Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S – 14

Kuroko is enjoying the high life

Time for more MISAKA sister fun with Touma! Just kidding things have not been so fun for Misaka and her sisters thanks to the evil deeds of a certain overpowered Accelerator and judging from the comment reaction last week it seems like most of us are NOT having fun with this giant recap of Index season one, but at least it will be over soon right?

Misaka full of emotion

railgunS (6)

Misaka made me cry like a baby this week.

railgunS (7)

I feel the same way…

I have to hand it to Rina Satou for doing such a fantastic job voicing Misaka in these past few episodes because damn they have been filled with lots of emotional scenes like the bridge scene at the end with Touma this week? Does anyone remember if Misaka was this emotional in the first season of Railgun? I don’t recall if she was or not? Before we talk more about that bridge scene again I think the part with Touma hanging out with Kuroko in her room was done the same way from episode eleven of Index along with the kitten who magically found the map and data from the level six shift project? I guess dog is a great name for that cat because it was able to do something with Misaka’s scent I think? Now back to the epic emotional bridge scene which was tough to watch because I think most of us are used to seeing her act more boastful or cracking jokes about Touma, but this time we got to see Misaka slowly start to breakdown in front of him unlike episode twelve of Index and part of thirteen which felt a bit more shounen-ish and less dramatic. After that moment it was nice to see how friendly the two of them were even though I could hear the screams of rage from anti Touma x Misaka fans all over the world, but I feel differently after seeing Touma in the sisters arc because he has not done his epic-speech-punch-to-the-face-combo yet and I know that moment is coming eventually with the next few action packed episodes.

Extra Railgun S fun

railgunS (2)

Touma-“Words sure are hard.”            Dog-“Dayum boy you are dumb.”

railgunS (3)

I like this version of Misaka the best!

railgunS (4)

Careful Touma she might slip into yandere mode!

railgunS (5)

I think Touma might be turning into a hardcore M!

End thoughts

The adventures of Touma and Misaka are getting really intense lately and I can’t wait to see Touma finally punch Accelerator in the face ending his mission to kill the MISAKA sisters, but I will be sad to see Touma leave us in favor of swimsuits…wait I am just kidding! I welcome that sight any day of the week because I really need to see Kuroko and Saten go crazy around Uiharu and Misaka! So what did you enjoy about this episode? I just loved listening to the OST play in the background while Misaka showed off her emotional side along with her shocking the hell out of Touma over and over again…ouch…

This was a really good episode. The bridge just redefined everything. Seeing Misaka breakdown to that extent was a surprise, especially since she portrays herself as ne to not really shed tears, and all cred to Touma, it would take massive will power and strength to let yourself get hit with enough electricity to power the common household, but for also reaching out Misaka and showing that there is someone that deeply cares for her and doesn’t want to see her in this state of sadness. Can’t wait to see accelerator get it, and to see his expression. And Kuroko, looks like she won’t get her yuri now. Touma x Misaka OTP.

    • BlackBriar says:

She was a bit more reserved here in my opinion. In the Index version, she was far more emotional and shed a lot of tears, even going to the point of calling herself a villain because she blames herself for the deaths of the clones whether it was indirectly or not.

Pfft, Kuroko never had a chance of getting Misaka that way. It’s all just a sad fantasy in her mind. Touma x Misaka has always been the ideal pairing. Besides, I always had the feeling Misaka wanted a family of her own and that can never be if she sticks around with Kuroko.

      • Hiss13 says:

Although, I think the whole villain thing was replaced by her internal dialogue. But yeah, I re-read that part in the Light Novels and she did call herself a villain and did seem to be in much more despair in the novels/Index I.

I guess that the main factor was that this scene was augmented perfectly with the soundtrack which was why it seemed to have more impact on the audience in general.

    • Foshizzel says:

@PanzerJager: Yeah the bridge scene was great because it had some emotional scenes for Misaka who is usually this rough and tough girl who rarely is seen upset and yes soon Accelerator will face Touma!

