That was a weird episode. Interesting combination with rocker bands on one side and geisha girls in the other. And they think of the stones as being jinxed.

I did like the “scientific” approach to how they they tried to explain how the stones worked. However, it didn’t answer all questions.

The president is concerned for her daughter and wants her back, and Chiaya doesn’t seem to be interested in the stones anymore. What’s with the stones randomly falling from the sky anyway?

My newest theory is that Chiaya and her mom are aliens and that this whole stone thing is a result of an accident that happened when her mom crash landed on Earth (thanks skylion 😛 ).

      You’re very welcome 🙂

I don’t know if the “scientific” approach will hold much water, but as long as they make it somewhat consistent in the show, it should be fine.

And yes, I love that balance of old and the new…

Interesting theory. My own, excluding Chiaya and her mom, is that the stones are shattered pieces of meteorite with special properties falling to the earth. Up to now, there’s no clear explanation on them aside that they drastically amplify a person’s characteristics. Some already look like the shape of a heart while people craft them that way as we’ve seen so far.

      • skylion says:

Hmmm. They fall from sky shaped like hearts. Some are crafted that way. So…the ones that fall from the sky were crafted that way. Which came first? Or is there a difference?

        • BlackBriar says:

I’d say half of them look like hearts as they fell down. As for why the stones look like that, I chalk it up to anime logic. It wins every time.

I think anime fans might be missing a calling, either in Philosophy Classes or in Narrative Fiction…or BOTH!

It’s shaping up to be the best arc the show has produced yet. The divide between the two factions really give a sense of difference in time periods while at the same time a Hatfields/McCoys style setting.

Always be wary of those who have too much time on their hands willing to do anything to stave off boredom.

A bit odd that the subs are showing some of the people are making sentences in a Yoda-like fashion.

Yeah, as Fosh says, there are some official dubs coming out…so we’ll see how the language turns out.

      • BlackBriar says:

I think I’ve mentioned this on the previous Rolling Girls post but here is the cast list for the dubs:

        • Felecia Angelle as Nozomi
        • Monica Rial as Yukina
        • Jad Saxton as Ai
        • Leah Clark as Chiaya
        • Colleen Clinkenbeard as Masami
