Surprise surprise Basara’s dad appears this week and just in time because everyone is in dire need of some serious training which seemed to be the main focus of the entire episode! Gotta get stronger before the main baddies show up, but at the same time the enemy side is also planning their next big attack. I just wonder will we even get to that? I did remember that Basara and everyone else decided to return to the human world so I have no idea! I fully expect to see two or three goofy ecchi episodes followed by two serious fighting themed episodes or maybe we will just straight up ecchi fun until the season wraps up? I don’t care either way. Besides that question we did learn some things about Basara’s trauma regarding his amazing powers and the fate of his village from his childhood or did we already know that he has some hidden power? I fully expected from the beginning that he was a half demon half god hybrid due to Basara’s dad who mentioned his mother or maybe he is something completely different that we haven’t seen before? Personally I hope he isn’t a damn overpowered dragon that took human form because that would be such a lame attempt at being High School DxD or is he actually Mio’s biological brother? Sure why not? This anime will do whatever the hell it wants to make it work.

Meifon-“FK YA I GOT MONEY BITCHES!”
Wow this was easily the best damn episode ever! I guess it helps that Meifon is such an interesting character especially when she is compared to Mamori and Mirei? Yeah I would rather spend an entire episode following Meifon any day instead of the lead characters, but anyway the episode followed her story and showed us how she “obtains” all her “goods” with the help of two other girls named Hyouko Yundo who is in charge of security and Futaba Kirii who is castle management and with the three of them working as a team it seems to always work out? Maybe they really are super sneaky or maybe nobody cares all that much, but honestly the security on the island is terrible! Sadly all those good times between these three “friends” must come to end which naturally means they gotta double cross Meifon for the hell of it! Also at the same time Huouko and Futaba helped Charlotte cheat in the local beauty pageant? While I didn’t care all to much for that side plot, it was kind of funny watching Mamori, Meifon and Kazami imagine Mirei cosplaying in those different outfits! Which one did you like? I liked the nurse and china dress choices. Besides that it was really cool to learn that Meifon is sorta special just like Lady J? Since Meifon doesn’t have a living breathing partner I guess her love of money is used as the liberator and her arm is basically a suit armor instead of a weapon like a blade or a gun? That reminds me of Kanade Sakurada from Joukamachi no Dandelion who also used the power of money! So I guess you can also use inanimate objects to activate a transformation? I did laugh when Meifon’s armor made her appear to have bigger boobs, but nope they were fake the entire time! Nice try Meifon; however what she lacks in the breast department she totally makes it up with her crazy personality and I like that about her and that cowgirl outfit isn’t half bad either.
Charlotte is so lazy when it comes to bath time.

Well, as I type this it’s a chilly and wet November day, and I could use the warmth of an onsen episode. But after watching, I still think I need it….
The Trouble with Sub-texting….
Duel Wielding Excaliburs!
So to start off on the right note, we go into one of the most famous scenes from the manga. Surely, Mr. Feynman, you jest? Hardly, and the name is Mr. skylion. All kidding aside, this was the King Arthur scene brought to light in not-so-glorious animation, as Silver Link scheduled this on for the low-budget episode. Plenty of goofy face faults and off models to go around, so much it was a distraction. But all of that aside, it did manage to capture just the right amount of charm for both Karen and Kimito; especially his silly “even if the world turned against me” declaration, along with her extreme reaction to the compliment.
How does one even text like this?
But the yield of this episode was given over to how far out of her own self-exile Aika has yet to emerge. Sure she’s got an emerging circle of new friends, but there are things that can hold her back. She still need Reiko to act as her forebrain, for the most part. It isn’t just checking her texts, it’s checking her attitude. As the center of attention, Reiko already knows how even the slightest of misunderstandings can be blown-up out of proportion; as we saw in a previous episode. But there’s also the unspoken value of novelty in a rich person’s daily life. She’s much like the fascination they have with Kimito; curious because it doesn’t quite fit in. This is pretty apt since the entirety of Shominland itself is a curiosity put-on.
I loved the little squeaky sounds she made giving him CPR…
Which is not to say that Aika isn’t without something developing in another direction. The chance encounter in the outdoor bath gave her just he the thing she wanted to be the center of attention. I love how quickly she went from having it be a source of embarrassment to a source of pride; all for the claim of being his girlfriend. This ended up making Reiko rather envious and angry in the long run, both in terms of Aika’s “clear it up for me, oh don’t bother” about face, and in the attempt at securing something Reiko is hot for herself. None of that will end up in the win pile for either one of them in the long run. Oh, and Karen isn’t happy either….
You didn’t know there was a before scene….
Finally we have one more addition to add to the harem. Kojou’s full story isn’t spelled out as of yet. But I think we have enough to work with. She’s from a wealthy family herself, she has an advantage as Kimito’s maid, and she is the principle proponent of the “homo muscle guy myth”. Looks like she’s working her own agenda to be the part of the OTP.

Well, it could have been worse, I guess. Not much to say as it looks like a bridge from the previous material to the next batch of same. They’ve gone further off the page than I thought they would, but that could mean that they might go for an “ending” by the conclusion of the series, we’ll have to see….

Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst – 06: Let’s all take time to note it is hazardous for one’s health to be around succubi that can forcibly drop you in a state of ecstasy at a moment’s notice.
Yeah, pretty much a training run but a sexy one halfway through thanks to the girls. Mio has it rough, though. Because unlike the others, she’s never been in actual combat and therefore doesn’t know the feel, so it’s her body taking the most strain.
Jin is so laid back even when admitting there’s someone out there stronger than him like Leohart. It’s become such a usual part of his character that it would feel weird if we ever had to see him distraught or breaking a sweat.
Since this was all about training, I hope we’ll be getting reveals next time. Particularly on how Basara, a single person, can have two mothers. This is mystical territory, so I’m ruling out surrogacy from the get-go.

Valkyrie had me worried there for a bit. It went over 10 minutes before a nude scene. I was thinking it had forgotten what kind of show it is!
Meifon is a great character. She’s certainly more interesting than the two leads.
I got the idea that Hyouko and Futaba double-crossed Meifon because in their conversation with Charlotte she hinted she knew of their involvement in goods being stolen from the castle, but she was going to overlook it if they rigged it so she’d win the beauty contest. So they figured it was time to stop (which they were right about) and they decided to take out their “partner” who was going to push it too far. Maybe if Meifon had agreed to stop they wouldn’t have double-crossed her, or maybe they planned on that all along.
Given the nature of this show I was a little surprised the beauty contest wasn’t held in skimpy bikinis or even naked. Of course, a good costume can enhance a person’s appeal (clothes make the man or woman) and the show decided to go that way with some cosplay fanservice. Which does make sense.

Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid – 06 [NSFW]: If money is indeed the root of all evil then Mei Fon’s operation was a hive of scum and villainy by default. Still, such a promising, fruitful underground operation ruined by self-preservation and selfishness. Wait… What am I saying?
Than beauty pageant was far more tame than I imagined compared to the fierce fanservice this show is becoming known for. I’d go with Mirei’s China dress but her white dress in the contest wasn’t bad either. However, I knew that somehow it would’ve been rigged with Charlotte knowingly or unknowingly involved.
Still, Mei Fon was the focus. It left me face palming in positive manner at what she needed to transform. So money gets her off. The girl is indeed a hustler. Her love of money knows no bounds.
Yeah, but the subtitles filling in for the kanji says “Foreclosure”. I’d like to know what that means.
