Wooooo. Space Ramen! I found this episode much better than the last; which I will distill my feelings by saying it is a like resume written in crayon. And not a good crayon.

But this, this is more like it. It felt like it had much more substance. Like the gags felt more grounded. I guess it had to do alot with the “tracking via twitter” thing.

Betelgeuse is the name of a star, Meow might have come from a planet orbiting it. Would be nice if he could find Ford Prefect.

Yeppers I loved this episode a bit more than the first but in terms of LOL moments I have to give it back to the first episode~

Right I can see that xD

      Oooooh more stuff to learn!

This episode didn’t really do anything good for me. I wish they’d make up their minds about their poverty: They’re too poor to pay at the very first place, but without doing anything that would make them any money (not that their business model is particularly robust) they continue to go to place after place after place. I guess it’s not a concern? Or just lazy writing? Or can’t let something like that get in the way of adventure… even after we make a big deal about it.

Just kinda dull, and to me it gives a feeling of laughing too much at its own jokes.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhh? I guess it really isn’t made for everyone but I find it really entertaining overall because of the cool characters and all the creative aliens! I mean I guess if you are looking for a super detailed story you probably are not going to find it with Space Dandy unfortunately.

I heard the sub jokes are not as funny as the dub jokes so I highly recommend checking out at least a few episodes of the dub! They are handled really well by Funimation.

    • Rathje says:

Did it make any more sense when Cowboy Bebop did it?

      • Foshizzel says:

Hmmm hard to say I mean Bebop does have some random episodes like the fridge one and the mushroom episode, but near the end the story starts to get really good! So in a way Space Dandy is similar in tone.

Unfortunately, this was below average. It was already a chore with the first episode. I really tried to like it but couldn’t because everything, including the jokes felt forced. The humor was stale. Clearly, there’s been a big hype for this show but I don’t see anything in it.

Sorry, guys but I’m going to do myself a favor and leave things as they are right here. That’s another off my list this season. However, to those still watching, I hope you all enjoy it. Maybe I’ll change my mind if there’s anything that sounds interesting.

Side note: For the series FUNimation picked up this season, there’s Space Dandy, Noragami, D-Frag and No-Rin. Those are the ones I know so far.

    • Foshizzel says:

I am sorry to hear that BB! I guess aliens and space hijinks is not for you? Like I told Highway I feel the dub is far better than the subs for Space Dandy because Funimation is doing a amazing job so far, but of course I know dubs aren’t for everyone.

Funimation grabs the good stuff 50% of the time and they do great scripts and jokes imo~

      • BlackBriar says:

But I did say I could change my mind so I’ll still take a look the posts that come along and if there’s something that catches my attention, I’ll go through the missing episodes until I’m up to date. Maybe there’s still hope. I did the same with Samurai Flamenco but am currently not far from dropping it again if it doesn’t shape up. And this time, it’s for good.

        • Foshizzel says:

True! I hope you do but I can’t force people to watch it I mean I feel you on Samurai Flamenco I really want to drop that series because it is just a giant mess right now…

  4. Kyokai says:

So, Mr. Johnny Bravo showed up this episode under Dandy’s skin? Not a bad episode and that whole emotional scene from an alien oyaji was unexpected but not bad again.

I still prefer the subs over the dub (I did listen to dubs this time), you can call my biases over the Japanese seiyuu. 😉
