

This one felt really unbalanced; just about as unbalanced as the dumbass bike the Islero group was riding around on, honestly what reason do you make a bike like that? It’s designed to look “cool” I guess? It’s too bad it doesn’t stop there as that flying thing that picked up Lwei near the end of the show was even more dumbass looking….

I don’t have a great deal of confidence in Prince Breaking Wind bringing much to the show as he looks and acts just like a mid cour anti-protagonist that we’ve seen a billion times before, “I’ll just leave these hurdles here for the protagonist to jump over, it’s nothing personal”

I liked it much better last arc where it felt like they had something interesting to say with the coils, instead of the Hot Pocket-like microwaved below par politics this one seems to want to stew in.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ever seen the anime rideback? It’s almost the same design from that series lol

Well every series is guilty of throwing us a random new character to progress the plot and these new royal characters are here to do just that and it’s the only way I could see Kyouma ever setting foot on that island unless Marie gave him some random mission? So yeah I have no problems with these new set of characters.

Well some might hate if every week was a 2 part arc! I know it got really freaking old with Heavy Object’s 3 part arcs.

      • skylion says:

OMG, Rideback, I think I totally forgot that, and now you’ve had to come along and remind me…

I had a good impression myself that they could pull off two story arcs and keep a solid line running through all of them, maybe they still are. I’ll still tune in next time…

  4. HannoX says:

Didn’t they say that Tsubaki is Miyabi’s sister? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think the girl from Kyouma’s past is a young Miyabi when he first met her. And that would help to explain why he’s so cold towards Mira. She reminds him too much of Miyabi and the circumstances of his meeting with each are broadly similar and that brings back too much pain.

    • Foshizzel says:

Actually I don’t think it was mentioned at all? I don’t think they even gave out Tsubaki’s last name so we have no idea if she is related to this Miyabi girl.

Well yeah that is what they are hinting towards by revealing that ending, but I’m gonna guess he has a hard time dealing with younger girls? Kyouma is quite old looking not that it’s a bad thing! and Irene said some are saying hes in his 60’s which is a bit crazy! If so he was 55? Because he said it’s been five years since she died.

That said IMO Kyouma looks to be about mid 20’s or 30’s to me but i find age of any character rarely plays a factor, but for Dimension W I guess it plays into a timeline of events? Whatever the case I really don’t care if hes 60+ and besides older dudes in anime tend to be really strong anyway! At least I’ve learned that from shounen anime like Bleach, Hunter x hunter and Naruto.

Interesting episode. We have these new guys from Africa (who happen to look like the most anime-ified Africans I’ve seen in anime in awhile)

I liked Loo a lot, he was pretty cute, though it wasn’t hard to figure out he’s a robot, he seems to be pretty similar to Mira. That Prince seems to surround himself with them. He acted pretty much like a very, very stereotyped version of a tourist in Japan. His line about it being just like his home in Africa made me laugh at the irony. However, with this challenge going about, and the fact that the older prince doesn’t seem to be on the up and up, something bad is going to happen to Loo.

Yet, I also find Kyouma’s treatment of Loo, even though he knows that he’s an android, to be kinder than that of Mira. So, why is he so hard on Mira?

It also looks like we’re going to finally get some background of Kyouma too and what happened on Easter Island.

    • skylion says:

…it’s the As Seen on TV version of some form of Africa, the one where they’re sure it has tigers, shoved into the Anime Land lens.

    • BlackBriar says:

The thing is Kyouma said Loo had an artificial body, not that he was a robot, otherwise he’d have used the word point blank or some indication like “piece of junk”. So I’m guessing he was originally human. Think about it, he might be more cyberized than Loser is. When Kyouma found out what Mira was, he instantly called her a robot and if Loo is indeed a former human as I believe, Kyouma’s treatment might be his way of acknowledging him psychologically regardless of what he is physically.

    • Foshizzel says:

Lol yeah anime typically loves to mess with that don’t they?

Loo was fun I liked how he was similar to Mira in certain ways, but at the same time he was somewhat different! Like how he was curious about everything.

I’m gonna guess since Loo is a boy? That is really the only thing I can come up with as to why he treated Loo differently than Mira? I’ll bet whenever we meet this Miyabi girl next week we see how he treated her back in the day? I wonder if Mira reminds him of the girl he lost five years ago and he pushes her around and calls her names so he doesn’t get attached to her?

      Yeah I can’t wait!

  7. sonicsenryaku says:

so can we all agree now that ellie is a girl? 🙂
