  1. Jrow says:

Mecha’s making a comeback this season!

Great job on the preview team, and cool to see our new people contributing to the big catalogue. 🙂

    Really looking forward to…
-Attack on Titan (“award-winning” mangas typically translate to good anime)
-Gargantia (I’m a Butcher Gen fan)
-Samurai Bride (enjoyed season 1 a lot)
-Railgun S (I didn’t think Railgun was really all that good, but this series and arc might be a good one)
-Devil Survivor 2 (another Shin Megami Tensei series)
    -Red Data Girl

Though we have to wait till later this year or early next, a nice crop of movies. Steins;Gate should be fun and that Shinkai movie with that amazing rain porn.

    • Foshizzel says:

I know right? Giant robots are back in style! I need something to get over my disappointment of E7AO/Gundam AGE’s final arc and my loss of Aquarion EVOL…

Attack on Titan looks amazing and I heard great things from the manga fans, but I fear with the director from Guilty Crown in the mix I hope he doesn’t wreck this series with all the hype surrounding it or did he learn from his past mistakes? I hope so~

RAAAIILLGGGUUNNNZ! I am watching s1 and I can honestly say that I was surprised at all the yuri-ish fanservice that happens in the first two episodes alone! We had two shower scenes and one episode spent 10 mins talking about various styles of pantsu with Kuroko? Not that it is a BAD thing I just want to see if s2 can avoid that mindless stuff and push a story, but we shall see xD

      • skylion says:

Attack on Titan features a much different series composition steward than GC had. Kobayashi Yaskua. Looks like she has written for Death Note and Shana, and has done composition for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure; which has great pacing. Remember, the guy that did for GC did Seikon no Qwaser 2……

      • Jrow says:

It seems our rule for Minitalks will continued to be followed with Gargantia: There must be Mecha in it. 🙂

  2. Hime says:

Can’t wait for Vassalord, the PV was quite delicious!

  3. Liza says:

Really surprised by the amount of mecha this season.

I have so many that I want to watch(29 series), it’s insane.

    • BlackBriar says:

Whew, well that’s a relief for me then. After listing the anime for this season, I’ve come up with a total of 19 animes to watch. My schedule is going to be tight.

      • Highway says:

I haven’t even bothered to count. I was looking at shows to blog, and was getting up close to double digits (which is just ludicrous, I can’t blog more than like 4 shows). And I might break 20 watching again this coming season (finish up 23 from Winter).

      • skylion says:

I got up to 18 with at least three short series. I had 22 with four shorts; with at least seven carry overs from ’12.

        • Highway says:

23 included 5 shorts and 6 carryovers. Of the shorts, some were good (Yama no Susume, Mangirl), some were atrocious (Ishida to Asakura, Ai Mai Mi), and Senyuu was somewhere in the middle.

          • Karakuri says:

What?! No Inferno Cop?! Highway, you need to watch Inferno Cop though I don’t know if satire is your thing.

            • Overcooled says:

I second what Kara says. Inferno Cop is great, although it depends on what your sense of humour is.

            • Highway says:

It depends on the satire. Some is great, some is tedious, and I couldn’t tell you which it would be before seeing it.

          • Muir says:

I don’t know if missed it or not on some old post, but congratulations to joining the Metateam ^v^ will you still be doing SushiGoKart? (I was lurking there~)

        • Muir says:

I’m going to watching every series’ episode one like I did last season *^* I’m really to face the carnage. Also, I will be spamming this everywhere. AIURA FOR THE SECOND COMING OF NICHIJOU. COMEDY FTW

    • Foshizzel says:

HELL YA ROBOTS! I AM SO HYPE <3

Wooooooo! That is a lot, but I always try a bit of EVERYTHING anyway and slowly weed out the ones I don't want or lost interest in, with the winter season I dropped about four things because they got kind of boring >.<

      • Liza says:

My friends always wonder how in the world I do it and I’m not even sure half of the time. A lot of time management goes into this. XD However usually a couple get dropped due to the first episode being boring and such so my actual watching will probably be around the ~22-26 range.

        • Kyokai says:

I know where you are coming from. Had the same schedule for the last two years. Only recently (since Winter), I’ve reduced by watch-list to around 15.

    • akagami says:

I salute you ma’am. I thought my lists were bad enough, but you put me to shame.

  4. BlackBriar says:

It’s Spring again!! Has it really been a year since Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and the first half of Jormungand came out? Damn, time sure does fly and but doesn’t feel like it.