@BB: I dunno about that I checked out that bridge scene in Index and it felt like the opposite for me because Misaka wasn’t displaying any tears or signs of breaking down to me but I suppose we can’t always count tears as “emotion”

Yeah poor Kuroko! I guess she will make a good aunt? LOL

@Hiss13: Ahhh that is interesting about the novels and YES the OST was amazing for this episode especially the bridge scene~

Considerably fresher performances and pacing this time around on A Certain Iron Bridge.

Looking for work Butt kicking next week.

I think the new fun thing is going to be reading your comments for bad transcriptions. 🙂

      • BlackBriar says:

It’ll be the best new thing since “fixing” someone’s comments. 😀

This was a great episode and so will the next be. But I’ve seen it in Index as have many. It is also painful to watch since the Sisters are dying. I’ll be glad when Touma finally punches Accelerator in the face.

That will not only end the Sisters dying and bring an end to an arc most of us have already seen. It’ll move us on to fresh material. I really would like to see what happens with the Sisters after the end of the Level 6 project. And of course, more of Misaka interacting with Kuroko, Saten and Uiharu. The latter two have been missing for too long!

    • Foshizzel says:

Hell ya HannoX the epic battle of Touma vs Accelerator is coming soon and I can’t wait!

True we are getting some fresh material soon I just fear that the rest of RailgunS will be filler/gag comedy arcs but whatever I want something new~

  4. Highway says:

While this didn’t feel like as massive a waste of time rehashing the same content as the previous two episodes, I still wish they could have found a way to tighten this whole thing up by at least two episodes. To be honest, there’s been precious little ‘from Mikoto’s view’ in this whole past few episodes, certainly not enough for me to justify taking so much time retelling the same story.

    • Foshizzel says:

Agreed Highway I wish they could wrap up the sisters arc really fast along with Touma fighting Accelerator but I am enjoying the new-ish scenes with Misaka and I do agree they are taking their sweet time =/

  5. BlackBriar says:

Heh, I could have skipped through this episode completely because I already knew how it would play out but I got curious and watched it anyway to make comparisons and not everything that happened on the bridge in Railgun S happened the way it did in Index although the dialogues were pretty much the same.

Misaka used an electric beam on Touma three times before she did that bomb-like blast in Index but in Railgun S, the blast was much wider.

Here, she had a lot facial expressions to show that she had really become undone. My favorite is the one where she had that crazed smile on her face because she couldn’t believe Touma’s words after being in despair for so long. I picked an odd time to be a sadist. Anyway, I can wait to see Touma’s fist pass judgment on Accelerator.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I wouldn’t blame you or anyone else that would decide to skip this episode or the entire sisters arc because it really is nothing NEW to fans of both index and Railgun but I like seeing the tiny differences here and there.

True I saw the original episode and it was not as detailed as this Railgun S episode~

I know right? I love the expression work of this season along with Kuroko who ALWAYS has the best facial reactions in the series xD

I’m starting to see why people who have seen Index are complaining. This whole “beat Accelerator” stuff is getting old really quickly. Lots of emotion right now, but it’s going a tad slowly. The next episode isn’t going to be fun if Misaka isn’t there that much. Touma? No thanks.

At least Rina Satou is getting practice with other emotions for when they’re finally done with Raildex and she needs another job. Hopefully, Uihaura’s and Saten’s voice actresses will get back to work soon!

…if the Liberal Arts SS story is next then very very yes…

    • Foshizzel says:

True its like GET ON WITH IT already and it is moving very slowly but I like it so far even though I can see why people would drop it right now until they get through the sisters arc/index recap.

I don’t think Rina Satou will quit voicing Misaka because I could honestly see another season of Index and a possible s3 or movie for Railgun? Either way I love watching the emotional side of Misaka <3

      SATEN I MISS YOU!!
