First Impressions – Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga (Recently, my sister is unusual)
You gon’ get possesed.
Well uhh. Yeah. I already knew the show would turn out somewhat like this, but I sure didn’t expect it to be this naughty. So yeah, it’ll be taking a time-out in the MetaFAP corner for the rest of the season.
First out of the official gate for 2014! Will ImoCho set a tone for the rest of the shows, or will it be an outlier? Thanks to Sumairii for letting me bust into his party.
Belts ‘n Stuff
There’s nothing chaste about the appearance of this chastity belt.
Sumairii \\ Let’s start off with the reception. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s been pretty poor. Lots of people already thumbing their noses at the n-th incestuous anime adaptation (surprisingly this one is from a manga instead of a LN in spite of its long title). Does the show deserve this kind of bad rap? No. More accurately, not yet. And only potentially. The premiere, while heavy on the hanky panky, doesn’t actually immediately suggest the quality of the show in its entirety. There’s potential for the… chastity belt stuff to be developed interestingly going ahead. And no doubt it will be, since it seems to fill up on Mitsuki’s… juices. I’m also curious as to where our resident ghost Hiyori fits in as she very obviously has a thing for Yuuya. Hopefully the details about her will be more engaging than just childhood friend or the likes. Plus, she’s already dead (or is she?), so there’s definitely room for some dramatics about that once our unfortunate sibling duo figure out her identity. Assuming it even relates to them. It sure would suck for her to literally be just a random girl with the hots for big bro Yuuya. And as for Mitsuki herself, I’m looking forward to how her relationship with her newfound brother will change as a result of these absurd events. Which, you know, is pretty much the major selling point of the show. If you don’t count the hanky panky.
Having an Otohime around is the least of her worries.
Highway \\ Well, now, that was an experience. To be honest, that’s as close to hentai as it gets without needing mosaics, and they still needed shadow-kun AND that overlay, and a cutaway to the eroge-style text. Without the censoring, that’d be pretty much the same thing we saw in Yosuga no Sora or Aki Sora (are we sure there isn’t a ‘Sora’ in this show? Well, there is a sister, even if her name is Mitsuki, not Sora…). But I shouldn’t complain too much, it really wasn’t badly done, just rather a surprise. I do think that if the show is going to make a big deal out of a chastity belt, then maybe don’t make a chastity belt that’s so sexy that you have to censor it with a big sticker every time it’s on screen. And then they have it retract, whoa! I guess they need the sticker then! The other thing I found somewhat interesting is that the show spent so much time with Mitsuki in the bathroom. Japanese women are known for being very reticent about anything to do with the bathroom. One of the reasons they developed the Otohime (The Sound Princess) was an attempt to save water, because Japanese women would repeatedly flush the toilet so that noone would hear them going. So it just struck me as interesting that it would be such a big deal in the show.
As for the rest of the show? I found it rather interesting. I like that it’s not all focused on Yuuya, and will hopefully keep that same level of focus on Mitsuki. She is where most of the action is happening, given her body swapping with Hiyori, and the back and forth worked pretty well. I also wonder what they really have to fill up that lock with. I doubt that it’ll be fine with just Hiyori double teaming her for the whole show.
Unfortunately for us viewers, it seems the show is only being aired on TV in the censored variety. Yes that’s right. Even the famed AT-X (man’s best friend) has it censored, which might or might not suggest anything about the degree of naughtiness present behind the shadows and the cutesy logos. As Highway notes though, it is rather off-putting that they have to censor something as central to the plot (assuming there is one) as the chastity belt. Ulterior motives behind wanting to see it in all its glory aside, it’s quite difficult to… appreciate the show’s finer details when all you see is a black gash across the screen (shadow-kun hard at work) or a logo whenever said fine details appear. I will say that the eroge screen is one creative addition though, for what it’s worth.
A rollicking good start to the season, I think. This show was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and it’ll definitely fit well in MetaFap. It will be interesting to see if *real* Mitsuki starts to fall for her new brother, or will she be the tsun side to Hiyori’s dere side? I think that could get a little boring if it stays that way the whole time, but it did seem like Mitsuki wasn’t completely hating him, just more not really caring. We’ll have to see which direction that goes.