This is shaping up to be a good seasonal line-up with promising new anime and long awaited sequels. Winter wasn’t bad but it didn’t meet expectations either save a few exceptions like Mondaiji. Spring season usually has a good reputation where entertainment is concerned so I’ll have my fingers crossed again hoping there will be something to fill the holes in my heart.

    Those in my sight are:
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)
    Suisei no Gargantia
    Devil Survivor 2
Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W: It’s that time again to play that game “Spot the reference”.
    Hyakka Ryoran: Samurai Bride
Dansai Bunri: A fetish for cutting hair? LOL That sounds like that bad guy from the Charlie’s Angels movies who’d cut the hair from girls and start sniffing it. Sure, it sounds weird but so were shows like Ben-To and that turned out alright.
    Karneval
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S: More Biri biri. More Kuroko. More Kuroko stalking Biri biri and Biri biri punishing Kuroko.
    Date a Live
    Hataraku Maou-sama!
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
    Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko
    Red Data Girl

The ones on my maybe list:
    Ginga Kikoutai: Magestic Prince
    Valvrave the Liberator (Kakumeiki Valvrave)
    Mushibugyou
Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake Ga Nai: Haven’t seen the first season but hey, I’ve sequels of shows like Minami-ke and To LOVE-Ru so I’ll give it a shot.
    Photo Kano
    Arata Kangatari

New bloggers have arrived. Greetings to the fresh meat and the not so fresh meat. Nice to meet you, Sumairii. So Highway is part of the Meta Team. That explains why he disappeared from the top 15 commenter’s list. So I get to tackle some of his posts, huh? Nice. So be it!! *grin*

    • Highway says:

I was waiting to see if you guys would say anything. 🙂

I’m really excited to be writing and look forward to getting tackled… wait… maybe that’s not what I should say.

      • Karakuri says:

Careful Highway, you might get anaaga on a shipping spree again. xD

        • BlackBriar says:

Quick! Stop him before she catches on or it will be the end of everything! 🙂

      • BlackBriar says:

I’m really excited to be writing and look forward to getting tackled… wait… maybe that’s not what I should say.

Poor choice of words, my friend. We don’t want to alert Metanorn’s legendary Yaoi fangirl, now do we? Or any other fujoshi for that matter. Plus, I gotta consider what my master, Overcooled, would think of it.

        • skylion says:

          :::whistling at the sky::

          • BlackBriar says:

Hehehehe, you should be more wary, Skylion. Whistling isn’t going to help. You’ve already been shipped with Highway once before. There’s no telling how far it will go this time.

      • skylion says:

…you said it, I’m doing it, this is your only warning 🙂

Good going, Highway, teach them whipper-snappers a thing or two. Course, all the young fillies like that there BL, so you have more ‘en yer peck o trouble….

    • Foshizzel says:

Attack on Titan, Suisei no Gargantia, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S, Date a Live, Valvrave the Liberator and Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake Ga Nai! All great choices BB

Yep a new season and new blood! Things are getting exciting on Metanorn xDD

    • Muir says:

I think you should add Aiura to that list ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) eh?

      • BlackBriar says:

I’ll take that suggestion into consideration though there’s no guarantee I’ll watch it. There are so many others that have taken up most of my free time.

        • akagami says:

Do it! It’s only 5 minutes! 5 minutes of MOE-CHARACTER-OVERLOAD. Oh, and it has comedy.

  5. BlackBriar says:

PS: There seems to be a problem. From my end, the Outcast’s lair section is linked to that of Winter 2013’s catalogue.

  6. skylion says:

You know, Winter 2013 wasn’t all that bad; dat Thursday line-up!

Things ,off the cuff, that I anticipate: The S2’s.
    Oreimo
    Railgun
    Nyarlkos-san.

These top my list, cause I’ve been really wanting to see them all. I only wish KyoAni could have gotten Chuunibyou S2 ready. Contract Renewed!

I really want to see exactly how much the cast of Oreimo can break themselves horribly. It’s like a soap opera of awful people (and some very nice people as well) being dreadful to each other; and it’s good stuff.

I thought Railgun had a great beginning, an average middle, and a paint by numbers ending. Typical really, but I do enjoy the characters very much.

….and I, of all people, don’t have to say a word about my favorite alien/outer god/genki girl do I?

