MetaFap: Fall ’14 – 02 [NSFW]
Get yer jimmies rustled!
Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu – 02
Ah, anime, where the best way to get the girl is to be the girl.
So I know I wrote last week that I wanted a better understanding of the bad guys, but I didn’t want a Nasu-level exposition dump! This episode was just too slow an episode to be dropping into a series this early on. That said, the show managed to keep things fun through its amusing, if repetitive, gags. Like, Thouars trying to seduce Souji while Aika gets angry was already done to death in episode 1, but damn it if it isn’t funny to see Aika putting Thouars into an armlock or Thouars whipping out the instant police tape to keep Aika out while she tries to bed Souji for the umpteenth time. The mother was probably the best part of this, as she went right with the flow, pushing Souji not only to get with Thouars but also to pursue his identity as twin tailed mini hero(ine) of justice. Yeah, person-thinks-just-like-dirty-otaku is really played out in these late night anime shows, but at least her perspective as mother-who-lost-chu2-dreams-due-to-son-and-thus-lives-through-him-vicariously somewhat makes sense.
As for the explanation for the bad guys, these Ultimegil who steal the feeling of love people have for certain elements (you might say the burning desire people feel for certain things, that is to say, moe), well, that makes about as much sense as I expected and need it to. It still leaves me wondering why twin tails are the strongest of these, but I don’t need to know that already at episode 2. Hopefully we’ll have discovered by the time the show is over what is unique to twin tails that makes it the strongest. Perhaps the show can visit other moe factors, like it did the traditional bloomer PE uniform at the end of this episode, and compare and contrast them to twin tails to show the twin tails’ superiority.
Erina’s got a clear route to becoming Tail Yellow now, based on her calling an emergency all-school meeting just to declare her undying love for Tail Red. Ah, the gender bending harem lead causing confusion in poor curious maidens. There’s the Kampfer I was looking for. But that will probably take a back seat next episode which seems to be about Aika’s route to becoming Tail Blue, which I’m looking forward to. I like her fiery attitude, and perhaps some alien twin tail powers are what she needs to get Souji back on the osananajimi route.
Twin tail meido is cute! (click for stitch)
Twin tail bondage is hot! (click for stitch)
But undeniably the cutest and hottest is the twin tail wet tank top! (click for stitch)
Aika channeling her inner Nonoriri to protect Souji’s chastity.

Madan no Ou to Vanadis – 03
“EX… CALIB- crap, wrong show, I mean Ley Admos!”
So this was the most action-heavy episode yet, and, wow, maybe it was good that the show held back on the action until now, because that looked terrible. I’m not one of those sakuga elitists who look down on CG – just the opposite, in fact; I want more CG in anime – but the CG soldiers and horses were flat out awful. The crowd animations in particular were the worst, with their robotic identical movements. The same cheats they use in animation to save on frames simply doesn’t work when CG is involved. The non-CG parts weren’t as bad, but they were still pretty bad. Eleonora’s wind slashing of the dragon was probably the best part, and even that was fairly uninspiring.
But on the story side, I’m still enjoying it when the pacing is staying snappy. The show presented the battlefield well with its narration and diagrams, and the way the flow of battle turned and twisted was enjoyable to see. The political ramifications remain interesting with Tigre now being called out as a traitor for helping the enemy take over his home in order to save it. And Tigre’s bow resonating with Eleonora’s sword is an interesting development that should provide ample reason for the two to stay together going forward. Zion was an awful villain from the very start, and I’m grateful he’s over and done with, though I anticipate future villains not being much better.
Also, I hope that’s the last of Titta we’ll see – forever if possible. Yeah, let’s interrupt a battle plan meeting to non-committally declare your intent to win back the master. Look, if you’re gonna pull a move like that, Titta you’ve gotta go all-in and tell Tigre straight up that he has to choose you or fuck off. This “I’m not gonna give up on him!” crap was weak, girl. WEAK.
What I’m learning from Eleonora is that well groomed hair and cleanly shaven pits were critical in medieval warfare.
Loved the CG diagrams. Too bad the CG action looked about the same.
If I never see his face again, that would be too soon.
So Lim actually puts on armor including helmet when in battle. Eleonora, on the other hand… I think the horses are better armored than her.

Grisaia no Kajitsu – 03
Nothing to see here.
In the interest of time (which I have little of), I am going to keep this short. Basically, Fruit of the Loom takes the opportunity to again remind us that it is based on an eroge. Last time it was a topless Amane. This time, it’s Amane “pleasuring” herself on Yuuji’s bed. I’m honestly quite surprised the show had the balls to do this since masturbation in non-H anime form is a rarity found only in the likes of Evangelion, Code Geass, and Kiss x Sis (let me know if I missed anything else). And in most cases, it’s not nearly as up front and in your face to avoid making the viewers feel too awkward. But hey, I’m not gonna complain about getting to watch a pretty girl play with herself on a guy’s bed. At least it’s part of her character and not just random fanservice. I think.
While it’s impressive that she did this so quickly, the end product is still scary.
Besides the hot and bothered session, the rest of the episode is pretty standard. Yuuji continues to interact with the other girls. We get to see more of their quirks. Life goes on. This episode, I suppose, mainly highlights how Sachi goes way overboard on her tasks. Going all the way to Hokkaido to buy literally fresh milk for school lunch? Seriously, who does that? And that little bit with the shark/bush dog fanny pack was great as well for the hilarity of the situation. There’s also more of Amane as Yuuji concedes her the right to be his “onee-chan” in exchange for turning down her request to start dating. I sure wasn’t expecting a confession, no, an outright request to to become a couple, so soon. But then again, we are talking about the girl who just masturbated on his bed earlier and stripped almost completely naked in front of him a few episodes prior.
Onee-chan status get!
In any case, it looks like doing things in excess is a recurring theme for the girls. Yumiko overreacted to Yuuji transferring in and tried to kill him. Sachi takes requests from others way too seriously and is a bit of a perfectionist. And Amane just plain pushes hard for intimate contact of any kind with Yuuji. Looks like our hero is gonna have his hands full dealing with them, for better or for worse.

