Katanagatari Look Back – 5 & 6

Katanagatari 05 (3)

Togame somehow responsible for the most entertaining action scene of the episode.

spring13-lvllnWe discussed the middle third of the first half of the show with Natasha a couple weeks ago, and this time we have another special guest, Amuro of Anivision, to talk about the conclusion of the first half. You might have heard Amuro before on some of our Notes on Robotics;Notes or maybe on the Anivision podcast of which our own Jrow is also a part. Amuro is also partially responsible for making this series of podcasts possible, as you’ll hear.

Good thing we got to see Togame’s wondrously long hair in its frozen glory before the next episode!

With regards to Konayuki, the thing that threw Shichika off is that she switched the arc of her swing mid-air. If Konayuki hadn’t been ridiculously strong it wouldn’t have been a problem at all since her feet weren’t planted in the ground and there was no previous momentum. It would be difficult to dodge an attack if your opponent was just flailing their arms around like an idiot, but you don’t have to worry about getting hit since it would be worthlessly weak. I imagine against the other members of her clan she would be totally harmless, but with her comparative super strength just flailing her arms around stupidly makes her almost unstoppable.