    • Foshizzel says:

Oreimos, railguns and Nyarukos OH MY! Good choices~

Yep you have a bright future Skylion with S2 of Chu2koi in the works! I am curious to see how that goes down, but from what I gather on G+, Twitter and youtube a lot of KyoAni fans feel other backlog shows need a s2 before Chu2koi aka Hyouka? I will watch it either way because there are some loveable characters watch.

Railgun s2: I hope we get less perv moments with Kuroko and more action/story/world building! Don’t get me wrong I mean I love when Kuroko goes full yuri mode for Misaka because those are some of the best laugh out loud moments; however we need a good story this time or we will have Index syndrome aka 2 full seasons and a movie and another season after? Although I would LOVE a movie eventually.

      FK YA MORE NYARUKO <3

      • skylion says:

This is Rika Takanashi, the other KyoAni fanbois can sit and stew. When a middle aged man demands more Rika…..he gets more Rika.

…..and that is going in places I might not intend. 🙂

I think the best mix for Railgun would be to just brute force the hell out of it. The amount of destruction and awesome that just Misaka and Kuroko together can bring would be great to animate and watch. Then you add Saten-san with her devil may car attitude and Uriha, with the often over looked ability to keep anything she holds at a constant temperature…..the sky is the limit!

      • skylion says:

        Spammy increasing my count again…

        • BlackBriar says:

Using Spammy for dirty work, huh? How is Highway going to feel about this?

          • skylion says:

….the comment he stole still isn’t back yet. So I guess Highway may be up to some shenanigans?

            • Highway says:

Don’t look at me. The comment a couple days about him mocking me? That’s cause I can now *see* my comments caught in the spam filter, but not approve them. I’m still new around here.

      • Hiss13 says:

Railgun S is going to be the Sisters Arc adapted from the Railgun manga Volumes 4-7. As such, there will be less Kuroko perv moments (there were none in the manga), more Touma, and of course…ITEM’s anime debut!!!

  7. skylion says:

Spammy doesn’t like it when I am long winded…

    • BlackBriar says:

He’s telling you to go out in small bursts. Being long winded seems to trigger a penalty.

      • skylion says:

Just increase my post count, IOW? I mean, I’m in second place now thanks to the DEATH OF HIGHWAY THE COMMENTOR!

…cute wittle phoenix comes from out the ashes, thou.

        • BlackBriar says:

Pfft, hahahaha!! Funny, I seem to recall calling Highway a phoenix on one of Fosh’s posts because he was climbing up the ranks so fast. His commenting count was monstrous but awesome. It’s going to be interesting now that he’s a Metanorn blogger.

  8. skylion says:

    Other stuff:

Big Mecha in Little Paradise. Butcher Gen and P.I.G.? This could go in so many directions, so the ride aught be fun.

A Cat, a Girl, and a Horny Guy. I’m a big fan of the original illustrator, and I have actually followed the manga to an extent. I looks fairly typical, but the RomCom thing calls to me like Siren Peter Griffen luring sailors to their doom humming the theme to the Rockford Files…

  9. Hoshi says:

~Dang, Spring season is going to kick some serious ass. (So sad I won’t be able to blog anything this season ;;)

I know I’m definitely checking out Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru and Devil Survivor 2 after reading their manga adaptions. Aku no Hana, Attack on Titan (though I hate post-apocalyptic settings), and Karneval also seem quite interesting.

Gah, I need to see Otona Joshi no Anime Time! Josei has become one of new favorite genres and it’s sad that not enough of them are animated…

    • Foshizzel says:

D’awwww enjoy your break this season! I hope we see some comments from you <3

Nice list! I plan on giving all of those shows a test run even Karneval, but we shall see I always try to give those "otome" looking shows a trial run I survived 3 episodes of Amnesia and the entire season of Arcane Familiga...

    • Highway says:

Hoshi, I really recommend making the time. I was really pleased with the first two episodes (of the 3 this season). A really different feel, and because they’re one-shot stories, there’s none of the teasy spinning out that often frustrates me so much with josei. They just tell a good story.

  10. Foshizzel says:

IT HAS BEEN DONE! Thank you to everyone on the team that helped make this happen and highfive to the graphic artists, but as a side note I can’t wait to work with Highway and Sumairii this season! SO WELCOME TO THE TEAM BROS!

    • joojoobees says:

Oh, yeah, and good job on putting together such a massive preview compendium. It must have been a lot of work!

      • skylion says:

Yeah, every season I marvel at how clean and easy everything is to look at an navigate. Kudos.