Fruit of the Meh: Feels like the MC is doing a Walk-through on a bunch of tropey tropes. The first one barely held my interest, and I fell asleep the second one, so dropped it then.
Vanadis:Everything feels so wrong. It’s a potboiler political piece where they forgot to turn on the gas. None of the characters hold much of my interest, and it seems there are too many of them doing the same thing.
Twintails:It’s obvious the super-powered LOLi would hold my interest, but it needs more than that. Luckily this is a show that won’t take itself seriously, and will be willing to play with the tropes and genres it picks. How well they do it, seems to be week to week.

Thanks for the catch. I wanted to wipe that show from my memory. But alas, it always finds a way back.

The only one of these that is holding my interest, the twintails one, is (perhaps arguably) the shallowest of them all. Yet I just don’t feel any pull to keep watching Vanadis, and Grisaia just doesn’t catch my attention at all.

Re: TwinTails Tsundere. I suspect her name is Twirls, not Twowhatchamacallit, because it definately makes more sense given the naming convention. But yes, it’s such a cheesy and bad show that it is good… Oh, the oxymoronity of things…
Re: Lord Marksman and Vanadis (WhoTF translates shit…), insufficient pettanko. -nuff said-
Re: Grisaia. From somewhere I read the overview of the routes. All I’m going to say now is: Fruit of the Grisly and… *drumroll* NICE BOAT!. That is all.

I love how Grisia isn’t even trying to hide the panty shots. Is it voyeuristic if it covers half the screen?
Right now it feels like the show is trying to have its cake and eat it too. Have plenty of fanservice and tell a deeply human story. While we need to get accustomed to the girls to emphasize with them, I can only hope that they tell the story well. So far the directing is good, the music is straight out of the game, and I enjoy hearing the main characters of a VN’s voice for once.

No mm mention of Jenga?

Re Vanadis: LN stuff that was removed include
– Tigre has been Zcthed’s hostage for a month
– Tigre and Ellen bonding together at a castle town excursion
– Tita and Tigre’s people trying to secure the ransom for his release
– The reasons for the Brune-Zcthed war. A river on the Zcted-Brune border burst its banks, and a dispute arose between both sides over the amount of relief effort put there. The Brune Prince’s presence there didn’t improve matters, and war was declared later.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
Of that stuff, I’d imagine the Tigre x Ellen trip will be done as a fill-in story, since it’ll work better with this show’s timeline after they’ve saved Alsace. That reason for the war is stupid, it’s best if they don’t mention it.
With Tigre ceding Alsace to Zcthed, the ransom doesn’t really matter any more, does it? Now instead of Tigre being the chattel of the enemy, he’s a feudal lord in the employ of Her Majesty (or however they want to call it). Maybe he’s expected to hang around Ellen more than Titta wants, but somehow I don’t think he’ll be too upset about that.

Vanadis: Who needs armor when you have an impenetrable wind shield. Better to stay light and mobile and let the sword do all the work providing wind armor.

Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu: Thouars so wants to get it on with Souji but she should be careful what she wishes for. I doubt she’d keep her composure if her taunting caused him to become a wild beast.

Madan no Ou to Vanadis: A good strategic battle with a deplorable douche biting the dust. When looked at from another point of view, the events are like nails in Tigre’s coffin. Now that the governance of Alsace has been given to Eleonara as payment for using her forces to drive away the enemy, wouldn’t that mean ransom on Tigre has been closed prematurely? I mean, not only does she have him but his entire homeland.
POWUH: 600-699 and LN Enthusiast with 623 comments
Alsace is the payment for Ellen’s service in helping Tigre. Tigre is still considered Ellen’s prisoner of war and the ransom hasn’t been paid yet.
Also, this matter isn’t finished yet. Tigre just killed the son of Thenardier, a powerful noble in Brune. He won’t be left off like that. Alsace’s peace is still not guaranteed and Ellen’s employment is still not done.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
Killing a noble’s son and disgracing his army… No doubt that’s going to stir the hornet’s nest. But by commandeering his homeland, Eleonora pretty much got Tigre by attachment. Everything of value, including his lineage is there so it’s not hard to say he’s already her property.
By the way, I forgot to say this: Welcome to the top 20!!! You’ve finally made it!!!

Grisaia no Kajitsu: Wow, I’m impressed. They showed a girl actually masturbating and it’s not even a hentai anime. Japan is growing bolder. A lot of subsequent sexual innuendo as well.

Yosuga no Sora also did that.
See the “Ahh… Haru~~~” scene where Haru was shocked peeping in…

Tsk, I’m mad at myself. I had a chance to watch it back then when it was airing but let it slip by. It was when began commenting on Metanorn and I had started to watch anime online frequently then and hadn’t yet broaden my horizons. I was only following one series at the time.