      • Foshizzel says:

@Joojoobees: Thank you! and we almost ran out of time hahah

@Skylion: Thank you! These always take a while to build up and gather info, but in the end it is worth it to spread the news of new anime~

    • Highway says:

Thanks, Fosh, I’m super stoked about it too.

And what he said: Great job to everyone putting it together, with awesome graphics and navigation. It really was an experience to work on.

    • Ness says:

Yeah, we barely got this out in time again. Mainly my fault with last minute procrastination. You know I can get this done within 3 days if all the info is in heheh but life is a biatch. But we do it and get it out and after it’s all done, we can relax for a bit (and I can disappear to behind the shadows again for a little buwahhaha).

Glad to see Highway and Sumairii contribute a lot on this. Surprised actually to see so much input from them in so short of a time. Good job and especially for keeping the IRC alive heheh :3

OF COURSE, thank you Fosh for your dedication. Because we all know that Fosh is Metanorn. XD

  11. joojoobees says:

I’m intrigued by Hataraku Maou-sama; I hope it is more of a Comedy than a Rom-Com, though.

Otona Joshi no Anime Time: Yeah! I thought the first “season” was very interesting, and have already watched the first of this season’s three episodes. I like the fact that the characters have very different problems to deal with than protagonists in typical anime.

I did watch the first two webcasts of Red Data Girl, and it already looks great despite the low resolution. The story is developing in an interesting way, too. Definitely will watch.

Not sure why you didn’t include the remake of Yamato, but I am all over that.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hataraku Maou-sama: Same here I hope it is on the comedic level of Nichijou and Nichibros? I wouldn’t mind that and the hints of romance might make it interesting.

Yeah I saw the first episode of RDG, but I have not seen the 2nd episode! I feel it is going to be a very slow series and that has me worried…I guess I should try it anyway.

Oooooh I think only Anaaga blogged that originally with the OVA/Movie releases? I plan on checking it out! JoeAnimated said it was a good idea to watch the tv series version.

    • Muir says:

Hataraku Maou is pretty nice XD The Maou Satan, now called Maou Sadao works ad WgRonald’s, and the Yuusha Emilia, now Yusa Emi, is an office lady!! hahaha

    • Kyokai says:

@JJB, Otona was pretty interesting and like Maou-sama! a lot more than I expected.

About Yamato, it’s been running since last two seasons (which we then covered) so no point of covering a continued series.

  12. skylion says:

I think the biggest shows I’m look forward to is Date a Live and Red Data Girl.

The second is another piece from the awesome P.A. Works; Another, Tari Tari and my much beloved Hanasaku Iroha stand way ahead in my favorites for the technical stuff, and I love the stories.

Date A Live, however, just looks like my kind of insane storytelling stew. Mechs, fighting girls, mind blowing battles, a yandere girl with a clock in one eye, usagi lolis, and supernatural oddness….can’t wait…

    • Foshizzel says:

Date a Live: When I saw that original trailer I was like OH MY GOD THIS looks awesome! That and it reminds me of a mecha-ish version of Mondaiji! I mean we have lots of supernatural elements mixed in with advanced tech battle suits or would this be more of a mechanized Kore wa zombie desu ka? Either way…

      • skylion says:

        Mechanized Zombie-Kar? Desu?

      • Karakuri says:

I’m actually really excited for Date A Live’s soundtrack. Everything I heard in the previews, I liked.

      • Muir says:

Date A Live is awesome. Mechas are mainly on the side of the AST (Anti Spirit..Team? I think..I don’t remember ._. It’s been a while since I last read the previous volume) but some of the Spirits have some mecha looking armor huehuehue

Supernatural, Astrology-ish referencing Religion (I think Hebrew), Action, Harem, Semi-Mecha, and FULL OF WIN

  13. KLACMAN says:

well give spring anime i got in my radar to watch

    Zettai Bouei Leviathan
    Sparrows Hotel
    Namiuchigiwa No Muromisan
    Hentai Ouji To Warawanai Neko

What is the main character of Devil Survivor 2’s name? Unlike Persona i don’t remember him having a default name.

  15. zztop says:

How does the airtime of an anime series reflect its Japan target audience and demographic?

Like what is the difference between the audience demographic who watch anime airing between 11pm-2am and beyond(aka Karneval and Devil Survivor 2), and the audience who watches the 9.30am, 5pm and 7pm anime(aka Danchi Tomoo,Uchuu Senkan Yamato, and Mushibugyou).

What about viewers who watch the 8pm to 10pm anime(like Suisei no Gargantia, Sparrows Hotel, Aku no hana)? What group would they fall into?

Any enlightnenment would me much appreciated.

That is a incredibly interesting, and no doubt, complex question. And…arm-chair sociologist that I am, I would love to delve into it. But, since I live in the US Eastern Time Zone, it isn’t something that I find effects me much.

I did try, many seasons ago, to try to keep up with when the shows hit Japanese airwaves, and did a little bit of math to figure out what time that where I live. “Oh, I’m asleep when that comes on”, or “Oh, I’m out hunting polar bears when that show comes on….I live in crazy town” It ended up not effecting when I would watch them, which was whenever I could dig an hour or so into my daily schedule, and more important, didn’t effect how much I enjoyed them or not.

But I give props, it’s still a good question, cause those demographics in Japan do affect what we ultimately watch.

    • Karakuri says:

Uhhh all I know is that the late night stuff is usually the overly violent or sexualized stuff. Devil Survivor for sure will be overly violent since it involves a ton of people dying (being the apocalypse and such) and some tougher moral themes. From what I’ve seen, Aku no Hana fits in there too due to it’s darker depiction of society. …Not a clue about the others.

I’d assume that the later you go, the older the intended audience. I don’t know if gender is considered into this at all since I’m pretty sure Karneval has a lot of BL hints and I’m fairly sure that DS2 would be considered seinen.

And then apparently Kanokon was a morning show, which goes to show that some things just defy explanation.

        • belatkuro says:

And so is HSDxD. Though I believe AT-X is a cable channel so you’ll have to pay to get it so it’s not as accessible to others like the other channels.
I dunno, I’ll have to look more into this.

  16. PrimeHector says:

Yeah it is. All the other characters are your party members.

Been very busy with Infinity Moment so I haven’t dropped by.

The new season is certainly diverse with the genres but quality-wise, I feel it’s a step down from last year’s lineup, though it does seem better than the previous season(Winter).

Because I’m only carrying over Hunter x Hunter(and I like to make myself suffer by watching a lot of shows OTL), I’ll be picking up a lot of shows. My initial count is 20 shows but that will probably increase when the shows start airing(and gets subs).

The show I’m looking forward to is definitely Shingeki no Kyojin. The PV really looks awesome and the Titans look so hideous. Though with me having read the manga and already know the plot and the secrets, it’s going to be interesting to see this in a new lens, especially regarding the Titans.

Railgun is the next show I’m looking forward to. Having delved into the Indexverse so much(I’m caught up with the volumes of the LN), I couldn’t leave out Railgun. And yeah, it’s the Sisters arc. Can’t wait for more Misaka and possibly animating a character I instantly liked when she appeared.
Though having read the source materials of Index and Railgun, I think I can say that people who like the latter are probably only anime-only viewers. There’s really a lot more to Index than Touma’s blabbering and Railgun is just the same as Index in the feel not just the SoL that it seems(and probably the thing that people liked). I blame the anime adaptations of the two.

This is getting long though so I’ll stop now. I’ll be sure to check out most of them.

tl;dr Looking forward to the new season and the new writers.

Second that. If it came out in NA on the PS3 I would buy it in a blink. I don’t have a PSP/Vita =(

I’m interested in Devil Survivor 2, Attack of Titans, and maybe Karneval. This season seems slow as well but I’ll give these three a try.

Greetings, friends. In case you’ve never heard of me, and odds are you haven’t, I’m that “fellow blogger” that Highway might have mentioned a few times before. Now, we’re both still fellow bloggers; just for a different site.

Spring season brings a deluge of new shows, and I’ve got far too many of them on my plan to watch list. But what’s an anime fan without his anime? Wait, don’t answer that question. In any case, I look forward to a great time with you all, staff and reader alike. Just try to be gentle, ok?

    • Foshizzel says:

Hello Sumairii! WELCOME TO METANORN BRO!

    • BlackBriar says:

Greetings Sumairii! As one of Metanorn’s regular commenters, I look forward to your posts starting this season. This is going to be fun.

But what’s an anime fan without his anime?

It’s anime that gives the viewer the right to call themselves an anime fan. Nothing less than that is permitted.

    • Kyokai says:

Gentle? Muhawahahahahaa. You joined the wrong team, Suma. ^___~

Someone show him the door of Meta HQ’s dungeons

    • Gecko says:

Hello hello! Looking forward to see you joining the team 🙂

    • Kyokai says:

Indeed, she’s busy. I missed Danbōru Senki Wars, which I’ve added now.
